Each roll was huge... but extremely underwhelming. This place was so well reviewed, I was excited to try it. Maybe the gold lies in the sushi boat with nigiri and sashimi and some signature rolls or the thai dishes like I see pictured on other reviews. MAYBE we just ordered some bad quality rolls. I went to Sushi Thai Cary for dinner with family. I sat at the booth in the corner and had ants crawling on me and on the table and into my food the entire meal. I informed the waiter several times but he did nothing to remedy the situation. There was one other booth open but he did not offer to change our table. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I don't usually complain but I still feel ants crawling on me after we have left the restaurant. Please address the pest infestation to make dining a more pleasant experience for your valued guests. Where do I start with this place? This place was packed when we went in for dinner at 7:30 PM. However, the staff was sweet and we were seated instantly. They got orders right away and got the night rolling. We ordered gyoza, Thai dumplings, and spring rolls for starters. This was followed by green curry, shrimp tempura dinner, two worlds meet udon, and spicy noodles. The spice levels were perfect and the food was delicious. Delicious sushi. Everyone told me I should try sushi thai last time I lived here but I never made it by. I wish I had. They make really good sushi. I took my kids here and they loved it. I had to get the lobster bomb as the pictures look amazing. It was really good and even at $18 its a good deal for a whole lobster tail and another roll. They make a perfect spider roll, perfectly crispy and the presentation is just how it should be(looks like a tarantula is crawling out of it). The spicy tuna was good but the sauce on it was different than I'm used to. Beauty and the beast was cool. It's basically two rolls, one with tuna and one with eel(pretty cheap too). I don't care much for cream cheese on my rolls but it was the kids order and it was still good. Service was great. Our server was very friendly and explained a lot. I had to complement them on their avocado. I'm from CA and out there we take our delicious, cheap, perfectly ripe avocados for granted. I've had several items with avocados at other restaurants in the triangle and more often than not they are hard or brown. Not here though, here they were perfect. This is a deceptively nice place. One might think an Asian fusion restaurant (they serve Japanese and Thai food) in a dated shopping center with a Big Lots would not be great, but you would be wrong. My order was excellent and spot on. The spring rolls were crisp and flavorful, and the thai basil tofu was just the right combination of spicy and sweet (minty sweet, not sugary sweet). We knew that they would get really crowded on a Sat evening so we got there early. Around 5:30 and there were only a few tables left. Service was good. We will definitely be back! We stopped at STC on our way to Asheville and it was not only amazing food, but the best customer service! Despite arriving only 10 minutes before closing and STC having already completed most of their pre-closing (no other patrons remained), the hostess was incredibly welcoming and happy to serve us. Since she was so friendly, we decided to do a carry-out order so they wouldn't have to stay long past close. The entire time we waited for our food the hostess visited with us and made sure our to-go waters stayed filled. Craving Pad Thai but your lunchmate is craving sushi? Come here! I came in for lunch so I didn't have time for much, but I was really craving pad Thai. I opted for the pad Thai with tofu, that is the most difficult dish because if you don't cook the tofu correctly it doesn't taste right. They definitely get five stars for cooking the tofu properly and the dish was exquisite! I'm going to have to come back and try the sushi. Cute Decor, a lot of locals come here. Update.... Sushi not what it use to be. Rolls are bigger now which I am not a fan of. Does not have the taste it use to have. Sashimi was not good. Not the place its been for years. I will not go back. Tom Yum Soup was only thing still very good... and service was good... hence the two stars. My previous review... Start with a lobster bomb for the table, very good. We had a 4 seasons and rainbow rolls, very good. If you like soup, order a Tom Yum Soup, medium heat. Add a couple of Sapporo's and your sushi experience is complete. The positives are they do a temp check for those dining in, they require you to wear a mask (they sell them for $5 if you do not have one), and staff wear masks. I was there to place a carry out order, so I wasn't looking at the social distancing between tables or customers. They were getting busy and unfortunately between the entrance and hostess/check out area are too close for my liking. I was trying to order and as people were coming in they were literally within two feet of me. Plus they allow people to sit at the sushi bar which again is all in the same area (no spacing). I ordered the seafood Tom Yum (Hot), French sushi roll, and Tofu Pad Thai (Thai Hot). Any item you order you can adjust the spice level to your liking. The seafood Tom Yum was ok but it had a sweet taste to me. It contained shrimp, scallop, mussel, and squid (1 of each) so it was not full of much protein for the price you pay (6.95). The French sushi roll was good but they do not make any substitutions but you can add on for an extra charge. I like spicy mayo with my sushi so that was an $1 upcharge. My tofu pad thai was very spicy, which was a plus but it was also kind of dry. I actually ended up mixing some of my pad thai in with my Tom Yum to take away the dryness and give it more flavor. The portion size was nice as I had plenty of leftovers for the next night. I am happy I gave it a try, but not sure if I would make it a staple of my sushi spots. read more

The salmon... 2 pieces the size of a credit card apiece hammered to death overdone and about a 1/4 cup of veg on the side. Panaang sauce was not even as good as Mae Ploy you buy in the store... pro tip for improvement: maybe switch to that. It was a true disappointment paying at 60 bucks and tipping takeout 10 more. I knew as I carried the bag out it was a skimpy portion but I get times are tough... and I'd accept that if the food was good but without coming across as rude... I could and can make better than this on a sleep deprived day one hand behind my back... If I sold it at the price charged I'd feel guilty but at least it would have satisfied the diner. So yes, choices are good but not amazingly good when the choices are just ok. a popular asian fusion restaurant that's a must visit in cary! i've never been to a thai/japanese restaurant before and there were so many people waiting to try as well. i would definitely recommend reserving a table before hands as it can get busy during dinner rush. however, they were very accommodating when we arrived 10 minutes late to our reservation and just had to wait for a table to be cleaned before being seated. our waitress was very nice and asked us for beverages but when she brought it over, she attended elsewhere without asking if we were ready to order, which wasn't too big of an issue given how busy it was. once we did order, our food arrived 10-15 minutes and we were checked up on a few times with water refills here and there. it was nice seeing other employees helping to gather paid bills so customers weren't waiting for their waiters as again, it was super busy! the food was very tasteful but a little on the expensive side. the rolls were designed so nicely and took a huge mouthful to fit it in one bite! the atmosphere was very lively even with the dim lighting. overall, this was such a cool experience and would definitely love to try some thai cuisine and some dessert next time! read more
