Rare visit to Riverside but this place was recommended to us. Such a nice venue. Roomy with a modern decor. Of course we opted for the AYCE option. All the sushi was fresh and very good. The rice to fish ratio was on point. The nigiri was also proportioned perfectly. Not too much rice, just enough to fill you up. The service was excellent. The staff was always checking in on us. They always topped off our waters and made sure we were ok. Overall, a fantastic AYCE sushi spot. Definitely a top tier restaurant!

For my first time, it was a great experience. We had lots of fun watching celebrating people's birthdays through dinner. They turn of the lights and put on disco light and music. They bring out a candle and dessert to celebrate the person. Lots of fun and so cute! Service was great. The employees were nice, fast and always checked up on us. The food was fresh and lots of it too. Definitely worth the AYCE! I'll be back again.

Sushi Okoku was an amazing sushi buffet experience (see below for individual reviews). You get the full rolls and cannot ask for half but the choices are great for different preferences (raw, cooked, no rice, tempura, etc.). During the meal rush, it can be a bit loud but overall ambience is great for a family/catch-up meal with friends. Servers were kind and on point with picking up empty plates. There were a couple of orders we didn't receive that we waited for and did not know were out of stock until we followed up with our waitress. Would definitely recommend following up if an order doesn't come timely or I would encourage Sushi Okoku to add this to their menu. 6/5 - Salmon/Seared Salmon Nigiri. This was the star of the show. The best thing about this AYCE sushi spot is the fish/rice ratio. The chefs do not add too much rice to each sashimi and you can feel comfortable ordering many servings. The fish is also fresh and you won't be disappointed. 5/5 - Scottish roll. One of their new rolls and brings a great combo of flavors from the salmon and crabmeat to the texture of crunch and softness from the avocado. Definitely give this one a try! 5/5 - Albatros Roll. I was a fan of all of their "No Rice" rolls as it doesn't make each roll feel too heavy. The albacore pairs very well with the fried onion. The usual crab meat, shrimp tempura, and cucumber makes this a very solid choice with unique flavor. 4/5 - Ultimate Salmon Roll. Not as much salmon to live up to the name and felt like there was a bit more pepper than desired but still makes for a great roll that you can order. If you like seared salmon in a non-nigiri form, you can get it here! 4.5/5 - Honeymoon Roll. Your regular salmon topped California roll without the rice. Always a classic to get if you love salmon with the nostalgic California roll flavor. While there's nothing too special about it, it won't disappoint! 4/5 - Angie's Roll. I felt that the salmon was a bit over-baked but it still came as a generous portion with a great combo of flavor. You get your baked salmon and scallop flavor combo which if you haven't tried you absolutely should! Not pictured but can't recommend enough: Orange Blossom and Salmon Lover. These no-rice rolls put salmon flavor to the max! You get a variety of salmon texture with the sauce/lack of sauce and are well complemented by the avocado/crab meat/jalapeno

Been to many AYCE sushi places and this one is above average. Pros: service is quick and there's plenty of variety to choose from. You have the freedom to order anything you want as you have an iPad where you order them directly to your table and photos are provided for everything. Plenty of seating. Cons: waiters are prone to stop by less because ordering is done by tablet. Some of the Mexican rolls were extremely lemony, making them inedible. They were somehow out of fried calamari and fried shrimp. The teriyaki beef appetizer was inedible. Because of the variety and great pricing, I give this place four stars.

A little disappointed in some. The last round didn't come out and we ended up paying and leaving. The onions where nothing like before, where there were tempura and thinly sliced. They are now small bits of what tasted like dehydrated onions.

I've been to this location long ago when it was named something else. Sushi Okoku is next to America's Tire Company and offers $32.99 AYCE lunch. If you appreciate Mexican Sushi, this place is for you. Half their menu features jalapeño, habanero, pico de gallo, and/or agua chile. Berlin seated us and the order was placed on a tablet. The service was excellent and there's plenty of spacious seating. The food was delivered promptly and incorporating technology to streamline efficiency was evident. We had the Super Mexican, Jessica Albacore, and Yellowtail Habanero rolls. I also ordered a few pieces of Sashimi including Agua Chile Tilapia, Mexican Fusion Tuna, and Mexican Fusion Yellowtail. All was tasty, fresh, and bursting with flavor.

My husband is not a big fan of raw fish but he admits he loves the AYCE lunch served here. There is So much variety of appetizers and we like the Mexican fusion spins on sushi and sashimi. We think about this place often and wish we didn't live 3 hours away. Or maybe it's better we live so far so that we don't go too often The iPad ordering system is so convenient and food comes quickly. Service is prompt and courteous. Parking in the lot is easy and free.

One of my go to's! A genuine loyal customer to them, with their top notch prices, and quality! I would highly recommend their seared salmon and spicy tuna crispy rice! Dining in, you are ordering off an iPad with pictures and descriptions so you know exactly what you're getting. We always opt in for take out instead, since we enjoy ordering a little bit of everything and sharing without stuffing ourselves to the max! They have 50% off rolls for to go orders, that we use to try everything we can. Our personal favorites are the golden tiger roll with cream cheese, shrimp tempura, crab! Overall sometimes their quality is a bit spotty some days, but I frequently order here all the time. Would still highly recommend.

By far the best sushi and ACYE in the area! Have the all you can eat and it didn't disappoint. most of the roles were half size of a regular size roll. Which made it better in my opinion, because you could try many different roles and not get stuffed on just a few. The service was great from start to finish. The servers were very attentive they cleared the tables very quickly and the food also came out quickly as well. Great variety of roles and each one tasted different so it didn't taste like you were having the same role with just a different type of sauce or topping. I highly recommend this place Check it out!

I really wanted to enjoy Sushi Okoku, but the experience was a series of "missed marks" from start to finish. While the staff is friendly upon entry, the actual service is some of the most uncoordinated I have experienced in Riverside. The Service: After being seated and receiving drinks, we were ignored for 20 minutes before we could even place an order. Despite having plenty of staff--some of whom were literally practicing dance moves off to the side--no one checked in on us once the food arrived. To make matters worse, our appetizers arrived last, and we sat for 15 minutes after finishing our meal just waiting for the check. There is a clear lack of floor management here. The Food: * Shrimp Tempura: This was a major disappointment. It arrived lukewarm and the batter was doughy and undercooked. Tempura should be light and crispy; this was heavy and soft. * Popcorn Crawfish Roll: The crawfish topping was very oily and lacked seasoning, making the entire roll feel bland and heavy. * Manager's Special: A decent flavor profile, but the ratio was off--there was far too much rice, which overpowered the fish. * Fire Roll: This was the highlight of the night. It had the perfect amount of spice and great flavor. It's the only item I would consider ordering again. Verdict: If you're looking for a quick or attentive meal, this isn't it. The kitchen needs better quality control on temperatures, and the staff needs to focus more on the guests than their choreography. With so many sushi options in the area, it's hard to justify a return visit.

I happened to be in Riverside and wanted to have sushi for dinner and decided to try this place. You order from a tablet and it seems like there's no number of rounds that other AYCE places have. I think ordering from a tablet made the service a bit faster. Their menu was about 70% rolls and the rest were appetizers and sushi. The sushi was pretty good and I can't complain for the price. read more

Introduction? For this place? No need! This is the best AYCE sushi place my wife and I have been to, maybe even the best sushi period, and we have been to a lot of sushi restaurants. Located right next to a tire shop, this restaurant was all the way in the corner of a small shopping center with plenty of parking in the back. There is plenty of inside seating without any outside seating. Decor is minimal and modern. We were seated right away on Friday around 1 pm, but it was fairly busy for a weekday. The menu has a lot of variety and options and you order on a tablet at your table. The food comes out pretty quickly As far as flavor goes, the fish was super fresh, the rice to fish ratio was great. All the hot foods came out hot and all the other foods came out room temp. A lot of the stuff on the menu has a mexican twist to some of the flavors and it definitely worked! My wife and I still dream about this place today and we hope they open a location in San Diego. They automatically add gratuity to all party sizes so be aware. Overall, for the amazing price of $30, this place has both incredible value and some of the best sushi we've ever had. We can't wait to come back!! read more

Yeah it was ok. It was a dark place, menu was hard to read because they were beaten up so bad. The food wasn't bad, a little bit too many fusion type of sushi. I thought the service was ok. First time dining here at a AYCE sushi and it was fantastic. Came here on a Saturday afternoon about before 2 pm and it wasnt busy. Food was great, though I wish we didnt order x2 of 1 sushi so we can try other sushi flavors or types. They also don't have desserts on the menu which I thought would be great if they had. 10 out of 10 stars. Man this place is awesome! AYCE sushi for $36 and a 2 hour limits is a good deal here. I counted 10 or more chefs here cranking out sushi rolls at max speed. My party of two sat down and started with 6 rolls thinking we would have time to finish one at a time, well we ended up having all 6 rolls placed on our table in less than 8 minutes! Wow! We ordered a few more rolls, the soft shell crab was pretty awesome. All the food came out so fast we were finished at 40 minutes. Love the setup here and the birthday parties they bring down all the lights and turn on the disco theme for everyone to enjoy. My new favorite sushi place even with a one hour drive. read more

Updated review: Okuku prices have gotten out of control... over 60.00 for AYCE and a single tall beer... Food review remains the same, short of the limited options for some times... but 60.00 is crazy for a single person. Came here for the first time a week ago for Sunday lunch with a friend. We both had the all you can eat options. The service was great. The restaurant is nice and the service was great and quick! I like that they have options to fill out sheets for the orders or for the more tech savy customers they have electronic devices to submit their orders. As we were submitting new roll orders, they were coming to the table within minutes. The food was really good. The ambiance was great. There were several groups celebrating birthdays while we were there. They dim the lights and sing happy birthday to those celebrating. Was pretty cool. read more

First of all, just come here. You will not be disappointed! From the great food, to the amazing service, and the perfect music, you will love this place! I did not expect to find great AYCE sushi in the Inland Empire, but Sushi Okoku has done it. They have great appetizers with great portions like the fried soft-shell crab, and they are not trying to fill you up on rice or any random things that other places try to do!! They also have 50% beers and it's not like they're upcharging on alcohol (one beer was about $3-5!) The only thing I have to say is that the Tuna needs some work, especially because this is normally my favorite piece of fish. But I cannot complain given how great everything else was. I just like how nothing tastes questionable and what you order is what you get (surprisingly, this is not the case for many AYCE restaurants). read more

I am glad this place is getting better the more business it is getting versus getting worse because often times it's the other way around. Someone is paying attention to not only excellence in efficiency but also customer service and keeping the quality of the taste in food! At this point I have to try to save my food budget because I want to come here at least once a week. The check in. Easy. The wait times can be long but I blame people bringing parties of 12-20. I am not trying to hate on people who have a lot of friends who like sushi. I just don't like sharing. Ordering with IPads is easily my favorite thing ever!!!!! Staff is efficient but still customer service oriented so really top notch group. I am just so impressed with how busy they are that they keep up! I mean so many servers really hustling and still connecting with patrons too! Clean, open, airy, and tinged with blue.... my favorite color. read more

I visited this place with my family today and we had a great time and we ordered the AYCE. It was a bit pricy but was worth it with all the sushi options you get choose from. The food came out very fast, one of our orders did get mixed up but one of the workers named Jason helped resolve it and was very helpful. The restaurant interior is very nice and clean and the tables were spotless when we came to sit down. Alert, alert, alert. I bring my son there every weekend. I received the bill today and realized there was an automatic 18% tip on the bill and then below it. There was a place where they were asking for a gratuity again. Not only is this a slimy practice. I don't even think it's legal. But who knows. So the next time you go there triple check your bill because I've been tipping almost 50% without realizing it. I brought it up to the manager and he just laughed in my face. I will be filing a complaint with the business license department this Week. read more

Service is really great, the workers are nice so no complaints there. However, the sushi rolls were pretty disappointing regarding the rice. The rice constantly fell apart from every roll and never stuck together. I also wish for the salmon & tuna rolls they were more generous with rice. Cool place and concept. Staff was great. I liked using the tablet to place the AYCE orders. Food came out pretty fast. But the quality of the sushi was not great. Didn't taste fresh. I did a few rolls and some sushi. I was really excited for the agua chile roll and it came out with barely any sauce. The only things I liked were the tuna crispy rice and the Ex-Girlfriend Roll (from their no rice rolls section). They did make my nephew feel special for his birthday, though. So thank you to the staff for that. read more

Didn't see any description of mustard sauce being added to the sushi and seaweed salad, not a good taste. Servers were very kind and even brought out another seaweed salad w/o the mustard sauce, but the next one out was sweet for some reason. Mussels were also overcooked/chewy while the edamame was not steamed very well. read more

I went to this restaurant a couple days ago and after reflecting, I think I could probably give a good idea of the service that you'll receive there. first I was sat down, I was not greeted for about 10 minutes after I sat down and then when I placed my order, half didn't even come out until after I paid for the bill and I want to note that I was a single African-American woman who came here so I would think very hard before deciding to come to this place as a person of color because you may not get served. read more

Came here right when it opened at 11:30 on a Saturday with a party of 9 and didn't have to wait. Looks like they increased their prices now to $35.99 per person for AYCE and have automatic gratuity, 15% for parties of 4+ and 18% for parties of 6+. In terms of service and food everything was great. They have many really unique rolls like the strawberry lemonade roll that were surprisingly good. We got majority of the sashimi that you could only get one per person as well and those were pretty fresh tasting. These are some rolls I'd recommend. Strawberry Lemonade Roll - It sounds gross but is actually very refreshing and delicious. (5/5) Sashimi - I'd get the limit for each person because these are great. No fishy taste at all. (5/5) Sushi - All the sushi I got was good and also they don't pack in rice like other AYCE restaurants. My group didn't waste any rice surprisingly. (5/5) Baked Mussel - These looked different than other places I've been and the taste is good. I love mussels. (4.5/5) Spider hand roll - A must get for roll. I think there a limit of one per person but these were packed. (5/5) Soft shell crab - Also one per person and it's pretty good quality. (5/5) These are rolls/ items I'd avoid. Seaweed Salad - Big plate but it's mixed with lettuce not just the seaweed. Flavor is okay but we didn't want the salad. (1/5) Pizza Roll - Pizza and sushi don't mix and this combo did NOT work. It was okay but just weird.... (1/5) Overall they got some really good rolls and some really weird rolls. I like this place though the prices are kind of high with the new price increase. We paid about $50 per person for lunch so good to come for a special occasion. Parking is plentiful in their shared parking lot. read more

Such a great place for an all you can eat sushi! Their lunch special is only about $30 and their dinner special is $35! They have specials on 50% off alcoholic drinks during the week and that is super amazing! Everything was super fresh. I like the fact that it was a Mexican infused rolls. I took my sister here for her birthday and they definitely made her feel special! (She might be mad at me afterwards) they had turned off the lights and came with lighters and everything and saying her happy birthday. It was super nice! read more

I was a big fan of the salmon carpaccio and the super sexy bowl. The fish tasted fresh and portions are large so you get your moneys worth. My companion did mention that their bulgogi had more onion than meat which was visibly notable. Definitely aim to visit again and will recommend this spot to others.

**IF YOU MISS YOUR CHECK-IN TIME, LET SOMEONE KNOW BEFORE SIGNING UP ON THE WAITLIST AGAIN** My friend and I have been going here for the past year because we love the quality of the sushi, but it seems like the place went under new management because some stuff has changed. We never ran into issues... until this past weekend. First when we signed up on the waitlist, it wouldn't submit so we pressed the submit button many times, causing our name to appear multiple times. To solve this, we just "cancelled"/exited out but we were still on the list and told the front desk person so they're aware. Our waitlist said to return in about 30 minutes so we went over to Target for a quick shopping run, but then we got the text that our table was ready 15 minutes earlier, so we rushed back, but missed our spot by 1 MINUTE. So we signed up on the waitlist AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME, but here was our mistake: we didn't tell the front desk person, but only because we didn't think there was a point when they would just go off their list anyways. But we got the text that we were on the waitlist again, and that time we just waited in the car until our table was ready 10 minutes later. But then we got another text right away that our name was REMOVED off the waitlist, which was a mistake since we DIDN'T check in yet. But when we tried to check in, they said that we were removed from the waitlist more than 20 minutes ago, which was the 1st time we signed up. I tried to explain that we know we missed our grace period the FIRST time, so we signed up AGAIN for the SECOND time, got the confirmation, got the text our table was ready, but then received another text that we were taken off the waitlist even though we hadn't checked in. The person showed us that we were never on the waitlist, and kept saying we missed our grace period a long time ago. I tried to show her all the texts I received and their timestamps, but we ended up signing up on the waitlist *AGAIN* for the *3RD TIME*. We were already starving at that point waiting a lot longer than we were supposed to. Food was good as usual but it was hard to enjoy it after having issues with the waitlist system. The new tablet system is cool, the sushi came out quick, and also the surplus charge for extra food is apparently gone. But the gratuity charge is automatically added to the check so be careful you don't pay the tip twice. Probably won't be returning any time soon. Maybe in another year when their system has more time to fix their glitches. TLDR; if you miss your check-in time, let someone know before you sign up on the waitlist again. It wasn't the front desk person's fault but it was still frustrating to deal with when we were already hungry. read more

The combination of crispy shrimp and creamy avocado, topped with eel and a sweet sauce, created a wonderful contrast of textures and tastes. It was clear that a lot of care went into its preparation. The Yellowtail Roll was equally impressive. The fish was incredibly fresh, with a buttery texture that practically melted in my mouth. Recently had my third visit at Sushi Okoku, I always go for the all-you-can-eat. It is extremely affordable, and they have such a wide variety of options that you're sure to get the most bang for your buck! First and foremost, let's talk about the gyoza. Oh boy, those little parcels of joy were pure perfection! Each bite delivered a burst of flavor that left me craving more. The chicken teriyaki, too, was a delight--succulent and came out piping hot. It truly hit the spot! Now, let's dive into the highlight of my visit--the jalapeno poppers! The combination of heat and creaminess was a match made in flavor heaven. Trust me when I say they are an absolute must-try. Prepare to have your taste buds dancing with joy! Moving on to the rolls, the Las Vegas roll never disappoints. It's become my reliable go-to. However, the Senorita roll left something to be desired. The avocado topping was disappointingly mushy, not quite reaching the level of excellence I had come to expect with Sushi Okoku. But hey, not every roll can be a superstar. While I've had great experiences with the service at Sushi Okoku in the past, this time, things were a bit off. I found myself waiting longer than expected for my first roll, and unfortunately, they missed bringing me two items I had ordered during my second round. It was a minor hiccup, but it did detract from the overall experience. But not enough to keep me from coming! Despite these hiccups, Sushi Okoku remains my go-to spot in Riverside. I went to Sushi Okoku with my family to celebrate my birthday, and it was the worst dining experience I've ever had. From the start, the staff were cold and unfriendly, glaring at us as if we were a bother. The service was beyond unacceptable. They never came to check on us once during our meal. They brought out our appetizer after we finished our main dishes, and when we ordered a beer and 4 cups, they only brought one cup. When we asked for the additional cups, the server made a face and acted annoyed. We had to keep getting up to ask for service because no one bothered to come to our table. Things got even worse when we asked for a bottle after finishing the beer. Suddenly, they decided to card us, even though we'd already been served alcohol. It felt like they were just trying to create unnecessary problems. To top it off, when we went to pay, my mom was understandably upset with the service and told the server she didn't want to pay gratuity. The server rudely claimed it couldn't be removed. My mom asked to speak with a manager, and--shockingly--the manager turned out to be the rudest and b**chiest staff member of all them b**ches. With a terrible attitude, she finally removed the gratuity, but her demeanor was unprofessional and downright hostile. This was hands-down the worst service we've ever received. The staff seemed lazy, unfriendly, and completely uninterested in their jobs. If they don't want to be bothered, they should work as dishwashers. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and will never be coming back. read more

Came on a Sunday around noon. You order on tablets so the servers hardly interact with the table at all, not usually an issue considering the tablets are there to make things easier right? Except for the included gratuity. I go to AYCE often so i know included gratuity is usually they way to go, never minded it before. Waitresses have a poor attitude and are impossible to get a hold of. Had to ask multiple times for a single thing, like a refill or napkins. It was my first time here on a weekend so i had a couple questions regarding our orders bcs they have a different system for Sat & Sun ($40 a person, up charge on sauces, etc. this is not a thing on the weekdays so i just wanted a little clarification) For 2 people AYCE we paid a little over $20 in gratuity after paying $100 bill. Usually not the type to write a bad review but the service was horrible, i spent a majority of my time here waiter for a server who was rude, consistently ignored our table, answered with attitude, and was not worth the $20 tip. read more

Sushi always comes out super fast but I'm sorry, why is there an automatic gratuity for EVERY party size??? First of all, I've been to this establishment multiple times as a party of 2 and never once have the employees or servers given us a disclaimer about the automatic tip. Second, 90% of the service is done through an iPad! Why am I getting auto-grated when I'm ordering my own food on an iPad and only talk to a server once just to put in a glass of water. I've been tipping ON TOP of the gratuity apparently, definitely not deserved for the minimal amount of work that the workers are doing. Never been to a restaurant that does this to parties smaller than 4-6 people. Some transparency from the business and staff would've been appreciated. No longer coming back. read more

Have not been here since it was called OK Sushi. Now, Sushi Okoku, has been remodeled and it looks great. The ambience is very pleasant with soft lighting and pleasant music. The menu is very extensive and there is going to be something for everyone. The all you can eat menu is so huge that it is double sided. There is a no rice section on the AYCE menu with several options, if you want to keep it low carb. The fish is excellent quality on the rolls and on nigiri. Kelly, from Okoku, took very good care of us. My wife is the one who found this place and I am so glad she did. This just became my favorite Sushi spot over the one we have been going to for years. read more

Wow! This place is truly amazing. The quality of the food is extremely fresh to the point where they are frying the shrimp right before it goes in the roll. Allowing you to taste the extra crunch! Currently the have a promotion with the All you can eat M-Th 1$ beer/sake!! Great atmosphere and the owner is very attentive to all of his clients. They have multiple Tv's for events and also great selection of music. Very sleek environment. Also all the menu items are included in the All you can eat!! Will definitely be returning!! PS. I've tried majority of the sushi place here in Riverside and by faro the best is here in Okoku Sushi. Everything tastes fresh, the service is great, and the atmosphere is welcoming. My favorito rolls to get are the Ashi roll, wonton popper paradise, spiderman roll, and the teriyaki roll. The space is big so you can always come with a party of like 6 people and not worry about space. I always recommend this place to my friends ds and family. Give it a try and you'll see this place is great. read more
