Ordered a Harvest Bowl through the Sweetgreen app. My food was ready when I arrived and the worker who helped me out was very friendly. The service was great and the ordering process via app was very easy. 2.5 weeks I was so excited to see the new Sweetgreen to open up at Manhattan Village. I was impressed with their Harvest Salad and gave my 4 star rating and wrote about I was looking forward to trying more of their different healthy dishes. Fast forward to yesterday; October 2. I was back again at Sweetgreen to get some salads for my myself, my mom and my boyfriend. Our orders consisted of 2 Fish Taco salads and 1 Miso Roasted Corn Bowl. Orders were placed via the Sweetgreen app and process was easy. When my mom and I went to pick up the orders; we even talked about how the place the clean looked. We learned however the hard way that appearances aren't necessarily all that and soon enough found a disgusting discovery. The salad looked fresh and good when we opened the lids of our to-go order. Everything looked great until a giant green bug started moving right in the middle of the Fish Taco salad. It was alive and kicking; with it's arms and legs moving around right in the middle of the salad. It was honestly gross and there was no way we were going eat that salad. I don't know how the workers couldn't have noticed it or maybe they just keep scooping into the bowl and don't look. I also question now if they even wash their ingredients. They have lots of employees (saw this on grand opening day during my first review) as well as now during my second review; but are any of them even paying attention or being diligent with serving and cleanliness? It is rare for me to give 1 star reviews or bad reviews. Honestly this is the first time where I didn't even want to give a star at all for my review and I hate saying that because I always want to support restaurants and local businesses but I can't just fathom that in a food dish; I would find a moving large bug! It's just PLAIN DISGUSTING! For a place that's new at and upscale location; it is so bad. I understand it's a salad and things can happen however they have so many employees there and they really need to be more careful and diligent with food prep. I have now read other reviews and seen at least 2 other folks who went to this same location and had a similar experience. I honestly thought I would be frequenting this Sweetgreen but after this experience I am quite discouraged. Sweetgreen at Manhattan Village was not a sweet experience and bugs in my food is something that is gross and totally unacceptable. **update to the above** This afternoon sweetgreen emailed me and refunded me. Fancy salads with fancy ingredients--par for the course in Manhattan Beach. Pricing is on the high side and the "value" isn't amazing. I have visited multiple times since their opening and all my experiences have been pleasant. I have had good service and decent portion sizes during my visits. All the staff members I've interacted with have been helpful and competent. Sweetgreen sells salads. Sure, some are called warm bowls, but they are still salads with a couple warm ingredients. Obviously it will be wilted if you do not get it fresh. Therefore, I opt to order in person instead of online ordering or delivery services. read more

As much as I love their bowls and salads and all the fresh ingredient options, I can't bring myself to give this place more than 2 stars. We ordered lunch from this place last week for an office meeting and I was surprised as how little salad and chicken was in my bowl (kale Caesar with chicken), but didn't care since my work was paying for it and we had other snacks. I tried the place today, ordered the same salad through their app for pick up and decided to sit inside to eat it. To my surprise the bowl was half empty, there was literally maybe 2 ounces of chicken, and mostly chopped kale and when I saw other people that were ordering in person and sitting and eating, their bowls were more substantial. I am leaving this place after spending -$16 still hungry. They definitely try to take advantage of mobile orders since you don't see the end product until you are away but as a new healthy concept of they are trying to build fans and a regular customer base, they should go above and beyond to deliver beyond expectations. read more

Holy cow. I have eaten here twice this week. So yummy and wholesome. I built my own bowl both times and sampled different 'vibes' with each: both were 10/10. If you're going to get one topping, it's gotta be the sweet potato. So perfectly soft. The avocado was also exactly ripe. The first day I made it a pure salad (no grains) which was a satisfying but not heavy meal. The second time I did half arugula, half quinoa, and added some hearty toppings so it was super filling. For the quality and quantity and being in LA, I think the value here is so high. My best friend is vegan (as am I), and I can't wait to bring her here. Truly salads that don't suck!! read more

Customer service was excellent. They informed me about the rewards program. My bowl came out perfect. This location is always clean.

HORRIBLE service!!!! Three employees were up front when I arrived. Two were just standing there talking and the other was fake cleaning purposely not looking my way. I stood there for maybe 3-4 minutes before one of them slowly walked over to wash his hands to assist me. Then when it was time to pay dude just walked away! I honestly could have walked out with my food without paying but I'm too honest of an human for that! Last but certainly not least the girl that was fake cleaning helped the people that came in after me(immediately I might add) canceled out my transaction since dude was still not back to assist me and VERY RUDELY says you need to move! Frustratingly inconsistent quality and service. I love Sweetgreen and visit locations wherever I travel. When my order is accurate, it's great. Too often, it's not at this location! When I order for pickup, I make sure to conduct my own "quality control" because too often ingredients are missing or portion sizes skimped. Quality of food can be a miss at times too. Wilted cilantro, stale sourdough, and a bug in my arugula are a few encounters. The staff seemingly don't care and make negligible effort to remedy the situation. On one trip, I ordered my usual, but the cold sweet potatoes were out, so I asked that they just toss in the warm sweet potatoes. Staff said it's extra, even though the only difference is it's warmed up...plus, it's not my problem you're out of stock! It wasn't an unreasonable request. Turnover seems high. The staff that remain are excellent and friendly, though. It's unfortunate, but I will avoid this location when possible. read more

I've been going to the SG in the Marina for a while and love it, and I've come to this location three times and while the space is beautiful, this location isn't great. I was invited to come during the soft launch and got a warm bowl, which was amazing and completely consistent with the experience I'd had at the Marina location. The subsequent two times I've come (ordered ahead via app), I've gotten home to find a super anemic salad that is barely a half-filled bowl. (Note, it's bowls are never fully packed--nor do I expect them to be, but both of my online orders were noticeably smaller portions than I've ever had at a SG). Once I accepted as a fluke, twice is a pattern. When salads are $15+, I don't expect to get skimped. Sadly, I'll be skipping this location and will just go when I'm near the MDR location. read more

I've been a customer of SG's since 2018 at various locations in SoCal. I was VERY excited about the new location opening in MB. I ordered through the SG app and picked up the order myself. When I got home and open the bowl the first thing I noticed was how small the portion was compared to what I get at the other locations. To make things even worse a small black bug literally crawled out of the bowl. I was disgusted and ended up throwing away my salad. South Bay now has a sweetgreen! Located at the Manhattan village mall next to the new Sunlife Smoothie shop on the outside area. If you haven't been to a sweetgreen, it's like the chipotle of salads - cold and warm options. You come in, order the pre-made bowl of your choice or customize your own! Go down the line, as they build your meal and pay at the end! Simple as that. There's indoor and outdoor seating available too. My favorite is the chicken pesto parmesan bowl - quinoa, spinach, Parmesan cheese, chicken, cherry tomatoes, spicy broccoli and breadcrumbs. The pesto and hot sauce seals the deal and is delicious! Favorite place to stop by for dinner after landing at LAX! It's about a 5-10 min drive from the airport and is a perfect "reset" meal especially after eating heavy on vacation. I got the guacamole greens bowl which is basically a salad with taco vibes - tortilla chips, avocado, chicken, etc. So good! I wish I had a sweetgreen closer to me - they make me like eating salad and being creative with it! Picked up a large catering order from here yesterday, and it was great. Every item was labeled, making it easy to distribute to my team. The online ordering system was also easy and intuitive. I had a Kale Caesar and it was incredible - fresh and filling. When I came in, the staff and environment were lively. Everyone had rave reviews, and I appreciated having a label on each item telling me when it would be best to consume it by. I also liked the eco-friendly packaging itself. Little annoying that takeout orders did not include utensils. I've been waiting to review this location since it just opened recently and I understand it takes new businesses time to get up to speed. This review is based on two visits over the past month. I'm sad to say I can't imagine I'll be returning here since both visits were very disappointing. My first salad was a chicken pesto parm that contained about 6 small pieces of slightly rubbery chicken that had virtually no flavor, served in a bowl that was barely half full of limp, almost wilted, spinach. I found two small pieces of broccoli that was anything but spicy. My second order was a Garden Cobb that also filled about 2/3 of the bowl and was generally void of blue cheese and almonds. I've had dozens of salads at other SG locations that were all very good, and I'm really surprised that the management here hasn't stepped up their game to serve a product that's at least as good as other locations in area. If you're going to charge $13 to $15 for salads, at least give the customer fresh ingredients in reasonable portions. read more
