I love sweet greens. I always get the same thing. Which consists of 3 toppings due to allergies. On multiple occasions at lunch time they are out of one of them. I wouldn't mind but I can't eat many things. They still charged me $8 for lettuce tomatoes avocado and olive oil. In rush of lunch break you need to make sure you have enough food. Staff is great, not their fault. Just agitating. I shouldn't face to just settle for a $8 salad. Company needs to figure that issue out. read more

I have been so often, it is time to review. The staff is great. This place is busy at peak hours with local workers, so come early or late at lunch time to avoid the rush. I've always ordered their specials as opposed to create my own and they are all good. The higher calorie options seem tastier to me than the lower calorie options. They will deliver the salad dressing low, medium, or high, depending upon your preference. Their bread is good and free, but optional. The place is clean and bright and welcoming. read more

I used to love sweet green but their service sucks. One particular salad maker has a terrible attitude I specifically asked for light almonds and each time I go the salad maker grabs a handful of almonds and tosses them in my salad. Wtf??? I'm not going to argue with her another worker makes your salad with way too much dressing so your salad taste more like soup. read more

I went to Sweetgreen today for lunch with my family and ordered the Santorini salad with shrimp. When the salad makers were making my salad, I explained I was pregnant and I had them check if the feta was pasturized or not, since pregnant women cannot eat unpasturized cheeses. Upon hearing the feta wasn't pasturized, I requested goat cheese. When the girl went to put the cheese on my salad, I asked her, "so that's the goat cheese?" She said yes. I said, "that's the goat cheese?" again. And she affirmed it again. I sat down to eat the salad and found the shrimp tasting horribly of iodine and virtually inedible. I went to return it, explaining again that I was pregnant and was nervous that the shrimp would make me sick. They made me another salad, but then, when it was time to put the pasturized goat cheese on it, the man reached for another cheese. I said, "wait....is that the goat cheese?" he said, "yes." I said, "but the girl next to you put that cheese on it," pointing to what turned out to be unpasturized feta. He said, "that's feta." So this little girl working behind the counter, after swearing twice that she was putting pasturized goat cheese on my salad put feta on it anyway. She was just following the order of what went into that salad and it did not matter that I was pregnant. She was not going to be careful. She just didn't care. The reason that I tell this story is to tell you to beware of that particular Sweetgreen. If you have allergies, if you're pregnant, if you have sensitivities of any kind, beware. While some of the staff may be capable of following directions, others clearly are not and the ramifications of their actions may make you sick. I felt absolutely nauseated all day. Completely miserable. Avoid the shrimp while you're at it. They are NOT fresh. read more

I enjoy SweetGreen's salads whenever I'm in Georgetown, so I'm used to shelling out about $10 for a bowl of greens and meat. This new shop is about four times the size of the one in Georgetown, with seating all along the wall opposite the service counter. There are also some larger tables in the back of the store for big groups. I think I counted 11 people behind the counter. They were so packed in that they could only shuffle the salad mixing bowls to the next person, each placing one ingredient in the bowl. I'm going to chalk that up to some opening day logistics. Either that or SweetGreen is trying to single-handedly fix the unemployment problem in DC. I'm usually a big fan of the Bondi, but today I switched it up and got a derby cobb. somehow the hearts of palm still made it in, which is nice, b/c i like them. This is a great addition to the Capitol lunch options, but it won't make the cheap eats list. read more

I loved Sweet Green. I would have it atleast 3 times a week. Salads were amazing. The lines were fairly fast considering how many people were in line at the primetime of lunch. Although, recently, I haven't been happy with Sweet Green. Since the new year, they made some decisions that weren't great. The remodel was great. However it appears that they have changed their chicken. It appears to be fatty dark meat. It changed the taste of the salads in a bad way. Also, they had turnover in staff. The old staff was fast and friendly. The new staff is slow and miserable to be around. Maybe, I've been going on their off days, but it seems to be a trend. Due to the changes, I'll be going from 3 times a week to maybe once a month. read more

Salad was as great as always and the bread was better tonight. Not back to the old, delicious bread, but a happy medium between that and the awful bread they've had since the beginning of March. The staff here is great - friendly and efficient. read more

Rude and unfriendly staff. I love sweetgreen, but I won't go back to this location because the cashier was rude. I was caught off guard by their new "no cash" policy, and the cashier was obnoxious about it, with a condescending tone and rolling her eyes at my confusion. It was not busy when I was there-- no one else in line, no rush, no need to be rude. Wrote to the company to complain about this employee, and the reply indicated that they had mis-read my complaint letter (which was about the employee's abrasive attitude, not about the "no cash" policy). I'm really sad to leave a negative review for a company that I really, really like, except for this one experience and this one location. read more

Pretty good, although not as great as some hype would suggest. Sweetgreen is essentially a Chop't with frozen yogurt; simply a solid choice for a health(ier) lunch. I feel that their prices could stand to be a tad lower, though. read more

Have been to several other sweetgreen locations and they've been decent (pricey for what you actually get and not exactly great quality ingredients, but decent). This location on cap hill on the other is totally subpar. Just today I experienced stunningly rude service and completely unfresh vegetables- the beets were dry and had gray fuzz on them. Sadly, you would actually be better off going to the Cosi a block away for a salad (and that's really not saying much). If you want rude service, nasty looking ingredients, with an above average price tag then this is dining nirvana- otherwise, avoid it like a smelly sack of garbage. read more

LOML and I just finished a tour of Library of Congress and craved some lunch. A helpful woman at Info Desk suggested this delight. She gave us directions and soon we new we were on course when we saw the Capitol Hill lunch crowd streaming down Penn Ave with salads in hand. This restaurant is a terrific model executed with wonderful food. You have the choice to create your own or choose from a preset menu. LOML went with the Santorini (shrimp, feta, grapes, chick peas) and me with the Curry Gold (spinach, chicken, cukes, beets, cranberry's and almonds). Their motto is buy local and they serve everything fresh and with a cheery group of saladeers. This is exactly what we were looking for while touring DC, generous portions in an Eco friendly environment. We liked it so much we ate their twice....they could use a couple of tips regarding cleanliness in the dining area (wipe down the tables and chairs)...the food area appeared to be spotless. read more

Hmm...not won over yet. I am fan of Chopt'd and it seems like I just paid the same price at Sweet Green and got half the portion. Lettuce for $8...uhm, really! I waited about 25 mins and I am sure due to the hype and being new on the Hill that is why. I have always envisioned a salad bar like this and have been looking for one forever! Finally, on a spring visit to D.C., I was introduced to SweetGreen by my sister, who recently moved here this past fall. At first, I was upset because of the long walk from the Eastern Market metro, but that's because I wasn't aware of how amazing this place actually would be. I'm very picky about my vegetables, and usually when I go to a restaurant I can't order a salad because they never have the right mix of what I like. But here, there was literally EVERY salad ingredient I could think of, and I was able to make my salad from heaven. Seriously, this place is a vegetarian/vegan wonderland, and I hope hope hope they decide to open more locations on the West Coast! If not, I may just have to move here for the salads. :) Only slight drawback is the price (my salad came out to $11.00), but honestly the size is SO large it lasted me two filling meals. Wow...I make a mean salad at home, but this knocked it out of the park. Needed a quick lunch before a tour at the Capitol, and Sweetgreen delivered! I had the Kale Caesar Salad with Chicken--the parmesan crisps sent it over the top! My friend had the Hummus Tahina--again, huge success! The staff is friendly, the ingredients are fresh, and the dishes/silverware are biodegradable. I love the salad despite the high cost. My personal favorite dressing is the champagne vinaigrette. I wish they would bottle it. read more

Was a frequent customer...no more. The place has gotten very grungy and smelly for the likes of fresh veggies. I found a very large black roach like insect in the bottom of my salad bowl. It wasn't the protein or crunch I had ordered. While I got my $ back, the manager tried to give me an excuse that it's because they get the produce locally. Sorry, I think your restaurant needs a major cleansing. I should have heeded my husband's warning months ago when we went in for frozen yogurt and he noticed flies around the salad bar. Too bad, we could use a decent salad place on the Hill. I just wish the employees cared about keeping things clean. read more

SweetGreen has the absolute best salads for a fresh and healthy pick me up during the work day, or any day really. My favorite are by far the Santorini or the Guacamole Greens. Make sure to get a piece of their always warm land delicious wheat bread. This place is a must visit. read more

I am so happy that I found this place. I'm living in DC for a summer internship and I've been too busy to grocery shop which has left me with some not-so-healthy take-out options after work. Needless to say, I've been craving something healthy, hearty, and delicious that won't break the bank. I felt like I died and went to heaven when I found sweetgreen. They have a bunch of nutritious, filling, flavorful options using locally sourced ingredients. They have salads, soups, and grain bowls and they provide nutrition information and ingredients for everything they sell. I had the Spring Chicken seasonal salad which was awesome (and huge)! On top of that, the staff was super friendly, offered recommendations, told me about the free app/reward program and threw in a free drink because it was my first time into the store. I went around 5:30 before the dinner rush, but it's good to know I can also order ahead and grab my meal without standing in line. I have a feeling I'll be back A LOT this summer. read more
