My grandson wanted to eat here for his early graduation! We come here once in a while. We started with a couple of appetizers that were delicious. We had edamame and dumplings and miso soup. They were very tasty. Well all the food was great! What we enjoyed was the hot plates they use for the teriyaki chicken and the galbi short ribs! The sautéed onions were very tasty and sweet. All of the family enjoyed the meal. Service was a bit slow but the house was packed! Waiters did their best! Music was low enough to enjoy the table conversations.

We needed a new East County sushi spot to frequent, and Yi Sushi did not disappoint! Prices and quality are great for this economy. The flights are a great deal if you want to try 4 different rolls but for the price of 2 (or less)! Husband really loved his Sushi Flight C - the Guapo Roll was good and spicy. I enjoyed my Philadelphia roll (I like a good basic Philly, ok?!) - thin cut so that's why my photo has so many pieces. Only critique is that for both of us, a few of the pieces fell apart when we picked them up. Daughter had the Original Miso Ramen, which she liked but thought the broth was just a little too salty. It looked great with the soft boiled egg included and good amounts of pork belly. Service was very friendly! It was a quieter night, not too many customers, and the two servers came by often to make sure we were good. Love that they provide a small pitcher of water for every table - much more convenient for the customer imo! We arrived at 6:50pm, and they allowed us to order whatever Happy Hour items we wanted for the last ten mins of happy hour. (I believe 4-7pm everyday.) The nigiri was so good. Beautifully cut and portioned well over a small bit of rice (as it should be)! A very happy discovery. We will be back!

We arrived at Yi sushi for dinner around 6pm, there was plenty of parking even though they had some of the parking blocked off for construction in the area. We were greeted right when we came in the door and asked to sit anywhere. When you sit down, they immediately bring over the menus as well as an ice cold pitcher of water to go along with the two glasses on the table. I ordered a raspberry iced tea and my husband ordered a sapporo beer. We ordered the sushi combo C and an appetizer of gyoza. All of the food arrived very quickly and it was very fresh. The gyoza was very hot and tasty. All of the rolls in the sushi combo were very delicious and not overpowered by sauce. Yi sushi has reasonable prices and the servers are always very friendly.

I've dined in before and had a good experience. Ordered to-go today, and this was in my edamame. Still can't identify what it is.

So I wanted to update my last review since I'm here today. It's Seafood Croquette. It's so GOOD!!

Very delicious sushi and other foods, the price is nice, there are many deals like happy hour, and if you're lucky 50% off everything. Everyone that I heard of who has been here said they enjoyed it very much. It's not busy and the waiters are very kind and welcoming. The whole restaurant has a nice theme to it that is very welcoming. Lots of options on the menu that aren't expensive.

We ordered the family combo to share between three people which includes your choice of two small plates (appetizers), four rolls, and two meat entrees. This was more than enough food for us to have leftovers to take home. My favorite roll was the Garlic Tuna featuring seared tuna and fried garlic crisps on top. The spicy chicken bulgogi came out sizzling on a hot cast iron plate and was flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. Considering how much you would spend if every person bought individual rolls and meals, this was a great deal.

We were not greeted by an employee at the hostess stand and finally sat ourselves. It took 15 minutes for a server to greet us and ask for our drink order. Once he arrived for our drink order we put in a small food order to test out the quality of proteins. It took 40 minutes to get two hand rolls and one albacore sashimi order. The order took so long to arrive that once it did, we quickly put in a specialty roll order before trying the hand rolls. The specialty roll came out in two minutes flat, I did see a roll sitting on the sushi bar before we ordered. I believe we got someone else's roll because I asked about the long wait times. After the roll was delivered a server came over to our booth specifically to make a snarky comment, he said "you're lucky this was fast, people wait 1 hour for this on Fridays." The restaurant was clean, had a neat wall painting and the parking was free, those are the only positive experiences from our visit. The sashimi was dry as if it had been sitting out not properly stored. Hand rolls were mostly rice, the only protein is what you can see in the pic - gone in one bite of a 4 bite roll. The specialty roll was average. This was a very unpleasant experience, we will not go back and will not recommend to friends/family/yelpers. It should also be noted that we went on a Sunday afternoon and there were 3 sushi chefs behind the counter, 3 servers on the floor and 1 host. Hard to understand why the wait times were excessive and service was poor. Our server did acknowledge that the service was slow, however, he did not offer any apology, he just shrugged it off.

My wife wanted to celebrate her birthday with tonkatsu to the level of our Tokyo dining experience. Our overall dining experience was exceptional. We had not been able to make reservations so we attempted to walk in upon opening. We arrived before opening and were surprised to see a line of about 5 parties ahead of us. By the time the doors opened there was another 5 parties in line behind us. Nevertheless, we were able to get a large table on their patio. We received service promptly. Everything we ordered was phenomenal. The baby octopus kaarage and chicken kaarage were on point down to the dipping sauce, Japanese mayo and lemon wedges. The fillet katsu was cooked to perfection and the shredded cabbage was dressed with gingery flavor. This meal just hit every aspect that tonkatsu in Japan has to offer. I was very impressed with the quality, presentation and foremost the taste of all the food. Oishi des!

I ordered the Deluxe Combo (+rice and miso) which included 3 large scallops, 1 shrimp, and 1 pork cutlet. The quality is sooo good, it was worth paying $34. I usually really don't like tonkatsu because people make it in a way that the breading/fried part is also soggy and separated from the meat by the time it's served to you. Or it's just a thin layer of breading it might as well not be there! But EE NAMI chefs do it so well, the large, flaky breading actually complements the meat inside. Also ordered the octopus wasabi appetizer. My palette preference is there would be even more of that wasabi kick to it. Still good tho! We came with a party of 7 as a walk-in on a Thursday evening. We had to all be present in order to be seated. The only con is the size of the restaurant/availability of seating, which can't really be helped.. but we just had to wait an hour outside before a table opened up. I was impressed though that they fixed us one table so we didn't have to separate from our party! We had originally looked into reserving a table a few days prior, but the time slot we wanted was already fully booked. So reserve at least a week ahead for popular dinner times! Plenty of parking. 2 bathrooms in the back. Indoor and outdoor seating.

A quick tip on the menu design, though: it's a bright pink layout with items grouped together by price going across. The way the items are framed inside a bubble makes it look like a sampler where you get everything listed for that price. It's just a design choice, but I'd definitely recommend updating it to avoid confusion! As for the food, I assumed the Brussels sprouts would be halved, crispy, and tossed in sauce. Instead, they were served whole, boiled or steamed, and then gently stir-fried in a lot of sauce. They turned out pretty mushy, which isn't how I usually prefer them. I love Brussels sprouts, but I definitely prefer the crispy version, so I wouldn't order these again. On the bright side, we absolutely enjoyed our sushi rolls! Each roll came with 10-12 pieces, which is fantastic value. I've been hunting for a new go-to sushi spot, so this was a great find. The service was also really good. Our server refilled our waters frequently and checked in often to see if we needed anything else. My only other critique is the entrance. It feels a bit uninviting and actually looks closed when you walk up. We stood outside looking a little silly before realizing you just can't see inside because the windows are completely blacked out. It's also a bit dark on the inside, and there were a few annoying gnats flying around. Overall, great sushi and service, and with a few minor adjustments, this place could be even better!
