My husband and I love sushi. We were always looking for a friendly restaurant in Westchester where we can go and have amazing sushi in.. And we finally found all we were looking for in sushi Mike's. We drive quite far, however, it is very worth it. We always sit by the sushi bar and have sushi chef by the name of Neil make our specialty rolls (all the chefs are nice and make good sushi, but Neil is the best). We ordered from here (we have not been to dine in the restaurant yet) and in general, were pleased! Chirashi dinner was fresh and a nice variety. The chicken teriyaki was good, but not my favorite sauce (it was reminiscent of a gravy, which is probably preferable for some, but not for me), but it was still pretty flavorful. Yes, it's overrated, but that doesn't mean it isn't good. Let me explain: I have found the fish to be fresh. I have found the food to be tasty. I have found the sushi to be creative... To a point... When you really start reading the menu, you start to notice that the rolls are all very samey. Almost as if many of them have the same ingredients but the order has been jumbled on the menu. Mike is awesome. The wait staff does their best given the crowds and the fire hazard that is their table layout. What's with this place? Sushi is delicious, but do they have real hours? Second time I came at 1215 for lunch and they weren't open until after 1230. I don't live local and come by when I'm close by, but don't have the time to wait for 30 minutes past when they are "supposed" to be open. I went here for my birthday a couple days ago. My boyfriend made a reservation, which I'm glad we did because it gets busy fast. The food came out lightning fast (we ordered three courses and were out in an hour) and the food was absolutely delicious. Probably the best sushi I've ever had outside of NYC. I only give it 4 stars though because our waitress was sort of rude, and not very attentive. She never said a word to us, and would quickly walk away before we were even finished talking. Maybe I caught her on a bad day. To be fair, I had to flag down another waiter and waitress a couple of times, and they were both very pleasant. This place is really great! I was in the area on business and like to eat light for dinner, and found this (by randomly searching) on yelp. That being said, I was extremely impressed with the quality and taste of the food, and the prices are very reasonable. Westchester Co. can be very overpriced but Mike's wasn't. Normally I get sushi but I ended up with the steamed shrimp dumplings and one of the chicken dishes (forgot the name but it was the spicy one). I like things very spicy and most restaurants when they advertise something is spicy it usually isn't, but I was pleasantly surprised at the chicken. While I would have liked it more spicy I realize not everyone has my burnt tastebuds! That being said, I give the place a thumbs up and will be back. One piece of advice--the parking can be very challenging given this is a small town. If you find a spot and have to walk a little bit do so. read more

The place is good. No doubt it's very expensive but you can tell with each and every bite you are getting a quality product. I cannot say that about the bland and watery garlic broccoli that we ordered as an appetizer. Definitely a let down there. The service is quite good. Very attentive and fast. Purpose of visit. Casual Saturday night dinner with friends. We were introduced to this place by friends who claimed the sushi was just as good as some of the places in the city (sushi by Gari, tomoe) being some of our favorites. It was nice intimate place. Not very large with about 15 tables. We ordered omakase putting our trust in our friend's recommendation. We were not disappointed. The sushi came out quickly. Our favoristes included the toro, maguro and scallop (hotate). Sushi kept coming out and we were definitely satiated by the end of the meal. Two bottles of saki kept us going and we practically closed out the restaurant. We will definitely go back. It is a good alternative if you are tried of going to Haiku in bronxville or eastchester. read more

Yes, definitely one of the best sushi restaurants you can find outside NYC. Love some unusual flavor combination, especially French Roll. What I like about Sushi Mike's is that it is consistently good. We are dining there once/two times per month and yet to be disappointed. They have nice wine/beer selection and attentive staff. Big Mike has quirky personality, but it just adds certain character to the place. Plus you can see that he is really proud of his restaurant and loves chatting up with his customers. The only setback is that the place is tiny and if you have no reservations it can take ages to get a table on busy Friday/weekend evening. Mike, you need to expand :). read more

Tried this place out for the first time based upon the strong reviews. We started with the spicy edamame, which was good. That was followed by three specialty roll, a couple standard rolls and two pieces of sushi. All the rolls were good, none stood out as magnificent. The specialty roll list features a lot of eel, which I avoid, so that may contribute. The service was attentive. The decor is unique and the upstairs and downstairs and outdoor seating would likely each provide a different ultimate experience. Seen better days at this old favorite of ours. We use to eat here regularly until about 3 years ago. Since we're a bit closer to Mamaroneck, we became regulars at Ginbao, and then Zenzo Sushi (the better of the two). We ordered sushi for dinner at Sushi Mike's.. The slices were small and somewhat tasteless; and looked and tasted like other local sushi places. Gone is the day of going to this place and getting your moneys worth. My wife said that Sushi Mike's isn't as clean as it once was. The carpet is old and worn. I think that Mike is 'running on fumes' these days. One final point, I remember that we always had to wait to get in. During our dinner visit, they had plenty of tables available. Maybe that's the book the speaks volumes. read more

Good sushi if you're a gringo. Maybe it's just me, but I'm a bit of a sushi purist and I feel like their concoctions remind me of an asian rice burrito at times. I'm a believer in the simplicity of fresh ingredients, so I obviously don't need to have gobs of mayonnaise, seaweed and garnishing on my food. However, there food is very good and it's a quaint little restaurant with good service.
