I've been a patron of Swift Hibernian Lounge since 2009, well after its inception and just after I became of age to drink in the US. As I write this, it's 2026 and I seriously can't believe I haven't left a review for my favorite bar before. I had 2 birthday parties here some time ago, it was extremely easy to reserve a table - like a no brainer and this spot is easy to find and very close to the subway. I think I've been here well over 3 dozen times (36+ for those who can't do math), so there really is something about it that keeps me coming back. Is it the smell of their pub food that I rarely order? Is it because the staff is straight up from Ireland? Is it the Guinness? Back in my day, Simon would write my name on a bottle of red if I finished it myself just sitting there on some strange weekday afternoon when I lived on the block. Simon also gave me a birthday gift, a sturdy lock for my bike - I never forgot that - thanks Simon! I heard he works in midtown now. I'll also need to shout out Rob, wonder if he is still around. I've seen him around town even outside the bar and he always says hello but it's been a while. This is the best bar in all of Manhattan because they knew my name and took care of me in my 20's when I most needed it the most. For some reason I even saw the back of their offices, I kind of can't remember why. I wouldn't know about this pub if an old alcoholic didn't take me here when I was a young babe. I did get a Guinness and the technique was spot on and I thought it was poured very well where it is right behind Graces for best in Manhattan. I came here for a therapist meet and greet back in December 2025. And I didn't expect too much as far as food goes. I ordered a prosecco and the spicy lamb sandwich. I'd say my only qualm was that the wait for the food was long because it was super packed that day and it looked like there was only one server which is super understandable. But that lamb sandwich was DELICIOUS. They need to keep that on the menu. The pita bread it was on was nice, warm and soft. It wasn't spicy to me at all. We were at the New York Theater Workshop for a play and on our way back to my car, we decided to swing by the Swift Hibernian Lounge. It was a Sunday afternoon, and the place was buzzing with a nice crowd, all chatting nicely and not being rowdy. I really love the rustic and inviting feel of the interior decor. The bartender was super professional, making sure every drink was perfect. There's some outdoor seating, but we were so lucky to sit inside by the window, watching the world go by at the Swift. Swift Hibernian Lounge is an exceptional Irish pub located in the NOHO (north of Houston Street) neighborhood in New York. NOHO sits right between West Village and East Village very close to Lower Manhattan Swift Hibernian is the perfect pub because it's as authentic in what they serve as the friendly environment they create. The owners make a point to say it's a place for the art of conversation for those in search of simple Irish hospitality. A stubborn holdout from the lure of television screens and other electronic distractions. From the moment we walked in, it oozed a friendly and almost family vibe. It reminded me of the Irish pubs I grew up around in Chicago (both Southside and Northside). Without knowing anything about the establishment, the friendly bartenders seemed like serious artists when it comes to pouring pints of Guinness. I am not an expert at the proper pour, but know there is the right or wrong way and right means patience. There were rows of Guinness settling on the bar at all times waiting to be finished for the perfect pour. Honestly, everyone we saw was simply that, perfect. Not sure how that's possible with that level of volume, but they're pros for sure, Slainte!!! Founders Danny McDonald and Mike Jewell set out to offer an exceptional range of beer styles, one of the finest selections of Irish whiskey in the city, and an attention to detail in pulling the perfect pint of Guinness. Well, mission accomplished. It's named after Jonathan Swift, a 17th & 18th century Irish patriot and writer. The bar is furnished with reclaimed church pews and a pulpit from Swift's own parish in Laracor, County Meath (just north of Dublin). One of the best pints of Guinness in town. The service is friendly and pretty prompt. The wooden decor make it an outstandingly cozy place to drink in the winter. I haven't been here to eat, but their menu looks good. Their selection of beer isn't massive but it's solid. Their cocktails are hella interesting (meaning good). We got the Irish pub martini and the Irish breakfast. They have some wine too but that's not what you're really coming here for. The whiskey,rye,scotch situation is quite sizeable. Friendly, comfortable pub with a nice selection of drafts, including a delicious cider from Shacksbury. Like a proper pub, it's conducive to conversation with cozy seating and no loud music or tv. Found it an easy place to enjoy. We had a really nice, relaxing time and will definitely work this pub into our rotation. read more

Swift was pretty fun, but there was nothing about it that really stuck out as compared to most of the other bars I went to while in NYC. They do have a large selection of lagers, so they do have that going for them, and I really liked a lot of the wall art that they had. This is a casual pub in Noho. They open early and stay open late. A lot of service industry come here. They are always pretty busy no matter what day you come. I haven't eaten here before but I have had their mulled wine in the winter time. The bartenders are nice and helpful and the location can't be beat. Definitely a place to grab a casual drink on a weeknight or during the day on the weekend. read more

The best sausage roll I've ever eaten...excellent quality sausage with a nicely flaky wrap - delicious! The corned beef was also excellent. This is a kind of place i wish was in my neighborhood. Came here for group happy hour. First off, why don't all Irish bars look this pretty? Man, oh man, this has to be the Halle Berry of pubs. Also, the whiskey-based drinks are unique and delicious. My husband, a friend of ours, and I went for lunch here this afternoon; our friend placed our (simple, uncomplicated) orders (he said that he was asked four times what we wanted!) for the three of us. My husband was given a double portion of his order but my own order never came at all! My husband and our friend said that their food was fine - and I'm sure that mine would've been too if it had ever arrived! (The bar area was crowded, but we were in the nearly empty dining room section.) As we were leaving, our friend told the waiter about what had happened - they refunded our money, which was a gracious thing to do. But they seriously need to step up their serving game! read more

One of your bartenders needs an attitude check the way she was talking to customers was outrageous, the short white stubby girl clearly had too much to handle that night.My friend had a beer on the bar and accidentally grabbed the wrong one she's goes and says " if your at a doctors office would you grab random stuff?" The pub grub here is DELICIOUS by any metric, but by bar food standards it's astronomical, better that anyone could expect. Came here to meet up with friends for drinks. They have a pretty good beer menu, with some unique draft beer offerings. It's not too hard to get service from the bartender. It gets pretty loud so somewhat hard to hear others talking. I'd swing by again if the opportunity presents itself. read more

If your not white, this bar is amazing! As as 40 year old mom of 2, I wasn't expecting a crazy night at 6:30 PM. But suddenly I was that brown crazy person who wasn't allowed a drink. Suddenly I had been "over-served" despite being actual sober and the bartenders serving White patrons shots. Please note that I was the only none white patron at the bar. And, again, as as a 40 year brown mother of 2 at the bar. I spoke to the manager who stood by his bartender. I was sipping water for 1 hour and having a nice chat with another patron. When I was asked why they wouldn't serve me, I was told that I was yelling too much. Not sure if that was a knock for being a loud woman or a loud non-white person. Please note that I was the only non white person at the bar. Not including the non white bar backs. So maybe I should have expected this treatment.... read more

How have I lived in NYC for a decade and never found this gem of an Irish bar before? It's not your 'run of the mill' basic Irish pub - it's way more classy...in fact, IT IS AWESOME! I loved the ambiance and the selection of delicious cocktails, wines, and beers. The whole night was finished off perfectly with acoustic live music (Chris' band was AMAZING!!!). But the best part was the outstanding bartenders (Davy and Johnny), who served people efficiently and always with a smile and some craic! They were super welcoming and really looked after me. Been in on a few occasions now, always opting to sit at the bar. I enjoy their Guinness pours here but if you are looking to treat yourself, get an Irish Coffee. It is phenomenal on a cold day and I think worth the $12. The food isn't anything to scoff at, either. I have tried both types of sliders- Reuben and Burger. Both were tasty! Nice snack to share or to have for yourself. Haven't been able to try the flatbreads yet (last time I was there, they were sold out?), but I hear good things. I've been coming here for months now. Great bar food and chill vibe. Unfortunately, an intoxicated customer, who's likely friends with the chubby Irish bartender named Rori, had picked a fight with one of my friends. The drunk individual placed his hand on my friends face and that's when verbal argument ensued. I helped to de-escalate the situation. The bouncers kicked the person out as they knew we didn't start any trouble. The person had been over served and should have been removed sooner. The bartender spoke with his white Irish friend outside, and somehow is convinced with his one sided story that we had started the problem. Moments later, the bartender (Rori) rushed back in and kicked us three out, shoving and spewing phrases such as "I don't want to see your faces ever again", " you want to be the tough guy right?". They have a great assortment of cocktails and liquor. The ambiance is great, the staff is helpful, and the volume is perfect. It's loud enough that you can comfortably talk and hear. read more
