My girlfriend and I drove over 700 miles (round-trip from western Massachusetts), to enjoy Letchworth State Park. After enjoying the beautiful park, we chose Sweet Basil Cafe, for dinner. We couldn't have chosen any better! The food - across the menu - was absolutely delicious and it was served hot, fresh, graciously and quickly. We cannot recommend a finer dining spot than Sweet Basil Cafe. Try it, and see for yourselves! One of the highlights of our end of the summer road trip. Definitely the best eatery of this trip. This is a must when you are in the area. Great place for a large group since the portions are very generous. Best enjoyed in family style IMHO. Trust me, you will want to since there's a great chance you will want to try what others are having anyways. Everything was so delicious and you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish. This is the only place that I actually enjoyed eating my least favorite vegetable the cucumber. They knocked every single dish out of the park. This place is a hidden gem. Jay is a wizard in the kitchen. Never had a bad meal. We continue to come back and enjoy it every time. Pho broth is out of this world, banh mi is incredible (home made bread and pate), love the fried rice and Korean pancakes to name a few favorites. read more

Our family was in town unexpectedly and are very pleased with our decision! Three of us had the Pho (2 tofu and one beef). The tofu pho was excellent. And our daughter liked the lo mein. Fresh ingredients and large servings. One order of Pho could have fed two of us. Highly recommend! read more

From the moment one walks in the door, you are greeted with an incredible aroma! This newly opened cafe is nicely decorated, spacious and very clean. So many good things on the menu, it was hard to choose. The cucumber salad was tangy and delicious. My friends and I shared the spring rolls which were very fresh and tasty. It was difficult to choose an entree but we settled on Japanese pancake which was outstanding and a very generous portion. Another friend had the Pho and said it was the best she had ever eaten , and said the same thing when she had it for lunch the next day. The flavors were amazing and all meals very fresh. Obviously, things were made in the kitchen by a talented chef. I traveled from Buffalo, Ny and would definitely return. Take out is available! read more

I took my mom here after a little b-day shopping and we were really impressed. They had just opened that week and the food, tea and coffee were on point delicious. I live in NYC so I try to not get too disappointed when I go out to eat in other places (read: food snob but for good reason). Sweet Basil has casual cute decor, great service and stellar food with great variety. They even asked for actual feedback and they fixed a small problem... with a smile and appreciation. Decided to give this place a try but a little disappointed. Lets start with the appetizers fresh spring rolls were great but chicken marinade was chewy and no knife served with the silverware or the appetizer to cut it into pieces, Cannot eat a whole chicken breast. The marinade had a very different taste and it was salty, I tasted more fish sauce than anything else . The soy ginger sauce that comes with the chicken marinade and option as a sauce for fresh spring rolls should just remain soy sauce because ginger mixed with it had a horrible taste. They were out of shrimp spring rolls. The ginger sauce with fresh spring rolls was Good. Entrees- chicken lomein had the same chicken marinade that is offered as the appetizer and the sauce had lemon flavor to it. Rice bowl with protein and vegetables also has the same chicken that was offered as chicken marinade. The rice bowl with protein and vegetables is a good option for kids except for the vegetables because the entree is bland no taste except the chicken that is marinated in a fish sauce marinade. Pad Thai noodles are usually wider but the noodles served felt like they were angel hair and the sauce was sweet. I would not order this at this restaurant and on the menu it says it comes from japan which is inaccurate it comes from Thailand. Beef pho was the only entree We appreciated. Service was okay but it is expected due to staff shortage every where. Restaurant is clean and decor is nice. I will not return because the menu and the food just tastes different. The menu needs to be revamped. If sea restaurant closed then I would dine in for Pho. read more

"Sorry we're out of our entire menu" went in for something quick and yummy, but they were out of their pork belly buns, crab Rangoon, fried spring rolls, bahn mi, and pretty much anything else I wanted. Also--their pad Thai was made out of the same noodles they put in the fresh spring rolls...we tried both of those and the veggie Korean pancake. The flavors were good, but I'm not sure why the management doesn't have the ingredients they need to make the dishes on their menu. Also the vibe is off in there. Looks barren. read more

We've ordered twice and it's been delicious. It's great see to see an old town building filled with something new and different. The ramen bowl (miso with tofu) and fresh spring rolls are great. We were excited to see an Asian restaurant open in Victor. The food did not disappoint! My husband's pho was delicious, as was my banh mi. The food was very fresh, made from scratch, and full of flavor. They seem to have a few service kinks to work out but they've only been open a week and everyone was extremely friendly and solicitous. We really look forward to trying more menu items because what we had was so good. This place has the best pho in the Rochester Area straight up. Which they better bc their prices demand it. Usually beef pho is pretty bare bones with some thinly sliced rare bottom round and some meat balls. Here you get the everything including the above, with some brisket, some tripe and maybe other stuff that I'm forgetting. And the broth is amazing. A lot of places use premade or stock concentrate, but this is as homemade, done low and slow as it gets. There's literal gobs of bone marrow floating around, its fantastic. This place is worth every penny, defiantly order something with a soup or broth bc that is where the love is. read more

We stopped in for our first visit after hearing good reviews and really enjoyed our food. We ordered rice with steak and the meat was good quality and tender. We also ordered the seafood Jambong, the broth was flavorful with a little kick to it and we had plenty left for leftovers. The server was attentive and friendly. Ordered takeout and when I got home discovered they gave me the wrong meal!! When I called to tell them I was disappolnted they said it was just a mistake, never offering to replace or refund my money. Having grown up in a family that owned restaurants I know this is bad for business. And the meal they gave me was small and tasteless and the meat was extremely tough. i found Sweet Basil by a simple "healthy restaurants in Victor, NY" Google search and boy was I in for a treat! I was excited to find an Asian resturant that made their own, authentic Pho in western NY, but I had questions. I sent an email requesting information about the nutrition values and quickly found myself corresponding directly with Chef Jay. He was very helpful, informative and responsive. By the time I'd read his email giving me the details of what goes into his beef Pho I was salivating and it was three days away from when we'd be eating there!! I met a friend at 630 on Friday night. We were seated immediately and the tea was poured. Clarissa was quick to get us whatever we requested and when we got our food, our tastebuds frolicked with delight!! It was cold outside but it was springtime in our mouths!! The ingredients we're both fresh and flavorful! Chef Jay's descriptions were outdone by what was delivered.
