Tried this place for the first time on my way to an appt. Wasn't sure what to expect. Well, I haven't had yellowtail this fresh since I lived in LA! They add a bit of red and orange pepper to their spicy Tina roll instead of the "crunch" filter that many places use these days -- pretty and inventive. I had a delicious salmon roll too. Hands down the best sushi in ALL of Denver. Their sushi chefs are so creative with the menu. They offer extremely different rolls than any other restaurant in the area. I was making a U-turn in a strip mall on my way home from work one evening. I noticed a Sushi sign in a window. I have to say, it was not something I would have found had I been looking for it. But, I felt like I had too try it. I went in and it was very clean, the people are extremely welcoming and friendly. I ordered about 4 rolls (very interesting and unique).I took it home to my husband and we were beyond impressed! We went back last night for date night and were even more impressed. Wow. I haven't had sushi this good before. It's more of a modern type sushi and it absolutely blew my taste buds away. The two special rolls we ordered were monkey brain and red dragon. The monkey brain came with a lot of avocado, which got me a little skeptical since I'm not too big of a fan of avocado, but wow; The flavor blended in so we'll I rarely noticed. The red dragon was amazingly fresh, I refused to use soy sauce with it. Best sushi I've had yet. Even the green tea was a 10/10. The service was excellent, the server was on point every time, but there wasn't many people here at the time, so who knows how it is when it's busy. Great work! read more

My boyfriend and I LOVE this place. We are now frequent visitors. The staff are on point, the chef knows exactly what he is doing, and the sashimi cuts are a lot bigger than most places. The server always takes the time to explain things when we have questions. On our last visit, we even took some sauce home that was put into the quail eggs to see if we can create the same magic in our own kitchen. I love this place and there is not a better place for sushi outside of Denver/Boulder. We live in Thornton and have been to places like Happy Sumo and Okinawa and Sushi North is way better. Fish is always fresh and they have a great assortment of rolls. We went there for my birthday last night and I got a 'Sushi North Marg' which turned out to be excellent - it was well balanced and not overly sweet. We also ordered salmon nigiri, the house roll, sunshine roll and a red dragon roll - yum! Its one of the few places in the 'burbs you can go get high quality food, that's not a chain, has a classier feel (no screaming kids) and get a great cocktail. read more

This place is near my office, in a very sad little strip mall behind the Wendy's. I think three businesses have been in this place since I started working over here. But I really, really hope this one can go the distance. I'm no expert, but I've had a fair amount of sushi over the years, some of it much more expensive than this place, and it's consistently among the best sushi I've ever tasted. The fish is so fresh it almost seems impossible so far from the ocean. Nothing but smooth, rich bites of deliciousness. I haven't even tried any of the elaborate rolls chef/owner Jo has come up with. This is my first Yelp review. I've been a yelp leech and have benefitted greatly from reviews written by others. Such was the case with Sushi North so I decided I should add my thoughts on this one. I happened to be in a nearby hotel but the staff there didn't know anything about the restaurant other than "it's pretty new". So I turned to Yelp, found great reviews and had an amazing meal that I would have missed out on if not for the advice of Yelpers. I don't know sushi well enough to say it's traditional or not or compare it to world renowned sushi restaurants on the coast, etc. but I know what tastes good and fresh and this does. I had miso soup, firecracker roll, smoked salmon nigiri, calamari tempura roll, and two Asahi beers for about $40. I would not say it's cheap but I will say the value received is HUGE. I can recommend everything I had and can't wait to try other menu items. Sushi North guys: Take a plate of food out and spread the word! Other reviewers are spot on that this place won't jump out in front of customers due to your location. The desk staff where I stayed were happy to be able to pass along my recommendation of your restaurant...imagine how much more enthusiastic they'll be once they've tried it for themselves. Great service, The chef 'Young Joe' has an awesome personality and treats everyone like a family friend. Don't hesitate to introduce yourself. Wow! This place was unexpected to say the least. It is located right behind the Wendy's and when we pulled up we almost decided to find somewhere else. I'm glad we didn't. We were greeted immediately and seated at a booth. The menu had all the options you'd expect from a great sushi place and we started with the dynamite app. Calamari, mussels, shrimp, scallops all together with an incredible sauce. Yum! Our rolls were just as good. Everything tasted fresh and really hit the spot. I will definitely be heading back to Sushi North for seconds (and thirds). read more

Every time I go to sushi north I have a better experience than the previous time! The fish is fresh every day and the sushi chef, Jo, is spectacular. I've never seen sushi treated as an art as much as I have at this restaurant. I make a point of waiting to order my sushi so that I can just watch him make the sushi for other customers. I have never been so disappointed after a sushi dinner. After reading all the amazing reviews I had high hopes for this place & ignored the fact it's in a creepy strip mall next to a crematory. Prices - Over priced for small mediocre rolls, I've had better for half the price at HANA MATSURI on 120th & Huron. Rice - Dry & slightly hard as if was sitting out uncovered. Menu - Online menu descriptions are very different than on the menu inside, mostly every roll includes crab mix (imitation crab mix) Taste - Overly fishy chewy unagi, the eel sauce tasted as if sugar was mixed in it, the salmon was not anything special to brag about & the seaweed wrappers were hard to chew. Overall I would never eat at this place again, if you are not used to amazing sushi I'm sure this place will thrill you. After my friend & I finished our food we felt disappointed that we had wasted money on this place, we almost went to HANA MATSURI to get that taste out of our mouth for half the price for huge fresh rolls. The waiter was very nice & tried to keep our drinks full, the restaurant itself is very quiet & slightly awkward. read more
