I've always loved Sushi Mike's - although I tend to order the same things over and over again. I can't help that; I know what I enjoy. I Love their Miso Soup and their California rolls. My husband loves the spicy Tuna. I will write again when I try different dishes. But for now I am very satisfied with my favorites! The taste is always fresh and flavorful and the presentation is always pretty! The prices are a bit steep for the amount of food served but I have always enjoyed the quality. The sushi here is SO MUCH the best sushi in Westchester that I can hardly believe someone had the guts to open a sushi restaurant on the same street...makes no sense. All the chef specialty rolls are divine. The fish is the freshest. All the food is great. Mike's special shrimp tempura is a favorite in my family. After Sushi Mike's you will have a hard time eating other sushi, no joke. Their online take out system works perfectly, too. Only thing is the restaurant is a little cramped for my tastes. Big disappointment... I stopped by late and tired after work to pick up a $160.00 order my wife placed only to get home and she tell me we're missing part of our order! She called and was told to come get remaining order and some money- reimbursement. I was happy thinking they were doing the right thing since I had to get dressed, drive approximately 15 minutes to the business, return home knowing everyone would finish eating whatever food was previously brought home! When I went there to pick up the food, the woman played dumb saying she could only give me the food or the money back. She offered me some seaweed nonsense she had sitting on the counter! I told her I was annoyed that due to their negligence my dinner and Friday evening was now ruined... needless to say I opted for the food begrudgingly and vowed to boycott the business. You can't mess up an order and expect someone drive back and not be compensated for the inconvenience! What did the restaurant learn from messing up the order? Not a thing... A lot of people love this place. Owner is friendly/personable and that is important to many. I find it acceptable in a pinch. "Interesting" "creative" rolls, but on whole it's your basic True World/moonie fish cut by laborers. Anything you get at this place is excellent! The freshest, tastiest sushi I've had outside Japan. Small restaurant so book ahead of time if you can, otherwise there is not much space to stand and wait. Owner (Mike) is a great guy who can often be seen around the tables talking to diners. I came to Sushi Mikes on my lunch break, and ordered a Fire Dragon Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll with a cup of Miso Soup. The service was good and the staff was friendly, but the food wasn't anything to write home about, and certainly not for the $30 they charged me. The fish was flavorless and bland, the tempura shrimp limp and soggy. Not worth the money. Next time, I'll stick with Sushi Niji. read more

This place is me and my girlfriend's go-to sushi place when we want to go out. I am a total sushi purist so I only order pieces, but when I have tried the rolls I have found that they are good quality and pretty creative too. The pieces are a decent size and very fine quality. The only time the pieces were even close to mediocre was when I went in the middle of the week on one occasion. Other than that one time, I have never had a less than superb meal. In terms of price, I really don't understand why people here are complaining about the price. The prices are comparable to almost every other sushi restaurant in Westchester and considering the quality of the fish, Mike's could probably charge more if it wanted to. Sushi is fine, nothing to travel outside of your own town for (seriously, I bet the restaurant down the block is just as good). What really tastes foul is the inaccurate online menu and the serious overpricing on basic items. The menu claims their noodle dishes come with soup and salad. Be warned, they do not. Of course no one on staff will tell you this as they take your $15 for some noodles, lots of shredded cabbage, a few carrots and some snow peas. That's it, because while apparently the dish is *supposed* to include two pieces of sushi, if you order the vegetable option (which is about $1 cheaper than the meat/fish options) the staff will just assume you don't want the sushi and give you nothing instead. read more

I recently ate at Sushi Mikes with some friends from Dobbs Ferry. This was my second visit here - I last visited a few years back. Sushi was still quite good but it isn't inexpensive. The place was busy and the servers seemed a bit harried. The one thing that did bother me on this visit was the lighting...or the lack of it. Why is the restaurant so dark?
