Seeing some of these reviews, I was a little scared to come in. But me and my dad were starving and we loveee sushi, so this is where we ended up. We walk in and get seated very quick by a tall gentleman, who was quick to get us our drinks and take our orders. Before even looking at the menu, the first thing noticed was how beautifully decorated the place was. I loved the calm quiet music and dim lights compared to some other restaurants and could not stop mentioning how gorgeous it all was. Again, the gentleman helping us was very polite and was seen keeping up with the lobby very well throughout our visit. Lastly, portions did not disappoint for the price! The food was amazing! And my waitress was such a delight. Even the female sushi chef, though she looked kind of cold and reserved, made delicious food. My complaint is with the management! I could literally overhear the male owner basically threatening his waitress from my table. If that was me? I'd never stand for it. You should be ashamed of yourself man. Do you think they like working for minimum wage under you?! Probably not! Either give them a raise or don't be surprised when they quit and leave your business to fail. We arrived and got seated fairly quickly, before we were sat we were asked "all you can eat or à la carte?" We said all you could eat. We were handed a one sided menu and saw many people who ordered à la carte had a huge menu. The options for rolls were awful and EVERYTHING was packed with rice. Mt boyfriend loves all the raw sushi and couldn't stomach half of the stuff that came out. We waited forever for our rolls and were airways feeling full by the appetizers. And they charge $1 for every piece you don't eat, although it's mostly rice. I also watched a female "chef" be very rude to one of the servers, treating her like she was stupid. I was so looking forward to the dynamite roll but it was so disappointing, mostly rice with seaweed wrap, fish and sliced peppers, no sauces or toppings. Reminded me of grocery store sushi! DO NOT RECOMMEND and will NEVER go back. Two other parties left as well, one before us and one entered after I left. Talk about not caring about business on a Friday night; especially when there are minimal options and no other sushi restaurants. Twice now if you arrive slightly after 730pm even on a Friday night - they will tell you they are closing. The last time awhile back they told us last seating was 745pm and pretty much dismissed us. Tonight they said the Resturant is closing in 25 minutes. So I asked if we place our order before 25 minutes is that ok ? OR do we have to be finished eating in 25 minutes. The response was, well ... it'll be kinda weird since the Resturant will be closing and I CANT guarantee you will get what you order ! I said then you should change your hours and not say you are open til 8pm. Especially when their physical signage by the entry door says 830pm. We love coming here to eat. It's like the only sushi spot in Fernley. It's close by and it always tastes amazing. The restaurant is always clean and their service is quick. Even when the place seems busy! I wish they did open earlier on Sundays though, but to be honest - I'm happy they're even open at all on a Sunday so I'm not deducting any points away for that! All You Can Wait Sushi (And Wait. And Wait. And Wait.) We walked into Sushi Moto on a Thursday night as a party of five and found the place completely empty. In hindsight, this was not "good luck," it was foreshadowing. We were excited for all-you-can-eat sushi and dutifully filled out their little order slip like people who still believed in systems and process. My wife, who isn't a sushi fan, ordered a bento box. The bento arrived promptly. We told her to go ahead and eat. She did. She finished. She had time to question her life choices, achieve personal growth, and possibly age a year. Meanwhile, the rest of us were still waiting for sushi that had apparently been filed under "optional." Other tables arrived. They ordered. They received food. They ate. They probably went home, tucked their kids into bed, and watched a show. We, however, were still sitting there being periodically checked on by wait staff who appeared to be earning extra credit for their civics class. "Everything okay?" they asked. What we needed was sushi. What we had was an endurance trial. Multiple times, they asked us what we had ordered, strongly suggesting our original order slip had been eaten by the building. Eventually, they stopped pretending and just started sending us random sushi like some kind of cursed seafood gacha game. About an hour and a half in, my wife started feeling unwell and went to wait in the car. Remember that. It gets worse. Eventually, sushi began to arrive. Unfortunately, this is when we realized the people behind the counter were not "chefs" so much as enthusiastic participants in a fish-related crime spree. The nigiri was easily four times normal size. Each piece was a structural engineering project. The rice portions were so excessive they could have been used for disaster relief. The fish looked like it had been torn apart using either a butter knife or a small piece of farm equipment. This was not sushi. This was rice-forward performance art. At some point, the manager or owner came over. She sounded exactly like the woman who says, "Your Bluetooth device is ready to pair," which was fitting, because nothing else in this establishment seemed properly connected. She asked if everything was alright. We were still missing a huge portion of our order. My youngest son, driven to madness by the endless wait for his crab sushi, finally snapped and started eating the lemon rinds off other plates like a Victorian street urchin who had lost all hope. We finally gave up at the three-hour mark. Not because we had all we could eat. But because we had all we could endure. We paid in full and left, having achieved neither satisfaction nor nourishment. Outside, we found my wife in significantly worse shape than when we left her. She was green, visibly ill, and vomited on the way home. Later that night, she ended up in the ER and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. I am not saying Sushi Moto caused this. I am simply laying out the timeline. The coincidence, however, is cinematically cruel. In summary: * Service operates on a mystical, unknowable schedule * Orders are more of a vibe than a system * Nigiri is served in Godzilla scale * Rice is apparently applied with a snow shovel * "All you can eat" is technically true if you bring camping gear and emotional support If you're hungry, go literally anywhere else. If you're looking for a three-hour psychological experiment featuring fish, confusion, and regret, Sushi Moto has you covered. read more

Ambiance was fine until the BILL SHOWED UP. Why I won't EVER return to Sushi Moto: PRICING. I had the sashimi offering. My friend had 3 long rolls. We both had Miso soup and seaweed salad. No alcohol. Hot tea. The bill was over 115 dollars. $132 with the tip. Over 100 bucks for sashimi and 3 long rolls is simply ludicrous. It really is. Sushi Moto has never really been "affordable" or cheap being the only sushi place within 25 or 30 miles. Now, however, they have "sealed their fate" towards closing up shop as most (many?) people will simply decide to just drive to the Sparks/Reno area for sushi that is DEFINATELY MORE AFFORDABLE than Sushi Moto. Maybe they won't close up shop, but they will hear a whole lot of cricket action (chirping) as not too many folks are gonna want to pay such prices for what is best considered "ok" or acceptable food. The service is SO BAD. Honestly not even worth coming here because it takes over an hour to get a couple rolls and another hour for a couple more and still not even the complete order has arrived. I'm writing this as I'm here waiting for my food, just found out they are not finishing our order because they forgot! The waitress spent more time playing with some guys ordering at the bar than working. The other waitress looked like she was hauling and actually working! Too bad we didn't get the hardworking one. Mind you this place was empty when my party and I came in. The place is overpriced for fernley, I pay less in San Mateo, CA for AYCE. I was warned not to come here...I'm warning you all now. Honestly one of the worst experiences I have had at any restaurant. The waitress, i believe named Kathryn, was extremely rude to my family. She was also being rude to her coworkers which seemed very unprofessional, who by the way seemed too young to serve alcohol but that is besides the point. we were sat very quickly, but the girl Sadie who sat us didn't communicate about following her to our table and just walked away very quickly not saying anything to us. we did all you can eat dinner, and our supposedly server Sadie was rude the whole time. she wasn't the one who took our paper with the rolls we decided on. drinks were empty half way through our meal and she still hadn't checked up on us. there's was another server there who helped us out as much as she could as she was cleaning the whole restaurant for pre-closing. i had wanted to order a bowl of miso soup and i made eye contact with our server trying to get her attention and she didn't make an effort and just ignored us. we never had made it an issue we weren't being attended to, but a little effort would've been nice. i had to walk up to the server near the host stand just to be able to get some soup and after she brought the soup she wasn't very nice and scoffed as a said thank you. these two gentleman came in to eat about 20 mins after us, and the same server had asked them what they wanted to drink while she was clearing off the table next to us and was facing us as the gentleman were trying to ask questions about something on the menu and was rolling her eyes and mouthing things about them. just because you're having a bad day doesn't mean you need to be disrespectful at the restaurant you work at, yes i'm aware people suck but get over it and do what you're there getting paid to do. we didn't tip at all because she never checked on us, was rude the whole time, and just looked so miserable to be there. i'm sure it's not that hard to quit the job if you hate it that much. or don't work in the service industry where you see people at all day, everyday. she needs some basic human decency. read more

Nice elevator music playing like some jazz to chill with. Our favorite was the Godzilla roll and the mussels. For the first time coming it wasn't bad. We stopped by Sushi Moto on our way back home to Reno from visiting Fallon, and decided to have some AYCE sushi. The restaurant hasn't changed since I've been here before, still cozy and well-themed. The sushi was exactly as expected, straightforward! I typically get a LOT of nigiri, and they are pretty comparable to a lot of other sushi places I've been to in a variety of places. My mom got the seafood udon that she said was delicious and she enjoyed (I didn't personally try, but I'll take her word for it!). My husband got a calamari tempura as a snack, which was pretty good - the dipping sauce to complement it was tasty. My dad and I had the nigiri spreads we typically order, which as mentioned above, is sushi, nothing crazy to note. My only comment would be the service - although our server apologized and recognized the lag, we were sat in the far corner and we were forgotten for quite some time. There was a large rush that came through since it was close to dinner time, and we brushed it off, but there was about another 20 minutes where we weren't acknowledged and our paper filled with our second helping wasn't taken. read more

I was driving to Fernley and wanted some sashimi for lunch. This is the only place that popped up. I called ahead to make sure they have sashimi plate. it is a little on the expensive side 18 pieces for $36. So I went with the appetizer nine pieces sashimi for $17. Are usually stop at sprouts sushi counter and get the salmon nigiri and just don't eat the rice. It's $14 so I figure 3 dollars more. it was a strange greeting from the waitress Allie, I walked in, there was one table and she was a bit Disoriented. She started with can I... What are you here for...? I Asked her does she not serve lunch? I mean it's 12:30 PM full on lunchtime and she asked me why I was there...Strange to say the least. My recommendation is to greet people with 'Hi, welcome to sushi Moto, can I help you?' Or even "1 for lunch?" It's just good customer service. What I ordered: Scallop hand roll (no rice) nine po sashimi appetizer with salmon and yellowtail The food arrived fairly quickly. First the scallop hand roll. Followed by the sashimi. The scalloped hand roll had plenty of scallops. The yellowtail was so thin that I could see through it. I had to return the top salmon piece as it was definitely dry and dark along the edge as if it sat in the air too long. The test was good. For $2 a piece, they could have given a correct portion. The guy who cut the sushi, cut it like it was going on all you can eat. Small and thin so you fill up on the rice. but a sashimi platter should actually have a good portion as you are paying for a premium dish, not all you can eat. Downloaded this app back just to do a review on them, we went to dinner there on Sunday and I do food reviews for my job. As soon as we walked in the vibes were off. But I just ignored it. While I was recording the surroundings one of the girls behind the sushi counter with glasses and ponytail said "can you please not record in here" I asked her why and she said, "umm it makes me uncomfortable...." So I told her that I would not record her. I was done filming the environment and then continued to record my food. As dinner progressed we did all you can eat sushi and the sushi did not taste fresh what so ever. It tasted refrigerated and the rice was stiff. So I asked our server (who was a sweet guy) if the sushi was made fresh and he said, "it should have been" and I left it alone after that. Fast forward we ordered our 2nd round and a mixed girl with curly short hair brang out our order... not our waiter. I was trying to record her putting the food down on the table (just her hand) and she asked, "are you recording" I said, "...yes" then she said, "I don't want to be recorded" I ensured her that she nor her face was being recorded and she started saying something else about not being able to record in the building but I did cut her off and asked her to hand me my food and then I asked to speak to a manager. The owner came out and I asked her if she had a policy on recording in the establishment and she said no. I asked her on why her staff was being rude with me recording the environment and my food and she answered rudely "what do you want" I then realized she barely understood what I was trying to explain to her as her English was minimal. I asked for a box to wrap my food since I was no longer in the mood to eat. I was extremely overwhelmed by the way they were treating me as if I was causing them harm and I most definitely will not be going back. The owner tried to apologize but I feel she needs to re evaluate her staff. Since there is no policy on recording in her establishment there shouldn't be an issue. The food is decent, for small town Nevada, but service and efficiency has been slipping for a while. During my most recent visit, it took over an hour for my first AYCE order to make it to the table, and one roll was missing. When it was mentioned to the server, she questioned if I was sure it hadn't come out (either way, I ordered AYCE so it shouldn't have made a difference to add another one). Went to Sushi Moto on a Saturday and ordered all you can eat. Usually, when you order all you can eat, you can order as many times as you want. However, the old Asian lady that worked there told us that we cant order more and that the next order was our last order. Keep in mind that we came in around 3 PM and we ordered about 3 times. There was also plenty of time until the business actually closes so I honestly don't know why the lady told us that we couldn't order anymore. Not only that when I asked her about the mussels we ordered 30 minutes ago, that same lady came back with the mussels and said "you complain, you get it." I wasn't even rude to her or complaining about the mussels. I simply just asked her about it and she had to make a rude remark about it. Then she kept eyeing our table across the room for the whole time we were there. And along with their terrible service, the food did not make it any better. I highly suggest the baked mussels, the salmon skin hand roll and their miso soup. The atmosphere was very quiet because it was only four people in there. They have two different menus, their lunch was $32 and their dinner is $38. They do not have a lot of appetizers on the lunch menu, only 5 things on it and especially no mussels so we upgraded to the dinner menu u because we wanted more appetizers. But overall, it was good but I hope they change the menu where they can add all the appetizers to the lunch menu. read more

Fernley doesn't have a lot of restaurants, so I was ecstatic to learn they have a sushi place. FOOD: Our favorite rolls are the Saturday Nite roll (with blackened tuna) & the 1080 scallop roll. Their nigiri is also amazing. My favorites are salmon & mackerel nigiri. The baked mussels are also tasty! SERVICE: employees checked on us often. Refilled our drinks at the appropriate time & made sure we were full and happy by the time we left. Restaurant is clean & quaint. My pro tip is to avoid going there on a busy day. Great sushi!!! I'm pretty picky when it comes to sushi and I always compare one places Godzilla rolls to the next. Must say they have, if not the best, top 2 Godzilla rolls. She said that's because it is. They served me sushi with Mayo on top. I said can I order a different roll instead because this tastes horrible. She said of course.
