I don't normally give out low reviews but I had to on this one. I've never been to Sushi Spot before, but I've heard a lot of good reviews about this place. My friends recommended it so I took my wife here to try. Parking is shared with a bunch of other establishments in the complex. Restaurant is nicely spaced out although there aren't much tables. Still spacious nonetheless. We bought several roles here and some fried oysters as appetizers. Wife had the California and my sister had a ahi roll. I was the only one who had Salmon, which was on the dragonfly roll and I was the only one that got food poisoning. Could've been the salmon or Ebi or Unagi but my roll was different. All I could taste when I was throwing up was the salmon. Both my wife and sister was fine. Bad batch may be. Would I give this place another try...maybe...but maybe I'll stick to the cooked stuff. read more

My husband and I went to sushi spot for his birthday and had just the best experience! The staff were so welcoming, friendly, and kind immediately upon entering, and really impressed us the whole time. We ordered our sushi rolls alongside the fried oysters and loved every single bite. You also get miso soup when you sit down and that is always a favorite of ours. The place was cozy and able to be busy without being overwhelming or crowded. Went here with my boyfriend, and it was his first time and my second time coming here. The servers were really nice, and would always check up on us. I got the chirashi bowl, and my boyfriend ordered two rolls. I also ordered the unagi temaki which was SO GOOD. I dream of the salmon sashimi here. Seriously, some of the best quality raw salmon I've ever had. I ordered the salmon lovers (salmon nigiri, sashimi, and maki roll), and the salmon was so fatty that you could see the oil in the soy sauce after dipping. Second time here I tried the chirashi, and it did not disappoint. I haven't tried any of the rolls or non fish items, so I'll update when I get the chance to try it. This is not your high end, trendy sushi place. This is mom and pop casual spot that happens to serve excellent raw fish. Parking isn't too bad in the lot, but I've also only come here for a solo lunch. Complimentary miso soup, fast and attentive service, and high quality raw fish. The sushi was so delicious, fresh, and the prices weren't bad at all. 5 rolls, one appetizer, and two sodas came out to $80, which was really great, especially since the portions are really good! We ordered the Baked mussels, Calvin's choice roll, kamikaze roll, Spicy hamachi roll, Red dragon roll, and Volcano roll. Also, the service was great! They were really personable and friendly. We came around 6pm and had to wait maybe 15-20 mins. It got really busy at around 630, so definitely want to come early if you don't want to wait. The restaurant itself could probably seat 24 max, so it fills up pretty quickly. Definitely going to be a go-to! read more

REALLY good sushi, located conveniently in Aeia. The location is not exciting or welcoming, but there is lots of parking. They don't have much seating and they do seem to serve primarily takeout. They are open during the Covid-19 crisis for takeout, which is nice. We ordered many of the sushi rolls and they were all good. Our favorites were the Titanic and the Red Dragon. The Dancing Shrimp and the Stuffed Jalapeño options were also really good. The only roll that we wouldn't order again was the one with spicy scallop on top (we can't remember the name). Many of the rolls are quite similar and they are on the large side so we weren't able to finish everything that we ordered. Our main suggestion is to order the fried oreos for dessert. My boyfriend is a frequent visitor of Oahu because of the military. He has always told me this is hands down his favorite sushi spot (literally) in Hawaii. I am a sushi fanatic so my first night here visiting he brought me here and I was NOT disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the staff was so incredibly helpful and friendly. Once we ordered, our sushi was at our table in less than 5 minutes which is the fastest I've ever got my sushi anywhere ever. Here are some tips: 1) Don't call unless you can speak japanese or chinese. 2) Parking is plentiful around this strip mall 3) Check the refrigerator where they fresh fish sit before ordering 4) You need to ask for tea, water is delivered soon after you are seated 5) Plan for a leisure meal; there is only one sushi maker and one server (at least, for the lunch hour) I ordered the Chirashi which was actually very nice. The fish was fresh and the rice was seasoned to perfection. My dining partner ordered the assortment and the infamous California Roll (inverted) The California Roll was impressively stuffed. Very hole in the wall place and the food was satisfying. A lot of the times, when businesses have more "funky" hours it's a big green flag because you know they make good food hahaha! My friends and I dined in for dinner (around 6) no reservation, but I think it's best to have a reservation because the place was filling up quickly. We were lucky enough to be seated right when we walked in. Our orders were Calvin roll, dragonfly roll, red dragon roll, red spider roll, baked mussels, kamikaze roll, unagi donburi, tamago, and ahi roll. It was DELICIOUS. I think our favorites were the Kamikaze and the Red Dragon. We loved that for the red dragon, the ahi was SHREDDED! Mouthwatering YES! Our server was great too, he was so sweet and kept making jokes with us. His jokes were hilarious because he wasn't shy or subtle about it-- AT ALL! And that's our type of humor. I wish I got his name. The place was on the cozier side, hence why I suggest the reservations haha. Also the parking was NOT BAD at all, we parked really close. Located off of Moanalua road in aiea sushi spot is serving up some of the most tasty sushi in the area. This little mom and pop restaurant has roughly 8-10 tables and is the perfect little hole in the wall spot to take someone for a nice dinner without having to drive all the way in to town. Today I got to try two of their signature rolls: the red dragon, and Calvin's choice. Both rolls were huge ! Although most rolls are a one biter, these were so huge I really had a hard time just trying to get everything into one bite! I also got to try their sashimi deluxe, along with their salmon nigiri. rolled up in da g-ride on Saturday to sample this place. walked in and immediate got greeted and seated by a very nice, polite and attentive lady. the dining area is very clean and table was neat, got a hot miso soup and water plus got menus. few minutes go by and i notice theyre playing korean music and the sweet lady takes our order. we decided to try a bunch of stuff. to start we wanted to try their agedashi tofu. so warm soft tofu with just the right amount of fried mochiko crust, a pile of katsuboshi waving on top and savory tsuyu dashi beneath. was ono, usually im used to a lil mirin in the tsuyu. da wife likes salmon so she ordered the salmon salmon roll. was salmon and avocado on a salmon roll. might have had cucmber... she liked it... thats why had missing pieces in da picture. haha i like ahi so i ordered a spicy ahi nigiri. had 3 pieces. i thought was ono. waitresses were super attentive checking on us frequently. they refilled our waters and shoyu. we also tried a kamikaze (salmon/ahi baked/raw) roll for good measure. we thought was good. oh yah. we thought was like sushi share style and wanted something crispy so we ordered a chicken katsu. brah they brought a whole meal plate out. had salad and rice and sauce and super crispy ono katsu. so just know its not like pupu kine... its a whole plate if u order that. was ono... mean mop sesh! these yobos make ono sushi! recommended! read more

I've come here a few times within the last couple of years, but never really tried their sushi. I know. I'm crazy. I was never really a big sushi eater. But, I came with a family and finally tried their sushi and boy have I been missing out. We came on a Saturday night around 8pm, but we had called right before we came to ask if they had any tables open. As many people have said, the place is very small with only maybe 5 or 6 tables. We got greeted immediately and ordered food. We got the spicy mochiko chicken, stuffed mushrooms, Calvin's Choice, Red Dragon, Volcano, mandoo, hamachi sashimi, unagi nigiri, and spicy tuna gunkan. The Red Dragon was my favorite, but I was also surprised by the stuffed mushrooms. I love that it was filled with crab meat and ahi. Sooo good! Also, their spicy mochiko chicken is what I've ordered in the past from them and it never fails me. The owners are actually Korean hence why they have homemade mandoo on the menu, but just as good as your favorite Korean restaurant. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was great! I believe one of the owners served us and he was super friendly and was even poking some fun at me while I took pictures of the spread. Food came out fast as well and boy, was it such a great meal. I'm so glad this place is on the west side and recommend it to anyone looking for the best, affordable sushi. I always come here to eat sushi and even recommended it to all my friends but not anymore. Not coming back. Tonight, my daughter went to buy the Red dragon sushi for her and Calvin's choice for me for to go. She came home with the orders and has only 1 chopsticks and 1 miso soup. Terrible and so irritating. Poor quality service!! I know it just chopstick and miso soup missing but they should've check if everything in the order is complete. Calvin's choice was so dry also and not good. So that makes me more annoyed with my order. See the picture! Next time, sushi spot, make sure that all orders are complete even in your busiest time. I don't even know where to start but I'll keep it simple, definitely try this place! The food is amazing. I will for sure be coming back in the future. Plenty of parking where it is located (near Aiea town square) . This place does take reservations. We came in for dinner at 4:45pm by 05:30pm the restaurant was packed, it is a smaller restaurant so if you are planning of having a bigger group of people for dinner or want dinner later in the evening definitely make a reservation.
