Our food came quickly and tasted just as wonderful as it looked. We loved the unique sushi rolls and they were very accommodating to me, since I'm currently pregnant and can't eat anything raw, they had a lot to offer and even made more suggested alterations. The sushi is good, the service is not. There's other places with good sushi and good service. They're not rude or anything, just never check on you, don't expect refills, you'll be waiting for your check a while, too and the food. They also use crab salad for anything that says "crab" which is very disappointing to me because I dislike crab salad, I wouldn't have ordered the pink roll if I knew this ahead of time OR I would have asked if I could do crab stick instead of crab salad. I also waited like 15 minutes to try and order tea since there was floaties in my water and could not get a waitress over (this is not s big restaurant so this should not have been an issue) and this is the second time i try this place going to get dessert but the servers don't ask you if you want dessert and they take so long, i just wanted to pay and leave. I literally get anxiety here waiting for my damn check. Just not worth the wait for me. If I ever come back, I'm not gonna have the patience I've had the first 2 times so I'll just take my business to Ninja sushi from here on out. This used to be one of my go to sushi places. However, the last time I ordered, I placed my order online (and paid), was ten minutes late from the time it was supposed to be ready, and still waited an additional 30 minutes for it to be ready. It happens I suppose. I didn't get my usual summertime roll and mistakenly went with the rainbow roll. I could be wrong but I thought those rolls were usually very vibrant and at least somewhat colorful. This roll was dull and beige (yes, beige). Yuck. It had way too much soy sauce on it and left me sick to my stomach. I sadly will not be back. The miso was fine as was my friend's pink roll, but rainbow = colors other than beige. read more

We just happened to stop into this restaurant while on a road trip back from SoCal. The food was delicious! Actually both the Kobe Beef dish and Cheese Cake changed my mood for the day they were that unique and tasty. Wife and son shared the noodles and yellow tail sushi sashimi and they too were satisfied! Only critique I have are some of the employees on their phones and needed to be called for service--like the woman who took our order. The sushi bar was a little loud like when a young chef dropped something he kind of shouted a little bit. I tried to call in the order but the girl who answered the phone didn't get back on the phone after she told me to hang on. My to-go order didn't come with utensils or napkins or sauce for my gyoza and I waited 20 minutes standing up cuz there's no seating for waiting. For $23 I expected more. Food is always good but dinner is overpriced. I'd still go to lunch here but unless you got lots of money to blow, I'd skip dinner. My family and I have been coming to this place because the food is good. We really enjoy the giants roll, but the place can use more cleanliness and new staff that has more customer service. We have gotten the same server and we have been coming back and we get her each time. Her name Arielle, she hardly smiles, she is not attentive, and she never checks if we need anything else. She doesn't even refills our drinks. Unfortunately we were thinking maybe she is rushing to get to other tables but today was no busy and we still got the same bad customer service. This is Gilroy, it's seems to be difficult to find any Sushi place around here. This is located in the 152 pass where all the other stores/shops are at so it's easy to find. Some of the rolls were priced more than I'm use to seeing, BUT when we got them, they were plentiful (at least the specialty rolls). I've been to other places with similarly priced, but the amount was scarce. Service was great. From the moment we stepped in, literally all the staff stopped and turn to you and did the usual Japanese greeting you here at other places. And they were in sync, and all had a smile on their face. Some would find this very awkward and too forward. It sure did make me smile and led for a great conversation while eating. Throughout the evening staff was on top of everything. Well let's get to the important part, the food? They gave us complimentary edemame which was a first for me. As I mentioned earlier, the rolls were plentiful. We ordered 2 specialty rolls between my GF and I, and that was enough to make us stuffed. We ordered the Lobster Bisque Roll, and some other roll that had unagi--unfortunately for got the name. The waitress even informed us before hand which ones were baked, to make sure we were ok with it. The sushi tasted wonderful. The ingredients all tasted fresh. I wish I was more hungry to try others. **YELP TIP** Some interesting things, we went on a Friday night, and apparently during the weekend nights, they have "PARTY" themes. The service here is very friendly and the sushi menu is pretty extensive. I ordered the spicy scallop and the salmon skin hand roll and both were pretty good. The teriyaki isn't what you would normally expect when you go to a Japanese restaurant. It comes in a sizzling platter with bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms - more like fajitas - and it was pretty bland. I think the sizes have gotten smaller over time. I'd suggest to put more of the fish instead of the imitation crab inside. It'd probably be worth your money if they changed that about their rolls. But I mean for Gilroy, it's not that bad. I'd pick this place over Ninja Sushi. Buuuuuuut... I'd drive to San Jose for 20x better sushi. read more

Absolute favorite sushi place in the area! I would go here more if it were not a bit far from my home. I love the Red Dragon or Hot Night rolls. Miso is always a solid go to. Cute sushi place. Came on a Friday night and it was pretty busy, but we were able to get seated pretty quick. Service was nice, but soooo slooooow. I swear, it took a good 10-15 minutes for our order to be taken, and then another 20-30 minutes to get our order. We were so hungry. Also, didn't appreciate the fact that one of our rolls that had finished earlier was sitting up on the sushi bar for almost 15 minutes while they waited to finish the rest of our rolls. Quality of food was ookay. Nothing soo good that I'd have to have it again. Don't think we'll be back unless we're in the Gilroy area and really craving sushi. Stopped by this place on 9/6/18. It was my first time (thanks to Yelp) and I'm soooo glad it led me here. I was in Gilroy for a Dr's appointment so I yelped any sushi places nearby. This spot popped up with many good reviews. Atmosphere was perfect! It felt welcoming, open and had plenty of seating. Not too loud, not too quiet. The host was absolutely wonderful. She took my order to go and while seating and answering phones, she still managed to keep me company while I waited for my order to-go. Great service! I was recommended the 49 Roll and something else with the word Pink in it, BOTH were delicious!! The fish portions in top of both my rolls were very, very generous. Not skimpy at all. Prices were pretty average for a sushi spot, I paid $30 for 2 rolls. I definitely want to come back and try dinner here! read more

The FAMOUS GILROY GARLIC EDAMEME is a must have!!!! The sauce is made to order and is freaking DELICIOUS!!! It's a really big portion (probs for 3+ people not 2), but it's so good that you can't stop eating it. Now to the sushi - the PINK ROLL is to die for. I didn't get sauce on it and I used the extra sauce from the edamame as my sushi dip. I also grabbed the California Hand Roll and a few pieces of Nigiri. Really good quality!!! My husband got the 49er ROLL which he loved cause he's a tuna guy. I'm not a fan of tuna especially spicy tuna.. but this roll wasn't bad. Went in with my mom during lunch. Seeing that it was super full. So we wait by the reception. There was a girl and a guy. BOTH OF THEM did not say hello or noticing that we were there, but just talking to each other. Then I saw another girl coming, so I said hi. Sooner she asked did we make a reservation. I said no. Then she just walked away. So I asked the guy do I need to make a reservation to be able to eat there. He told me no, but I might have to wait for 2 hours. Well, I worked in a restaurant for 4 years and I know that means they DO NOT WANT TO SERVE US. So I just walked out the door and go else where with my mom. With this kind of service, I hope this place will last longer. Or at least they know how to hire right. Not gonna go back since I saw other people saying they give bad service at night time too.
