Just a little diamond in the rough...then again the area is super nice. Before we walked inside, we were expecting more of a stereotypical mass seating sushi restaurant, but I was glad to be wrong. Probably a max of 20-24 customers at a time and it was very intimate. Like many of the restaurant stalls in Japan. It was very cultural and the staff spoke Japanese. The service was amazing as there were on their toes to make sure we were happy. There was no designated waiter/waitress, the team work was perfect. The food was made to perfect and the freshness of the uni and salmon were as if they were fishing it from the back door. We ordered some miso soup, fried squid, salmon nigiri and sashimi, uni, salmon belly nigiri and of course a couple of classic beers. Salmon nigiri and sashimi was generously cut and amazingly fresh. With the temperature perfectly chilled to it melting in your mouth, it was as if we were in Japan. The Uni was even more amazing!! Properly chilled and the creamy texture was beyond perfect. Salmon belly nigiri was succulent and writing this review makes me want to take that 2 hr commute for another round. I forgot to mention the fried squid/calimari. Not many will understand this but the tempura batter was perfectly dipped and the tender texture was amazing. It was not out of a bag, it was freshly cut, battered, and fried there. It was an amazing experience and we will be back for more excitement.

Such a great sushi spot! [[HIGHLIGHT]]A small restaurant but it's such cozy inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I made a reservation after reading the reviews for a Wednesday evening at 7pm but truly didn't need it. They were great once we arrived. We ordered and the food came out so quick! There weren't many customers so maybe that's why. The food was truly so delicious. Specifically the Karaage was perfect and steaming hot- highly recommend that appetizer. Their house salad was larger than expected and so good! The rolls were well made and my whole group enjoyed our dinner. I will 100% be back and recommend for anyone in the area!

Amazing spot. The sushi was so fresh tasting, the service was quick, and each roll was carefully and beautiful constructed. The pork gyozas were amazing as well. My husband and I entered the restaurant an hour before closing and the staff was very accommodating and courteous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is relatively small but very inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was friendly and attentive, considering we were the only diners and it was close to closing. I loved the fact the sushi is uniquely decorated/plated. We truly enjoyed our experience. One small downfall is we weren't too fond of some of the sushi flavors but most were delish.

Love this place for its inventive rolls as well as the quality of sushi here. This is such a cute Resturant near old Fairfax. It wasn't busy at all. The waitresses are so nice and funny. They saw me struggling with eating the sushi and making fun of my bf like why you making her stuff herself, she's dying in sushi We got the md roll because I love crabs. Then, we the sashimi platter and queen platter for 2. The sashimi I really like especially the tuna belly and salmon. You really only need to get the queen platter because that you will fill you up. I definitely think this is a great date night spot especially not being too loud.

Place is small so make reservations to ensure no waiting. Maybe 6-10 tables depending on the groups there. Came here a while ago and wanted to come back to see how it is. The only difference is I was paying the bill and never realized how costly it is compared to other good quality sushi places. I had a reservation that i made over the phone and when i went in they were busy and did not greet me or even acknowledge me. it was busy so I can understand what it's like but after waiting 10 minutes of just standing there, I walked outside to wait and when I saw a couple approach (no reservation) they got seated immediately. Then my party had to wait until another table left to make room for us. Pretty sure my table was given away. Once we finally sat, our waitresses were nice and I could tell were just super super busy. Started off with whitetail sashimi appetizer and it was good, the ponzu sauce it was in was delightful. The scallop and Shrimp entree cost roughly $28, we had not gotten salad or soup with it. It was expensive and not as good as I remembered. The spicy tuna roll was standard and good. The two pieces of white tuna were not the best especially for the price, but it's my favorite fish so I have a high standard. The dynamite roll was a solid 4/10. I asked for a recommendation and she said this one. I knew it would be creamy but not this much. I am not a fan of cream or overloaded sauce on rolls but this was exactly that. I could not taste any fish. Only cream or mayo or something sweet. I would not recommend if you want to be able to taste fish in your sushi rolls. The extra waiting (10 mins) was not a big deal but the dynamite roll and the scallop & shrimp really impacted my recent visit. Maybe if we had ordered one of their floats and shared an appetizer it would have been more pleasant. I also normally don't include total prices in reviews but all of this costed roughly $84 and including tip, $100.

Sushi place with sushi hours. I adore this place, they have really good lunch specials and all of their sushi is super fresh and really good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is definitely a little smaller so finding seating is hard sometimes, but go at like super weird hours or earlier so you can sit and enjoy all the fish and noodle goodness.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their ramen is my favorite, especially in this colder weather, it warms you right up and perhaps a nap after seems appropriate.

I just recently went for lunch with my brother and I need to take off few stars from this place after the visit. We ordered the sushi and noodle special and sushi lite special. We chose ramen as our noodle choice and it was pretty disappointing in terms of flavor. The broth was tasteless and had no depth to it. Sushi and rolls weren't as fresh as I remembered. Now they put this house-made soy sauce jelly on top of every salmon sushi which I thought was interesting but I think I still prefer to dip my sushi in my wasabi-ed soy sauce lol. The service, however is still top notch here. All the servers are on top of everything and very attentive every time. It's too bad I can't call this place my favorite sushi place anymore but I would still come back if I'm craving sushi and in the area. read more

Hands down the best Sushi restaurant I have ever been to in Virginia (and I've been to plenty). It pains me to say that a lot of sushi restaurants are owned and operated by Asians other than Japanese but with Sushi Prince, all of the employees are Japanese. When we got there, it was a packed Saturday evening and people were outside waiting. Though it was busy, the kind hostess immediately sat us at the sushi bar. That's always exciting because we love seeing the sushi chefs work. We could tell the fish was fresh and high quality compared to other sushi places we've been to. There were 3 chefs and they each took care of different parts of the process, making it efficient for a busy night. Even though they were quick, you could see they still took details into consideration and made each roll presentable. Also, they didn't skimp out -- they packed each roll generously. The menu was simple: the focus was on sushi and the entrees were a basic combo of rice and meat skewers. They also had a ramen and udon option. They had a few of the typical appetizers where you can't go wrong like edamame and Gyoza. I ordered the chicken yaki skewer as my entree. Entrees come with miso soup and salad as per usual. We also did a side order of the mushroom yaki (non entree). Both were very flavorful and filling. My boyfriend got the Chirashi bowl and he said it was amazing. It had thick cuts, seasoned rice, and a wide variety of fish. We got the Dragon Roll. The eel was the best eel on a roll I've ever had. Again, very generous with being thickly cut. Service was great! Even though they were busy, they were attentive the entire time and asked how everything was often -- and not in an annoying way. My hot green tea was never left empty. This place is our favorite sushi place in town and by far, the best. Because of the current situation, they now have delivery and offer party platters, udon, and ramen for takeout. We ordered the party platter of $80 with a mix of special rolls and nigiris. It was a great value! You can talk to them to increase the value of your platter if you'd like and custom it the way you like it. We were very satisfied and of course, safe and sound inside our house while enjoying this. Ive been coming here for sushi every time i crave for it. Tonight I arrived at 8:45. When I first walked in the lady said that they are close at 9:30. i made sure and asked her if they can still take us. She said yes. then gave us the seats in a very small table while there are more spacious tables. When we sat down she once again reminded us that they are close at 9:30. YES i know that u guys are close at 9:30 and if you guys are afraid of staying late just tell us a word. we wouldn't bother to walk out and will come by another time!!! When i showed her the pictures of what i wanted to order because i don't remember the name of them so i always keep those sushi photos in my phone but sadly she couldn't even tell which one it is and gave me the wrong one. If she is not sure abt that, couldn't she just say a word. VERY RUSH OUT on tAking our order. When the food came out, the table was too small for those sushi plates she then had to move another table to us. Telling my boyfriend to move his leg while he was eating ramen VERY HOT just so she could set the table into 1. Couldn't she wait just 30 sec for him to finish that bite. I was very upset and couldn't enjoy the sushi at all because of her attitude. My bf had to eat in a hurry just because of her unhappiness. Lastly, she didn't smile at all until she saw the check w good tip. Sushi Prince, u just lost a loyal customer by a bad server. We will never go back for this. read more

You should call ahead and make a reservation in the morning because seating is very limited. If you drop in, they will try to squeeze you in which is anywhere from 0-40 minutes depending on if and how busy they are. I've gone to Sushi Prince several times and always for the sushi+ramen lunch special. The nigiri sushi is generous on the fish and super delicious. I'm also a huge fan on the miso ramen but it tasted "off" the last time I went. It tasted like they used Korean doenjang which has a significantly more pungent and earthy taste than the milder Japanese miso. Hopefully everything is back to usual on my next visit! read more

This place is a hidden gem in Fairfax, VA. The seating in the resturant is very limited, so be prepared to wait a awhile even with a reservation. Besides the wait time, this has to be one of the best sushi spots around the area! I really enjoyed their Dragon roll and it was a bit on the pricer side but it was HUGE! Probably one of the best seasoned eels I've ever had. Come here if you want to eat some really good unagi, and I highly recommend it as a date spot! read more

Best sushi I've had in my 4 years here in Fairfax! The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the food is delicious. I'm not exaggerating when I say our plates were cleared from the table within seconds of finishing, and our drinks never fell below 3/4 full. Excellent service and overall a fun cultural environment. So happy I FINALLY came here for some sushi. This place lives up to the hype - the sushi is the bomb! We started with two apps, the heartbreaker which is basically a jalapeño popper, and the shrimp dumplings. Both had great flavor and came out piping hot. Sushi: spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, volcano, crown royal and the Alaskan. My fav was the volcano roll- spicy but warm and super fresh. Make sure you make a reservation, this place is tiny and people always seemed to be rolling in. read more

Standing ovation! I can't not give another review. This place has the best sushi in all of northern Virginia, the sashimi melts in your mouth like butter and everything is made to perfection! You can see from afar that everything is made with careful detail, the presentation is amazing AND the food is absolutely delicious. From the service to the food, this place is worth every penny. We got the prince, princess, and sushi/sashimi platter, along with the chirashi bowl, and beef tataki (oh my Holy goodness Yum!). read more

One of my go to sushi hubs! It's a little small but very fresh sushi! You'll want to make a reservation especially on the weekend. It's very bright and festive inside. I always try something new here and I never am disappointed. Service is pretty quick and each roll comes with sushi and a side salad! Really enjoyed getting the big platters! Best. Sushi. Place. Ever. No words can do the sushi here justice - the fish is extremely fresh, the portions are ginormous, and the service is fantastic. My family goes here on a monthly basis and we're never disappointed with the food! It's definitely the best sushi restaurant in the NoVA area...without a doubt. I recently came here for my dad's birthday and we ordered their "sushi boat," which I think is called the royal family. Wow - I was nearly in tears when the food came out and had no words to describe how wonderful each slice of sashimi was. This was my second or third time here and I have yet to have any complaint! My friend and I came during lunch on a Monday and there was barely anybody in the restaurant, which was surprising because it is normally super crowded. We shared two rolls off of the a la carte menu-- the King of Dragon roll, and the 007 roll. The 007 roll looked plain and unassuming, but right when i put the first piece into my mouth, i knew i was wrong. It was delicious! I havent had sushi in ao long and I was not disappointed in this. It may not be anything fancy, but the avocado and shrimp are a great combination for your taste buds. The King of Dragon roll was stupendous! I am an eel lover and I love the Kind of Dragon roll. There was just enough sweet soy sauce on it that didnt drench the whole roll, which is a common mistake that a lot of eel themed sushi does. The rel was a great, soft and squishy texture. Perfectly cooked and savory. I really let that sit in my mouth for a few seconds beforing swallowing it so I could soak up all the good flavor. Though small, Sushi Prince is one of my go-to sushi places. I always leave with a full stomach and a good mood. Will come again. read more

This place has uniquely weird rolls like the Japanese lasagna one which is deep fried and oddly is VERY good. This place is so tiny and cozy but gets super crowded easily so definitely come early before the huge dinner rush. Unique and tasty rolls and always a great spot to hit! read more

Just came back from dinner. We ordered the royal family platter in advance and was spectacular. I am so used to having a let down at local sushi places that it really surprised me. Very fresh and very abundant. Also had some delicious appetizers that our server recommended. Softshell crab in a crispy roll with asparagus. It had old bay lightly coming through. Very nice. The chef's choice appetizer varies and is also great. The presentation was wonderful and so were the staff. Tuesday night was still busy with reservations. I would highly recommend this place and make plans ahead with the royal family platter. You will love it. read more

A++ dining experience. Came here to celebrate our anniversary. Friday night = reservations a must! And when they tell you they cancel your reservation if your 15 minutes late they mean it. But don't worry, clearly it's worth it. First off, I loved the decor and music. Really added something special to the meal. Got the following apps: edamame, Gyoza, shrimp dumplings, shrimp tempura. All great! Prince sushi platter, spicy tuna hand rolls. Sushi was amazing. Tasty and fresh and came out nicely arranged and beautifully garnished. Lastly, the kushi yaki. OMG. Do yourself a favor and try one. I had salmon and hubby got the chicken. The flavor was incredible and the meat was cooked to perfection. All of this for under $100! Great service, great ambience, great food, great prices! What more can you ask for? read more

Sushi was pretty good, I came here for my birthday dinner and was seated right away with a reservation. They are very busy that I saw them turning customers away who didn't make a reservation so please do... especially for Friday and Saturday dinners. Ordered a few rolls and Nigiri a la carte, splurged a little for the fatty tuna since it was my bday and the wife was picking up the tab (score!). Tasted very fresh and great flavors overall. Service was good and friendly, special shout out to the wait staff! Only ding is that the portions could be just a tad more, I think the bill was $100 and while I wasn't hungry I wasn't really full either. read more

Yesterday, I had a violent craving for some sushi and tempura shrimp. Today, I tried their lunch sushi bento box. I came at 2pm and the hostess informed me of their 2:30 closing time then immediately sat me at the bar. I was given water as soon as I sat down. Let me tell you why I really enjoyed my time here. Customer Service: 5 The ladies were very kind and provided very quick service. My water glass was never half empty and they were friendly with everybody in the restaurant. Atmosphere: 4 The seating area is small! Reservations is a must during their busy times. At the bar, I enjoyed seeing the sushi chef work his magic. Food: 5 I love sushi but I wanted to try the bento box. For a great price it really had everything. I would definitely recommend a bento box to anybody who wants to try a variety of items. The miso soup was hot. My sushi was delicious. Both the ginger and seaweed salad were fresh. The veggie and shrimp tempura were crispy. Very good buy. I will DEFINITELY be back. read more

For special occasions we love to go to sushi prince for a nice meal. This year because of quarantine for my husbands birthday we couldn't go to have a sit down meal. We ordered pick up and everything was fresh and delicious! We even got a bottle of sake to go with it (should have gotten more than one though it was delicious!). I hope as a community we can continue to support these local business to help them survive these trying times! Make sure to tip even if picking up! Lots of time is put into crafting these meals! read more

My family has been going to this place for years. It's our favorite sushi place in the DC metro area. My kids who are now older look forward to going to Sushi Prince when they come home. Terrible service!! I will never go back there. The restaurant was empty then waitress asked us if we had a reservation. We told her no then she gave us attitude. She tried not to sit us and asked us if we want to do just take out. We tried one more time and she did it again. I know it is a small restaurant and I understand if it was full but there was only one person eating. When we were leaving she said next time make a reservation or do take out instead with attitude. Well there will be no next time and I will never go back there. There are many other sushi options than this place. read more

Great sushi. Nice friendly staffs. The restaurant is not difficult to locate. There is a great number of parking in the shopping center. Price is pretty high but it's nothing special for a sushi restaurant. The restaurant is quite small. I always made a reservation ahead of time so I won't have to wait in line. Definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone who enjoys decent sushi! read more

We came for lunch without reservation. We got 3 sushi's one was the pina colada! Delightful to say the least! Their royal roll is spicy and edgy. Went with a friend right when they opened for the evening. The ambiance is to die for! They have the cutest decor and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly and helped my friend and I choose what roll we should order. Sushi was beautifully displayed and tasted any better, so although Sushi Prince is on the pricer side, it is worth it! Will definitely be returning back soon! read more

I don't remember what was in it but it was yummy. Hot/cold. Mayo goodness. MEH: -Volcanic Mountain. Deep fried Lobster Salad and Spicy Tuna $7 Didn't taste much of the "lobster" salad. I was here last Saturday 9/28 without reservation there was a limit for the sitting. I was lucky that I could find a seat at the sushi bar. I have ordered Volcanic mountin for appetizer and ordered sushi and sashimi platter and saba uni toro amaebi hamachi scallop and lasagna rolls. Service: even tho the restaurant was full we were able to get good service from the both servers. Personally doesnt appreciate when server keep coming and ask if i need anything but aervers from Sushi prince checks on you on right timing. Also every time when i visited and had to wait foe my food Chef Tak always offers complementary small portions of appetizers so that I dont feel left out at all. Atmosphere: This is small warm restaurant but its clean and the decorations on the wall and the ceilling are amazing. Not too much. Food: i would say this restaurant has the MOST AMAZING QUALITY OF ALL SUSHI. I have always experienced right temperature of sushi and the freshness. Some other restaurants use unfresh sushi for rolls but even any rolls at sushi prince Chef Tak uses all fresh ones. I'm confidently sure because I have seated at the sushi bar and be able to look at the Chef how he makes his sushi. Prices: they have average cost for the sushi or other hot food. It's not too cheap or its not too expensive. I kept hearing about this place, so last weekend I decided to go try it out with a girlfriend. The first time we arrived they were packed so we had to return an hour later which was a double edged sword. We were hungrier so the food was much more appreciated but we were hungrier so we had no patience at all. Luckily never once did we feel for a moment unattended. The staff were very polite and they were at your table the moment you needed something. The food took a while but I think that was just because of our hungry stomachs. It was wort the wait however, as the fish was almost ridiculously fresh and delicious. The restaurant was small but simplicity is perfection in some cases and the mixture of the tight atmosphere with the homey nice staff and the delicious food, make this restaurant one of the best sushi places i've been to. read more

I had an excellent experience with my lunch order, and at $18, it was truly a steal for the amount and quality of food! First impressions were amazing--the packaging was neat and organized, which made the presentation super appealing. The bento box had a variety of sushi, fresh veggies, and seaweed salad that were all vibrant and fresh. The sushi rolls had the perfect balance of flavors, and the rice was cooked just right. The sides were also great, with crispy tempura that wasn't greasy at all. However, one downside was that the shrimp in the tempura wasn't de-veined, which is a bit disappointing. I wish there is less then one star to give those shady people in sushi prance we went to sushi prince tonight,I love uni The first uni I eat it felt little old the second one I put in my mouth I felt it was nothing but bitterness I felt my mouth got numb, I informed the server about it she said really we got the uni yesterday,one thing for sure I know how fresh uni it should test,she terns and tell the Sushe guy they started talking and smiling to each other and she started to ignore us she doesn't even said anything about it after that she stopped serving us she send another server to finish her job on our table,that was unprofessional and bad quality old uni they underestimate Americans BIG mistake Shame on them. This place is the shit. I cannot go a week without eating sushi. Yes I am a sushi maniac. I went to Sushi Prince several times with my friends and we tried A LOT of sushi and they are all great. I recommend the King of Dragon roll and the Crunch Infinity. I cannot go to any other sushi places after eating here. The food is fresh and the store is clean, great service and the atmosphere is romantic. The way they decorate the food is like art. I could see how much effort the people who work here put into making and serving the food. I was very pleased with everything. Come check this place out. You won't regret it. read more

This cozy Japanese restaurant, decorated with vibrant parasols and paper lanterns, is a true gem near old Fairfax City. The food is outstanding. The sashimi is incredibly fresh, with no hint of defrosting, and practically melts in our mouths. The chirashi has a good assortment of fresh fish, and the miso ramen features a tasty broth with bean sprouts that perfectly complements the noodles. One of the best sushi experiences I have ever had! I have been to sushi restaurants all over the country. I decided to try their chirashi bowl and it was amazing! They give you a very generous portion of sashimi and a bunch of other tastie treats not just rice. The second I walked into the restaurant I could feel that this is the real deal. Checked this place out on Yelp and came here today for lunch, very happy we did. Been in the mood for some sushi for some time now. When we arrived we the hostess seated us quickly and brought waters. I ordered a lunch box of tuna/salmon with miso soup. Everything was fresh and full of flavors. The sushi here is super creative and really fresh. While I am pregnant now and can't stomach even hearing the word "fish," I look forward to the day I can eat sushi again so I can go back to Sushi Prince and try out some different makis. One tip: The place is realyl small, so I would suggest making a reservation. The frist time we went we tried to walk in and it didn't work out. So plan ahead! it's totally worth it. read more

We have been to this restaurant twice. The first was carry out and the food was so good that we decided to try it again but this time we wanted to dine in. The restaurant is really nice and clean. The staff is nice and the food is incredible. It was just as good the second time around. We have absolutely nothing but good things to say about this place. O M G. I have had sushi everywhere I go and that Wes the best I have had with the sole exception being at the Grand weilea Hotel in Hawaii. I just wish I had a reason to visit Fairfax more offen. the fatty tuna was amazing the service was very prompt, my hot tea was constantly refilled (and I drink a lot of tea) and the food presentation was great. If you like sushi go here you will then love sushi. read more

Very small restaurant, but it makes it cozy and inviting. The staff is always very friendly and very helpful. They are very attentive and you can tell that they want you to have a wonderful experience. The sushi is amazing! Went here with my family for our family time and I cannot tell how satisfied we were eating here. The place is good although it's in a strip mall, so decent and the food is delicious. Their sushi is just one of the best sushies I've tasted so if you ever feel like you're craving for some, you gotta visit this place. The staff were polite and their service was okay. I would rather not eat sushi anywhere else. My significant other and I have become regulars here and have never had a poor experience. The servers are so kind and friendly and the food is always phenomenal. We have tried just about every specialty roll and I'd recommend them all (esp. Las Vegas Roll). You know it's authentic when the customers are Japanese as well. Only disappointment is they don't have fried rice or yum yum sauce which my husband loves.
