    The Choco Weggli - delicious!

I stumbled upon this bakery at the farmers market outside of South Station in Boston - held every Tuesday and Thursday. I hadn't intended to purchase anything but was intregued because how often do you get to purchase Swiss baked goods in Boston? I'm recently from Wisconsin - home of New Glarus (Little Switzerland) and the 100-year old New Glarus Bakery, which I love love love and miss like crazy. So when I ran into Swissbakers at the market, I was thrilled. The gentelman running the stand was super friendly and incredibly helpful. While the prices are a little high, you do get what you pay for - treats that you can't source anywhere else, unless you make them yourselves. I bought some of the Choco Weggli's for the office. They are $1.35 each (reasonable!) and are made fresh daily from wheat flour, water, butter, milk powder, yeast, sea salt, organic sugar and chocolate chips. Like I expected, these rolls were sweet and delicious - not overly sweet with just the right density and smattering of chocolate chips. They also had "Animal Weggli's" for kids that were shaped as cute little animals. (These come without chocolate chips.) I bought the last one for a friend's daughter - it was shaped like a turtle. I wish I had taken a picture! If you're at the market, or in Reading, stop on by and take some of these babies home. You won't regret it! They also have some AMAZER-ING looking pretzels and pretzel rolls - you can bet your bottom dollar I'll be buying some of those next Thursday...

Their croissants taste so good. It's buttery, chewy, and flaky. I tried a choco weggli because everybody was talking about it but to be honest it tasted a bit dry to me. I also got a cup of hot cocoa and I think it was kinda diluted. Anyway I would love to come back to try their croissants.

Pure heaven. Get over the price - it is well worth the quality of their food and the natural ingredients they use.

Even though the price is a little high, the swiss bakery might have some of the best pastries that I have ever had.

Wtf Or why are out of certain muffins ? Any In the back on racks? Put a sign up displaying a simple check mark of available muffins? One visit the nasty one at Winchester told me they were out yet I saw the muffin on a rack not yet ready to put out front? So this was my first visit to this Wakefield location ... same issues and staff nasty here too but a bit better as more mature employee? I ordered 6 muffins and wanted 2 in a separate box as a gift to someone and the other 4 in a different box...she puts the two in a bag... A bag ruins the gift look, damages frosting in muffins... they will not put any less than muffins in a box? I'll pay for the dam extra box? Or maybe a smart owner would have a small 2 muffin box? Asked for Boston cream ... out of them .. same as last visit to Winchester location where they were out of many options... Then generate greater sales, The owner should hire a better manager of both locations and stick a dam name tag in display case for each muffin, train all employees in hospitality and importance to retain repeat customers? Owner probably now just mailing it in or letting the off spring to take or already took over ? Maybe sell just sell it off to a interested owner looking to expand, or Improve offerings , add high end croissants, pastries, quality cookies ... coffee and better options? Whatever... 4 years telling every visit to just put a f'n name tag in front of each muffin-so I don't need to ask.. especially for gluten free, nut free allergies conscience people... how about an ingredients sign for each muffin ? So I get a large Chip's Tip sub and a few pastries for snacks. The bill was steep for what I got but I thought it would be worth it for my son to try the sub. After getting it, we split the sub and ate it in the car. Let me tell you that this was not the same steak tip I remembered. It was so bad, we tossed it in the garbage at the gas station next door. The steak was very tough and hard to chew - almost like the tips had been cooked earlier and then reheated for my order. Everything just seemed greasy. We also did not enjoy the raspberry turnover or yellow cream cannoli's we got for dessert. Maybe it was us or maybe it was the food but I will never go there again. We are not food snobs by any stretch of the imagination, and I rarely will say anything bad about a restaurant experience but we ended up going to Augusta's which is just a little bit down the road, for chicken just to erase this experience from our mouths. I know a lot of people will swear by their steak tip subs and that is great but it's just not for me anymore.
