When you pull into this restaurant on Burnet Road It's unlikely you'll find parking out front, but they do have a spacious lot behind the restaurant. Inside there's a dozen or so tables against the wall with a few chairs at the bar. They do have some outdoor seating with 7-8 tables facing the back parking lot. Their menu is quite appealing in its simplicity and understanding. Everything you need to know is on one page and easily spelled out. Their drinks consist of a handful of decent wines, Sakes ,and a few beers, but no craft beer or mixed/frozen drinks. We just settled on water. One unusual feature about this establishment is that if you use the bathroom, the sinks are located outside the bathroom where you wash your hands so that Everybody knows it. Also when it gets busy, it can get a little bit loud inside. The portions that they give you are pretty much the perfect size where you won't be boxing up the extra to go. One thing to keep in mind is that this is an Americanized version of Chinese food which many people like, but not everyone. We started with the hot and sour soup and fried egg rolls. I suggest you be careful with that wasabi mustard because it's hot, the soup, not so much, but it was very good. The egg rolls were OK, but I've definitely had better. I ordered the Mongolian beef which was a little better than I expected. They do give you silverware, but if you want to use chopsticks, you'll have to ask for them. Service is very prompt and attentive, almost to a fault. We had just barely put our forks down when we were presented with the bill. If you're looking for a sweet treat to finish the meal off, unfortunately, you'll have to settle for a fortune cookie. When it's time to settle up, they will hand you their handheld device and wait for you to punch in your tip. To get into the five star league, it would be nice to see a couple of desserts, a slightly larger portion and an expanded bar with more drink choices. For 20+ years my wife and I ate at least twice a week at Suzi's on Shoal Creek, most often with another three couples (4 of us each time) until she retired, leaving us heart-broken. In 50 years in Austin, we ate ate lots of great places. NONE provided friendlier very personalized service serving absolutely delicious food. 5* service. After many years in retirement, late last year I found she had reopened on South Burnet Rd and they remembered me and my friends. Suzi is a tremendously fantastic restaurateur. ALL her outstanding servers came​ back. Nothing about her quality of food and service has changed and I try to dine there 3x per week. We had a great experience at Suzi's Chinese with our toddler! I want to specifically recommend them as highly kid-friendly. Right when we sat down they brought soup, ice to cool it down, and rice which my son loved. Every parent knows that getting food to your toddler promptly is important! I had high hopes for this place but nothing really stood out to me. I ordered Sesame Chicken lunch special which came with my choice of soup. I chose the egg drop soup which unfortunately lacked flavor and dimension. I wanted to love the chicken and the crab rangoons but nothing special here. I am so incredibly grateful that Suzi has chosen to bless the Austin restaurant community once again. I grew up going to all 3 of Suzi's locations (it was a family favorite "birthday dinner" spot, so it saw heavy rotation for special occasions especially) and I was devastated when the last one closed in 2018. Suzi herself is the driving force behind the success of her restaurants: she's a whirlwind and a powerhouse who knows everyone and everything and even if she doesn't, she'll give you a hug and act like she's known you her whole life. She creates a special atmosphere in her space that feels like coming home every time you visit. I'm so happy to see the place packed once again. We went opening weekend and the line was out the door. Luckily we had snagged reservations in advance (and don't worry, there's a massive parking lot behind the building) so we were able to skip the line. Even in the chaos of the re-opened space, you could feel the joy reverberating off the walls. Suzi was in her element and the staff seemed so happy to be there. I'm pretty sure she managed to bring back some staff from her previous concepts. The food was incredible - it's exactly what you want each of the dishes to be when you imagine them. Like when I go to order sesame chicken, this is what I want it to be. Glossy, crispy, sweet, no questionable cuts of meat - perfection. As you can tell, I love Suzi's and obviously many others do too. My favorite Chinese place has come back! Got to see Ms. Suzie herself on this visit. She's the sweetest person and so welcoming. The food is always perfect, we started off with pork egg rolls, crab rangoons and fried wings. For our entrees we ordered the sesame chicken and sesame shrimp. Everything was finger licking good! Right now, Suzi's Chinese is at three stars. But they are on soft opening ... and they are absolutely being overwhelmed. Suzi's has long been one of the most popular American Chinese restaurants in North Central Austin. They used to be located where the District Bar is now - up at Anderson and Shoal Creek. IMHO, they were a pleasant enough utilitarian neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They were no better and no worse than about eighteen other places in Metropolitan Austin named "China [fill in the blank]". Places named China This or China That tend to be basically okay. Like the others, Suzi's Chinese was basically okay. When Suzi's set-up on Burnet Road is finally stabilized, they will be basically okay again. But now they got problems. Their problem is that they are working in a smaller space - with probably a smaller kitchen - than they used to have on Shoal Creek. However, they are absolutely being swamped with customers. All of their loyal fans from Northwest Austin are coming down to Burnet Road. Plus, the Rosedale, Brentwood, Allandale and Bryker Woods residents - all of whom are legitimately starved for a good neighborhood Chinese place - are all showing up as well. The lines go out the door and all over the sidewalk. The restaurant is majorly majorly understaffed. As a result: a) The menu is limited. b) The quality of what you get is indifferent. Not bad but not great either. c) You are way better off getting your food to go as parking is limited. Fortunately, they have two dedicated parking spaces for to-go. Which is just as well because most of the population of North Central Austin is parked in the other spaces. d) You are better off getting your food at 3 pm and waiting for dinner than you are trying to get what you want at 6. ****** This will all change over time. But I personally am more inclined to drive a little farther either for Chinese Chinese or American Chinese. I still do China Palace, China Family or Asia Cafe for Chinese Chinese. For American Chinese, P. F. Chang's if we are getting fancy, And the surprisingly good China Fun on East Rundberg east of I-35 if you don't mind getting your food in lower class neighborhoods. And lets not forget Din Ho, House of Three Gorges and Chinatown North. You can routinely get five star meals at any of those locations. Suzi's never was able to compete at that level read more

It was my first time trying chicken wraps, and it tasted good! I also got their seafood and roasted almond fried rice. The flavoring is more on the sweet side and really unique. So to be fair, we were regular customers of Suzi's years back before they closed all locations so we were excited to see them re-open after a multi year absence. I *loved* the old Suzi's. Food was quick, priced very well and it was always delicious. The new Suzi's doesn't taste as good as I remember. I had the Three Delight (chicken/beef & minus shrimp since I'm allergic). The sauce was just ok, but didn't have the same taste that kept us coming back all those years ago. I remember a different texture and we didn't seem to have a choice in rice, we got brown, which I like in some dishes but it seemed more "dry" to me in this dish. There was an appropriate amount of protein and veggies, so that base covered. It seems that I had an issue only with the sauce. I was a little dismayed that for a lunch dish the $3 menu add on for the eggroll and soup brought the dish to $20 for lunch. That's a $40 lunch, excluding drinks, for 2 folks and more than my wallet is comfortable with for lunch. I feel like the entrée price should include soup and an eggroll (which was good). Maybe they're still breaking in the cooking staff since they're still considered 'new'. Dunno. I hope the next time I go back it's a different story. The stir-fry dishes are saucy and flavorful -- exactly what someone is looking for when they come to a place like this. The space is really nicely decorated. What a treat to have Suzi's back in Austin! For years we loved Suzi's restaurants, and I finally had an opportunity to visit the new restaurant this week. Suzi's still got it. The Chinese food is fresh and flavorful and even beautiful (brightly colored vegetable mixes complemented each dish we had). The service was excellent, and the owner, Suzi Yi, checked on us several times. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, and there are options for eating indoors or out. Don't let the minimal parking in front discourage you. There is ample parking behind the strip shopping center. Suzi's Chinese is definitely worth a visit. You won't regret it. We had rainbow shrimp and broccoli in garlic sauce for lunch. Both were exceptional and included fresh broccoli, multicolored pepper strips, and bamboo. I've been here a few times for dinner and it's usually been good, but lunch today was a different story. My friend said his orange beef was fine, but my orange chicken was not. Right away it had a musty, almost wet-dog smell that made me hesitate. After a few bites, it was clear the chicken wasn't fresh--maybe even leftover and just tossed in sauce. The fried rice was okay, but the hot and sour soup, while passable, had an odd fermented aftertaste that's not typical of their usual flavor. As a fan of the original Suzi's Kitchen, it's heartening to see Suzi's food returning to Austin. Usually when a piece of old Austin dies, it never comes back. Our visit was a mixed bag, which can be easily explained by opening jitters and a popularity that I can't ever recall from the original spot. First off, there is ample parking out back, which was a real concern for a restaurant neighboring with Pinthouse. Check-in was a little chaotic during Saturday rush, but the host did a great job managing the process. We chose to kill time next door with a couple of Pinthouse brews, and the wait was right on the 40 minute estimate. Service was effusively friendly, and the dining room is sleek and beautiful. The menu was immediately familiar and really true to the original restaurant. Unfortunately, we ran into a big service error where our main courses were forgotten, and we waited for close to an hour with nothing on the table. The staff was apologetic, and they scrambled to address the situation. The food was delicious, particularly the garlic beef and the basil shrimp. This would have been a 5 star experience but for the significant service issue that impacted our evening. i am already planning to return, maybe during a slower time when the dust has settled a bit on the opening. This has got to be some of the best "american" chinese food anywhere in Austin, and Suzi's is well worth a visit. read more

Beware of eating here if you have allergies! Suzi was not accommodating on releasing what was in food I had after multiple phone calls and emails. After the first call with Suzi, she indicated she would check with her chef and send the list of ingredients to me that day. Nothing came. Further attempts to get the information via emails were left unanswered, calling and talking to staff showed me that no one seems to know the extent beyond basic ingredients. Whatever it was caused an allergic reaction to my airway. This was my fourth visit to Suzi's with my family and was so excited to see the restaurant revived in this new space. I made the mistake of ordering a different dish than what I usually get and what caused the allergic reaction had to be buried in the sauce or a cross-contamination going on in the kitchen. After this incident happened, I cannot support a business that doesn't care about their customers health or risk another incident. It was a simple request to tell me what was in the food I had at Suzi's that day. Considering there are many food and sauce items people could be allergic to in this type of restaurant (mussels, shrimp, nuts, seeds, etc.) she should consider displaying a nutritional list of ingredients for each item on her website and in the restaurant to help prevent this from happening. They also need to be cautious of cross contamination when using cooking equipment. I hope this review helps others. read more

OMG! Suzi's is back and better than ever! What a great new space with nice design features. The service was and has always been perfect. They didn't have TABC alcohol license when we went but offered wine for no cost. The food was so delicious and the portions were huge. The four of us ate enough and still had left overs!
