I stopped in on a whim on my way to pick up sushi elsewhere. It was right there and I'd been once before. It wasn't the best - but for the price it was good. Boy, do I regret not driving the extra couple miles. It was 11:30ish and the place was empty. I ordered a few different rolls for takeout and the order was ready fairly quickly. I believe the man who took and handed me my order was the owner. I took it home (1 mile) in the air-conditioned car and put the bag in the fridge. Boy, do I regret not opening that bag and checking the order. Later that day when I finally opened it up, the first two rolls looked and tasted fine. Nice, pink fish and fresh avocado. When I saw the third roll (pictured), I was horrified. One of my other rolls contained salmon and was a normal, vibrant color. This is NOT normal. It's grey! Who on EARTH would think this is acceptable to serve anyone!? Have some pride in what you make and don't insult a paying customer like this. It didn't smell bad, but no way am I ever eating any fish (especially raw fish!) that looks like that. Disappointing waste of money. I will drive the extra 2 miles and pay more next time. Great service! The lady at the register is so sweet with everyone who walks in the door. The sushi was fresh and priced reasonably. My favorite was the Tiger Roll. This place is more for takeout, they have a small seating area but no table service. Order at the register and pick up your order. I only knocked down one star for the wait time. I was told 20mins and it was more like 45mins. They seem really busy so I'd recommend to call ahead or expect to wait. Also, there is a 3.95% card fee if using a credit card so I paid with cash. I think all of us miss Haru Sushi that was located inside of S Mart. This place is a really good replacement for that! I'd say it's a little pricier, which is fair considering the rising food costs, but the quality and the selection is pretty comparable. I have ordered the party tray here twice. It's only recently that I physically went to pick it up (husband did it the first time) so I really got to experience the customer service. The owners are super friendly and nice and just really take care of you. After ringing me up, the lady offered to help me carry the tray to the car. It wasn't even that heavy. She even asked if we wanted extra wasabi and ginger before packing up the rolls. I really enjoy the rolls here. My son and I had come here before to purchase one of their party trays and we were pretty impressed with value of the P1 tray. The kids weren't going to be home for dinner so I mentioned to my wife that we had a good experience at Sushi Time a few months earlier. We looked at the menu online and picked out 3 items that sounded good. We picked out the salmon/mango, the Dragon Roll, and the Langostine Bonsai. Unfortunately, we had no idea how puny these rolls would turn out to be. The Dragon Rolls were about half the diameter of similar rolls purchased at all sushi restaurants we'd ever been to. The salmon mango rolls were like the size of tekka maki and the Langostine Bonsai was underwhelming. I also had no idea they charge a 3.95% service fee for using credit cards. I find that practice to be rather shady when they don't tell you that when you give them a credit card or even show anything about the fee on the takeout menu. Needless to say, I'd only return to order a party tray since their rolls look like they were made in the Marvel Microverse by Hank Pym Laboratory from Ant-Man. A notice about your credit card fee would be appreciated as well. read more

They have a wide variety of rolls--some are on the smaller side so take a look at the pictures on their menu before you order. My family likes their Rainbow Roll and Dragon Roll. Sometimes they're busy and it might take a while for them to make your food if you order there, so it's better to call and place an order ahead of time if you'd rather not wait. Service is excellent. Not sure about this place. First, there was no sign of a credit card service charge. I only saw it on my receipt - over 3%. Would've been nice to indicate that, as I did have some cash on me. I ordered a California roll and seaweed salad for the kiddo and a poke bowl for myself. There's only one long table so you'll have to share with everyone else. The roll and seaweed salad came out first and poke bowl took awhile - 15-20 minutes. As we were dining, there was a woman and man having a very heated discussion in the back. In the back as in a partition separating us and them so we heard the entire conversation. Roll and seaweed salad tasted bland and poke bowl was heavily drenched in sauce. Most places somehow mess up takeout orders but this place really steals the show. Usually pretty quick and staff is always very friendly and personable. Before heading back to the SGV after a morning appointment in Torrance, we decided to stop and pick up some Sushi Time to bring home for lunch. The rolls were actually quite affordable and there was a good variety of choices. They even had a poke bowl and sashimi choices. The staff welcomed us as we entered and waited patiently for us to make up our mind to place our order. We placed our order at the counter and we were told it would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. This is pretty much only to-go, as there's only one table inside and everyone there is huddled around waiting for their orders. Quality is pretty good, and the pricing is a little bit cheaper than Hoka Hoka down the road. I ordered ahead, and the website was a bit confusing to order from as I had to switch browsers to get it to work, and they don't confirm or give you updates after you hit the send button. The website doesn't take payments, so you just send in your order and then pay when you get there. They charge a fee to use credit cards, so I recommend using cash as it's less that way. Though that didn't stop them from being very wholesome--especially the lady in front taking orders. My husband was ordering salmon rolls and he asked if the salmon used in the rolls were fresh--she was proud to let us know that their salmon is fresh and supply originates from Norway and Denmark. Then, while we were waiting we saw her help one person bring all the orders to their car because it was too heavy. She also constantly updates people waiting about where they are with orders and apologizing if the wait is long. She saw me and my husband sitting for a while (which was totally fine because we had a Large order) but she went out of her way to give us MATCHA MOCHIS! My heart. Anyway, when the food was done she endearingly called us up front like her young kids and told us that hopefully it was worth the wait. We waited only around 30 minutes despite them having ONE chef and multiple large sushi roll orders ahead of us. Food was great! It was definitely worth it. Fish was generous; ratio is good--it's literally NOT 80% rice and 20% fish like how you would normally expect for this price point. You get so much for your buck. [Review #784] 2023-071 Food Order: TUNA AVOCADO ROLL, SPICY YELLOWTAIL & CUCUMBER ROLL After 3 attempts based on Google opening date estimate, Sushi Time is finally open. The restaurant is located on the north end of Torrance Star Plaza between Star Dental & It's Boba Time. The restaurant is moderate in size & designed for mainly takeout even though there's space for possibly 1/2 dz. small tables. There's 1 table to the right section that seats 6 along with a few chairs for customers to rest while waiting for their takeout. Upon entry, there's a large fridge on the left that's stocked with Japanese soft drinks (Itoen Teas, Calpico Soda, Ramuné) as well as regular sodas & teas; a bench by the entrance to lounge while waiting for your order; directly in front are 2 freezers stocked with Häagen-Dazs & mochi ice creams, vanilla mille-crepes, swiss rolls, dumplings, sumais, salads, & sauces (which are surcharged: $2.00 for spicy tuna, $1.25 for eel, & $1.25 for spicy mayo). I went after lunch rush (past 1:00 PM) & there was a short internal line in addition to online/phone orders. I was going to use the kiosk to self-order, but it appears there were kinks to be worked out. I asked if I could have my order taken & picked 2 rolls. Their menu offerings & quality seem comparable to Sushi Boy & Haru Sushi (formerly in defunct Smart), but more wallet friendly. I waited about 20-mins. before my order was ready. The server was super sweet & friendly, inquiring if I needed anything else like dessert or a drink; I wasn't interested because I would have to wait in line to pay for the extras. I work across the street so I was back in our kitchen within a couple of mins. Both rolls were surprisingly cold... I would expect the fish to be cool & the sushi rice warm to slightly hot since it's made to order; while the rice was cool, it wasn't hard. I mentioned the menu was reminiscent of Sushi Boy & Haru Sushi, so is the quality. Don't expect omakase quality fish shipped from Japan or even local fish-centric markets. For what it's worth, both proteins were fresh & the ratio of filling:rice leans more on the protein & fillers. I enjoyed both rolls, favoring the spicy yellowtail & cucumber roll (because I like spicy foods, though this wasn't all that spicy... maybe throw in a slice of jalapeño to give it more oomph). The yellowtail is not marinated like the spicy tuna, instead it's drizzled with a spicy sauce. The rolls were smaller in size so the prices seems inexpensive, I would consider moderate for the amount of food. Even with 2 rolls, I still felt hungry that I could get by on maybe 3 rolls. I believe Sushi Time is a Chinese (Mandarin) family-operated business? I overheard the staff speaking to each other in Mandarin as they were trying to keep up with the influx of orders.
