I went to SweetDiner for the first time this weekend and I was highly impressed. The restaurant is beautiful- all beautiful white marble, it reminded me of a restaurant you would go to in Chicago. We made reservations on wait list, everyone in your party needs to be there before they will seat you. We ordered the Brioche french toast and Chilaquiles. Both were very delicious. I visited this brunch spot for the first time today, and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere is modern and chic. They have a nice waiting area to sit and have drinks in while you wait for your table to be ready, and I thought that was a nice alternative to huddling awkwardly by the door. I ordered their Bloody Mary and my fiance tried their cappuccino. While the bloody was just okay, the cappuccino was absolutely delicious. For entrees, I had their special - the nutella crepes - and a side order of the chive biscuit. The nutella crepes were everything I wanted them to be and more. They were rich, delicious, and the strawberries on the plate went perfectly with the nutella. Additionally, the chive biscuit was fantastic and totally satisfied my breakfast biscuit craving. My fiance ordered the creme brulee french toast, and that was also to die for. It was sweet, perfectly cooked, fluffy, thick-cut pieces of bread topped with powdered sugar, whipped cream, berries, and syrup. It doesn't get much better than this. Overall, I would definitely recommend SweetDiner, and I plan to come back again to try more of their delicious menu. read more

I would consider this place to be Milwaukee's hottest new brunch spot. I consider myself a foodie, and though this place hasn't been open long, I've had the opportunity to try many items on their menu. Everything has been amazing. From the French toast, skillets, pancakes & omelets, to their burgers and sandwiches. The decor is clean and high end, yet their pricing is very affordable. Recently they've upped their coffee bar game, offering a complete line of coffees, pour overs, and ice coffee selections. The first time I tried this place was in December 2018 and I was left with my mouth agape!!! The food and the service was so wonderful the unlimited mimosas were a hit!!! I ordered it every time! Slowly but surely I started to get disappointed with the service and the food! The unlimited mimosas price went up, the service got tand the food changed!! 2x now I have ordered the breakfast potatoes and they are old and disgusting, nothing like the ones I had back in December. The eggs look like ones from McDonald's, absolutely horrible!!! Unfortunately I will not be returning to this place. Visiting MKE and decided to come here for breakfast. They had a wide variety of drinks and food available. It was semi busy for a Saturday AM. Service was good but a few signs that the worker culture wasn't too great. People didn't seem too happy and communication was weird between team members. Grabbed two nitro coffees which were both great and food was good! Tacos and Ham Skillet, pretty good. Atmosphere was good aside from the weird employee notes. read more

We had brunch here today and it is SUCH a vibe. The minimalist modern decor is on point. The service was excellent, the coffee is hot, and food is good. I had the biscuits & gravy eggs Benedict and a hazelnut cappuccino. The biscuits were the best part. The sausage under the egg was also well seasoned. The only thing I disliked was that the sausage in the gravy tasted different and less seasoned. Maybe it was chicken sausage? Not sure. The cappuccino was not overly sweet which made it perfect. My husband had the cornbread waffles and Memphis chicken and an americano. I recommend adding the hot sauce on the chicken before you eat it. I tried the chicken with no sauce and it was very very plain. When you add the hot sauce it adds the salty element that was desperately needed. His americano was was perfectly hot and the right amount of water was added and didn't dilute the espresso too much. Speaking of the service again, the door was opened for us as we arrived. Very friendly staff. We were promptly served and our waitress was attentive. It wasn't too busy at 11 am so our food came out in a timely manner. Overall, a great visit. I was shocked to see so many unfounded negative reviews of this phenomenal addition to what has been a somewhat "opportunistic" neighborhood, I'm giving a true unbiased review from the perspective of someone who actually lives in the area. From the first day we stepped foot into this beautifully designed and gleamingly spotless delicious diner, we have had nothing but phenomenal service, food, drinks, and efficiency. Aside from the fact we are now literally regulars, eating either breakfast or lunch at minimum twice a week since it's opening, the Management and service team does exactly that...provide heartwarming, friendly, neighborhood service and quality food. Every restaurant, especially those that become a sensation overnight have their opportunities, but SweetDiner and the entire team have quickly identified these potential opportunities, tweaked, and will soon perfect it to maintain, in my opinion, their "best in the hood" reputation among locals. There is not one place in Milwaukee to have a true Croque Madame or a delicious Chilaquiles dish accompanied by a true Bloody Mary or the "I can't stop drinking them" SweetDiner mimosa. I was visiting Milwaukee and was recommended to go here. The vibe is cool, very hip. Menu items all look great, it is somewhat limited. Other people around us had different food than what I saw on the menu so not sure if ours was limited or that there's a secret menu. The only issue was that we waited an HOUR before even getting food on our table. I had to ask if we could get a bowl of fruit as an app. We weren't told any updates/the waiter never addressed that it was taking long. Our group was definitely getting hangry... Finally we asked to see a manager and they apologized. They handled the situation well and fairly adjusted the check - which was really sweet. My sweetie and I went to sweet diner ( pun intended ) I ordered chicken and cornbread waffle with whipped butter and maple syrup. Our server was perfect. Polite, respectful, helpful and accommodating. Even though he was busy he always seemed to mystically appear to ask us how things were, refill our coffee and seemed to read my mind by asking me if I wanted a straw (don't judge me I still like straws) I had the fresh squeezed orange juice. The prices and portions are totally in line with breakfast in Milwaukee. The restaurant space was lit nicely with a lofty feel kind of reminds me of a spot in NYC but truly holding it's in the Third Ward. There is a nice big screen television on mute for the sports fans who love their family breakfast time but need to still peek at the sports world. Feel free to ask for off the menu items like the carne asada eggs Benedict, instead of having it with English muffin experiment and substitute it for the delicious fluffy in house biscuit and if you are weirdo like me eat it deconstructed (slightly you still want to have the taste of the egg, sauce and meat in one bite with biscuit...however keep in mind that the biscuit is a treat on its own and very delicate... Friends from NYC came here for brunch and said it is one of the best brunch spots, so you know it is good! I came here twice. Two days in a row. Why? Because the food is delicious and decently priced. The portions are big and you will leave feeling full and satisfied. It is spacious so there's a good amount of seating, but it can get busy on the weekend! My friend and I sat in front of the open kitchen and it has the best view of all the fresh made food that are coming out. It makes you want to try everything! I had the guiltless omelette but with whole eggs. The second time I had the Belgian waffles which had a beautiful presentation. My friend had the biscuits and gravy egg Benedict which was a heavy dish, but very good. The second time my friend had the salmon dish which was their special of their day that was not on the menu. I am a fan of this place. A friend of mine and I visited the establishment on a Sunday. We were expecting it to be packed and it was. Based on the number of people waiting, we were expecting to be told there wold a wait of over an hour. To our surprise, we were told 30 minutes.. score! Wait Time: We were quoted 30 minutes. At 33 minutes we were called to be seated at our table. However, another couple of a party of two who came in after us was seated before us. 10 minutes later, we were finally sat. We were told there was a communication error. We get it -- mistakes happen. However, this is where my original 5 star becomes 4. Food: Friend ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The pancakes were delicious, the chicken and waffles were subpar (overcooked and lacked taste). I chalk this up to personal taste/opinion. I will just remember not to order them again and try some of the other delicious looking food I saw being delivered to other tables. Atmosphere: The place looks amazing and has a lot of charm in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. There is a "bar" where you can get coffees and mimosas while you wait for your table -- at least on the weekends. Little pricey but that is to be expected given the current trend of brunch places.
