Ambience is fine. Dark, lots of wood. Irish-like decor. Chalkboards and murals in the back room. Service is not respectable at all. Started with a doorman outside distracted by trying to vape with a girl off to the side. Cool. I reached for the door without any reason to believe (though I suspected) that he was the doorman and he aggressively shouts out "Yo" to stop me and check ID. Obnoxious. For the record this is 9pm on 1 Aug if management is checking this. I'm not trying to fight the midget doorman with an attitude so I let it go. Bear with me though. If it's just a guy chatting up a girl, then I'm also being dense and disrespectful if I ask and assume he's a doorman? Why am I punished for him slacking and being inattentive? But the poor attitude continues inside when one of the servers ignores me when I get up to order right after he took an order from someone else in our group, and he decides to walk away. I'm getting up because it's loud. Next, the same server decides to take my menu away for someone else when I'm looking at it. Food selection looked interesting and creative but I wasn't sticking around or spending any more money to find out. Also, a double Jameson and a single Jameson somehow came out to $58 before tip. At 14 for a single, even paying a full 2x for a double should be 42 before tax. Didn't even bother to argue because this is a scummy place anyway (the only showed me the total on the electronic card reader) but I bet you this is one of those places that charges you more for order whiskey neat, or something even more incompetent (if it was a mistake) or nefarious. They charge you more to do less work by not serving ice or they're acknowledging that having a drink with ice is worth less, presumably because they can give you a shorter pour and you won't notice. If it wasn't a birthday gathering, I'd have rallied the group to go somewhere else. I'm fine spending money for quality but you won't get that here. Obnoxious service. Not recommended. read more

I've been a patron of Swift Hibernian Lounge since 2009, well after its inception and just after I became of age to drink in the US. As I write this, it's 2026 and I seriously can't believe I haven't left a review for my favorite bar before. I had 2 birthday parties here some time ago, it was extremely easy to reserve a table - like a no brainer and this spot is easy to find and very close to the subway. I think I've been here well over 3 dozen times (36+ for those who can't do math), so there really is something about it that keeps me coming back. Is it the smell of their pub food that I rarely order? Is it because the staff is straight up from Ireland? Is it the Guinness? Back in my day, Simon would write my name on a bottle of red if I finished it myself just sitting there on some strange weekday afternoon when I lived on the block. Simon also gave me a birthday gift, a sturdy lock for my bike - I never forgot that - thanks Simon! I heard he works in midtown now. I'll also need to shout out Rob, wonder if he is still around. I've seen him around town even outside the bar and he always says hello but it's been a while. This is the best bar in all of Manhattan because they knew my name and took care of me in my 20's when I most needed it the most. For some reason I even saw the back of their offices, I kind of can't remember why. I wouldn't know about this pub if an old alcoholic didn't take me here when I was a young babe. The place was packed when we came in and we ended up standing since there were no open seats on an early Sunday night. I did get a Guinness and the technique was spot on and I thought it was poured very well where it is right behind Graces for best in Manhattan. I came here for a therapist meet and greet back in December 2025. And I didn't expect too much as far as food goes. I ordered a prosecco and the spicy lamb sandwich. I'd say my only qualm was that the wait for the food was long because it was super packed that day and it looked like there was only one server which is super understandable. But that lamb sandwich was DELICIOUS. They need to keep that on the menu. The pita bread it was on was nice, warm and soft. It wasn't spicy to me at all. We were at the New York Theater Workshop for a play and on our way back to my car, we decided to swing by the Swift Hibernian Lounge. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the place was buzzing with a nice crowd, all chatting nicely and not being rowdy. I really love the rustic and inviting feel of the interior decor. The bartender was super professional, making sure every drink was perfect. There's some outdoor seating, but we were so lucky to sit inside by the window, watching the world go by at the Swift. Swift Hibernian Lounge is an exceptional Irish pub located in the NOHO (north of Houston Street) neighborhood in New York. The owners make a point to say it's a place for the art of conversation for those in search of simple Irish hospitality. It reminded me of the Irish pubs I grew up around in Chicago (both Southside and Northside). Without knowing anything about the establishment, the friendly bartenders seemed like serious artists when it comes to pouring pints of Guinness. I am not an expert at the proper pour, but know there is the right or wrong way and right means patience. There were rows of Guinness settling on the bar at all times waiting to be finished for the perfect pour. Honestly, everyone we saw was simply that, perfect. One of the best pints of Guinness in town. The service is friendly and pretty prompt. The wooden decor make it an outstandingly cozy place to drink in the winter. I haven't been here to eat, but their menu looks good. Their selection of beer isn't massive but it's solid. Their cocktails are hella interesting (meaning good). We got the Irish pub martini and the Irish breakfast. They have some wine too but that's not what you're really coming here for. The whiskey,rye,scotch situation is quite sizeable. Swift was pretty fun, but there was nothing about it that really stuck out as compared to most of the other bars I went to while in NYC. They do have a large selection of lagers, so they do have that going for them, and I really liked a lot of the wall art that they had. The best sausage roll I've ever eaten...excellent quality sausage with a nicely flaky wrap - delicious! The corned beef was also excellent. This is a kind of place i wish was in my neighborhood. My husband, a friend of ours, and I went for lunch here this afternoon; our friend placed our (simple, uncomplicated) orders (he said that he was asked four times what we wanted!) for the three of us. My husband was given a double portion of his order but my own order never came at all! My husband and our friend said that their food was fine - and I'm sure that mine would've been too if it had ever arrived! (The bar area was crowded, but we were in the nearly empty dining room section.) This is a casual pub in Noho. They open early and stay open late. A lot of service industry come here. They are always pretty busy no matter what day you come. If your not white, this bar is amazing! As as 40 year old mom of 2, I wasn't expecting a crazy night at 6:30 PM. But suddenly I was that brown crazy person who wasn't allowed a drink. Suddenly I had been "over-served" despite being actual sober and the bartenders serving White patrons shots. Please note that I was the only none white patron at the bar. And, again, as as a 40 year brown mother of 2 at the bar. I spoke to the manager who stood by his bartender. I was sipping water for 1 hour and having a nice chat with another patron. When I was asked why they wouldn't serve me, I was told that I was yelling too much. Not sure if that was a knock for being a loud woman or a loud non-white person. Been in on a few occasions now, always opting to sit at the bar. I enjoy their Guinness pours here but if you are looking to treat yourself, get an Irish Coffee. It is phenomenal on a cold day and I think worth the $12. The food isn't anything to scoff at, either. I have tried both types of sliders- Reuben and Burger. Both were tasty! Nice snack to share or to have for yourself. Haven't been able to try the flatbreads yet (last time I was there, they were sold out?), but I hear good things. How have I lived in NYC for a decade and never found this gem of an Irish bar before? It's not your 'run of the mill' basic Irish pub - it's way more classy...in fact, IT IS AWESOME! I loved the ambiance and the selection of delicious cocktails, wines, and beers. The whole night was finished off perfectly with acoustic live music (Chris' band was AMAZING!!!). But the best part was the outstanding bartenders (Davy and Johnny), who served people efficiently and always with a smile and some craic! They were super welcoming and really looked after me.
