Meat quality was good and bread felt fresh but just a little hard to chew. For basically 16$, there was only two thin slices of provolone. Compared to some of the photos I saw, the sandwich was a bit lacking on the toppings of meat/cheese. People super friendly and service was quick. Blessings Cafe just did a big renovation and re-opened August 6th, and the renovation looks FANTASTIC! I love the new tile decor, and they have added on some new items to their menu they're trying out (the Stack [breakfast], Yogurt & Granola, Hummus Chicken Wrap, Italian Hero cold sandwich, and Turkey Pesto cold sandwich [different from the panini]). They also now have pastries from Fresh Baguette, yum! And a new coffee menu that looks fabulous, though I don't drink coffee so can't chime in on how delicious I'm sure it is. And they still have fresh-baked warm cookies any time! The new seating layout is fantastic and makes much more sense for the cafe, in my opinion - allows people to wait off to the side when things get crowded for lunch time, and people can come and relax here and enjoy a meal more comfortably than before. I had completely forgotten they have a Starbucks on-site with a limited menu. Of course, I couldn't leave without grabbing a cookie and a chocolate croissant for later. The food arrived fresh, hot, and exactly as expected. The staff is always friendly and personable. You see professionals, students and the locals coming in and out, but there is seating available. Conversations are at a minimum and despite the attached restaurant you can still hear yourself and the other person without yelling. One thing I appreciate about Best Buns is the consistency. Whether it's been months or years between visits, the quality never seems to change. The sandwiches are flavorful, the ingredients taste fresh, and nothing feels like it was sitting around waiting to be reheated. Everything is prepared to order, and you can taste the difference. My sandwich disappeared one bite at a time, and Hubs completely demolished his croissant sandwich without hesitation. That's usually all the confirmation I need. Some restaurants are good. Some are memorable, but there are the places that become part of your routine whenever you're back in town. Best Buns has earned that status for us. Five stars earned! Consistently fresh. There were five employees working, yet almost no attention was given to the customers standing in line. Instead, everyone seemed focused on online orders while the in-store line barely moved. If you're going to ask customers to come into your restaurant, they shouldn't feel like second-class customers behind the app. This isn't a staffing issue. It's a management issue. With five people on the floor, there should be someone owning the front line and taking care of the people who made the effort to walk in. Instead, it felt disorganized, inefficient, and frustrating. The food saved this from being a one-star review, but the way this restaurant is being run needs serious attention. Management needs to rethink their priorities and create a better balance between digital orders and the customers standing right in front of them.
