Came here on a Sunday with my boyfriend near the end of lunchtime and they told me it would be a 45 minutes wait. They added me on the list and said they would text me when my table was ready. Turns out the wait was only about 25-30 minutes and I haven't even digested the tacos I ate at a nearby truck cause we were so hungry we just needed some food in the system. I've been wanting to try Sweet Chick for awhile at whichever location, but we happened to be in Brooklyn for the day so here we were! Also, I've been craving some good shrimp and grits since I was at New Orleans 2 years ago. When we got the text, we had to run back to the restaurant because they would only hold it for 5 minutes. We got a nice window seat and we ordered one order of Chicken and Waffles and one order of Shrimp and Grits. Much to my surprise, the Shrimp and Grits was not to my liking because it was tomato based and the one I had before was a Cajun gravy based. However, the tomato on shrimp was delicious and so was the pouched egg. Even more unexpected, I really liked the chicken and waffles! It was probably the best I've ever tried. The waffles are sliced topped on each other and they were really fluffy. There are two pieces of fried chicken that were perfectly cooked and juicy. Most importantly, the fish came with 3 different flavors of butter: honey which tasted more like very refreshing lemon, raspberry or strawberry which was interesting and not bad at all, and basil and lemongrass (I believe) very herby and the best flavor of all. Will definitely come back for more chicken and waffles!!! read more

WHAT WAS ORDERED: Chicken and Waffles | $17 SERVICE: it was ok.... the server seemed very annoyed by us. When we would ask her anything she rolled her eyes. CLEANLINESS: pretty, small, cute, clean place. TASTE: It was good! I don't think it was anything special. WORTH THE PRICE?: no. I got two pieces of chicken and 1 waffle cut in four pieces. RECOMMENDATIONS: IF you come here get the chicken and waffles. That's what they are known for. WILL I COME BACK?: NO. I really don't know what the hype is about. It was OK. The wait was incredibly long, so don't go hungry. The food itself: We got the fried chicken and waffles, of course. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. I have a rule for myself: if I can make it better, then place is not worth a repeat visit. This is such a place. read more

This was our last stop before going back home. This was the BEST breakfast my family had in our entire New York trip! The service was amazing, and the food was bomb!!! We ate at boggy places in Time Square that food was not worth the price. This place definitely has cooks who cook with their hearts. read more

I found this place from a friends referral. We went to the one downtown Brooklyn near the Barclays Center. The service was great the food was amazing and it was just a vibe on a Saturday night . We all had a great time . I think this place is better than shake shack . If you have time check them out and enjoy your Saturday night out . read more

Sweet chick was perfect. My girlfriend wanted breakfast type food and I was already ready for something a little heavier. So sweet chick weekday brunch was it. My girlfriend had the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. The biscuit was house made and the egg looked perfectly cooked nice and runny so that yolk oozes into the biscuit bacon and aged cheese. I had the classic sweet chick chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy skinned, golden brown,flavorful, and juicy. The waffles was perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.with a nice sweet syrup. To top those waffles were three house made butters. The first butter was a savory herb butter. The second a lemon infused butter, and the third a bright pinkish purple berry infused butter. The lemon and berry ones were my favorite to add some sweetness and a tart bite to the waffle along with the classic syrup. Sweet chick is a great little spot to have a nice delicious meal. read more

If you haven't had chicken and waffles from Sweet Chick, you haven't lived. Most places focus on the quality of their waffle, Sweet Chick nails quality of meat as well. Their antibiotic free-range chicken is juicy and covered in a crunchy batter. All 3 butters they give are mouthwatering. You can't go wrong here, you really can't! read more

This spot takes "quaint" and "charming" to new levels. But you know what they say, great things come in small packages! I was here last week with a few friends around 8pmish after hearing a recommendation. We each grabbed the chicken and waffles with different variations. They are GOOD! The assorted butter spreads and syrup are just a bonus. Now they too are doing the trendy water things of serving it in what looks like a recycled glass and using mason jars as cups. That's fine and dandy until there's no ice and we're sweltering from the lack of A/C inside. It wasn't all bad though, it eventually kicked in and we had goosebumps. I wish I was in NY more often so I could go back! read more

Came here with 3 ppl on a Saturday at 11:30a and got seated at 12:15p. Was really surprised to see the place packed this early. You put your name down on an iPad and get a text when your table is ready. Our server today was really sweet and patient! We ordered the breakfast burrito ($12), chicken and waffles ($17), and shrimp and grits ($17). And coffee ($3), of course. The mugs were huge. The breakfast burrito was a bit too bland, but it comes with a heaping amount of potatoes. The burrito itself has bits of chorizo, fried chicken (very little), mashed potato, and scrambled eggs. Would highly recommend hot sauce. My friends ordered the chicken and waffles and those were delicious! It came with 3 diff types of butter. The shrimp and grits seemed a bit watery and prob wouldn't order again. 4/5 just because the food was service was good and the food was okay, though I expected more flavor :/ read more

While in New York, my girlfriend and I had to make a stop at the restaurant people would not stop talking about, Sweet Chick in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Atmosphere & Service: 4.8/5.0 We arrived around 11:30am on a Friday and it was fairly packed, fortunately we we're able to find seats immediately at the bar as well as be attended too by an awesome bartender who also acted as our server. Within 30 minutes Sweet Chick was packed and people we're shoulder to shoulder laughing and chowing down. The overall atmosphere was very afrocentric, homey along with a phenomenal selection of neo-soul hits playing in the background, it was a vibe. Food: 4.5/5.0 I ordered the "Chicken and Waffles - $18" and my girlfriend ordered the " Mac and Cheese - $10". Along with drinks plus tip our ticket total was $34.40 and wait for our food was about 20-25 minutes (it was packed). My chicken and waffles we're good, the chicken was fresh, flavorful, and crispy, the waffles we're steaming and had a hint of sweetness. To add to all of this the butters (and YES I said butters meaning of 3 different flavors) we're phenomenal. I don't want to divulge too much, but I insist that the moment your order comes out, JUST ASK for them. You won't regret it. The mac and cheese was solid, my girlfriend rated it as creamy, the crust being just smokey enough to melt in your mouth along with the flavors being well balanced. A notable gripe though, the portion sizes for the mac & cheese was a tad bit small, nevertheless good. Final Thoughts: 4.65/5.0 As a Dallas local, if your looking for a good place in Brooklyn with good vibes and damn good food, head over to Sweet Chick, they won't disappoint. Based off of the two items we ordered, we we're left feeling satisfied and quite happy. Also Note - If your from the south you may find the price kind of high, but it's New York and this is considered a standard. So don't let that put you off of some good food. read more

Not the best chicken and waffle that I have ever had, but it was really good. However, I must say that the chicken was almost perfect. I really wanted more of the chicken. I had the cheddar and bacon and the apple cinnamon waffles. Overall could not taste the cheddar in the waffle and the pieces of bacon in the bacon batter was a little soggy. The Apple cinnamon waffles on the other hand was so much better. read more

Pretty solid spot for southern/comfort food. The place is actually smaller than expected but atmosphere/decor was cute and suiting for this type of restaurant. Start with the mac and cheese because it is outstanding!! We got 2 orders to share among 3 people and CLEANED both. The fried chicken sliders were delicious as well. It comes with a spicy honey that was so unexpectedly tasty. Gave the chicken a nice kick. I don't eat fried chicken often because I usually get a stomach ache...glad to report that was NOT the case here!!! AND the dessert special, an espresso mocha doughnut with honey ice cream was the perfect end to dinner. Clearly, this was the ultimate cheat meal but honestly, so worth it. Also, service was outstanding. We sat at the bar to avoid waiting longer (wait was over an hour for 3 on a Saturday night) and our bartender was great. He was so kind and attentive. My sister and I decided to come here for brunch on a Wednesday around 1PM. The wait was only 15-20 minutes, which isn't bad at all. The hostess was very nice! We wanted to switch to an individual table and she kindly accepted our offer. We were seated quickly and a waitress took our order right away. It was such a small but cute rustic spot to have brunch. The food came really fast too! We ordered the Sweet Chick Waffle, Fried Chicken and Waffles, Mac and Cheese and a side of homemade fries. The Sweet Chick Waffle was covered in fruits and Ricotta. I'm not a big fan of Ricotta but the fresh fruits and the waffle was very good. The waffle was very light, soft and crunchy. It's probably one of the best waffles that I had, other waffles I have tend to be very eggy, soft with a spongy texture. The Fried Chicken and Waffles is a must try! We had the classic waffle so it was the same as the Sweet Chick Waffle. I like how it came with three flavored butters, which were really light and fluffy. I mostly used the strawberry flavored one. The fried chicken was very crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. I wasn't expecting the fried chicken to be this good! The Mac and Cheese was too creamy for our liking but once you continue to eat it, you won't stop! Flavor was rich and the shells were cooked just right. I didn't think that my sister and I will finish it but we end up eating most of it. The home fries were okay, it was in large pieces. There was a strong rosemary flavor. Honestly, this was a lot of food for two people. We were full half way but continued to stuff ourselves. The staff were really nice. My sister and I had a very good experience here. read more

The customer service here is on point. During the heat wave, I had a friend get light headed and pass out before seating and the manager and staff were so eager to assist with water, orange juice, and a cold compress. Additionally, the food was amazing! The chicken and waffles were a perfect savory/sweet combo and supplementing it with a side of Mac and cheese was the best decision we could have made. You will definitely be full when you walk out the door. Only small downside was the the mimosas and other boozy breakfast drinks are a little small for the price, but nothing too outrageous. read more

5 stars for having a vegetarian chicken option, their delicious butters and syrups, and for the huge portions (this lasted me 2.5 meals!) 4 stars because the chicken itself was okay- a little try and hard compared to other veggie/vegan chicken options i've had. however, any place that caters to both vegans/vegetarians and meat eaters is a plus in my book! definitely worth trying, particularly since vegetarian chicken and waffles can be harder to find! read more

Despite the generally high quality of the restaurants in Williamsburg, Sweet Chick is a disappointment. I don't remember how the restaurant was set up pre-pandemic, but this place is basically a fast food restaurant masquerading as a sit-down restaurant at this point. I ordered chicken and waffles, which seems to be their specialty. The food was tasty, but the chicken was clearly not fresh; it was barely warm when it made it to me, and you could tell it had been sitting for some time and was not cooked to order: The waffle, however, was fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, that's there the positives end. This place is virtually contactless at this point; you view the menu, order and pay through the QR code on the table, so your only interaction with the staff, who basically all just hang out behind the bar, is when you receive your food. Everything you touch is disposable; the food comes out on those boat-shaped paper trays, and the syrup, cutlery, hot sauce, butter and cups are all single-serve and disposable. Because of the lack of a plate, you're kind of forced to eat the whole meal with your hands. Since I paid before getting the food, I tipped the customary 18% tip for a sit down restaurant, but since I see that everything I interact with is disposable and there really no true table service, I wouldn't have tipped as much if I had known. The ambiance also suffers because they're blasting music at 80+ decibels (measured with my phone), which makes conversation difficult anywhere in the dining room, and almost impossible if you're directly under the speakers. Clearly this place has designed its entire business around take out and delivery, and unfortunately the sit-down dining experience is hampered by this focus. Not worth sit-down prices to eat classy, yet tasty, fast food. read more

This place is a very small family oriented and well-located place. Its very Williamsburg! The overall service was great and the waiters were very attentive. The food was pretty good. I ordered the steak and eggs which was cooked well. However, the flavor was not as good as the chicken and waffles. They give you three types of butter one that tastes like berries, one like chives and the other regular. The syrup is amazing and one of the best syrups I have ever had. I also ordered a biscuit and gravy with chicken sausage. This was another one of my favorites. The pricing was fair for the amount of food. read more

In an age where information is a finger tap away: very convenient and resourceful. On rare occasions, it's great to stumble blindly upon a wonderful, individual discovery purely by chance. Saturday was that exact experience. Meet up with a few ladies to attend a birthday dinner. Ended up wondering and happened on this spot on a whim. About a 10-15 minute wait to seat five ladies, indicated this restaurants popularity. Once seated (on 3-4 foot benches) that I must add, are very unforgiving to hippy ladies clustered close, we descended on our given menus with enthusiasm. The atmosphere of Sweet Cheek reminded me of Brucie on Cobble Hill Brooklyn (God rest Brucie's restaurant spirit) taken away too soon *tears*. I don't know if Saturday night music is common at Sweet Cheek, but their playlist was in rare form. Trap music on rotation the entire time I was there. My group ordered a round of "Queen of Brooklyn", I ordered their red velvet with white chocolate, vanilla ice cream and raspberries for dessert, HEAVEN. Other ladies ordered chicken and waffles, chicken and mash potatoes etc. All super delicious, especially the Chicken! In between mouthfuls of my dessert and stealing bits of food from other people's plates, I didn't know whether to dab or two step. Great food and music, I've already planned a return with my husband this week for a date night! read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday it was extremely crowded. The place is tiny so be prepared to wait a while for a table. If you have an iPhone you can download the "nowait" app to check your place in line. They'll also send you a text when your table is ready. I ordered the infamous chicken and waffles with a side of macaroni and cheese. The food was delicious, although the chicken had some weird tangy taste to it. OMG! Best brunch spot. Went two weekends in a row. The waffle with fresh fruit and ricotta is amazing. The maple bacon is also a must have. Couldn't partake in any brunch cocktails due to being pregnant but the peach lemonade was delicious! While there is usually a bit of a wait because it's a small spot, the host takes your number and texts when your table is ready. This allows you to take a stroll in the neighborhood =) read more

I went Saturday fir brunch the wait for 2 was about 45 min . phone number is taken and they shoot you a text when your table is ready ( which is super convenient) i got to sit in my car . Once seated the service was sharp quick and to the point I had chicken and waffles it was really good the chicken was crispy and well seasoned .My mimosa was great ! We had to wait maybe 45 minutes, but it was well worth it!! I had the chicken and waffles and shared the eggs benny with my friend. We also had mimosas which were like the icing on top of the brunch-cake. The waffles were super puffy and cooked to perfection. The butter they gave us was a good addition too, which was great because I usually don't put butter on my waffles. The chicken was easy to eat-- I somehow didn't even have to grab the chicken and got everything off using my fork and knife. The eggs benny though was my favorite hands down. You could tell they really spent time seasoning everything. The flavors were outrageously good and the potatoes were a good texture. Everything complimented each other very well. The waitress was nice and accommodating. We came with a group of 6 and she went to the back to grab the only chairs they had left.. I thought that was nice haha. ALSO. The playlist they played was bomb. Next time I'm in Brooklyn I'm taking whoever is with me to here. read more

This place is LEGENDARY. It's my favorite go-to dining spot. Obviously they don't need my help (they already have a gazzilion reviews) but I created yelp just to leave them my 5 star review. It can be really dicey to get a table without a wait (weekdays are your best bet) but it's always worth it. I've never been disappointed with anything I've eaten here. Obviously, the chicken and waffles are TO DIE FOR. Best in the city IMO. The biscuits and gravy is the real dark horse though. Not as obvious but SO GOOD and it's 50/50 when deciding which one I prefer. Anyway, love this spot and give it a try if you haven't already! read more

We met up with a bunch of friends from college here for brunch on a Sunday. The hostess was so friendly and engaging, and they were able to seat 7 of us relatively quickly which was impressive. Our waitress was efficient and everyone loved their food. 3 of us ordered the eggs Benedict and some of our biscuits were very burnt. Others ordered the ricotta pancakes and they were AMAZING! Definitely a solid brunch choice and I would love to try some cocktails some day. read more

My first impression of Sweet Chick is that this place is hyped up and trying so hard to live up to the authentic East Brooklyn vibes that it made me not want to come here. I was born in Brownsville so I typically tend to dislike any entities that try to push that aesthetic of "Brooklyn" but do not actually rep it properly. I came here with a friend (at her suggestion); I haven't seen in years so I obliged her. The place was packed but fortunately we were able to get a table in the corner by the wall lol. To my dismay the table was very small. We both ordered cocktails which were pretty good but I definitely didn't think it was worth more than $10. I'm not a big drinker and I never understood why people spend so much on alcohol when you can spend more on the food lol! We ordered an octopus app which was AMAZING! But between our water glasses, app plate, and cocktails we were running out of table space. Sweet Chick is known for its chicken and waffles so that's exactly what we both ordered. I must say they were really good. They came with maple syrup and 2 types of butter. The chicken was awesome! The portion size was great; I couldn't even finish all my food but I took it to go and devoured it once I got back home lol. The staff were pretty cool and helpful no problems there! I do remember sitting next to a family of 4 with their kids and I didn't understand why would you bring your kids to a place like this lol. That's what IHOP is for. Would I come back? Probably.....but maybe not on a weekend. read more

I have to rewrite my review because I dined here this evening and was so disappointed in the service and the staffs uniform. I understand that this is a comfort food place but the hostess was wearing sweats and our servers stomach was out. I was a bit confused by the dress code. It's also hard to determine who's our server when they're all dressed so casual. This is the same problem with the way they talk. It's like they were acting like we were friends. I just think at this location they took casual to the next level. Our food was cold and the lack of service really made this an unfortunate experience. Finally made it! Came for dinner on a weeknight with my friend and there was no wait. I had the fried chicken with rosemary and mushroom waffles and a biscuit, and she had the Nashville fried chicken. Everything was delicious! Definitely want to return to try the mac and cheese. I do think Buttermilk Channel is still my favorite fried chicken in the city, but this was awesome. read more

Nice happy hour and a large chocolate drink selection I was at this unique Guatemalan (ish) restaurant a while back with one of my groups. I said "ish" because the menu has dishes from all over, ranging from sandwiches to BBQ ribs to Guatemalan and Mexican soups. It's out there, and even though not everything works that well, it's fun, and if you can't find something you want to order here, you probably shouldn't go out to restaurants. There was also live jazz music that night, which was loud but nice to listen to. Since it was happy hour, a bunch of us got drinks. I went with a maracuya margarita, which was decent; someone else had a jalapeño margarita, someone had a beer, and someone had a mojito. There were a few nice hot sauces on the table, with the red one reminding me of salsa macha as it had a smoky kick and a spicier green sauce reminiscent of ají verde. They gave us some complimentary blue corn chips and a very mild black bean dip, which was tasty enough and hard to complain about, as it was free. From the appetizers, we got the Hot Figs for $15.95, consisting of honey goat cheese, corn tortilla chips, and plum + pumpkin seeds. This was a unique and fun blend and reminded me more of something you would find in a wine bar. The mix of sweet and salty, with a bit of crunch from the seeds, was nice. This was good, and I would recommend it for a table rather than for a solo diner. There was also The Zingy Salad for $21.95, featuring zucchini spirals, yuzu, tomato, onion, cilantro, pumpkin seeds, and a jalapeño infusion. $18.95. The salad was fine with a bit of crunch and a mild spiciness. It was fine, though a bit wet, for lack of a better word. The best dishes of the night were the soups, which each had its own distinct flavor profile. My sight presence went to the Pepián for $21.95, consisting of chicken, pumpkin/sesame seeds, green tomatillo, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, carrots, chili coban/pasta/guaque, and potato + rice. There was plenty of tender chicken inside, with the soup having a nice roasted flavor with some spice and a bit of sourness. The potatoes and rice on the bottom added more sustenance to this dish. Almost equally delicious was the Caldo Tlalpeño Rojo for a dollar more with shredded chicken, tomato, black pepper, garlic, onions, peas, chickpeas, corn, achiote, chipotle, Monterey jack cheese, and crunchy blue corn tortilla chips. By comparison, this was a bit heartier, with the melted cheese and shredded tortilla chips inside, similar to soups found in Mexican cuisine. While I also liked the mix of veggies a bit more in this one, as it added a bit more texture, I still slightly preferred the flavor of the other soup, as I usually prefer a bit more spice. The rest of the food was fine. The TPC sandwich for $19.95 with chicken, peanut butter, coconut cream, ginger, cilantro, pickled carrots, and lime was fine. For the number of ingredients, I found it a bit sweet, likely from the cream and the peanut butter mix. The bread was nice, but it also fell apart. It came with a nice side salad with a good vinaigrette. The most expensive at $24.95 were the Slow Cooked BBQ Ribs, consisting of baby back ribs with rice and beans. The ribs were almost a bit too tender as they lacked any bite, which was nice, but the sauce was a bit too generic tasting, reminding me of Sweet Baby Ray's or something similar. The rice and beans were standard. This was also OK. Next came some dessert. There was first the $12.95 Rosemary Churros served with dulce de leche & chocolate dips. While I'm not sure if it worked, the rosemary did add a unique smell and a bit of flavor, and at least it wasn't generic. The churros themselves were hot, and the sauces were standard, with my preference being the dulce de leche. I also ordered a Champurrado for $7.95, which was fine. It wasn't as thick as I expected, though perhaps the style is a bit different than the champurrados I rarely buy from Mexican street carts. The chocolate flavor was very nice, though, and I like that it wasn't too sweet. Another person got a $4 Alfajor, which I got a bite of, which was standard. This place is a bit hard to rate. The two soups were wonderful, I liked the appetizers, and I found a couple of the other dishes just OK. Overall, it was a good meal, but I'm not craving to go back. This would be the perfect 3.5, but I'll round up as that doesn't exist.

On October 20, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sweet Chick offered its classic chicken and waffle platter across its Williamsburg, LES, and LIC locations. The experience was true to the restaurant's name: the berry and honey butter were rich and flavorful, adding a delicious twist to the meal. The chicken tenders were soft, crispy, and coated in a light batter that absorbed just the right hint of sweetness--definitely a treat for fans of Southern comfort food. While I can't speak to their full menu, this sampler offered a promising taste of what Sweet Chick brings to the table. The waffles were fluffy and golden, and the chicken was thick and juicy--if these standards hold across the menu, Sweet Chick's quality is certainly worth the visit. I had a chance to step inside the Williamsburg location before hitting the sampling stand, and the restaurant had a lively, hip atmosphere. The space was packed, so a reservation might be a good idea; otherwise, be ready to grab your food to go. I'm giving Sweet Chick 1 stars for the fact that they are WAY over priced and the food wasn't worth half of that. I ordered there vegetarian fried chicken and a Kale salad (kale blt salad but w/o the bacon) it was literally 2 medium peices of fried tofu chicken and kale leaves with maybe 5 cherry tomatoes $25.00?!?!?! FOR TOFU AND LETTUCE?!?!? Also, It was no where near as good as when I had it last year, not sure if they are making it different but the fried "chicken" didn't taste like chicken AT ALL, and it upset my stomach. When I had it in the past I remember the "chicken " tasting like chicken, nice and fried with a crispy skin coating, this was like a blob of mushy tofu inside or it was probably seiten prepared incorrectly (seitan is a gluten protein that if done right resembles meat texture ) I've been a vegetarian for years , this order was highly disappointing. I'd never pay for that again. Figure out your recipe because it's terrible and my stomach was a mess for 2 days. It wasn't food poisoning for sure but I was sick/nauseous from that "chicken". While living in Brooklyn this was my local spot to hit up brunch with my homegirl. By far one of my favorite places to grub at and to enjoy one of a kind stiff cocktails. Cocktails range from spiked southern sweet tea, to high quality bourbon, to vodka lemonade concoctions that do not disappoint. It's traditional southern style cooking with amazing chicken and waffles, biscuits, grits, etc. I am a vegetarian and was so pleased that they have a veggie "Chickin" option that tastes just like real southern cooked fried chicken to pair with your bomb waffles. It gets pretty packed so expect to wait for a good seat, but the wait is definitely worth it. It's usually busy on Sunday mornings-afternoons. For large parties they have large picnic tables to sit at inside and for couples they have cute single tables throughout the restaurant. My review is based solely on the customer service, specifically the treatment of my party by the manager Blair. After a member of our party rested his head on his arms on the table, the manager suddenly and aggressively told us we had to leave. When members of our party objected, the manager made the disgusting and disrespectful comment "Go back to your country" to our British friend. To make matters worse, a member of our party was invited to go back with a different group and when the manager recognized her, he publicly refused to seat her and told her to "Go back to her country" (apparently not realizing that she's from Brooklyn)!! I have never experienced a manager with such poor customer service skills, and rarely in general have I encountered a person with such obvious contempt toward cultural and racial diversity. Due solely to the manager's disgusting ignorance and mistreatment, I will never support this restaurant unless new management is assigned and I highly encourage others to boycott as well. I recently had lunch at Sweet Chick in Manhattan and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in the city. The food was terrible: the waffles were hard and very dry, and the fried chicken lacked seasoning and flavor. Even the drinks were disappointing -- both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. The non-alcoholic drinks had rotten lemons in them, which was completely unacceptable. The service was just as bad. While we were seated immediately (the only positive of the visit), it took about 15 minutes before anyone even came over to take our order. When we finally did get served, the overall service was lackluster, and the staff openly said they were understaffed. That excuse didn't make the experience any better. Overall, the Manhattan location gets zero stars from me. Hopefully, the Brooklyn location does a better job, because this one was a complete letdown. read more

I recently visited Sweet Chick in Brooklyn while in town to catch up with friends, and it did not disappoint! We chose this spot for its convenience and reasonable pricing. When we arrived, the restaurant was pretty empty, so we were seated and attended to right away, which was a nice start. I ordered the classic OG chicken sandwich with fries and added their sweet chili sauce for a little extra kick. The fries were great, and I also tried the mac and cheese, which was really comforting. My friend's baby had the chicken tenders, and they absolutely devoured them--so you know they were good! The atmosphere was laid-back with a solid music selection that added to the vibe without being too loud. Overall, Sweet Chick is a great spot to enjoy quality food in a relaxed setting. After my previous experience in the Bedford location, I am sad to say that my experience was TRASH due to the lack of attention and THE REALLY NASTY disrespectful ratchet attitude from ms LYNA; not only was her attitude unprofessional additionally when I expressed to her that I will be sure to make it known to her superiors that her attitude is unacceptable she responded with "THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM".... as customers who have been going to Sweet Chick FOR YEARS it is SAD that a company so prestigious has to hire people of such low class. It was great! Upon arriving it was busy and there was a line and wait list. They have outdoor New York curbside dining it was full too. The wait wasn't long since it was just 2 of us. The bar drinks were great and they give you water. Known for the chicken and waffle selection...multiple flavor waffle and multiple flavor chicken and multiple types of chicken to choose from. You can get tenders or whole pieces of chicken. I ordered the white meat garlic parm chicken with a classic waffle. First, I like the ambiance and the customer service was great. But let's get real, the food is what makes a place. I enjoyed the mac n cheese but I really came for the chicken and waffles. I'm sad to say I did NOT like the chicken at all. Turns out they brine the chicken with some mixture overnight that to me gives it a weird taste. Call me old school but I like fried chicken that taste like fried chicken. The waffles were good and I did like the different flavored butters they provided. I even had dessert. I ordered the bourbon pecan pie. Felt like I was just eating sweetened pecans. Took a few bites and gave the rest to my Dad who really liked all the pecans. Also if you have Michael as your host, then you get hit with a double whammy with excellent customer service as icing. He educated me on how this place became so famous and offer great recommendations because he knew it is the first time visiting this Restaurant. Did I mention the chicken is finger-licking good? Sorry KFC, they got you beat and that goes to you too, Miss Popeyes lady! IHOP I see you hiding, under the table. We don't need you, no more! A Williamsburg solid, and the best fried chicken I've had outside of New Orleans, paired with the best waffles outside of Belgium. The menu expands outside that option, but I can't recommend branching out until you've tried the chicken and waffles, which come with an area of toppings. I'm a fan of classic, but it comes in variations like red velvet and cheddar bacon as well. Walk around Williamsburg after to burn the calories and hunt for dessert and your next drink. There is no downside to this restaurant and it deserves six out of five stars, if that we possible. read more

Beautiful spot. Delicious food that was obviously made with love. Literally the best home fries I've ever had. Great place if you're on vacation and want a strong drink and a hearty brunch. Me and my friend are vegetarians and they even had options for us (usually not the case at chicken n waffle spots). The waffles are great. They were crispy, which is different than what I was used to, but executed beautifully. The chicken was tender. I came here on a Sunday night after a long flight in from Detroit. I would only be here for the evening before I headed out the next day. Upon checking the reviews I was hesitant to come in, but when I set my eyes on the vibrant sign displayed on the outer frontal area, I decided to give the place a shot. Who knew Sweet Chick would be so good. I've been to this location on 3 occasions. Once when it was really slow and twice when it was extremely busy, all three times the food and service was amazing. I made my mom wait 2 hours and she said it was completely worth it. When my family recently came into town, I went to the Ludlow location, and it is just as good. Get the grits! I'm from Cali and have tried the famous "Roscoe's chicken and waffles " Lets just say "sweet chick" gives roscoes a run for its money. I stopped by there wedensday night with my girl and decided to give it a try. The fried chicken is one of the best I had! Today, on Mother's Day, I decided to revisit the restaurant with my family, but unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that the menu had changed significantly since our last visit. I loved their fried chicken. It's served with either waffles (classic, bacon & cheddar, rosemary & mushroom), or in a bucket with a biscuit and collard slaw. The menu also includes a kale salad, a pickle plate, mac and cheese, "sloppy duck" sliders, and a $32 dry-aged ribeye. Tried this spot out last weekend for the first time and I'll definitely be heading back when I'm craving something down home (which is all the time). The establishment looks pretty unassuming from the outside, but as soon as you walk in, you are transported in time to a cozy, vintage themed café with a small bar and a few tastefully scattered tables. I glanced over the raw oysters on another table and was very unimpressed by their miniature size. Also, unlike what their website states, the happy hour oysters are actually $1.50 each, which I found slightly annoying and maybe they should work on updating their website. Instead of going the raw route, I ordered the charbroiled oysters off the happy hour menu to start. I also heard their hush puppies are really famous and so I wanted to give them a try as well. For my main entrée, I saw another patron with a chicken sandwich and I ordered it. The hush puppies were really good, slightly on the sweet side with a fluffy corn batter, crunchy exterior. The dipping sauce that came on the side was actually a molasses butter, which was to die for. I do think that the hush puppies were a little bit on the greasier side, I could see that the insides had soaked in some oil which is never good for a fried item. They should probably work on frying these at a better temperature to keep the dish light and not as greasy. The chicken sandwich I was expecting from the looks of it for the chicken fillet to be meatier and thicker, but, when I bit into it, it was a lot more breading than I thought it would be with very little chicken. The side of pickles that came with the sandwich were absolutely delicious and really held a sandwich together because all that grease really needed a solid pickle to cut through it and these pickles did exactly that. I would love if they served even more of those on the side with the sandwich. The salad that came on the side of my sandwich was bright, well seasoned and delicious and not drowning and olive oil, which I appreciated. The charbroiled oysters were honestly a disappointment. This is a dish that probably would've worked well if they were using larger size oysters, but the topping to oyster ratio was just really off. The whole thing was extremely salty and the sauces on the oysters completely overpowered the oyster flavor. These were served with sourdough bread, which was a nice touch because the bread carries the sauce from the oysters very well. The oysters themselves had a lot of grease and then the toasted bread was also very greasy. I think that's one thing that I really did not like about this place is that their food was EXTREMELY GREASY. Normally food with fried components is not supposed to be this heavy but having this meal actually made me feel ill afterwards, and I only ate half of everything and had mad leftovers. I hope that they can improve on certain things based on my feedback. Service was friendly, it's a small space and it's not too hard to get a server's attention. I think their menu has so much potential. If they could just make a few need changes to elevate the quality of their food, this would be easily a five star establishment.
