I'm such a huge fan of this place. They are fast, efficient, and super fresh. Their salad combos are always on point. I tend to be a creature of habit, but am always impressed and willing to try their new/seasonal creations. They never let me down. My favorite will always be the warm harvest bowl, but everything I've tried is delicious. I haven't ordered it in a while, because I'm curious about their seasonal bowls. I finally had the chance to try this place out the other day for lunch. You can customize your own salads, or you can choose one from the menu. Since I wasn't feeling creative, I opted for the misoba salad, which consists of soba noodles, avocado, corn, carrots, seed mix, miso sesame vinaigrette, and sriracha -- at first, I thought it was kind of odd to have all of those ingredients mixed together, but it actually tasted pretty good! (The sriracha added an extra kick to the salad) You're also offered complimentary buckwheat bread with your salad. They also offer frozen yogurt and drinks here. I really like the "green" philosophy that Sweet Green promotes, from using biodegradable silverware, bags, and dishware to using vegetables from organic and local farmers. Upon walking in, the design/ambiance reminded me of places in LA.I opted for the Guacamole green salad and the girlfriend got the Rad Thai. Both the salads were very fresh and the portion size was decent. The dressing for the guacamole green salad was unique and refreshing. The Rad Thai salad was also good, although I am not sure if the name is appropriate for this salad. The only Thai thing about this dish is the use of bean sprouts. With that all said their salads are a bit on the pricier side. I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't paying a bit extra for a fresh salad. Yay! Another Sweetgreen opened near me. I'm really loving the new Mosaic District and all the "DC" spots that are opening up here. It's really going to be a great spot. On one of the days I was exploring the new spots that had opened, I stopped into Sweetgreen for lunch. Aesthetically, the design of the place is nice, but it's really small. If it's busy and there's a line, you have to wrap around a cluster of tables. I'd feel awkward if I was sitting there. The guy who made my salad was awesome. He was very enthusiastic and excited that I was the first "March Salad" order that he got. However the girl who mixed the salad annoyed me. First, the guy told her that I didn't want cheese. Got it. She asked if I wanted bread and I said "no, thank you." Then she threw in the cheese. !!! I tried to stop her before she dumped it in, but I was too late. She tried to scoop out as much as she could. Then she asked me if I wanted bread again. Maybe she was just having a bad day or something but going from the assembly guy who was awesome, to this girl who couldn't remember something as simple as "no cheese and no bread" was disappointing. Once I made it through the check out line, the place was pretty busy so I struggled to find a place to sit. Aside from the cluster of chairs right by the line/ordering area, the windows are lined with seats and then there are are a few small tables in the back corner. I sat at the table past those. Basically, in the back alley by the bathroom. It was really awkward. However, the salad was amazing!! Kudos to that! The March Salad was a mix of greens, sweet potato, bacon, caramelized onion, candied pecans, and what was left of the blue cheese the girl couldn't scoop out. Everything blended well perfectly and it was a tasty salad. I'm pretty sure I licked my bowl clean. I want to give this place 4 or 5 stars because I really do love Sweetgreen and their delicious salads, drinks, and froyo. However....my visit this time was not as pleasant. The girl who prepared my salad wasn't very welcoming...she didn't bother to ask me if I wanted bread or a water cup. The other cashier who rung up a friend of mine offered a water cup and ask if she would like bread. It was then that the other girl offered me bread. Loved the "Earth Bowl" here as well as the bread that was served with it. Salads here are definitely on the pricier side at ~$13-14 a serving, but I didn't mind splurging a little on a salad with such fresh ingredients, tasty quinoa, and an amazing pesto dressing. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because the fresh berry lemonade tasted more like grass than lemonade. If that's what organic lemonade tastes like, no thanks! It had chicken, avocado, tortilla chips, onion, lime, cheese and dressing in it. The lime is what really put it over the top. It made the salad so refreshing and light. I came here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend since we were looking for a light lunch. There is ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and room to spare. SG is located right in the heart of the Mosaic among other businesses. Parking can be tricky depending on the time of day, but garage parking is close by - and it is FREE! Score! There was no line at the time, but it appeared as though the servers were not organized as a team. Usually I find that there are one or two people assembling salads and one person at the register for checkout. The server I had was preparing two salads at the same time until her coworker decided to jump in and help. While going down the line I noticed that the server was hastily assembling my salad since a line was forming. Towards the end she sloppily transferred the salad into a to-go container. I was only asked about bread on the side because another server mentioned it to the customer ahead of me. The bread is free so do not hesitate to ask for it. Once I ate my salad I immediately noticed that the ingredients were not uniformly mixed and distributed. I basically had a pile of leafy greens on top and had to dig to the bottom to find onions, tomatoes, etc. It was disappointing because I generally enjoy having SG at the other neighboring locations. read more
