I forgot which rolls were to the left but I'm pretty sure it was the drop kick and Mona Lisa.

We love coming here to eat. It's like the only sushi spot in Fernley. It's close by and it always tastes amazing. The restaurant is always clean and their service is quick. Even when the place seems busy! I wish they did open earlier on Sundays though, but to be honest - I'm happy they're even open at all on a Sunday so I'm not deducting any points away for that! They had a new host/waitress there when we went and she was really nice. It's not surprising that we will be back. :)

Should be chicken Katsu, but it's just chicken with the skin falling off, and pretty tasteless

I ordered chicken Katsu, and it came out looking like picture below, the skin just kept falling off the chicken , I told my server about it, and he just looked at me and asked me was I done with my empty beer bottle, didn't even comment on what I said. I won't be coming back here.

Ordered the Godzilla Fried Habatchi, Dragon roll and The High Roller. Paired with the Japanese cucumber salad and some mussels. Everything was absolutely amazing. The staff was polite and quick. Nice elevator music playing like some jazz to chill with. Our favorite was the Godzilla roll and the mussels. For the first time coming it wasn't bad. I suggest anyone to come here especially on a date.

Updated as of 08/22/26-…read more Gave this place another try. My experience this go round was disappointing. Came with my hubby and our toddler. We were sat quickly, we ordered shortly after looking over the menu. We were told the sushi would be 20-30 minutes because they had one chef and a big party sat down before us, not a problem we understood and ordered anyway. I got my son an order of plain chow mein .... It was very bland and the noodles were overcooked. Luckily my toddler ate it anyways. My hubby and I both got their sushi dinner special A which was 2 rolls an order of nigiri and came with soup, edamame, or salad so I got the miso soup and a side of edamame and my hubby got miso soup. We got waters to drink. And their water tasted weird like dirty tap water or something so we were gonna order sodas and a juice for our son.... Waited for our server to come to the table so we could order.... He didn't come check on us at all. So I went up to their to go counter and ordered our drinks. They were out of apple juice so we chose orange juice for our little and it was lukewarm. He didn't drink it. We got our appetizers... the edamame tasted like dirt, covered in table salt. The miso soup was actually delicious but the cups were so full they were spilling. My son spilled my husbands soup all over so we cleaned it up, had to go back to the to go counter to ask for more napkins.... Because our server never came back to check on us. We got it cleaned up so crisis averted... Our sushi came out and one of the rolls I ordered was HUGE so much rice! The smaller roll I ate one piece and the crystal shrimp in it tasted like it was cooked awhile ago maybe that morning I'm unsure but it tasted off and wasn't a good thing. I didn't eat anymore of that roll as my instinct told me not to. The other roll was good, the nigiri was good but lacked flavor. I got the upside down shrimp with crab. My hubbys nigiri looked old and smelled off so he didn't eat his yellowtail. The rolls he got were small and again lacked flavor. We waited and waited for our server to come back to the table and it took about 20 minutes for him to come back- bring us 2 boxes and the check. No refills, no taking or any dishes. So we paid and left. We clean up after our kiddo when we go out and do our best to ensure the table is easy to clean for them. But we will not be back. It's a shame because it used to be so delicious and the staff used to be so nice! Unsure what happened but if you are looking to go I would recommend going elsewhere. Not worth the drive or hype these days.

Well slap my a** and call me Betty! Haha I have been eating all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi in Reno…read morefor over 10 years now and this is the first place I've been able to actually taste how good the fish actually is. To be clear, this is not an AYCE sushi restaurant, and there's other offerings besides sushi including ramen, salad, steaks, and various teriyaki plates. Apparently the food is hand selected by the owner, and helped prepared by the Japanese wife in the kitchen. From what I understand, the line cooks follow traditional Japanese ways including only being able to make a sushi roll after being a line cook for 5 years. As for the food itself, these are the things I've tried: -Maguro (tuna) sashimi: absolutely delightful -Sake (salmon) nigri: really good -Unagi (Eel) sashimi: my favorite nigri, the unagi was so tender it was falling apart. Best I've ever had. -Kazo sake: the combination of all the textures and flavors made this one of my top choices. Think of eating it like a deviled egg, if you're able to fit the whole thing in your mouth, you can taste all the flavors at once. If not, it's still tasty and you can taste the pieces individually! -Mt Rose roll: the textures and flavors were really good! -Fire Ocean roll: Absolutely delicious, and spicy! -Spicy garlic edamame: I wasn't impressed. No crisp on the garlic. The garlic, sweet chili sauce, and edamame felt like they were all cooked separately and combined on the serving plate. The garlic seemed like it was from a jar, and the sauce from the bottle. -Tempura banana with strawberry mochi: we devoured this, the chocolate sauce made the combination of flavors pleasant. I wish the tempura banana had a bit more going on - more crisp and less batter. -Wasabi: the wasabi actually tastes real and not like horseradish!!! It blends into the soy sauce beautifully and it's creamy. Drinks -Sapporo with the Junmai Ginjo sake: light and crisp, really yummy -Honey Citron tea- delightful Service While our service was generally pleasant, we did end up going at least 20 mins at one point without any word from our server while waiting on food. We didn't mind, and it was nice to not be rushed, but some others may want to feel more taken care of. My only slight complaint is that I didn't keep my chopsticks after dinner for our dessert, but we just ended up sharing the one pair we had. It would have been nice to be reminded to keep my chopsticks or to be offered another pair. Ambiance The space is relatively large and Miyabi expanded years ago to accommodate a larger dining area. The only slightly confusing part - I wish it was more clear which door you enter from. The only indicator is the Open sign on the left hand set of doors. All in all, I really enjoy and appreciate good quality food, and while you are paying the price for it here, it's justified. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Sadly there were too many flies landing on my food and baby, I don't want to give them another try. The only good item I've found on their menu is the Mt Rose roll and edamame (for the black salt). Everything else has been a disappointment. The Sake bowl was not worth the price AT ALL. The tonkatsu was probably the driest I've ever had in my life. The lobster roll was also a rip off; it's covered in sauce so you can't even taste the lobster.

What I really like here is the nigiri, especially the salmon. For all-you-can-eat, the portions are perfect: a little rice with a nice amount of fresh fish. If I were paying by the piece, I might want them bigger, but for AYCE, this is exactly how I like it because I can try more things. The service is always quick and friendly. They don't have the biggest selection, but everything they offer is good. The Playboy sounds a little funny, but it's really tasty if you like a little spice. On this most recent visit, the hamachi (yellowtail) nigiri was incredibly smooth and buttery and fell apart in my mouth- probably some of the best I've ever had! If you like raw fish with added heat and crunch, I highly recommend the Cherry Blossom Roll & Playboy Roll, as both will hit the spot. The service is good and quick. I think the staff can recognize when patrons are seasoned AYCE sushi eaters like we were and turn up the hustle (in a good way), and I also overheard our server patiently explaining how AYCE works at the table next to us. The place itself definitely leans more fast-casual/no fuss as far as typical sushi restaurants. It's clean with plain walls/no decor, and all seating is all 4-top tables and bar seating. There is a warmth to the simplicity, it's certainly not a bad thing and I'll continue to enjoy it with every subsequent visit.

OK, the Sushi... So freaking good! I was amazed at how each roll truly feels individual, they are not using a premade base roll and putting a random fish and sauce combination on top of it and renaming it. The amount of fish in each bite was generous, flavor combinations were amazing, and I truly felt like this was a different sushi experience from any other that I have had recently. We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. One thing that surprised me was the Kani (crab). I ordered it wondering if it would be real crab or imitation. It was real! I was happy and surprised. I ate my fill. So let's get the cons out of the way first. My son and I sat at the bar, and on the big screen against the wall, CNN FAKE NEWS was playing. Personally irritating, and I don't think they should be showing news shows from any side at a restaurant. We were in during lunch hours, and towards the end of our visit we were the last party there. That being said, clearing out our empty plates and getting refills wasn't very expeditious. I sat probably for about 15 minutes with an empty soda cup. I would understand if it was busy and at night. Disappointingly, lunch has its own separate menu, and you can't order dinner rolls for the lunch price, like you can at Ohana, Hinoki and other places I've been to and frequented. Now that, that's out of the way let's get to the rest of the review. I'm guessing the owners, we're super nice. We were greeted right as we walked in the door and chose our seats. Victor was our sushi chef. Great guy, and turns out some great sushi. The next time I go I will be sure to sit with him, but the other two Cooks were nice also. The entire restaurant, especially the bar area was spotless! I can tell they all take pride in what they do. My sin and I ordered probably 65% of the lunch menu. The quail egg shooters, whcih we ordered about a dozen total were SUPER good, and served in a modified Oriental soup "spoon" instead of a shot glass. Sort of awkward to eat, but doable and tasty. My personal favorite (lunch) roll was the "Crazy Dream" roll. SO many different flavor profiles. They had unique takes on some of the nigiri and appetizers, like the 'butterfly' and the tempura Jalapeno opposed to other sushi joints. So all in all, it was good enough for me to go back and give the dinner menu a try. The same woman was also our waitress, and it was obvious she was trying to do everything herself. She was waiting on about six tables while constantly yelling at the sushi chefs, the kitchen staff, and another employee. Unfortunately, she brought that same loud, frantic energy to every interaction with customers, which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. The food was disappointing. It lacked flavor, and the menu felt like it was trying to do too much. Being both a sushi bar and a hibachi restaurant seemed to hurt the overall quality. Two of us ordered the all-you-can-eat option, which ended up being a big mistake. Between the bland food and the slow service, we lost our appetites before we could really enjoy the meal. One final warning: check your bill carefully. We were a party of four, but we were automatically charged gratuity even though the menu states that gratuity is only added for parties of six or more. That was frustrating and should be corrected.
