Let me just say, I walked into Sushi King a humble peasant... and left feeling like a soy sauce-drenched emperor. First off, the sushi was so fresh I swear the salmon winked at me before I ate it. The rolls were perfectly constructed--like little rice-and-seaweed Teslas, engineered for maximum deliciousness and zero guilt (well, until the 8th roll, but that's between me and my waistband). The staff? Absolutely amazing. Friendly, fast, and didn't judge me when I tried to use chopsticks like tiny lightsabers. Even when I accidentally launched a piece of nigiri across the table like a raw-fish missile, they just smiled politely like, "It happens all the time." (It doesn't, I'm just that talented.) The only downside? Now every other sushi place tastes like sadness and regret. Thanks a lot, Sushi King, for ruining all other raw fish experiences forever. Long live the King. read more

Definitely would return. I would not say that it is the best Japanese/asian food that I've ever had, but it is well worth the price. If you want all you can eat, this is the place to go. For dinner it is about $27/person. If you love sushi, you know how easy it is to spend much more than that on sushi for one person. You can get unlimited appetizers, entrees, all kinds of sushi. We had shumai, rice, chicken, and several rolls of sushi. I also like that the entrees come in small servings so that you can try several different things. They've been here for along time. I haven't really consistently eaten here until the last year or so. Food is always good and fast. Staff is polite and helpful. Only downfall are the dinner prices are like $26 a person, and there's better places for that rate. But they deserve a solid rating and are highly supported by the community for good reason. Sushi king was awesome and I don't even like sushi. My husband loved all the rolls he got. I really liked the chicken fried rice and the crab rangoons. I could've eaten 100 of those crab rangoons. I was very disappointed to learn that this restaurant charges children adult prices if they are taller than 54 inches. Height doesn't equal age or appetite, and it feels unfair to ask a 8 - or 9 - year old to pay the same price as a full grown adult because they're tall. The food was okay, but the pricing policy (based solely on principle) really overshadowed this visit. Families should feel welcomed, not penalized for their kids' growth. To make matters worse, the manager even declined to come to our table. I had my child's school ID with picture. Hopefully management reconsiders this practice and takes some training in customer service - that type of dismissive attitude is unacceptable in hospitality. read more

I have been eating at this locations Sushi King for over 10yrs now and this restaurant (this location only) has remained one of the best AYCE sushi's restaurants I have been too. The quality, variety, staff, and everything in between is great and remains consistent which is very refreshing. Appetizers here are super hot and fresh and the salads are cold and pepper tuna (dinner item) and yellowtail jalapeño slices (dinner item) are always savory and flavorful. The sushi is just incredibly fresh every single time I've eaten here and the rolls are beautiful and fresh looking and tasting. My kids love the fried and chicken nuggets they serve as well as the noodles. I've never had a waiter or waitress be rude or impolite and the sushi makers are always smiling when you walk by the sushi rolling area. The desserts that are included are the best way to end a sushi lunch or supper. Light, frozen, and refreshing, and love that they still have dessert included in the price. The price of eating here has remained very reasonable! They have kept the prices one of the best in town, and for the quality and service, you receive, it's a great experience altogether! The food is what you'd expect, pretty straightforward, I will say, I do prefer the one on Lynnhaven for one thing, they peel the shrimp tails when I order the hibachi shrimp, the one here does not, you have to do it yourself. So first of all, it's a party of fifteen but it's not even anywhere near crowded... but we still get stuck in the back of the restaurant. My one star is for the waitress, who was nice enough but a little clueless. Because I'm back on keto, there's almost nothing for me to eat here. They don't have an overwhelming amount of selection and the portions are so tiny, my friends that actually did order them only got two tiny pieces of whatever appetizers they ordered. Ok, so I did not conduct any due diligence before visiting Sushi King. After sitting at our table, we realized that Sushi King is an all-you-can-eat sushi spot. Had I known we were going to an AYCE spot, I would have skipped breakfast so I could have stuffed a couple more rolls down my gullet. Also, I was surprised that the AYCE menu included appetizers and specialty rolls for the $22.99 price. Overall, I thought the quality of the sushi was pretty decent. While it was not the best sushi experience, it is pretty up there, especially for the price. Even with the AYCE deal, Sushi King has a wide array of menu items so even folks who do not like sushi can find several things to eat. Our waitress, Gabby, was pretty on point. She always seemed to drop by the table right as we were finishing up our rolls. Honestly, I do not think that we had to wait more than 2 minutes for her to take the order for our next round of sushi. Overall, the place is pretty clean and did not smell fishy so you should not have any GI issues regarding this too good to be true deal. I hope to return in the near future. read more

This is one of the ACYE sushi place when you think of VA beach. We have been here couple of times and the food has been decent. Today we were here for the lunch, the service was good. We ordered couple of appetizers (note that appetizer is limited like elsewhere). Gyoza was not gyoza they were deep fried dumplings, veg tempura not crispy at all and Spring roll had no meat at all. Don't bother ordering Gyoza, spring roll and veg tempura at all. The signature roll were good but not the best. However, the Saint's roll and Virginia beach roll that our server recommended very pretty good. Beside that, they don't have salad bar but they still have the soup and ice cream station. This is strictly AYCE... the entire menu is part of ayce. The rolls have a bit too much rice and they only offer a couple options with no rice. They don't have too much variety and they lack toppings on the rolls that normally would have them. It wasn't worth paying regular price for a child who they said was 54"- he's not quite that tall yet but he's close to it but they didn't care, they said he had to pay full price. They offer a "self-serve" soup station for Miso- regular and clear broth, with the tofu and scallions on the side. Went to lunch today 05/10/25 sushi king 1920 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23464 and had the worst sushi l have ever had. My wife and I tried to at least eat what we ordered. We both felt sick before we walked out the door. Over all food was poor at best. If you want better sushi go elsewhere. This used to be my favorite restaurant when we lived in Va Beach. I've been back there a handful of times in the past few years and it just gets worse and worse. Tonight I decided I'm done. The food is awful. The service is meh. I ordered a cucumber salad and these massive cucumber slices are just plopped on a plate. They were bad. The edamame were caked in salt. I wanted Gyoza they came out fried. The Kani salad is just crabmeat and spicy Mayo. The sushi roll I ordered was clumsy and thick. The Avocado was brown and old, falling off the roll. The salad bar is still gone. Newsflash, Covid is over. Or lower the price. I heard it was taken over by new owners and if that's true it shows. Just a shame cause it used to be so great! read more

The first and last time I came here was when they first opened and luckily I wasn't Yelping back then because this place would've been banned on my list lol. But-- we were going for a birthday dinner so here we go.... Our trip this time around went way better, but still not sure if I would add this to my list of sushi buffets. Everyone's appetizers didn't come out as hot as we expected, and the buffet area looked as if it wasn't maintained in hours. Even the containers looked like they might've just been re-used from the previous day because they looked dirty, and had dried up food along the rims. It actually killed my appetite a little bit. The miso soup was lukewarm and the crab smelled like it was old. No thank you. So I ordered from the main menu and was glad that I was able to order half portions of some of the rolls. With it being all-you-can-eat, I wanted a variety and if I had 8 pieces of one roll along with a few appetizers, I don't think I could have anymore. This used to be one of our favorite places and I hope it will become one again, but the last 2 to 3 times we have been there the rice has been extremely mushy and not sticky whatsoever:-( the las vegas roll used to be my favorite but the last 4 or 5 times it was very overcooked so I stopped ordering it. The rice ruins the whole taste of the roll. I am sad there's no salad bar anymore but completely understandable in this time that it may be a cost savings. The service is always excellent but the sushi sadly hasn't been the same. We were regulars but may try returning in a couple months to see if things have improved. Still love the atmosphere as well. Update 9/4: We went again last week to give it another chance and sadly, the quality was the same: mooshy warm rice. The sushi used to be so good. I tried some other options but they were ok and I come for the sushi so we will be switching to Sakura and Volcano. I highly recommend the owners try the sushi themselves and train the newer staff. As a sushi enthusiast, I estimate that I have been to around 20 different sushi establishments, but not even the worst of those stoops to the atrocious level of quality served here. The fish was so bad that I had trouble finishing my first plate, and upon finishing my last bite, a horrific aftertaste came upon me, such that I could not contain it. Very good, large venue and very clean. I had some great rolls and great service and will return. I think they need to do better with their soup bar and offer a salad bar too. Additionally the dessert bar with a freezer with frozen popsicles and ice cream cups was kind of basic. But the sushi and other menu items were very tasty. Would probably return. read more

I think the sushi from Wegman's, which is a grocery chain, is actually better than the sushi at Sushi King. The sushi at this restaurant are pretty large and I get the reason; they make them large so you get full faster and don't eat as much, which is crap and tells you all you need to know about this restaurant. The rice was also kind of pasty. The calamari and gyoza dumpling appetizers were really good, as well as the service, but the sushi not so much. There are better sushi restaurants; heck, swing by a Wegman's and get some pretty good sushi to take home and enjoy. read more

Kitchen food is all breading and pastry with maybe a 1/4 tsp of ingredients in the middle (dumplings, spring rolls, etc). Kids wouldnt even eat the chicken nuggets because they were almost all breading. Noodle dishes with chicken tasted like boiled chicken with some sauce on it. Chicken teriyaki tasted like boiled/steamed chicken with a little sauce on it. Curry tasted like peanut butter and maybe curry paste. Sushi was inedible for the most part, packed with rice and mayonnaise. The amount of cost cutting is offensive. An entire staff of children, don't even wanna know who is managing the kitchen.
