I came into TGI sushi in Campbell at 4:30 on a Tuesday with a huge craving for a bento box. I was delighted with the delicious and hugely incredible bento box they gave me. Service was calm, quiet, attentive, and quick. The bento box had a ton of food in it and honestly, I overdid it on eating but it's OK once in a while. If I came back, I would probably ask for salad instead of tempura. The tempura was delicious though don't get me wrong. At least my bento box craving has been satiated now. i absolutely love coming to this spot after a long day and my partner and i are craving sushi. the food is super delicious and the servers and chefs are attentive and nice! the shop itself is sandwiched between two other stores, and upon entry you just get a super cozy vibe. they play kpop music videos which is nice if you're into that genre. the inside of the shop itself is a bit small, so you might find yourself having to wait a bit during the busy time periods. also, if you prefer to sit at the bar; they do doordash pick up, and sometimes the doordash folks like to wait/sit at the farthest end of the bar. so just keep in mind! otherwise, i prefer this spot over others when i want a cozy atmosphere and warm complementary miso soup! give this spot a chance if you are in the area :) read more

I popped in for lunch today. I didn't have a huge appetite but I was craving sushi and wanted a roll or two to go and this place hit the spot! I was greeted upon entry and service was prompt. There were a couple other diners that seemed to be regulars and upon seating, they were served miso soup and edamame. I definitely need to come back for the full dining experience, all the rolls people ordered looked super delicious. The layout is bright, clean and modern with about 4 dining tables, it's a small cozy spot with a sushi bar in the middle. After picking up my order I was impressed with the presentation even with a to go order. I ordered the Las Vegas roll, it was fresh and tasty! It was creamy, crunchy and had colorful bits of tobiko, soft shell crab and cream cheese. We had lunch here for the first time in over five years, TGI use to be one of our favorite sushi spots. The place is still casual and cozy, everything look almost exactly the same as before the fire. Four of us shared a sushi lunch, a sashimi lunch, a salmon lover roll, a country girl roll and a grilled hamachi kama. We all enjoyed the sashimi, rolls and grilled Kama a lot. The sushi lunch was our least favorite which I wouldn't order again. We are happy to have rediscovered TGI and glad that they still offered quality at reasonable prices. We shall return. read more

Such bad service, I called a couple minutes before 4:30 would not take my order even though they were open for service. I was in parking lot wanted to be respectful as I had been gardening I didn't want to sit inside. Called at 4:30 gave my order asked for extra light rice on one roll she confirmed. Told me 20 minutes ask her to please let me know I was in the car right in front of the door or she could call me. I waited and went in 18 minutes and she said it was first one ready. Got to the place at the beginning of the service rush. The place is small and saw a lot of people ordered to go. I heard the server tell someone wait time for to go is 1 hour. Luckily got one a few last spots at the bar. Service to sit, water, and got water pretty quick. We were served complimentary miso soup which was good and a small bowl of edamame. We waited some time and then the chicken karage came out. It was well fried but had no flavor. It could have used a little sprinkle of salt at the least. Dipped it in some sort of sweet dark thick sauce for some flavor. We waited quite awhile for the sushi to arrive. I noticed when we first got there there was only 2 people preparing the sushi at the bar and while waiting for the sushi a third person came to help. Sure that helped the other tables waiting for their order; just too bad help didn't come sooner to shorten my wait. The 3 sushi rolls we ordered were well prepared. Everything tasted good except I am not sure about the 1 piece of calamari. The texture I noticed was a little slimy which was very odd. I hope it was one off. The prices are ok. The menu is huge. Hands down one of the best sushi places I've been to in a while. Upon entering our party of 4 was immediately welcomed, seated and served complimentary edamame and miso soup. The edamame was warm and lightly salted and the Miso soup was a flavorful warm broth with tofu and seaweed. These large sushi rolls are beautifully made and are satisfyingly delicious with great flavor. Overall the quality of the sushi is extremely fresh with nicely seasoned sushi rice and good quality fish. BEST PLACE EVER! My family has been coming to TGIs since before Covid and the food has never dissapointed. The sushi, specifically the salmon, has this taste and texture that I've never had anywhere else. I don't know how to describe it but its sooooo good. The rolls are also always amazing, I would recommend the Brian Roll. The servers are so kind and always greet and remember us. The inside of the restruant is casual and small but the decoration is really tasteful and chill. Only thing I would mention is that the K-pop in the background is a little distracting (same with the K-pop on the tv). Would 100% recommend to everyone! read more

With sad feelings, I am having writing this review today. I've been going to Tgi Sushi for about 24 years. Chris was the original owner and Tgi was a known for larger than average sushi rolls with a lot of fish. That's why Tgi had so many regular customers and would always refer friends to Tgi Sushi. I guess it's under new ownership. The last few times I did in there the rolls seem to get smaller and smaller. Being a regular customer, and watching the rolls come out from their chefs, it amazes me that when you have a large group of people, the rolls seem a lot larger than if someone is there by themselves???? This has been going on for years and believe me it's not my imagination. I finally figured out that they are trying to attract the people who are not regulars with their larger portions and rolls. As I mentioned, I'm a 24 year regular customer and years back. I would go in there sometimes twice a week. Today I was in there at opening and I was served two rolls that seemed about 1/3 the regular size of what I consider normal Rolls for the $$$ that were given to me on a consistent basis in the past. Being there was no one in the restaurant and the only one chef, I asked him ,Why are your rolls getting smaller??? About five months ago I had a crazy Chris roll. That includes normally a nice piece of avocado in the roll. Amazingly when they served me that roll there was a tiny sliver of avocado. When I asked the sushi chef for some more avocado he gave me a weird look and told me that avocado was expensive???? Are you kidding???? I told the chef as I mentioned, and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about, and then, when I finally confronted him with the inconsistencies that larger groups & probably potential new customers rolls are bigger than the others noticeably. He kind of bowed his head and said if we don't downsize our rolls we have to raise our prices!!!! Needless to say, I explained to him that I would not be back and he's not fooling anyone and he's going to lose a lot of of his longtime customers and referrals from them. So be aware when you go in there that a lot of rolls & portions might be quite larger with bigger pieces of fish and be very inconsistent. .He told me he only works there. Kahuna Sushi is my new spot which is not playing favorites and has consistency in size, portions and quality. So long, Tgi Sushi !!!! Very sad and unfortunate that you can't keep a consistent quality in portions of your food coming out of your kitchen, which I know you guys definitely are playing favorites to certain people.. Tgi Sushi doesn't value their long-term customers. Once they know you're a regular, your rolls will get smaller. I even tried to tip them a little bit more at a certain point and it didn't help. Been coming here for years. My old favorite was the baked scallop roll. My new favorite is the hamachi crudo and tartar. Last night I tried the sweet Suzy too and really enjoyed the sweet roll. They gave us all miso soup and a bowl of edemame to share. It's a small place but we had no issues getting a table on a Tuesday. We did a lot of to go during Covid. Never had an issues with wrong orders and even got a free item once. The yellowtail crudo had nice thick cuts and so much flavor. Agedashi tofu was just ok. Came right before 12noon on a Thursday and was able to get seated quickly. Small restaurant with ~10 seats at the bar and a few tables around. They never filled up the seating, but some people came in for take out orders. The rolls are LARGE - we ordered 4 rolls for the 2 of us... and ended up canceling the last one because we were just too full and couldn't even finish the 3 we had. The sushi chef seemed to know our tummy abilities better than us... so great on his part for letting us know to let him know when we were ready to do #4 instead of making all 4 at once. Have been here for over 10 years. First time getting the wrong to go order. Since I only noted the mistake when I went home, I called to let the restaurant know they gave me the wrong roll. Yet, they insisted I ordered the wrong item. But I saw the receipt listing my items correctly before I pay. Lesson learn, always check if the to go is what you order before leaving the restaurant! Server tells me she will come out and tell me when the order is ready... since the restaurant is so small and no where to sit to wait... I stand directly outside the door... 30 minutes later I go in to ask for the order and it's sitting on the rack. They say they called my phone... which was my home phone... why call a phone when I'm right outside the door. No compensation for waiting an extra 45 minutes... an hour and 10 minutes since the order was placed... but 3 door dash drivers walk in pick up and leave in the time I'm waiting. Overcooked beef teriyaki was like eating beef jerky, chicken teriyaki was bland. Tempura was ok... for $28 for a combo I'd expect better. Definitely will not going back and we'd frequent the restaurant weekly. read more

This spot popped on my radar right before they were shutdown by a fire, after patiently waiting (checking often to see if they were open yet) they finally reopened and I was able to indulge. I've gone twice now, the first time I called in for takeout, and the second I went in and ordered takeout. I liked what I got both times, but was thoroughly impressed by my most recent order. On my last visit I got the sushi combo, which I LOVED. This was 6 pieces of nigiri with choice of 1 of 3 rolls. The fish was super fresh and has been in everything I've tried. I was also surprised to find it came with a salad and miso soup! Not sure what all the fish in the nigiri were, but I was pleasantly surprised to have really enjoyed each one. I wish I knew what they all were, because I want to start ordering them everywhere I go! The Campbell roll and Crazy Chris roll are great, I'd definitely order each of these again. I liked the spicy tuna roll, though a little too spicy for me. The Tekka Maki was also good if you're looking for something lighter. Both times I've gone in the service has been friendly and quick, even if the restaurant is busy. ***3.5 stars*** Expected a bit better from all the raving reviews tbh. I went with the Kristina roll and my friend got the volcano roll. First, I think the menu has a ton of options which is typically great, but I thought the rolls were on extreme ends - either way too extra with ingredients I didn't find appealing for my own personal preference (e.g., macadamia nut sauce) or too minimal with very few toppings. My Kristina roll description mentioned 3 types of fish, and I thought all 3 would be included in each piece. Instead it alternated between the 8 pieces and only had one type of fish on each piece. My friend's Volcano roll had a kick to it from the "spicy sauce", which ended up being sriracha. Pieces were decently sized though! read more

Once we were there we asked if they could do a regular roll and we would pay for them, the lady working there was dismissive and rude. She seemed annoyed that we even asked. They are pricey and what happened to provide great customer service? It looks like most restaurants want to overcharge and be rude and dismissive to the customers because they know that we as the paying consumers are no longer able to complain. We no longer have any power over how we are treated as consumers and paying customers. TGI's does not disappoint in terms of its ambience, service, and portion size. This is a small sushi restaurant with a large menu. It has a sufficient number of options without sauces, perfect for people with health conditions. We ordered the Steven, Tuna Lover, and Hammachi Lover. The rolls were filling and fresh. There is a side of wasabi and ginger with each roll. Usually I have to ask for extra ginger because I run out at other sushi restaurants, but at TGI's, the sides are so generous. They provide edamame and miso soup on the house for all while they are preparing the dishes you ordered. However, I think they should mention this to you when you arrive, because we still had a lot of edamame and miso soup after since I was not able to eat them due to a soy allergy. I've eaten here 3 times now.. twice before covid.. was in the area for my cat's grooming apt and ordered thru Grubhub on Yelp app for take out. Chose the Salmon Lover Roll and it never notified me on the app that it was ready but i went in right after the appt and it was already ready! The salmon was soo soft and melt in ur mouth. Food: We came in around 2:30PM for a late lunch, and the lunch specials were still active. Parking was plentiful. We got the lunch special, which is a 2 item bento for $18. Accounting for inflation, it's a fair price, but not cheap. I believe the same bento is around $26 for dinner. The bento box tasted fresh and their tempura was perfectly crispy. They did give free edamame! These are fun to snack on while you wait for your food. I think we waited over 30 minutes for our food to come out, which would have been fine if it was packed, but it felt a bit long as we were the only patrons there. This place definitely has a local vibe to it, and everyone raves about the sushi, so I'll make sure to come back and try some. I have a feeling my rating will increase once I do! read more
