I came in here to try it because it's walking distance for me from where I live. When I initially got in, it was almost empty, and the lady seated me. She was not dressed appropriately as a server. She was wearing pajama type shorts and a dirty T-shirt and slippers. a crowd of people came in after me (about 5 different tables), and she seated them as well. She started to take all of their orders and never came back to me. When she finally got back to me, I realized I forgot my medication and asked her if I could take it to go instead. She gave me a very rude stare, like "wtf." Then she told me to leave my table and go wait by the door. I was extremely dizzy at this point and needed food/salt. There were about 8 open tables and the bar almost empty, so this wasn't about leaving seats for dine in customers. But I went to go sit by the door...and then decided to actually go back and let her know to cancel my order because I feel like the service was so poor, and they had the DoorDash drivers waiting for a solid 15-20 minutes before they even acknowledge them. It was just this one single person serving and helping people, this rude lady. So I decided to just take my money elsewhere, before I pass out. They also have a sign in their door, talking about how the quality of their food is not reflected in the low prices. I don't think it's the prices that are keeping people away read more

My grandson wanted to eat here for his early graduation! We come here once in a while. We started with a couple of appetizers that were delicious. We had edamame and dumplings and miso soup. They were very tasty. Well all the food was great! What we enjoyed was the hot plates they use for the teriyaki chicken and the galbi short ribs! The sautéed onions were very tasty and sweet. We arrived at Yi sushi for dinner around 6pm, there was plenty of parking even though they had some of the parking blocked off for construction in the area. We were greeted right when we came in the door and asked to sit anywhere. When you sit down, they immediately bring over the menus as well as an ice cold pitcher of water to go along with the two glasses on the table. I ordered a raspberry iced tea and my husband ordered a sapporo beer. We ordered the sushi combo C and an appetizer of gyoza. All of the food arrived very quickly and it was very fresh. The gyoza was very hot and tasty. All of the rolls in the sushi combo were very delicious and not overpowered by sauce. We needed a new East County sushi spot to frequent, and Yi Sushi did not disappoint! Prices and quality are great for this economy. The flights are a great deal if you want to try 4 different rolls but for the price of 2 (or less)! Husband really loved his Sushi Flight C - the Guapo Roll was good and spicy. I enjoyed my Philadelphia roll (I like a good basic Philly, ok?!) - thin cut so that's why my photo has so many pieces. Only critique is that for both of us, a few of the pieces fell apart when we picked them up. Daughter had the Original Miso Ramen, which she liked but thought the broth was just a little too salty. It looked great with the soft boiled egg included and good amounts of pork belly. Service was very friendly! It was a quieter night, not too many customers, and the two servers came by often to make sure we were good. Love that they provide a small pitcher of water for every table - much more convenient for the customer imo! We arrived at 6:50pm, and they allowed us to order whatever Happy Hour items we wanted for the last ten mins of happy hour. (I believe 4-7pm everyday.) The nigiri was so good. Beautifully cut and portioned well over a small bit of rice (as it should be)! A very happy discovery. We will be back! read more

I would recommend this place. The food is great, the restaurant is clean, and the staff is very nice.

We came in here a few weeks back and we were seated quickly as no one else was in the restaurant. It was beyond FILTHY. The tables were sticky and there was trash and food scraps on the floor. The walls and paint were peeling and gross. I can't imagine how bad the back is if the front is this gross. We didn't order anything and got up and walked out because we were so GROSSED out. Clean up your place, it's not sanitary to have trash on the floors and rotting fixtures. read more

We ordered the family combo to share between three people which includes your choice of two small plates (appetizers), four rolls, and two meat entrees. This was more than enough food for us to have leftovers to take home. My favorite roll was the Garlic Tuna featuring seared tuna and fried garlic crisps on top. The spicy chicken bulgogi came out sizzling on a hot cast iron plate and was flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. We walked in and it immediately smelled like sewage. Found out it was coming from the restrooms but the whole restaurant smelled. Service was good, they didn't make an issue about us asking for the cucumber salad to be taken off the bill (it had a very strange after taste). We got sat and got our food quickly. We began to get grossed out from the smell and the fish tasted off. Did not finish our food. Floor was dirty, table and menus were sticky. I loved the sushi flight we got. We ordered flight D which had some crunch, cream cheese, jalapeño, and shrimp tempura in the mix of rolls. We ate the cucumber salad for our appetizer and it was refreshing. Highly recommend. The chicken karage came out hot. It had a lemon wedge and some spicy mayo sauce on the side which was delicious. I went here after I saw a comment saying it looks better than the pictures, loooks are deceiving since most all the sushi I ordered was bad. The only roles that were good were the shrimp tempura ones since there's not raw sushi. The salmon and avocado roll was old or the salmon was not sushi grade ! The salmon was mushy and tasted so bad and old. The avocado tasted like it was bought ahead of time. Spanish- this would've been good if the salmon was good . The salmon on top tasted slimy and old. The spicy tuna on the inside was very old and not consumable. I walk in excited for a chicken teriyaki plate. Absolutely no one at the counter. The sushi chef angrily staring at me, not saying a word. The lady next to him sounds bothered that Im there, she says "you have to wait for her" Another lady with glasses comes running out of nowhere to sloppily and carelessly take my order. I explain to her the sushi guy was angrily staring at me, she says "Im sure he wasn't" Like she dictates what I experience. No hospitality whatsoever. Horrible experience! The food is honestly super good here! My husband and I have been here multiple times and the quality is amazing every time and the service is pretty good as well. STRAIGHT DIARRHEA. First off, the service was great. The server and chef were super friendly. Second, the one star rating... It's for the food. Maybe it's just because I'm used to more higher end quality sushi... but this food gave me and my partner diarrhea as soon as we got home. It was bad. Real bad. In terms of the sushi flavor, over salted. Squid nigiri was a weird consistency. The rice was definitely not cooked correctly. Been having this place bookmarked for awhile now and haven't been able to try until recently since it's rare I head out anywhere east. We went a few nights ago during their 50% off promo where the entire bill was discounted. It was a perfect time to try the place out and make the drive. The servers were all really friendly. I found out they are in conjunction with Sushi Factory which has been my new fave AYCE sushi spot. Their menu items are relatively similar but Sushi Factory doesn't have doesn't have my favorite mackerel nigiri. All the items ordered were delicious. I liked almost everything I ordered which was sooo much foods except for their shrimp yaki udon. The flavor just wasn't there for that. Would definitely be back if I were in the area. read more

The vegetable tempura was filled with lots of different veggies like carrot and broccoli and was very satisfying. I had a few leftovers and ate them the next day, and they held up pretty well. Nice and quiet spot. We ordered the spicy salmon, California, and San Diego rolls. Can't speak to what I've seen said about the ramen, but the sushi was great. The San Diego and the spicy salmon were particularly good, mostly because of how good the fresh salmon tasted. It rivaled the taste of salmon we've had in Japan. The california roll was nothing too special, but that's kind of the expectation of a cali roll. Despite us arriving right at open, the staff greeted us with kindness and hospitality. Our waitress also made sure to ask if we needed anything extra to go with our leftovers, including soy/eel sauce, mayo, and chop sticks. Not sure if that's the standard here, but it did make us feel cared for. Oh my... the previous Yi Sushi is under new ownership. And it's incredible. When I saw it was open again, our family of six headed there for lunch. It was a "soft opening," and delightful. Our server, Ann, was so knowledgeable and helpful. My son is a sushi lover with plenty of years catching and eating sushi-grade seafood. He said it was some of the best he'd ever had. Fresh, and with some rare specialties like Toro (belly portion). We have a couple of sushi novices that preferred cooked, and they really enjoyed enjoy the rolls, teriyaki, and soba. Ann recommended Dynamite and Godzilla (sushi rolls), and next time we'll try the baked rolls. The chef loved talking sushi and sharing his expertise; we felt so welcome.
