Sushi Simon is literally a hidden gem. It's located in a seedy strip center that's not even good enough for a Winn Dixie or Big Lots. I mean, it's an absolute sh!t hole. It's right near Prime Catch though, to give you some point of reference. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but the inside is the definition of feng shui (and yes I know it's a Japanese restaurant, not Chinese). Great ambiance, very chill and a great experience overall. The prices are steep, especially when you consider just how much of a dump the shopping center is, but the sushi is as good as you can get. Once again, Yelp does not fail me. I was searching for a great sushi restaurant using Yelp and I was not disappointed. The previous reviews about Sushi Simon were great and deservedly so. Sushi Simon is in a shopping plaza that I have been in multiple times and never even thought about entering. Last night we decided to try it and see what the Yelp raves were all about. My fiancé almost walked into Rice-the HUGE Asian Fusion restaurant next door. Then he missed Sushi Simon and started heading towards the Quiznos. When we walked in there were no were no host or waiter available and asked the sushi chef where we should sit. They told us anywhere. I noticed that two tables were reserved and found that to be odd. But not soon after, it was packed. Granted, it's a small space and it would get filled up pretty quickly. The decor was modern and warm. The only thing I didn't like was that the women's bathroom lights were red. I felt like I was at a rave. And according to my fiancé, the men's bathroom is blue. We started our meal with drinks of course! I noticed another patron was drinking a lychee martini and I HAD to have one. They did not disappoint. We ordered the steamed shrimp sui mai and the plating was beautiful. They also tasted amazing. They were so cute too! They looked like little buttons. We decided on the North of the Border roll, the Hamachi Jalapeño roll and the eel sushi roll. They were plated beautifully. The servings are a bit smaller than I was use to but the flavor and the quality of ingredients used were top notch. Overall, Sushi Simon is definitely one of the best places to get sushi in Boynton Beach. Just be prepared, as your wallet will feel a lot lighter when you leave. read more

The sushi rolls were great! Nice and fresh and really pretty presentation. We ordered five rolls for two people: (1) Salmon California Roll, (2) JB Deluxe Roll, (3) Sexy Tuna Roll, (4) Volcano Roll, and (5) South Beach Roll. Usually, we eat four whole rolls, but we were really glad we ordered five as the rolls were a bit smaller than we are used to. The service could be improved.... Sushi Simon would have got five stars from me, except they forgot to bring our appetizer (pork and vegetable gyoza), and when they brought them (after the sushi rolls were already served) they seemed to be a little but rushed as the dumplings were full of water. Sushi Simon is a little pricey, but it's also some of the best, most freshest sushi I've ever had. You get what you pay for right? I wouldn't eat here all the time if I lived close by, but it's good for a special treat. It's located in a strip mall and it's a small space inside, but outdoor seating is also available, though there isn't plenty of that either. But don't let that dissuade you! The decor and atmosphere is really nice. I've found the service to be great and attentive without being overbearing but I say that only having been here twice - most others seem to not agree. The sushi rolls are a great size, and they put thought into the food presentation. They also have a decently sized drink selection, but I haven't had any of them. Shame, right? Shame shame shame. small location huge tables which is a little odd. service is decent, kind, not too speedy. the menu isn't huge but they have good options for real sushi lovers. and CRAB lovers including alaskan crab rolls. the quality of the food is super fresh. and although the price is a bit on the high side, the rolls are huge and i think, worth the money. miso soup was very salty which i enjoy and gyoza was a bit plain. all in all great experience for a quick lunch. read more

Wanted to try out a nice local restaurant while visiting the family. Thanks to my sister she took us to Rice but they were closed. We just walked next door to Sushi Simon. We had a party of seven. We sat outside; a perfect evening for sushi. We ended up ordering six rolls: crunchy roll (no creme cheese), California, spider roll, 2008 roll, & two others from the day's special. Oh, I cannot forget the visual & tastefully titillating appetizer of sliced snapper. You've got to try that dish, it is a must! Too bad I didn't take any pictures to document the great sushi I had. I was too busy enjoying the food & the moment with the family. The food was on par with some of my other great eats. However the wait staff was okay. We had at least three waitresses helping us out. But I felt as if something was missing from the service, can't seem to put my finger on it. Will definitely come back to this great local restaurant whenever I'm in town visiting family. read more

For a small place in a bit of a strange location, this little Sushi joint rocks! Super fresh fish and great varieties of rolls that I'd never had before. Went here a few weeks ago before moving to Orlando. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is because of the price. This is BY FAR, the most expensive sushi place I've ever been to. Yes, the fish is fresh, and the service is not bad.. BUT the prices are nothing short of RIDICULOUS.. and the portion sizes are way too small for the price. I really wanted to like this place, but it was just way too expensive and the portions were just way too small. The sushi I had was great, but could easily be gotten AT A REASONABLE PRICE at any other place in Delray/Boca. Also, if you look at almost any one of the reviews below, they all mention something about this place being way OVERPRICED. We had a reservation for 630 on 12/28/21 and when we arrived they had no record of any reservation. They were nasty about the whole situation. we were out with 3 elderly women and the way they treated us was disgusting. Thankfully Sushi Jo, right up the block was very accommodating and treated us like human beings. Needless to say, will never return to Sushi Simon again. More stars for them. I still continue to get my finger salad and veggie rolls but I recently tried mochi and boy oh boy is it amazing. I've tried red bean, green tea, and vanilla bean. Sounds so weird but it's the best things in he world. My favorite is a classic vanilla bean. With the chewy exterior and delicious ice cream on the outside I can never eat enough of it! Hands down the best kind of ice cream. But it's even better because it's mochi that exterior makes all the difference!! read more

Wow, worst sushi my wife and I've ever had. The fish was almost non existent, and tasted fishy and old. We had been told about this palace by friends and just had to try it, only to find out from those same friends that they no longer go here because it's gone down hill significantly. When we told the waiter that the food was sub par he just walked away and never came back. Instead we had to find another waitress to bring us our bill. WAY Negative - Stopped serving at 9:45PM on a Saturday night, and did not inform anybody of this. When we went to order more, we where told, "We already had last call." Now this place is not exactly large, so if they announced this, they did it in their head. Also, last call meant EVERYTHING, no food, no drinks, everything. I have been coming here since it opened, it is our special occasion/can't go any longer with out having it - place. I have taken people from all over the world here and they have all said it was amazing. Advice, Don't get a normal roll, get the special rolls. My top three are no name, dum dum, and coo coo. in that order. Seriously, anyone that doesn't rate this place five stars is doing it because it is too expensive (it is pricing for the specialty rolls), because the service was not up to their standard (I could see this, but it's always been good for me, but then again I am easy going with this and they know me pretty well), or because it's in a dinky strip mall. I found it amusing that this little spot is located directly next to a giant restaurant named rice, where sushi is on the menu. However, after enjoying a lunch here, I get it! They have a good selection of cold sake, filtered, unfiltered, dry, sweet etc. I also like that they have an ever changing menu of rolls and fish that I haven't ever seen on a menu. For example, I ordered the golden tilefish sushi which I've never seen being served. The rolls were great, and unique. A little pricey but worth it. Wow - what a surprise to find great, fresh sushi beneath the generic neon "SUSHI" sign! You'd never guess how good this place is from the location and exterior. I can't believe how long I've been driving past this place without going inside. I had a green salad and the ginger dressing is tasty. I can't eat shellfish so my choices were limited but that's nothing unique to Sushi Simon; everything I did have was fresh and tasted great. They even had Alaskan wild salmon, not that low tide tasting Atlantic garbage. I had a roll and some a la carte sashimi. The presentations were excellent. My friend had a couple of the $25 rolls with the lobster along with several other things. Our bill came to $117, which is the most I've ever seen for sushi but my friend thought it was plenty of food. The service was efficient and pleasant although nothing remarkable. I wish I'd seen all the specials available on a small menu that I'd assumed was a wine list. Too late I noticed all the unique, rotating items. I look forward to returning soon! read more

The hype is well-deserved... Sushi Simon blew me away with deliciously fresh sushi, a service staff that seemed genuninely concerned with our experience, and a great atmosphere. We had a 9PM reservation, and arrived a bit early. Our table, understandably, wasn't ready... but the staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had drinks in hand. They were a total class act from start to finish. Starting off, we ordered the soup that they had on that night's special menu, called "The Crazy Lucy", and my wife commented on how it was the best soup she's ever tasted. This was a spicy miso soup with a generous serving of dumplings drifting among the fresh veggies and tofu. Really good and flavorful. For the main course, we ordered 3 rolls. They all exceeded my expectations. Fresh, tasty fish, perfectly balanced with the other ingredients... and not overly sauced, which is very important to me. Yes, you may pay a little more than you do at your current favorite sushi spot, but I still say that you should pick a special night and enjoy some sushi here. OK Sushi with attitude! Poor management!! We have enjoyed OK quality sushi for the most part at SS on a regular basis. Last night after returning from an extended stay in NYC, we decide to have some sushi at Simon. First of all we must say that the servers are all great. We had some of our favorites as usual but everything was just a little off. The wild salmon was rubbery and tasteless. We actually mentioned that the Toro was sub-par and sent it back. Thats when the problem started the waitress was fearful and had to ask Lucy what to do?? we were then told Simon says you must pay for half the toro !! We have never sent a dish back at any other restaurant and have been asked to pay for it. BTW: We are foodies and I do have a food blog andour average bill with sake at Simon is well over 200 dollars. I politely told our nice waitress to inform Simon that if he insists on treating us in this unprofessional manner we will not return. He did and we have eaten our last meal at Simon..... I have a little departure ritual from Tokyo - before I leave I always stock up on my beloved sushi because I know it's soon back to burgers and turkey sandwiches.... Nearby the train station there is a fantastic little sushi place fit for "Diners' Drive In's and Dives"...quiet, comfortable, a little off the beaten path (to the extent that this exists in Tokyo!), but with just amazing sushi and adoring/attentive staff. My husband and I have been to this restaurant several times over this past year. Our favoritism of this place has totally diminished. The waitresses are very unpleasant and pushy. They don't try to be helpful or courteous. We felt like they were rushing us . The prices are high without any kind of atmosphere The rushed us and were rude. I don't recommend this place at all. They were taking our dishes away while we were still eating. They should have asked us, how's everything? Can I get you anything else? How's your dinner this evening. Thank you for coming. Not one kind word was spoken. So rude.. save your money or go to a different restaurant. We eat dinner out at least 3 to 4 times a week and can say this place lacks in the important things that creates a happy customer who looks forward to going back. I have eaten here many, many times over the years and believe this is the best sushi in Palm Beach County. While that is a low bar to clear (better sushi is in Miami) this place delivers tasty, fresh sushi all the time. It's expensive and some people complain about upcharges but in terms of cost, you get what you pay for. The Very Sexy hamachi jalapeño roll is a particular favorite, with its own sauce. Have had basically everything on this menu. Some of my favorite rolls are: Ocean Dragon Roll (even though i usually avoid anything tempura i was surprised how good this is), South Beach roll, No Name roll, Ocean Ridge roll, Snapper (when they have it) Heaven Roll are some of the best "signature" rolls. The crystal roll is a smaller roll but surprisingly good. Other rolls with red snapper and Japanese snapper, when available are also excellent. We also get a lot of sashimi and some sushi. The escolar is a favorite, the tuna is good not great, the hamachi is excellent and the only one I am avoiding lately is the wild salmon, which, for some unknown reason, is not as good as it used to be. Pro Tip: Always ask them what the fresh fish of the day is. When they have red snapper or mutton snapper it's excellent as sashimi or in one of their roles. I'm not a huge fan of the striped bass which they have often. Pro Tip #2: The servers are very good; ask them what they like and recommend. I discovered some rolls i would not have tried by doing that and those rolls are some of my favorites. read more

Even though I don't do sushi nearly as much as I used to, I have tried many local sushi restaurants and overall this is the "go to" place for me during the week. Let's talk sushi now... super fresh and excellent selection, but tend to come apart sometimes. Gone are the days of california rolls and simple rolls (any sushi shop can pump out the easy stuff), I like the specialty rolls and for that this place is great. I don't think their sushi is the best in Florida, but the selection is up there and very fresh. My recommendations: dumb dumb roll, sexy tuna roll and rainbow roll (you can thank me later). Oh ya' ....Pair your sushi with your favorite sake (warm or cold) and you are set! I have been here many times and have never had anything but a great experience. Read some great reviews so I had to check it out. The good folks at Sushi Simon did not disappoint. The food was great across the board. Had a couple specials; rainbow tartar that was incredible, and the trout tokyo style fish was very fresh. Will be coming back again for sure. The chef sauces were all amazing as well. Also a crazy lucy special soup which was basically miso on steroids was great as well. Don't go for the ambiance as we were seated outside due to it being pretty packed on a sunday night and on the sidewalk at a strip mall isn't exactly ideal but they could have sat me in the bathroom for all i care. Pros: Very fresh fish. Wide variety and selection. Beautiful presentation of rolls. Very very tasty food overall. They are very open to customizing rolls. Cons: Pretty expensive. We ordered one of their "special" rolls and it was $25 for just 8 pieces. Small restaurant and awkward layout. We were crammed in a corner by the door. Saw another yelp review that recommended the Lychee Martini. A little sweet for my taste but not bad. We got an order of the Pork Gyoza that the server recommended and were pleased. I am giving Sushi Simon a 4 star rating because of their high prices. However, if you take pricing out of the mix, I give the sushi 5 stars. I had dinner here the other night with some friends, and while I have been here once before, I really noticed how delicious the sushi was this time around. I highly recommend the Sexy Tuna roll- by far the best roll that I tasted that night. I ordered the Salmon Skin roll which was also delicious. They have a good wine selection as well- both high and low end pricing. The ambience is great as well- you do not feel as if you are in a strip mall sushi joint (although it is in a strip mall). To top off the meal, I ordered the tempura cheesecake for dessert and it was phenomenal-- cheesecake fried in batter, with a side of ice cream and chocolate sauce. Despite the prices, I would definitely come here again because the food was so good. read more
