We will never go back to this place. We got a small order just so we could try it out. Not many places we're open on a Sunday afternoon. We order 2 albacore, one California roll, spicy tuna roll, and a miso. The miso was pretty good so we had high expectations for the rest of the food. The California roll was soooo bland. They use fake crab meat sticks with a crab meat mixed with Mayo rather than maracapone. I feel like the crab meat stick is like having convenience store sushi or something a kid makes at home. I don't think the rice was sushi rice. It had no vinegar flavor. The albacore was also bland and had no sauce, which is fine since the sauce on California roll was so bland and just tasted like Mayo. As for the spicy tuna roll, we can't comment because they gave us a second order of awful California roll. I can't believe they charged $10 for that awful California roll. read more

The food is alright, but nothing special. They have a nice little patio for pets or outdoor seating. The sushi isn't quite what you expect for a full blown sushi restaurant, this is more just quick rolls and bowls to go. The quality is good and the portions and specials are a good deal. It is a great place for some rolls when your pressed for time or don't want to wait to long. The atmosphere is nice it's a clean place with friendly service. The food is good. More like a fast food place than a traditional sushi spot where you can sit at the bar and watch them make your rolls. This is no knock on the food it is simple and good. Prices are decent and they have some good combo meals. If you want that sushi experience this is probably not right for you. But if you need food and need it now this is not a bad place to eat. I always get the dynamite or the Mexican roll. The dynamite has that extra kick if you want something hot. Udon soup is a family favorite and also the chicken teriyaki bowl. They are always friendly in there and when ever we go and have picky eaters with special orders they get it right the first time. read more

I ordered the chicken teriyaki and live way out of town so there is no easy way of going back if there is a problem. Not sure why other reviews are calling this "fast food" sushi or cheap sushi.. honesty it's only about $2 cheaper than the other local places, not all that much cheaper. That being said, it is "good" sushi- you will be satisfied after eating but this place doesn't have anything unique about its flavors/menu that make it stand out. I have been going to this place 15+ years now and I noticed a couple months ago the staff was all new and I noticed that the condiments were way less than before, and the roll slices were thicker. I went today and I ask for thinner slice and extra wasabi. when I returned to my work I found the slices were thinner but there was only a dab of wasabi on the side of the container. and the salad was only a tiny portion. so i called them to express my concerns. I explained that I can see a difference in the food since it has a new owner, and that the slice was thinner but I had ask for extra wasabi and only got a dab. the gentleman said it was the same owner, and I said that what ever changes they made I can tell things are not the same and that I wasn't happy with the changes and the fact that I did not get my extra wasabi. I have never had that happen I made the call to inform them of my experience so they could improve but instead got the phone slammed in my ear. its sad because I really liked the place for so long and now I can not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I love the food there, but my debit card was charged twice. It may have been a mistake. I understand that but the owner didn't want to fix the problem when I went in the next day. I would never come back. The experience was incredibly unsatisfactory. I got a yellowtail spicy roll and an eel and avocado roll. The eel and avocado roll fell apart when I tried to pick them up with chopsticks. They weren't rolled very tightly. The yellowtail spicy roll tasted like old ingredients were used. By that I mean, the seaweed was very rubbery and hard to digest. The fish smelled off. The spiciness was incredibly mild. But the real kicker was within 10 minutes of arriving home I spent most of my time in the bathroom. I got food poisoning. I felt waves of hot flashes and very, very stomach cramp-y. This was the only thing I had eaten that day so it's what led me to conclude that this was the place that made good use of the porcelain. Will I be back? Heck no. Will I recommend? No. Don't let the impeccable interior fool you. (On a side note, I do not know if this was the manager or not but a man in a pink shirt was floating around the restaurant, but was mainly in the back talking to his staff. During the winter and spring, this place is great. Good sushi. But I wouldn't advise going during the summer or fall when they are unable to keep their fish fresh. The cashiers/ servers go outside for a smoke break but don't wash their hands afterwards. Last time I was there, a cook came out to see "how the food was" but instead of making eye contact, he was looking down the front of my shirt the whole time. I felt violated, me being a minor. Can't get a simple order straight. I didn't want the fake crab meat they use because my wife is seriously allergic to an ingredient in it. They said no problem and would replace it with another fish. Just before the guy made it I confirmed they weren't using the fake crab meat. 20 miles later I get home and found out they screwed it up and put the fake crab meat. How hard can it be? The sushi I did get wasn't that good so I wouldn't try them again anyway. I won't bore you with the details of when I went back for my credit, suffice it to say they weren't service oriented about the whole thing and didn't see fit to keep a customer happy. read more

Just happened to walk in this place from Marriott Courtyard. Blown away by the freshness of the spicy tuna roll. $7.95 great value! Added a teriyaki chicken bowl..loaded with fresh chicken. Highly recommend ..I'll be back on my next visit to Paso Robles. read more

I wish i didn't have to give this place even one star. My daughter and I stopped into this sushi place and were a bit skeptical from the start. There was no sushi bar. It's set up like a fast food restaurant. I did not see a sushi chef and noticed all food preparation is done out of sight of the customers.  All the employees were Hispanic ---which is fine-- but certainly the expectation is an Asian sushi chef preparing sushi in front of customers and adding to the fun of eating out.. We should have left. But we were hungry and it had been ages since we'd had sushi, a family favorite. The woman at the register took our order and it was extremely difficult to understand her.  I wanted ikura and she had no idea what i was talking about, until i said "salmon roe" --which they didn't have. Finally we decided to choose from their list of "specials". The menu seem to only comprise of artificial crab. There was no fresh fish. I'm sure in this case, that's a blessing. We choose two California rolls a shrimp miso soup, 1 soda and 1 saki. Our bill was over $56 and we had to pay for our meal at the time of our order and were also asked for a tip before receiving the food. There was also an additional charge for "table service" which we never received. When our meal showed up i was shocked to see the rolls looked like supermarket sushi. The rice was dry and it was unlike any California roll I've ever tasted. One taste and that was it. It was awful. These rolls were accompanied by COLESLAW. We couldn't eat the food. I don't even like coleslaw and I've never seen it served at sushi restaurants. It was terrible. When we complained we were shocked by the response from the cashier who shouted at us at the top of lungs. When we asked for a refund she refused and told us to leave. We were told to get out or the police would be called. We left. It was quite simply the worst restaurant experience we have ever had. Obviously I do no not recommend this restaurant-- the food served is terrible and is not real sushi and the service is abominable. I left feeling beat up and ripped off. Sushi Kokku is always delicious! I always get their California Roll with extra sesame dipping sauce (trust me it's amazing) and I get a side of tempura fried veggies and shrimp. The food is very fresh and perfectly made, and we have always been served in 5-10 minutes. Even the coleslaw they serve on the side of the California Roll is amazing, and I am super picky about coleslaw! If you want to get a little crazy, I highly recommend the aptly named Crazy Roll. It has spicy crab, spicy tuna, avocado, cream cheese, jalepeno, then the whole thing is friend in tempura and topped with green onions. AH-MAZING. read more
