Honestly, the food here is subpar compared to the other locations. On top of that, almost every time I pay cash, I end up waiting an extra 5-10 minutes just to get my change because they literally do not have a cash register at all. The employee himself told me to leave a review about it. I've complained more than five times and nothing has changed. I honestly don't understand how a business operates without even having a register for cash payments. We've given this place so many chances. We come here often and have been to multiple locations of this restaurant, but this one is by far the worst. Every single visit, the service is unbelievably slow and unprofessional, and the food always tastes off. This time was the final straw. We actually found pieces of hair in our food. The sushi bar looks absolutely disgusting, especially where they keep the raw fish, and it doesn't seem like they sanitize anything. To make it even worse, there was NO AC, so it was hot, uncomfortable, and overall just miserable to sit there. It's extremely disappointing, especially after repeated visits hoping for improvement. I'm giving it 4 stars only because my experience was not the best as soon as my mother and I walked in. We stood for a couple of minutes at the front of the door, waiting for a hostess. We saw that no one came so we made our way towards the sushi bar. At the sushi bar, the two gentlemen behind the bar didn't even bother to look up at or address us. The hostess was behind the bar and we asked if we could sit anywhere. She made her way to our table and gave us menus. That's when the experience improved. She took care of us by providing good customer service and the food was delicious. I have tried different Sushi Sakes in Coral Gables, MDCollege area and Kendall Dr. This food was awful, ingredients looked withered, the 'miso soup' was tepid watered down broth with 4-5 teeny tiny pieces of miso. I didn't finish the food for fear of getting ill. Never returning. Hope there's far better options of mid-day sushi restaurants in far west Kendall. Wish national restaurants with great food would give west Kendall a chance at opening a locale here. We are in need of decent tasty options! Disappointed. Yelp and google both say Sushi Sake is open until 12am. The lie detector determines that is a lie. We were turned away at 10:30pm because they are "closed" The couple behind us also seemed disappointed. Also, I lied in my last review.. I would rate them a 3 star during my last visit. However I was feeling generous since the server was really nice and seemed very new and because the manager did comp some food to accommodate the multiple mistakes I decided to give them a 5 star based off effort. The 2 extra stars were solely for the effort. 3 stars for the experience. Now they have been bumped to an overall rating of 2 stars based on today's experience. I get takeout from this location pretty regularly and the sushi is average at best but it was always open later than other spots and also the closest to me. On two occasions the sushi we got was 98% rice with a tiny sliver of fish. Ever since then I let the person on the phone know and they in turn tell the sushi chef and that seemed to work just fine. No problems. Recently I didn't mention it to the person taking my order and once again $60 in sushi with 98% rice. I'm not exaggerating, check the picture. I tried to call and let them know (what good would that do) but they were already closed. So I go in a few days later and show the manager a picture of my sushi and he says since I didn't come back right away the best he can do is talk to the sushi chef and after some insistence a 15% off my next order. Needless to say I won't be coming back to this location. I don't need a 15% discount for rolls of rice. The manager seemed fine with my decision to never return. Must be nice during a pandemic in which restaurants are struggling to be able to lose loyal customers so easily.
