Should be chicken Katsu, but it's just chicken with the skin falling off, and pretty tasteless

I ordered chicken Katsu, and it came out looking like picture below, the skin just kept falling off the chicken , I told my server about it, and he just looked at me and asked me was I done with my empty beer bottle, didn't even comment on what I said. I won't be coming back here.

I forgot which rolls were to the left but I'm pretty sure it was the drop kick and Mona Lisa.

We love coming here to eat. It's like the only sushi spot in Fernley. It's close by and it always tastes amazing. The restaurant is always clean and their service is quick. Even when the place seems busy! I wish they did open earlier on Sundays though, but to be honest - I'm happy they're even open at all on a Sunday so I'm not deducting any points away for that! They had a new host/waitress there when we went and she was really nice. It's not surprising that we will be back. :)

Ordered the Godzilla Fried Habatchi, Dragon roll and The High Roller. Paired with the Japanese cucumber salad and some mussels. Everything was absolutely amazing. The staff was polite and quick. Nice elevator music playing like some jazz to chill with. Our favorite was the Godzilla roll and the mussels. For the first time coming it wasn't bad. I suggest anyone to come here especially on a date.

We stopped by Sushi Moto on our way back home to Reno from visiting Fallon, and decided to have some AYCE sushi. The restaurant hasn't changed since I've been here before, still cozy and well-themed. The sushi was exactly as expected, straightforward! I typically get a LOT of nigiri, and they are pretty comparable to a lot of other sushi places I've been to in a variety of places. My mom got the seafood udon that she said was delicious and she enjoyed (I didn't personally try, but I'll take her word for it!). My husband got a calamari tempura as a snack, which was pretty good - the dipping sauce to complement it was tasty. My dad and I had the nigiri spreads we typically order, which as mentioned above, is sushi, nothing crazy to note. My only comment would be the service - although our server apologized and recognized the lag, we were sat in the far corner and we were forgotten for quite some time. There was a large rush that came through since it was close to dinner time, and we brushed it off, but there was about another 20 minutes where we weren't acknowledged and our paper filled with our second helping wasn't taken.

    Scallop Hand Roll, no rice

I was driving to Fernley and wanted some sashimi for lunch. This is the only place that popped up. I called ahead to make sure they have sashimi plate. it is a little on the expensive side 18 pieces for $36. So I went with the appetizer nine pieces sashimi for $17. Are usually stop at sprouts sushi counter and get the salmon nigiri and just don't eat the rice. It's $14 so I figure 3 dollars more. it was a strange greeting from the waitress Allie, I walked in, there was one table and she was a bit Disoriented. She started with can I... What are you here for...? I Asked her does she not serve lunch? I mean it's 12:30 PM full on lunchtime and she asked me why I was there...Strange to say the least. My recommendation is to greet people with 'Hi, welcome to sushi Moto, can I help you?' Or even "1 for lunch?" It's just good customer service. What I ordered: Scallop hand roll (no rice) nine po sashimi appetizer with salmon and yellowtail The food arrived fairly quickly. First the scallop hand roll. Followed by the sashimi. The scalloped hand roll had plenty of scallops. The yellowtail was so thin that I could see through it. I had to return the top salmon piece as it was definitely dry and dark along the edge as if it sat in the air too long. The test was good. For $2 a piece, they could have given a correct portion. The guy who cut the sushi, cut it like it was going on all you can eat. Small and thin so you fill up on the rice. but a sashimi platter should actually have a good portion as you are paying for a premium dish, not all you can eat. Small portions, large prices, strange greeting... Definitely a Knogo...

I ordered two rolls, the negi toro roll and the fire ocean roll. I literally have pictures of both because the rice to fish ratio is a complete joke for what they are charging you. It was basically a giant mountain of rice with a tiny sliver of fish hidden inside. The food could have been salvageable but the service was also bad. I was given two sushi rolls with no soy sauce plate, no chopsticks and no napkins. I had to sit there staring at my food while it sat warm on the table. I also ordered edamame and it's a miracle that you can dry something out by steaming it. It was completely shriveled and uneditable. To top it all off, none of the hosts or waitresses paid attention to me for an extended period of time so I talked to the sushi chefs that spoke no english to help me. 5 stars to them because they actually tried to help me out when the rest of the staff ignored me, but unfortunately it doesn't really help the restaurant. Save your money and go somewhere else.

On this most recent visit, the hamachi (yellowtail) nigiri was incredibly smooth and buttery and fell apart in my mouth- probably some of the best I've ever had! If you like raw fish with added heat and crunch, I highly recommend the Cherry Blossom Roll & Playboy Roll, as both will hit the spot. The service is good and quick. I think the staff can recognize when patrons are seasoned AYCE sushi eaters like we were and turn up the hustle (in a good way), and I also overheard our server patiently explaining how AYCE works at the table next to us. The place itself definitely leans more fast-casual/no fuss as far as typical sushi restaurants. It's clean with plain walls/no decor, and all seating is all 4-top tables and bar seating. There is a warmth to the simplicity, it's certainly not a bad thing and I'll continue to enjoy it with every subsequent visit.

First off, nigiri. These are HUGE and they come with a sizable slab of sashimi cut fish on top too. Pro-tip is to order less than you think you'll eat, because the size is sure to surprise and they will fill you up quickly. Don't sleep on the specialty nigiri here OR he Scallop Supreme appetizer, which is seared scallop sashimi! Second, sticking with the size matters theme, the hand rolls. Spicy salmon, spicy scallop and scallop OG are all stellar, and you will be blown away by the amount of seafood stacked in these when they arrive. One is easily an entire maki roll worth of filling and you will be stoked when you sink your teeth in. I definitely ordered at least two spicy salmon hand rolls and should have had a third. Third, massive maki, perfectly proportioned and portioned for sharing. Do yourself a favor and order the Pink Fire with spicy yellowtail seared with togarashi, sesame oil, salt & pepper wrapped in soy paper, then topped with seared tuna, yummy sauce, teriyaki, ponzu, green onions, chili flakes, & sesame seeds. The Double Down is another winner with salmon, tuna, yellowtail on the inside, then topped with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, tobiko, avocado. FOURTH, don't skip dessert! Can you say house-made ice cream?? I can and I'd say it two or three times here if they'd let me. This stuff is SERIOUSLY good. Desserts are not an afterthought here and you need to save room. FIFTH, last but 100% the most important and not least, SERVICE IS STELLAR! Yes. They are on it. They love what they serve. They're a solid team and this place wins as a result! We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. One thing that surprised me was the Kani (crab). I ordered it wondering if it would be real crab or imitation. It was real! I was happy and surprised. I ate my fill. Appetizers, nigiri, and rolls here are usually a smidge behind Tokyo in variety, taste, and fish to rice ratio on the nigiri, but still very good -- definitely above average. There's usually little to no wait unless you're in a large group, as opposed to Tokyo's madhouse that has waits frequently of an hour. Music isn't blasting so you can hear the person at the other side of the table speak, and service is consistently excellent in the relatively small dining room. It's about $4 less expensive with tax and tip then Tokyo also at $42 vs $46 total as of July 2026. Unfortunately, she brought that same loud, frantic energy to every interaction with customers, which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. The food was disappointing. It lacked flavor, and the menu felt like it was trying to do too much. Being both a sushi bar and a hibachi restaurant seemed to hurt the overall quality. Two of us ordered the all-you-can-eat option, which ended up being a big mistake. Between the bland food and the slow service, we lost our appetites before we could really enjoy the meal. One final warning: check your bill carefully. We were a party of four, but we were automatically charged gratuity even though the menu states that gratuity is only added for parties of six or more.
