I visited the Manhattan Beach location tonight. The service was AWFUL! The young lady that served me had a major attitude. Pooooooor customer service. When I was ready to pay the card machine was seemed a little different. I requested assistance. The girl gave herself a TIP.... Wth. I wasn't going to give her a tip due to her attitude. I asked for a bag for my salad and she rolled her eyes an begrudgingly handed a bag to me to bag my own salad. This is my second time visiting but a different person serviced me.They both had AWFUL attitudes. Maybe that is one of the job requirements...IJS. I WILL NEVER go back. I want to love sweetgreen and I order from here a lot but it's NEVER consistent. When your order is done right it's great but more than half the time it's missing an ingredient, bread or the portion size is way off. I got the sweet potatoes and the portion size was a joke. It was cold and soggy and looked like it's been sitting out all day and the employees didn't want to make more bc it was toward the end of day. I came to this location yesterday around the evening and let me say, every time I come here this place just seems a mess. There were only two ladies working the front which was clearly not enough and I feel that every time I come there's hardly any staff. It took them about ten to fifteen minutes to finally take my order which was ridiculous. I wasn't the only one who felt that way, everybody in line felt annoyed. I love Sweetgreen! I always go to the Marina and 3rd street location. The ingredients are always fresh and tasty. All of the Sweetgreens I go to are always cleanly as well. This was my first time at this location and my salad was great although I feel they could've added a little more of the items I asked for especially after I said I willing to pay extra for whatever. The only thing I didn't like was the attitude of the employee. As a paying customer I shouldn't feel like I'm annoying you for asking for more items nor should I have to hear your smart remarks/opinion about my order. I get the same thing every time the harvest bowl and more times than not I have gotten home and there isn't any goat cheese in my bowl. I just don't understand how they don't remember what is in the "popular" bowls. It's just upsetting because I worked a long shift and I have to debate going back and I rather not waste my gas. My wife and I decided to try Sweegreen out. The food was very good!! We will come back for sure! However, the reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the portion size. This place is very inconsistent. The food is actually tasty, but how many workers need to look at the customers and say they'll be right with us before someone actually comes to help. For the salads, the scoops are quite small so would it be a crime to at least give 3/4 scoops of the ingredients, after all the salads can run $15-$20 in the end. While she was making my salad she was talking to other guess and she wasn't paying attention at all too our order she was smiling at the other guest but didn't acknowledge us at all I never got this experience at all and we eat here very often. I let Chloe (Manger) know how bad Riley services was towards us very unpleasant not sure if it was because we were black and the other guests were not . DO NOT ORDER FROM THE APP! I'm so sad, I've loved Sweetgreen for years and was so excited to get one in the South Bay. The first time I 'visited' the south bay location I used the app to order. My food never came and their customer service team took forever to respond to me. I eventually got a refund but it took a ton of effort, I was starving, and their customer service was SO poor. I should have learned my lesson, but I attempted to use the app again to order food. Unbeknownst to me the app defaults to "pick-up" instead of delivery. So yes, I made a mistake (apparently there is fine print - which I didn't see - that says that once you place the order, they're not responsible). But, I would have hoped for at least semi-decent customer service, especially after my previous experience with them. I texted their CS team the moment after I hit send (mind you the store hasn't even opened yet and the pick-up time is more than an hour from now), but the CS rep offered no help and said I'm responsible and to read the fine print. DOUBLE STANDARDS from this place! Yikes! Now my money and a bunch of food were wasted - so sad! I will NEVER come here again. I've contacted them three times (HQ too) w/ only automated texts as replies. I even got a, "give us your feedback" text where I mentioned the plastic but again, no response. I worked as a server and a manager in the restaurant business for 10 years. A customer bites down onto moldy plastic you call/text/email them to make sure they are OK. To start off, I was pretty interested in this place! I work in healthcare and a lot of my coworkers mentioned it so this weekend I was out & about with my best friend we decided to give it a try. We both ordered the new seasonal salad of peach + goat cheese. We had everything on it with no substitutions or add-ons. It was okay to say the least. The portions of greens to toppings were fine but they added way too much mint in my bowl. The peaches were not sweet at all, in fact they were white peaches that had not ripened yet. The almonds, goat cheese, and dressing were good though. It was a different kind of salad for me despite already liking pieces of fruit in my salads. The dressing was nice, not too tangy for a vinaigrette but just enough. Also the worker mixed my salad up together when I told him not to??? The price for both were $13.50 and we each got a rosemary loaf of bread (which was SO GOOD!) but it was not worth a total of $33 in my opinion. Maybe I'll give this restaurant one more chance and order a custom made salad next time but I already know it'll end up costing more than $13.50. There were four tiny pieces of broccoli and the amount of chicken was so minimal. Also, the bowl didn't taste like how it was described in the description. The "chicken parm" salad was just boring chicken with pesto dressing. What part of that is chicken parmesean, I have no clue. I expected the chicken to be lightly breaded or something. For $45 for 2 salads I figured it would blow my socks off. The staff also don't clean the dining area. Nearly all the tables were covered in something.
