I was here during Father's Day 2026 when I was coming off an Alaskan cruise in Seattle. A large selection of sushi and other items (potstickers, seaweed salad, etc) passes you on a conveyer belt system. If you don't like what you see (that won't be the case), you can order specific food items or other sushi rolls. I personally was happy with the sushi items on the conveyer belt. Right as we walked in, I shoulda listened to the red flags. We were second waiting in line and it took a while for us to be seated. You don't go to a revolving sushi spot expecting the best sushi in town. With places like this, variety is the real appeal. That said, Genki's biggest issue is inconsistency. One visit the sushi is great; the next, it's mediocre at best. What has been consistent, unfortunately, is the steady increase in prices. We used to visit about twice a month, but it had been several months since our last stop before today. This visit was... just okay. At this point, Genki may have run its course for us. Last day in the Seattle area and we were all craving something light and fresh - sushi won. The location isn't so bad, a ton of parking. You are seated and there's a conveyor belt with food you can grab from, or you can order through the QR code as well. Pretty decent sushi and you will get stuffed. I'm glad that we came here because I enjoyed their garlic seared salmon, plain udon, geso karaage, and the mentai seared salmon roll. Probably one of the most expensive conveyor belt sushi places I've been. Salmon nigiri is $4.85 a plate. It's delicious, yes, but too expensive for me to visit often. I'm honestly surprised this conveyor belt sushi restaurant is alive and kicking still. It even outlived Sushiland! My first time at Genki was in Factoria and I was never impressed with their spam and imitation crab stick nigiri. I guess this is good for people that don't want to try raw fish and still want that sushi experience. But for me, this is going to sound super pretentious, this ain't real sushi in my eyes. I mean, yes they do have salmon, tuna, and all that good stuff, but when you only see just the cooked stuff on the belt, I'm going to judge. This Renton location is better though because they do actually put out the raw stuff on the belt. So that's good. I don't know if they use a machine to shape the rice for the nigiri, but they be thick! If you like rice a lot, this is great for you. But this is too much rice for my comfort on a nigiri. I honestly had like 3 or 4 plates before I got full. And normally I would get 8 on average! So that says a lot. And I saw another customer just straight up not eat the rice and created a giant pile! Disappointing. Dejected. Arrived at 7:00 PM on a Friday evening for dinner. We put our name and phone number down for 2 as the hostess said it would be a 30 minute wait. We sat down and waited for less than 10 minutes when she called us. We got seated at a booth table right next to the conveyor belt. A server came and took our drink orders while we were looking at the menu. As we were seeing what we could pick from the conveyor belt, the pictures of the food on the menu looked really good. However, when we selected a couple of California Rolls, Dynamite Roll, Shrimp Tempura roll and a couple of others, they did not taste good at all! For instance, the Avocado tasted old, the rolls were missing salt, sesame oil on the seaweed and some seasoning. California Rolls were very bland. Could only eat it by dipping it into spicy mayo, otherwise it was tasteless. The Shrimp Tempura didn't taste fresh, either. It was missing something as well. Not sure what it was, but all of the rolls were pretty bland. Even the basic egg and Spam rolls were dry, and tasteless. Homemade Spam and Egg tastes much better! I have had much better sushi elsewhere. My 3 favorite sushi rolls were the worst at this place. I suggest more seasoning and fresher ingredients when making the rolls. This is a solid spot to quickly grab some sushi if you are hungry and in a time crunch. My sister and I stopped by Sunday afternoon at about 12:15PMish. We were seated essentially right away and since this is conveyor belt sushi, we didn't have to wait for food to arrive. We just grabbed whatever we wanted off the conveyor belt, which is super convenient and easy to do! The staff were friendly and helpful when we needed their assistance. The restaurant was tidy from what I could tell. It was fairly quiet in terms of noise volume, which was relaxing and made it easy to talk to other people while you eat. It's always fun how you can see everything and grab what you want. Ofcourse, if you know what you want your can order to your specific likings. It's just nice to see your options before you buy. We came Tuesday afternoon around 5:45pm and I'm sure the closing time is 8pm. The waitress had table for us right away, right after we asked for ginger( never got it) and beverages. We realized that the whole conveyor belt 90% was empty, sadly noticed there was one Mexican lady worked very hard to make all those rolls. And the rest of the Asian gang standing around try to get ordered but mostly our orders are never taken at the first place. Three of our rolls made by our Waitress... what is just happened?! They only have rolling sushi on Friday and Saturdays. That was not advertised. Everything is in packets from soy sauce to wasabi and ginger. During your meal they hand you things that you have to reach over the nonworking conveyor belt to grab. Sushi was average in taste. Salmon strips were basically just fried skin. Green tea had almost no flavor, mostly just hot water taste. Ramen tasted like Top Ramen, very plain and nothing special. Service was fine, a bit impersonal. Overall experience was nothing special. When I came in, i was greeted right away and checked on immediately - I liked their positive and friendly attitudes, the employees there seem to have fun together there. As for sushi - I had spider roll, seared salmon, salmon/shrimp tempura roll, and kaarage. The kaarage was mediocre and didn't come with sauce, so I requested for it (spicy Mayo). The prices were kinda obscene, specialty rolls $4 and up a plate, whoa! Inflation has hit the restaurants. I wanted to try their calamari and squid, but they ran out unfortunately. I ordered a dragon roll, california roll, and rainbow roll, as I do at every sushi restaurant. The service was good and they brought me wasabi, ginger, and water, however, the wasabi is in packets.. and not fresh. I have to use multiple packets which are tedious to open. The sushi is cheap, but you get what you pay for. My dragon roll was burnt! And the rainbow roll didn't have any cucumber in it, it's almost comical. I often order takeout from their website and do pick up; the process is very easy and you don't have to wait in line. I have also dined in, and the experience was just as pleasant. A nice place for conveyor sushi, the sushi is conveyor belt quality. They have a machine that forms the rice and someone to put the sig on cover and place on the belt. This could be so much more. They serve wasabi in packets and they give you one, which is not necessarily a bad thing if you don't like a lot, but if you do you need to plan ahead as the staff are very seldom seen. I know is it's a hot button but if you want a tip at the end-earn it, it is not a given that you are going to get your "suggested" 20%. Do more than just drop the settings and water on the table. As far as the variety wow it was stacked with goodness today. The rolls and selection was bountiful. Strange to see cheesecake at a sushi place but what ever floats your boat.
