My wedding is now done and I wanted to write an update as I used Sweet Traders for my wedding cake as well. Again, Rachael and Andrea were a pleasure to work with. Still prompt with their response either through emails or by phone and were professional. They took all my drawings and ideas and made the cake I truly wanted. My mom really loved Prince William and Kate's cake, which I know would have cost $$$ to do an exact replica. So I drew up a simplified version of it take certain elements from the cake to put onto mine. They listened and delivered just that. And on top of that, the cake tasted heavenly! It's been two days since my wedding and I'm still eating the leftover cake I took home! Use them for your wedding cake or special event! Pricing is VERY reasonable and affordable! *The photo is taken by my cousin from his camera. The flowers were placed on by my florist. I came across this place by accident. I didn't even know that this place came with the accolades that it has. My girlfriend told me to pick a place to get my birthday cake. I searched for bakery's in Irvine that specialized in cakes. I came across a few, but this one stood out to for some strange reason. Anyways I sent it over to my girlfriend and we picked the cake up yesterday. I got a yellow cake with butter cream frosting and lemon and raspberry filling. I'm aware of how crazy there designs can get but I went with something simple. Crazy thing is my girlfriend doesn't even eat cake, but this cake she thoroughly enjoyed and I enjoyed it too. ATTENTION: Please DO NOT place orders for a Wedding Cake from Sweet Traders in Huntington Beach, CA! If I could give ZERO Stars I would!! I advise you as a conscious customer who did a lot of research before coming here... Don't be fooled by the 5 Stars they carry on Yelp. I had a horrendous experience with the cake delivered to the venue on my wedding day from Sweet Traders. Samantha Muzzy, Head Pastry Chef and eventually the owner Rachael Louw did not care about my concern and complaint after requesting a Full Refund for the very hard, dry, gummy consistency, no taste 3 tier cake they created for me. Not the same soft cake and filling I tasted at the tasting appointment. My guests, the groom and I (bride) noticed that something was wrong with the cake and left it on the tables. This broke my heart! I submitted a complaint via email and left a couple of messages wanting to talk to a live person regarding my wedding cake order that was unsatisfactory hence the $720 price tag. I was left out in the cold! I was only given the runaround from Samantha and Rachael for not calling me back. I was also told the owner was on vacation, but that she was firm on her decision, disregarding my feelings, concerns and complaint and it being a nuisance. All they did was reach out via email with lame excuses of why the cake was the way it was (blamed the weather) and offered me $50 then $100 as final consolation prize for ruining my special wedding day!! read more

Sweet Traders was my top choice to create our wedding cake. They are one of the preferred vendors suggested by our venue. They captured my eye after viewing several cake designs via their Yelp page. I was also impressed that they had a solid five-star rating. So, I decided to send an inquiry via The Knot and received a phone call to schedule a cake consultation. Samantha was very quick and responsive through the scheduling process. We filled out an information form via email with 4 cake flavors for the tasting. We opted to pick up a to-go box of cake samples due to the current health restrictions. We were a bit disappointed upon receipt of the cakes. I'm not familiar with wedding cake tasting. But, they gave us 4 cake slices with the filling in a separate plastic container. I assumed we would get cake samples that were ready made like an in-house tasting. Overall, we chose a white chocolate, vanilla, almond and marble cakes for sampling. Our filling choices: strawberry, raspberry, pineapple and praline chocolate cream. We let the cakes sit at room temperature for 45 minutes before trying. The only flavor that stood out was the white chocolate with strawberry cream. The cake was moist but the cream was a bit tart. I'm not sure if our cake tasting would have better on site at the bakery. We decided to go with another vendor. read more

Sweet Traders work is amazing! We were married 9/22/18. They were an ease to work with and I am so happy that we chose them as our wedding baker. Sweet Traders was listed as an option via our wedding catering company (TGIS), and after going to the initial tasting we were sold! Andrea and Rachael were so helpful and the service was consistently excellent during the planning process. We wanted a cake that matched our wedding decor- a modern, brushed marbled cake, gold artistic flecks, with cake tiers of varying heights. Not only was our wedding cake stunning, the taste and quality of the cake was amazing. I am in love with the detail pictures of our cake. They even said that they would make us a complimentary 1-year anniversary cake! I mean, it doesn't get much better than Sweet Traders. read more

My husband and I got married February 18, 2018, and as many people know, finding the right vendors to make your day special takes a lot of work! Lucky for me, I came across Sweet Traders on a whim a couple years prior! I was in a pinch to get cake pops and cupcakes for my friends bridal shower! I had someone lined up to make them, but she bailed the week of the shower! Sweet Traders pulled through for us with only a few days notice! In order to be objective and be for certain, we did a couple of cake tastings at different bakeries, but those all flopped and we reached out to Sweet Traders! The cake tasting was amazing! They sent us all the flavors in advance and we had to choose which cakes and fillings (choice of 4 each) we wanted to try! The only downside with this 4 limit is that there were so many we wanted to try! They allowed us to have 4 people so we brought my parents and were able to taste a variety of combinations! We narrowed it down to lemon blueberry cake with a raspberry filling and the second flavor we chose was a banana pecan with buttercream filling! So good! The cake was so moist and just right! Then our consultant, Samantha, sat with us and asked us what we were envisioning for a cake as well as the theme we were going for! Then she proceeded to sketch out exactly what we were thinking, while also making some great suggestions that we didn't even consider! Not only that, but the price was right for us!! They were just as affordable if not slightly a little more affordable than other bakeries we looked into, and we got so much more than the others would have given! The day of the wedding finally arrives; I'm worried "what if the cake isn't as moist as on the tasting because now it'll be more than just a 'tasting' piece?!" But when we tried it, it was so moist and just as delicious! Not only that, but it was beautiful and just everything we asked for and could have wanted! Amazing cake, actually delicious, not too sweet, so many flavors and vegan options. We did marble and red velvet. We didn't put out other dessert because we wanted people to eat the cake!!! The cake was designed beautifully for our wedding. Everyone we worked with was super friendly as well. We even came back for our 1 year anniversary for a small commemorative cake. read more

Ordered my baby shower cake and mini desserts from here and I was more than impressed with how it all turned out. Scheduled a consultation and decided to have a cake made with cream puffs and s'more pops on the side. Luckily the baby shower venue was close by as it made pick up easy for the desserts. The cake itself wasn't too sweet and the icing was exceptional, definitely exceeding my expectations. I called around and got prices from other bakeries however Sweet Traders was the most reasonable. Andrea is a Fairy Cake Mother! If you can Pinterest it, she can make it! She made this cake for my Peter Rabbit themed baby shower. The cake was a hit! Super moist and not too sweet. We hired Sweet Traders to make our wedding cake. A big reason we decided to go with Sweet Traders is the amount of options they give you. They let you mix and match icing and cake flavors, which allows you to create your ideal wedding cake. We had a lot of fun at the tasting getting to try out our favorite icing / cake combo. Wow. What a wonderful experience. We had a zoom wedding with 6 people. But we weren't going to compromise on the cake. The cake was beautiful and the cupcakes we passed out to our neighbors in goody bags were beautiful and a hit! Our guests all said "this wedding cake is the best we have ever had". We had Sweet Traders for our wedding 10/7/17 and I can still think about the desserts today. We had a 2 tier cake as well as a dessert table. We had a cake tasting at their facility and thought about our budget before committing to them. They worked with us when we weren't sure of what to design for the cake. Sweet Traders was awesome to work with from the moment I inquired if they could even do a cake for me with short notice. I had a vision in mind for my sisters Great Gatsby themed bridal shower and they executed it flawlessly! Andrea had me send photos of my vision and gave me a quote through email since I live out of state. I chose the coconut cake with pineapple cream and it was so delicious, everyone kept talking about it. The bottom tier was almond cake with raspberry cream and it was also very good. Sometimes pretty cakes don't taste good but this exceeded everyone's expectations. I normally don't like fondant, but even their fondant is Devine! read more

I ordered my wedding cake from Sweet Traders. I had a design in mind and they executed it perfectly. My wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. I love passion fruit desserts with sweet and slightly tart taste. I was excited they had passion fruit frosting but during our taste testing, passion fruit frosting was too tart that it didn't compliment any cake options. I gave them my feedback and they were able to adjust to my liking. I ordered lemon blueberry cake with passion fruit frosting and chocolate cake with oreo frosting. Lemon blueberry cake with passion fruit frosting was a hit at my wedding that it ran out. I wished I ordered more. I highly recommend Sweet Traders cake. It's beautiful and delicious and people at Sweet Traders are wonderful to work with. read more

I contacted sweet traders numerous times and no response at all. I sent the first email and got a response with a list of details of what I needed to send back to get my quotes and then over a week later of 3 more emails and a phone call with a voicemail left I still have yet to hear back. It's extremely unprofessional to ignore your inquiring customers that have a wedding coming up just right around the corner. I wasted over a week of trying to get a hold of them when I could have been calling other places and doing more research had I know they couldn't accommodate me. I would never want to work with a business who treats their customers like this. I am a very busy hair stylist and have clients getting married and having all sorts of events left and right so I'm a great source of marketing for pretty much anything since all we do is talk for hours. I won't be recommending sweet traders. read more

Our cake was gorgeous! I wanted something a little different, something clean and stylish. I had an in-person meeting with Andrea and Rachel, and Rachel was really good about emailing me to make sure we were on the same page. Our flavors were coconut cake with raspberry cream and fresh raspberries and lemon blueberry with vanilla Bavarian and fresh blueberries. It was seriously divine. When I go back to LA, I think I'm just going to order a few sheet cakes just because. And the prices we were quoted were very reasonable. Sweet Traders was recommended to me by my wedding coordinator, and after comparing with other bakeries that were in the same caliber, I'm so glad I found them. read more

I had a really awesome experience with Sweet Traders, which is saying a lot because I dealt with them entirely from another state. Andrea was really helpful and an overall pleasant person to work with. They came up with the (adorable) idea and even delivered the cake for a small fee for me. I was super annoying and kept bugging them for updates and a photo since I couldn't be there to make sure I handed it off on time myself and they were really chill about that also! Texted me a photo and everything. On top of that, arguably the most important part, the cake itself got rave reviews from the birthday boy and everyone he shared it with. It's important for the cake to taste as good as it looks, and this place exceeded 5 stars in both categories and more. I'm very grateful for this place read more

My cake was more than amazing! I don't like sweets so I brought my best friend and my husband for the initial cake tasting, thinking I would trust their judgment. But Sweet Traders cakes are... out of this world! I ate all the cake at the tasting and every day for the next three weeks I found myself saying "I wish we could have more cake today". But also, the cake was beautiful. I had so many random ideas and the Sweet Traders staff took my dreams and made them bigger and better. Our cake was an absolute dream! Seriously, the cake is amazing in terms of taste and design but theres a third factor that is probably most important. Planning a wedding is so stressful. There are so many decisions and contracts etc. There was absolutely nothing stressful about the process of buying a cake. I was 100% confident after meeting with Sweet Traders. I cancelled other cake tasting appointments because I need to see no more. Thank you Sweet Traders. We felt honored to have you as a part of our wedding day. I absolutely loved my daughters cake for her sweet 16. It was everything we discussed and more. We ordered two different flavors, one was chocolate chip cake and the other was white chocolate. We did one with Oreo filling. I am glad I tried a new bakery because now I'm a fan for life. We also ordered desserts, they have the best macaroons hands down. The fruit tart, pina Colada, and Oreo cookie shooters were also delish! You won't regret coming here. read more

We ordered wedding cakes for both our small pandemic wedding in 2020 and for our big reception in 2021 and they turned out amazing! They also made us matching gluten free cupcakes and an awesome frozen themed smash cake for our flower girl whose birthday was the same day. They all turned out beautiful and tasted delicious! Everyone especially raved about the peanut butter chocolate layer (an unusual flavor for a cake, but it was really, really good). We will definitely keep them in mind for the future! read more

Cake tasting was our favorite part of the wedding planning process, and after visiting a few other bakeries, Sweet Traders was hands down the most professional and best tasting cakes out of the ones we tried! From the get-go, Sweet Traders kept really great communication, was super organized and the staff were really professional. All e-mails were answered within 24-48 hours. I was surprised how moist the cakes were and how tasty (and not too sweet) the various icings and fillings were. I just wish we could've had all 3 flavors at our wedding! You could tell the staff was really knowledgeable and experts within the wedding industry, as they knew exactly what time to deliver and what they'd need, even offering recommendations along the way. I didn't really have to give much direction other than the design of our cake. On our wedding day, all I had to do was have our florist/coordinator provide the flowers and cake topper at the venue, and Sweet Traders took care of the rest. I didn't even have to confirm the guest count, our venue (Old Ranch Country Club) worked directly with them. I loved how our cake came out, and am so happy we went with Sweet Traders. read more

We love Sweet Traders! My husband, mother-in-law, mother, sister, and I visited 3 bakeries total and did their cake tastings. After comparing notes and going off of overall vibe, we all agreed that Sweet Traders was the one to choose. The way the cake tasting was organized and the help we received from the staff, really put Sweet Traders a notch above the rest. We loved the different cake flavors and various combinations we were able to create. Furthermore, my husband and I had a specific vision for how we wanted our cake to look and they nailed it perfectly. The cake was so pretty I was almost did not want to cut into it but am relieved our photographer captured such beautiful photos :) We received many compliments from guests about the cake appearance and cake flavors and we couldn't be happier with our decision. If you're looking for a professional, reliable company who will do an awesome job, look no further. We will definitely be ordering from Sweet Traders again! read more

Delicious and cute cakes, what more could you possibly ask for? We ordered our wedding cake from Sweet Traders when our baker backed out last minute. They were able to accommodate our wedding even though they only had 2-3 month lead time. They had us come immediately for a consultation. +Whimsical flavors and a lot of variety that are delicious! Ranges from chocolate to funfetti! We went with almond cake and raspberry butter cream and the second cake was strawberry cake with vanilla butter cream. We received so many compliments on it and it looked beautiful when we cut into it! +Beautifully decorated. They work mostly with butter cream but i loved the way it came out versus using fondant. +Professional and quick to respond to all emails. -A little pricey but worth it. Tips: *If you're doing this for your wedding, make sure you do a display cake and then get sheet cake if you want to save money. *They don't supply flowers so your florist will need to coordinate with them. *Don't save the top tier, just order a small version of your wedding cake a year later. read more

My husband and I had sweet traders provide a small cutting cake and dessert station for our wedding of 160+ guests. Working with them was extremely simple and the desserts were amazing! We did a quick cake tasting to pick our small cake and were able to taste some of the desserts for our dessert station. They had a ton of options, so it was hard to narrow it down because they were all so good! I received so many compliments about the dessert on our wedding day and they portioned everything really well. We even had some left overs which we were able to share with family and bring home after the wedding! We were also able to rent a cake stand, dessert stands and were are so glad we did because the arrangements were beautifully displayed and we didn't even have to think about it on our wedding day. Sweet Traders even includes an anniversary cake and we are so looking forward to it next year! I couldn't recommend Sweet Traders more and know that you will be in the best hands. To better accomdate our ever growing clientel requests we have recently added a mini dessert bar menu - pricing available upon request. We are a small boutique bakery, our cakes are baked to order and during wedding season - June - Aug, we usually we require 1 to 2 weeks notice for all orders.For all other months 1 to 2 days notice is required. All wedding cake consultations are by appointment only so please call in advance to avoid disappointment. We apologize, however consultations will not be scheduled until your venue is booked.

For 22 years Tomfoolery Serious Chocolate was known throughout Orange County for it's mousse cakes chocolates and hand dipped chocolate wines and champagnes. However in 2004, under new ownership we expanded our business to specialize in wedding and unusual cakes and changed our name to Sweet Traders to better define all that we do!

I come back to pick up the cake. It comes out hot and newly decorated with icing. 10 minutes down the road I check the cake, and the icing is completely melted. By then it's 9pm and I can't turn around to go back to the store. The next morning around 11am I called the store to speak with the manager. I leave my contact info, and I receive a call within 20 minutes from the store manager, Dustin. I explain the situation and how the cake is not presentable anymore for the birthday event I ordered it for. He apologizes and offers a dozen cookies or a refund. Since there's no time for me to drive back to Huntington Beach for a party that is in Pasadena within the next hour, we opt for the refund and Dustin states, "This is my personal number, I'll shoot you a text when that refund goes through." A week later, no refund, no communication, no follow-up. I called Dustin one more time, left a voicemail and one additional text just incase. Over the course of several days, still no response. Suffice to say, it is what it is. I just wanted a refund for the cake that I bought which I ended up not even bringing to the event I got it for because of the melted icing. They offer a wide variety of flavors, and you do get one free sample per person before deciding. I'm a big cake person when it comes to special events so that of course means I have high expectations when it comes to dessert tables and what not. I've always been going to a this one other store near my house but since they've been lacking in the proper customer service, I decided maybe it's time to find a new place. So after some research and calls, I came across Sweet Traders. I even came there and checked out the place because I wanted to see what type of flavors they offered & I've got to admit, their variation in flavors and colors is tremendously impressive. So last year for my boyfriend's sister's birthday, I decided to do an "under the sea" theme and I got everything done by them! They even delivered it for me but that was for across nm extra fee of course. & there's also a minimum required for delivery! Ever since my previous order with them, they've always been my go-to spot for orders. I just placed an order with them last night! Although I placed it pretty last minute, Rachael was still able to accommodate to my request. I love that she was very quick and responsive via email. Now that my order has been put in, all there is left to do is wait and see how this cake turns out! I found this business on Yelp after looking for bakeries to do a custom cake for my sons birthday and was impressed by all the great reviews despite the odd one or two negative ones. Having lived in Europe we became spoiled by the high quality of bakeries there so I was looking for a bakery that used a real buttercream, not the Crisco mixed with powdered sugar, like many American bakeries. I live in Long Beach and have tried most of the ones here and have been disappointed. I was very impressed with the young lady that helped me, I had a budget to keep to so she suggested doing a smaller cake and then cupcakes for the rest to keep the cost down. We had a yummy moist lemon cake with raspberry cream and Italian buttercream frosting, and chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream. We had so many compliments from our friends and kids going back for a second cupcake and the design came out great. This is now my third bakery I have tried in Huntington Beach, having already been to Great Dane & Bubba Sweets and been vastly disappointed. Well, third times a charm and Sweet Traders is a keeper for me! My only regret is that they are not a regular retail bakery and you do need to pre-order. read more

Everything was perfect. We went to them first when looking for cake bakers for our wedding cake. The baker herself greeted us (unlike the cashier at other places). She was friendly and helped us design a wedding cake unique to us. It was the best quality cake we've ever tasted!! Every other bakery we tried was such a let down in comparison. They arrived on time wedding day. We had three tier square cake and everyone kept asking if they were boxes with the cake inside. It was perfectly symmetrical!! I thought they were going to be on the lighter, less sweet side because it's Asian owned, but the frosting is on the sweeter, heavier side. The cakes are moist and sweet as well. I especially liked the birthday cake with confetti in it and sprinkles. They are big and well worth the $! Super cute inside too!

It's very easy to make frosting too sweet, but the sugar levels in everything was just right! The cake had a lovely crumb and was moist on the inside. There was a deep, dark chocolate flavor. Sometimes with chocolate cake, the cake can be too rich and fudgy, but this cake did not have this problem. It was such an addicting cake and I could not stop myself from continuing to eat it. Again, it was well balanced, flavorful, had a good mouthfeel, and not too sweet. PERFECTION! Additionally, the party was a space themed party so we asked for a space-themed cake and the cake was SO CUTE. If I need cake for an event again, I will definitely order from here. She even suggested a few ideas since I'm not super creative. She also worked around our super obnoxious football wedding topper and it still looked great! She was very professional and on the day of, she took care of everything flawlessly with my coordinator. We mainly intended on having pies because my husband doesn't really even like cake but this cake was different. Honestly probably the best cake we've ever had and it we couldn't even bring ourselves to freeze it. We fought over who got to eat what was left of it. I would highly recommend Maegan if you need desserts! This was the one food item at our wedding that our guests still talk about because it was so delicious. But my first taste of her cookies were at a decorating class! I came with a few friends, and learned how to pipe royal icing on to pre-baked sugar cookies. For $40 we got to decorate 6 cookies apiece to take home. When I went, it was a summer theme, so we did two cacti, 2 pineapples, and 2 watermelon slices. They came out very cute, though mine were not as smooth as they should have been. Practice makes perfect though. Looking forward to trying again! They had a number which I called and the person on the other end gave a number which I could text more details about what I needed, for how many, my name, etc. Since they were driving and couldn't take my order at the moment I made sure to provide as much info and the time/day. I put the order 5 days before I said it needed it and they agreed it can be done by then. I thought it was easy and I just followed it up with the change of topping on the cake. I explicitly stated to text me if they needed anything else from me since I have never done this before. I probably should've followed them up, but I was busy that week. Since I didn't hear anything afterwards I thought I had secured my order. The day I come to pick up the cake, they tell me they don't have the order. The lady who I spoke to, who I'm assuming was on the phone when I initially called, is telling me I put a request not an order and that I didn't even provide my full name (not true, I did). I'm being told that I shouldve put down a deposit and have a contract with them for the cake. I wasn't provided with any contract or a Zelle username. If I had that information I would've absolutely done it. As a business you should provide the customer with that sort of information. I had no idea and I wasn't told that thru text. Should I have followed up? Absolutely, i know that now. There's no information on the website about a contract or deposit information. Only the phone number that I first called. So they should probably update that if they have so many orders and can't keep track with request. There was a lot of deflection from the lady when i tried to explain my grievance. No apology either for the confusion. I felt crazy because I thought I might've missed their messages. Nope nothing. Only the Zelle information after I had arrive there. Luckily, they had puff pastry ready and told me they could have the cake ready in 15 min, and I really needed the cake so I agree to still do business. When I got the cake it was still warm and they told me to freeze it in my refrigerator for it to set. 15 min to get to my place and the ganache has melted off the top and custard had already spilled out from the sides. I had a long drive afterwards and not even an insulated bag could save it. It did taste good, it's too bad about communication, and everything else.
