My wife and I have been coming here for years. They made many upgrades to both the exterior and the interior of the restaurant. We love portable COVID-19 dividers at the sushi bar. Service was excellent. Waitress was attentive and I believe it was the owner, if I'm not mistaken, that was checking up and making sure we were happy while also entertaining the kids a bit. I really like the to-go containers for the udon and ramen. Instead of the plastic quart container that most places will use for soups or saucy dishes, they use this double layered container, with the soup on the bottom and the noodles on the removable top layer. The noodles aren't soggy, and it is so much easier to store/pack. It's such a simple solution that more restaurants should use. Anyways, there is an extensive menu if you don't want sushi or ramen. A very solid place with a great price point , but not "amazing" enough so that I'll trouble myself to go out if my way..so I can't quite give 5. But the price and choice of menu is so good, and it's close to other places I frequent (H Mart, Marriott, Korean hair salon..) A friend of mine recommended this place (she prefers it over a few other highly rated sushi places on Yelp). I went with my husband and son, and we ordered quite a few things. Favorites: Chirashi delux (I wish it had 1-2 more kinds of fish, but it was still very fresh and we'll presented. Mackerel was the best), salad dressing, miso soup, black cod with miso that came in the "Lady Dinner" set Good: toro temaki (although it was a bit sloppily made), chawan mushi and agedashi tofu in the Lady Dinner. Tonkotsu ramen was pretty decent, considering the price ($12) and the fact this is not a ramen place Ok: fried chicken and meatballs, mini chirashi Our server was very nice and helpful, but it was busy and our dishes came out a little out of order. Overall it's a very nice neighby place with many things to choose from, and we liked a lot of what we ordered. And the price point is great - maybe not great for Atlanta? Overall...yummy and filling!! One of the few AUTHENTIC Japanese restaurants that I know of in the metro Atlanta area. A friend's mom told me about this place and how it gets her mark of approval as she herself had been on a search throughout the Atlanta area for a good Japanese restaurant (moved to GA 5yrs ago from Japan). At the far end of a strip mall, my sister and I decided to check it out for our lunch dates since we were in the area. Service: a nice old lady was the first to greet and show us to our table. It was pretty busy for lunch time so that was an indication to us for how good the food was going to be. Our server was the same lady to sit us down. She was sweet and didn't overcrowd our table. Near the end it did take her a while to come back to give us our check, but only because another rush happened to come in and she became occupied. I happened to get a lunch set that came with dessert and my sister didn't, but she still brought out cake and coffee for her on the house. Food: I got the Lady Lunch Set A and my sister happened to just get a sashimi set since she wasn't too hungry. The pieces were a little smaller than what she was used to, but the fish was fresh and beautifully presented. My lunch set came with a lot and definitely filled me up. Some lunch sets, not all, come included with dessert and coffee. Which is a nice touch that not many restaurants do, so we were definitely impressed by that. There were your basic teriyaki meats type options on the menu which, I think is there for those individuals that got dragged out for sushi. But most of the menu caters towards the most avid of sushi lovers. 5/5- I enjoyed my lunch set and the service was incredibly friendly. It is a bit out of my way to drive all the way here just for sushi, but if I happened to be in the area again I would definitely want to stop by and get my sushi fix. read more

A total hidden gem in Norcross. Sushi Mito has been in this small shopping strip off of Spalding Dr and Holcomb Bridge Rd for many years. We've been coming here for years. Staff is super friendly and food comes out fairly quickly without compromising freshness and beautiful plating. The interior is pretty snug but the style is perfect. It's cozy, stylish, and love how some booths are sectioned off. I also like the artwork on the wall. The sushi bar is beautifully set up as well. Love all the variety of food options they provide especially for their Izakaya food (tapas style). These are great dishes to share so you can try a bunch of different types of food as well as ones you can order just for yourself. Love how they have pictures of every dinner or tapas option on the menu. Their sushi is very fresh and they give generous sized sushi rolls which I appreciate. I'm not talking about more rice to filling ratio...it's a good balance between the two. Also love their lunch specials/combos/bento boxes! Generous portion and good options for the people (like myself) that like to have a little of a lot of things. Definitely check Sushi Mito! I can't believe I'm sharing one of my favorite gems. :). Wow! Our friends told us about Sushi Mito, and met us there for dinner last night. It was fantastic! This place now ranks among the top tier of my favorite Atlanta restaurants. We ordered a variety of different dishes - bluefin tuna sushi platter (incredible!), grilled black cod, sardines, small shrimp in the shells, assorted sashimi platter, grilled yellowtail collar, salmon skin hand roll, aji, a rainbow roll, and other dishes I can't remember at the moment. Every bite was exquisite, and we couldn't stop eating, going way beyond the point when we were stuffed. So good!!! Not only was the food excellent, but the staffers were very attentive and friendly. First, a disclaimer. This would be a 4 if they had brown rice and smaller manageable rolls. As is, I'd give them 3.5 stars. I decided to check it out after reading all of the positive reviews and for the most part, I agree. The menu is huge, the setting is nice, and the service is friendly. I also appreciated our server's (Hendrix) menu knowledge. I asked if they had lychee liquor as I was craving a lychee martini and he whipped one up in no time. For the app, I tried the grilled squid and although it was good texture wise, it was lacking in flavor. For my dinner I went with the Happy roll sans avocado and a few of sashimi pieces. The roll was ridiculously huge in diameter; no way could you put one piece in your mouth. Made for an awkward experience. The sashimi was good however. Have been coming here for like 20 years! My whole family loves. Everything is excellent, tasty and well-portioned, plus the ambiance is much nicer than other sushi places. I lovvve getting a nice big private booth for family or group dinners. They also have reservable small private room with long table that we used for a birthday dinner. The cold sake is soooo good. They will even let you buy the (giant) bottle and store it for you to use when you return! I love the squid with garlic butter (I don't know if that is the name?), yellow tail, agadashi tofu (omg yum).... Best in Dunwoody/Sandy Springs and not everyone in the more western part of Sandy Springs knows about it. The sushi as fresh, delish, the service fast, staff friendly, HUGE HUGE MENU, I don't know how they do it (binder style with laminated pgs)! This is a must try, great sushi restaurant. My favorite thing about Sushi Mito is that the inside has a nice ambiance. The lights are dim and there are private booths to sit at. I thought the interior was very nice. We didn't try much but what we did try was good! We tried the Mai Tai and a pink drink that I forgot the name of (maybe Tokyo Blossom?) but they were really good. I tried the Rainbow Roll, which is a basic but it was good. Not the best I've tried, but solid. Service was quick and attentive. I also think their menu was beautiful with full color pictures for dishes. There were a lot of options to choose from as well! This is tucked into the corner of a plaza but plazas do have easy parking lots out front. I think this could be a really nice date night spot. read more

It's hard to find really good Japanese restaurants in Atlanta, but Sushi Mito is the real deal. I came here after a visit back home and my bff wanted to take me out for lunch. One of the things that we both love is their lunch special. I loved it so much that I brought my parents back here a second time. We shared most of everything but this was mostly from my order (Lady Bento) with tempura appetizer: Tempura Appetizer: PROS: - good quantity, definitely shareable for the table or to share as an accompaniment to your individual bento if it doesn't have tempura - came out hot, but not oily: meaning that it was left to dry slightly after the deep fryer but not long enough where it got cold - good flavor, crispy breading (not soggy) CONS: - none Lady Bento PROS: - good assortment, nice balance of vegetables - well balanced flavor and not overcooked side dishes - sashimi was great, fresh. It wasn't melt-in-your-mouth good but it was good for Atlanta - large quantities of each individual side - mackeral was huge, not overly seasoned - sushi pieces were also very good, well proportioned in terms of fish-to-rice ratio CONS: - mackerel was slightly overcooked...just a tad bit dry - skin on mackerel was not as crispy as I would like it Overall, I really like this place. Great food. However, in recent visit, the price of sweet shrimp sashimi went insane. On the sushi menu, sashimi is 3pcs per order, so we wrote one for salmon and sweet shrimp (one each). 3 pcs salmon and 1 pc sweet shrimp show up on out table. By the time check comes, it's $15 per shrimp. We used to 3 pcs per order, not a $12 per shrimp. Thanks Sushi Mito for serving us all these years. This is your typical neighborhood sushi joint. They have friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Came around peak dinner time with a group of friends and waited ~20 minutes for a table. Ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and an Alaskan Salmon roll (recommend by my friend). The ramen is a good generous portion size, meat & soft boiled egg were good, but I felt the broth was a bit too light for Tonkatsu flavor compared to other restaurants. The roll however was fresh and very good quality, would definitely recommend. Overall if you're in the area this is a decent place to stop by. We had dinner here one evening - ordered a selection of Sashimi: Salmon, smoked salmon, Tuna, and Hamachi, Spider rolls, plus a cup of Miso soup, and a glass of water and a Japanese Lager. We shared a bowl of Edamame. All of the Sashimi and rolls were very good. Delicious! After dinner, we split a round of warmed Sake. The Sake was also good - I'm no expert on Sake... The food was very good - the service was also good - but a little to attentive. Our server checked in on us a little to often - slightly annoying. Great authentic fresh food , sashimi; very attentive service, not to mention the sushi chefs and staffs in the kitchen. So I typically pride myself in knowing the best dish to order at restaurants (thanks to Yelp) but this time my family got me beat. Sushi Mito's menu even has detailed pictures and I still made the least impressive choice! My parents recommended the place - props to the parents. My dad got the Tsuru bento box and my mom ordered the katsu don and the treasure hunter roll for us to share; all three choices are amazing!!! I went with the Arizona roll (it was a very typical sushi roll) and I ended up mooching off of my parents' food. My sister had one of the ramen soups which she liked but said it was rather bland. Service was attentive and the host cracked a lot of jokes...always a plus. Update: - Three fish don: So good!! 9 fresh sashimi pieces over rice. Of course sashimi is pricy but they include a salad, miso soup, steamed egg and side of seaweed. - Katsu don: I think I had some serious food envy again. We always get our usual "Lady's lunch" set, which is incredibly generous for a very fair price - chirashi, grilled fish, soup, salad, agedashi tofu and a few sides. Overall, I would give the food a solid 3.5 stars. But the recent visit was a bit disappointing based on a bizarre interaction with our waitress...read on if you're interested. The first few times we came, the lunch set always came with ice cream, the most recent time, it didn't...so I inquired out of curiosity. Instead, got a weird response that went something like -- "well, isn't that too much?" and "well, there's cake!" (a small petit fours that was always included) -- implying that either I'm a glutton or I have memory problems is not cool. As an avid fan of Japanese cuisine, Sushi Mito has somehow managed to fly under my radar until this year, probably because it's in Norcross. That changed thanks, once again, to Yelp. According to one server, Cheng, Mito has been open for over 10 years. "It's never too late" to become a fan, he says. I agree. Sushi Mito is located in a strip mall near the intersection of Spalding Dr. and Holcomb Bridge Rd. The inside of the restaurant is Japanese authentic, the best part being the sushi bar that has an izakaya-style (Japanese bar-restaurant) sake menu setup above. Mito has quite the extensive sake list. Each bottle is proudly shown on display below its menu descriptor at the bar. The extensivity doesn't stop at sake. The food menu is elaborate and overwhelming. Not reading too much about this restaurant going in for the first time, I expected a menu filled mostly with sushi. That wasn't the case. Sushi Mito has a full-fledged izakaya menu with all sorts of Japanese foods including, but not limited to, small vegetable plates, kushiyaki and yakitori (meat, seafood, and veggie skewers), fresh and grilled seafood, chicken and pork dishes like tori tatsuta age (like chicken kara age) and tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet), noodles (ramen, soba, udon), teriyaki, tempura, and bento boxes. Oh yeah, and they have sushi, including different varieties of chirashi (sashimi on top of rice). Needless to say, if you don't know what you want, it can be very tough to choose. Everything looks appealing and there are a multitude of options. From an izakaya perspective, I think Shoya Izakaya may be the only worthy Atlanta area comparison in terms of menu depth and breadth. Note izakaya-style dining could be considered Japanese tapas -- a lot of small plates, ideal for sharing. I've tried a varied sampling of the menu up to this point and would recommend just about everything I've tried. There are still plenty of items I would love to try and plan to in the future. These include the tonkatsu, ramen, and nigiri. I'll update my review once I've had those. Here's what I've tried so far: Sake: Itami - ultra dry, light-bodied, note of citrus Izakaya dishes: Wakamesu - wakame seaweed with vinegar dressing Calamari Frito - fried calamari Ika Shogayaki - sauteed squid with ginger Kushiyaki skewers: Gyu fillet - marinated beef Chicken skin Yakitori - marinated chicken Shiitake - mushrooms Butabara miso - pork belly, miso-flavored Whole scallop Sushi: Crispy Spicy Tuna Roll - fried tempura batter, mayo, smelt roe, sliced tuna Alaskan Salmon Roll - California roll topped with salmon Arizona Roll - yellowtail, avocado, cream cheese, topped with smelt roe Fresh wasabi sauce - made from real wasabi (not the green manufactured paste) Desserts: Fried green tea ice cream Mango mousse Presentation is beautiful and superb. I love the dishware. Many of the foods have their own unique plates. If you order sake cold, the sake comes in a groovy, form-follows-function bottle that has a special compartment just for ice. Other local sushi restaurants use bottles like this, such as Taka in Buckhead. Edamame, boiled and lightly salted fresh soybeans, are complimentary and are served in individual bowls. The Itami sake is smooth and has great taste. Different types of seaweed are available. Wakamesu is the darker colored (green) seaweed which is soaked in a vinegar sauce and topped with sesame seeds. Very good. Calamari Frito is pretty much standard fried calamari, but a little different because the squid pieces are bigger and the dish comes with a lot of scallions. I found the batter to be a bit soggy and not so crispy. The Ika Shogayaki is neatly sliced and you can see right down the center of the squid. It comes with ginger mustard sauce. Satisfying texture and flavor. You can still see the original squid skin on the outside. Order one of the kushiyaki sets if you want to sample a lot of the skewers. The meats are marinated well, tender, and flavorful. The chicken skin skewer is an odd one. It's dry and crunchy and is similar to pork rinds. The scallops are hearty and plump. The sushi is generally quite fresh, though I really need to try the nigiri. They have fresh wasabi. Hayakawa serves it too, but in a different form. Mito's fresh wasabi is in sauce form. Heck, it almost resembles a green salsa. It's chunky and runny. I'm not sure if Mito makes the sauce from scratch or if they order it pre-made. Either way, try it if you've never had fresh wasabi before. It's unlike the typical green paste. The desserts are good. It's hard to go wrong with green tea ice cream. The fried batter shell is topped with chocolate sauce and surrounded with whipped cream. The mango mousse is dense. Service is excellent and the food comes out unexpectedly fast. Sushi Mito is the only restaurant I've seen so far to have a "sanitary door opener" inside the restrooms. You use your wrist/forearm to pull the door open. read more
