My experience was great! The service was top notch, and as a sushi lover, I was extremely pleased with our rolls! The three of us dined on six varieties...and we couldn't decide which we liked best. Had lunch there and ate outside, pleasant. Ordered the fish lunch box. Started with good Miso soup, which was unfortunately the highlight of the meal. Way too much oil on rest of the food and one fried batter-dipped something (sorry I don't know the culinary term) was utterly tasteless. I have been going to Sushi-O since their opening. The food was very good. The menu changed often, and it got to where I did not care for the food. I stopped going for at least a year. Recently I tried it again, and was surprised. The food is much better. I go for lunch, because I work close by. The portions for the Business Boxes are really more than I can eat at one sitting. I think that this is one of the best values, and some of the best lunches that is available in this area. The food is always well prepared. I have to admit that the Philly roll is a hit sometimes, and not other times. That is the only complaint about the food that I have. read more

This is a mixed review, but overall a good experience. OK. I just walked out of the restaurant with a full belly of delicious fish lol. The service was excellent, couldn't have done more for me. Certainly will recommend this place to friends. The two servers were polite, and very friendly. Now the negative. The last time I ate at sushi-o it was a different story. Saturday morning, I get it, it was a beautiful day and you didn't want to work lol!That is fine, but that shouldn't mean you should ignore me and spend the morning playing on a phone rather than tend to my needs. I will say that boy who served me, and I do mean boy because his attitude reminds me of my 7 year old was not to my liking. Rude, arrogant and honestly didn't want to be there. I was informed that he is usually the bartender. I get it! Bar folk will tolerate an attitude but I won't! The owner should consider demoting this "boy" from GM. Which I question anyway. Don't want to end this on a negative so I'll say it again. The food is amazing! It is THE best sushi in richmond! My experience today? Perfect! I only wish I got both servers names for next time. The fact we had zero sushi places on Midlothian Tnpk for the longest time has changed and it was well worth the wait! Sushi-O is my new favorite sushi place in all of Richmond. I cannot imagine visiting this place and not getting the Power Roll! Its just awesome! The fried Calamari and fried rice are the best I have had of this style. The staff is extremely friendly and part of the reason I have had no choice in becoming a regular. Obviously the fantastic food is the other part of that equation! read more

When my husband and I went to Sushi O for dinner, there weren't too many customers there. There were no waitress came to offer us drinks,15 minutes after we were seated. They were all standing around talking and laughing. We left the restaurant and never went back since. I think poor management is to blame!!! read more

Really disappointed--again. Had tried the bento box salmon & portion was very small, sauce too sweet. The tempura and miso soup ok. Sushi was ok. Honestly, not in a rush to return--although I probably will, next year. I am wanting it to be what it was when it opened...sigh. read more

We have been consistently been coming here since it opened over 10 years ago. It is some of the best sushi in Richmond and we have eaten at them all. The 007, Alversar, Spicy Girl and Picasso roll are some of our favorites. The waitstaff are impeccable. Definitely give it a try! read more

Had a rough visit there recently. Server was nice, but was pretty flaky - even forgetting to put in one of our guests' entire order. Food was good, but nothing to write home about. The prices on the rolls were a bit high for what they were. Not sure if dude-wandering-around-acting-like-he-owned-the-place was a manager or a bartender, but he was dressed for a hockey game, not a sushi restaurant. Also, two checks were divided incorrectly and server said she couldn't change it - wrong. We've worked in restaurants before and know that bills can be corrected and be reprinted. The whole evening was basically amateur hour and we won't be dining in there again any time soon - take out, maybe. read more

So-so sushi at awesome price levels. The service was not what a $60 bill (with only water as drinks, I should add) was worth. Our server, whose name begins with a "K", treated us like we were scum. She barely said anything to us and when she dropped off the check at the end of the meal, she didn't even have the decency to say good bye, or come back soon. I will NOT be going back here again. For a start, there was a fly in my roll.......disgusting. I had it sent back and to believe what i heard was unreal.I was seated in a booth so able to hear the sushi bar conversation. Perhaps what follwed explains why i was able to hear at all (it was basically empty) Doesnt even put his phone down and just says "no problem" What I know to be one of the owners as i have eaten there multiple time. I've been here a few times over the years, but the quality of service has taken a nosedive as of late. My server was wearing sandals.......i dont care if you have painted toe nails, i dont want to see them. read more
