Sushi Jae continues to be our go to sushi restaurant. Not because they are close to us, but they have great sushi and awesome customer service. Our favorites are Adam Bomb, Cherry Blossom, Dancing Heather, Fire Crunch, Mad Roll, Mango Paradise, MK Special, Orange Blossom, and the Burn. The sushi and sashimi has consistently been fresh, had great flavor and beautifully presented. I have never had an issue with any of our takeout orders. This is a family owned business and the owner and staff are very nice. I highly recommend them. read more

I'm not sure how this place got 4.5 stars but I've given them several tries, both dining in and take out and each time is a disappointment. As many other reviewers mentioned, the portion of their items especially the rolls are ridiculously tiny with the amount they charge. Each rolls is almost $20 after tax and it's probably half the size of other restaurants serve. I'll probably need to eat 4 rolls before I feel remotely full and I'm a woman, ridiculous!! And their food are not even good so there is nothing to justify for the high price. Stay away unless you like to be ripped off! read more

Orange blossom roll was yummy, yellowtail sushi very fresh and tasty, spicy scallop roll not very spicy, then a large special roll that I cannot remember the name of, but had several types of fish...it was good, not fantastic, but I think one of the ingredients just set it off from being great for me....onions? Sushi Jae is on Meridian and Branham, across the street from Branham High School in the same center as Milohas, Chevron, & Petco. My friend and I met up for lunch on a Saturday when they opened at noon. Sushi Jae doesn't look like a traditional sushi restaurant. The layout and furniture look more like a sandwich shop, but that's okay. Just don't expect to sit at a sushi bar. Sushi Jae is another Korean-owned restaurant. You can tell by the name and see the influence in the menu, including Korean short ribs. I give props to Sushi Jae on the design of their menu. For all of their sushi rolls, they clearly list what is on the inside and outside of the roll. That was helpful as I compared descriptions to decide what to order. We had a friendly and accommodating young waiter. He answered our questions and was able to customize my friend's bento box preferences, even though the combination of items he wanted weren't regular options on the menu. Two items I always order to compare to other Japanese restaurants is karaage chicken and salmon nigiri. I also tried their Caterpillar roll, which was supposed to have crab, unagi, avocado, & tobiko with a sweet sauce. My friend enjoyed his bento with tempura and sashimi, although I could tell just by looking at it that the tempura was overcooked. I had to ask about the Caterpillar roll, as there was only tobiko on one piece. The waiter told us it was supposed to be like that to imitate the appearance of a caterpillar. Other than that, the roll had plenty of avocado. The chicken karaage was really strange. They were like little pieces of battered chicken nuggets. The best part of my meal was the salmon nigiri. I would say the food we tried was just 3 1/2 stars, but since we had such good service, I would come back and try other things. read more

Unfortunately, another disappointing sushi experience. We had high hopes for this spot, but the rolls were beyond tiny and incredibly expensive for the mediocre fish and tiny portions. I'd expect a roll that costs about $20 to have some flavor and to have atleast a respectable amount of fish - this had neither. We had 4-5 signature rolls between 2 of us, and we were still hungry when we were done. Normally I'm quite full when I go anywhere else. Bummer. Won't be going back. read more

I got take out from Sushi Jae and I was very pleased with the pickup process and the portioning of the dishes. They provided enough ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce and they had labeled everything (veggie vs non-veg). I think I'll be back to try out the restaurant in person soon. read more

How would I start, I'm eating at jae sushi for over four years some visit I used to dine in and some were to-go orders . Due to the Covid for long time it was to-go only and after such a long time is great to get back dine in and see the same crew . Long story short: I could see Sushi Jade being a great place to visit if you live in a nearby neighborhood or are picking up food after your pet's vet visit, but it wouldn't be the first place I'd recommend otherwise. We ordered takeout from SJ recently after seeing it featured on a Yelp sushi round up. It was the only place on the list we hadn't tried, and it had great ratings. Overall, the sushi was pretty average. I got the climax roll and the mango roll that has salmon (Can't remember the name). My partner got the philly and the Adam Bomb. We also got a green salad and the agedashi tofu. The climax roll was not great. I think deep fried rolls are not suited for to-go orders, so keep that in mind. It was soggy and the wasabi sauce overpowered all the other tastes. The mango roll was okay. It was boxed with the Adam Bomb and thus tasted strongly of jalapeño. Not my favorite taste. I was surprised by how much of that flavor transferred just from sharing a box. The taste of the roll otherwise was just fine. My partner said the Adam Bomb and Philly rolls were average. The agedashi tofu was pretty bland, but my partner enjoyed it. The salad dressing was awesome! I wish I could get it in a bottle. Overall, probably won't return unless I happen to be nearby, but a solid neighborhood joint, probably, if you know what to order. read more

Glad to know this place is still open for take out during Shelter in place! I tried the Avo-Cucumber, Natto, and Yamagobo rolls. All of the rolls we're presented very nicely in the to go box with separators, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger all included! The Avo-Cucumber was definitely my favorite roll. So fresh and yummy! Service was great, brought my appetizers (Gyoza & California Roll) promptly. I also ordered Teriyaki Chicken entree which came with salad and Miso soup. It was all delicious ! Waiter and staff was attentive and appreciated them giving me extra container of Teriyaki sauce for my left-overs. Will come back again for sure. Plenty of parking in the plaza, and there was no wait around noon when they opened Got the Tako karage + the Spider Monkey roll and Dragonbow roll. Portion sizes were abysmal, which is why this place gets a 3 star. Everything tasted great, but for the price things were ($9 for the karage, $14-15 per roll), the portion sizes were about half as much as similar sushi places I've been to. The best sushi place in Cambrian park. It's in a very awkward location between a pet store and a car parts shop, but don't be fooled! It's absolutely delicious. Ordered takeout from Sushi Jae while I was in town for work. I was very impressed all around with the service and food. I ordered an appetizer, 2 signature rolls, and a basic roll, and it only took 15 minutes. I walked in and each employee greeted me with a smile, including the sushi chef. My order was ready and they had me out the door as soon as possible. I'm always a little worried how takeout sushi will be packaged and if it'll make the drive home but these guys have it perfected. I had a large box with all the rolls organized neatly and presented like I would see in their dining room. I started with the spicy edamame because of the countless mentions it has on Yelp. They were very tasty without too much spice, which was perfect. The rolls I tried were the Mad Dragon Roll, Something Special Roll, and a spicy tuna basic roll. The Mad Dragon roll was my favorite of the three. Everything about it made me want more. The something special Roll was flavorful but I wasn't a huge fan of the sweet and mango sauces. The spicy tuna roll was a smaller basic roll but it was fresh and flavorful with a kick. Overall, if I lived in the area, I would be hitting this little place up frequently. As you enter, it's a wall that lightly blocks the privacy of the restaurant. Head right and it'll open up to the seating area and the sushi bar in front. Came on my radar from a trusted source and confidant who knows his stuff. And boy did he deliver!! Sushi Jae thus far is my favorite San Jose institution in the Willow Glen/Cambrian area. The rice is perfectly cooked and the fish is deliciously fresh. The menu is quite far reaching with plenty of popular standbys as well as some really delicious sounding unique items. The ratios are perfect and the restaurant is small. My favorite item so far was the vegetable tempura roll and the Philadelphia roll. Great service too. Will be back!! read more

Not a decent sushi joint in the neighborhood, so was extremely excited to see Sushi Jae open and get good reviews. It took me awhile, but finally got a chance to come on Saturday lunch with the folks. It's fairly small, and it would be nice if they upgraded the chairs and tables from the Italian restaurant. Server was very attentive, and I really like how they have lunch bentos on weekends for the same price as weekdays. I ordered the agedashi tofu and paradise roll, my mom ordered the MAD roll, and my dad got a 3 item bento. The tea was lukewarm and when we asked for hotter tea, he brought the same lukewarm tea out. The agedashi tofu was really good, fried perfectly. My paradise roll was tasty, and the MAD roll had a nice punch. The bento was okay, for a croquette, you only get one cut in half and it was good. Tempura was nicely fried, not overly battered. The salmon teriyaki was doused in too much sauce though. Overall, a good experience and will be back for some more sushi. read more

I really didn't want to give it a good review because I don't want to have to fight crowds! Lol... But we loved this place so much how could I not. We were looking for a new sushi house because our regular one had become too busy and worst of of all they stopped serving my favorite dish. I found Sushi Jae through yelp and it sounded like our kind of place as it was described as a "whole in the wall" type. Omg I am so glad we tried it. Everything was so good! From the fresh plump edamame to the Japanese Nachos (my favorite) to the unagi don, to the baked scallops and everything else in between. Ohhhh and the tempura fried green tea ice cream...did I say tempura fried? YES!!! And let me not forget service! It was so friendly and efficient and extremely helpful when I asked for advice. A great spot for a sushi date night! They have some of the freshest sushi in the bay area. We got the chirashi bowl which came with a beautiful assortment of fish over a bed of rice. it's a 3.5 stars. I rate it 4 for because we need this kind of small a local restaurant around here and they deserve to be known. This business recently opened in my neighborhood. The staff seems Korean. The sushi bar ain't open yet (October 2016). It's definitely not the most fancy place to have sushi but small local business should be promoted and should keep on existing, especially when they serve more than decent food like Sushi Jae does. The food is very well presented. Portions are large and offer unbeatable deals for lunches! A bento box will cost you less than $10 and will keep you full fro the rest of the day (see my pictures) Do try the Japanese nachos, it was excellent, fine delicate well seasoned and very different form what I usually see and get in Japanese restaurants. I haven't tried the sashimi (my coworkers did and there were no complaints about it), I'll return and update my review! read more

Amazing neighborhood restaurant. I've been here twice and each time I got the nabeyaki udon and a few sushi rolls. Everything is delicious including their starter salad (the dressing is bomb), but their udon is phenomenal!! The flavor of the soup, everything that comes inside the soup is delicious. It comes in a small metal pot that keeps the soup hot for a while, which also makes it better! All the staff are very kind and attentive. There's not too many restaurants that I'd want to come back to because I like trying new places, but if I'm ever craving udon I am coming right back here instead of bothering to look up another place! read more
