Switch Electric is the most professional and customer friendly that I've met since moving to the Seattle area. They were recommended by a neighbor. Their communication for the estimate was scheduled and Kory the estimator showed up on time and explained their work. The operations team scheduled my panel upgrade project and the crew of Seth and his teammate showed up that day, a little late, but they notified me that they had a crew meeting that morning. The guys jumped right into the project, they explained one issue and how they proposed to solve it. I liked it and approved the slight modification. They did their work, cleaned up after themselves and were professional and nice at the same time! As they left, I thought, I wish all contractors were like these guys :-) I didn't have time that day but later I went back to audit their work and had a question so I called the office and left a message over the weekend. Tyler called me to answer my question and explain an electrical concept that I hadn't run into in all my previous houses. This week, the Seattle City Inspector showed up. Around January 2021 I got quotes from ~5 different places to upgrade an electrical panel and Switch was actually the cheapest and did a good job. I appreciated that they also scheduled the main line shutoff with the utility company - another company had me do it on my own and coordinate the dates (obviously I eventually went with Switch instead). Several guys showed up exactly when scheduled and got the work done that day. I could've sworn I submitted this review soon after their service but it's more than a year later and here we are. The fourth time I've used Switch and could not be happier! Arrival time was 9:00 - 9:30, they sent me a text the day before to remind me of the appoitnment, then again about 1/2 before the team arrived letting me know they were on the way. They arrived at 9:15 the projected time was around 4-5 hours to install a charging station for my Tesla and they finshed up about 1:30 or 2:00 after they picked up and cleaned up. Impressed to to see apprentice Courtney was with Joe. I pay attention to these things .... He coached her not "told" her and when they ran into a little issue they problem soved together. Thanks for the girl power Switch. I won't even bother to call another electrican, don't know or really care if what they charged me could have been done any cheaper by someone else. The fact that they always answer their phone, are on time, charge me what they quote me, get the job done as promised and don't leave a mess is good enough for me. Excellent reputation backed up by excellent work and customer service! I've used Switch twice so far and will be using them moving forward for any electrical projects that might be in their scope. A couple of years ago they replaced our electrical panel. They were polite, professional and quite happy to answer all of my questions. The estimate/invoicing process was straightforward, itemized, and very transparent. This week, they repaired some electrical damage caused by a plumbing company that left me without electricity to half my kitchen (including the refrigerator and oven). Switch managed to squeeze me into their busy schedule and found a solution that fully repaired/replaced damaged wires, while avoiding needing to remove built-in cabinets or cutting into the drywall, by going into the crawlspace to re-route wires. I am so thankful for the work they did, and because of it, I'm able to have a working oven in time for Thanksgiving! Tyler and the Switch team are the best. They've done a lot of great work for us. 5 years ago they installed a 100A circuit for a pair of Tesla wall connectors (which also required them to upgrade us to 320A service). The chargers stopped working last week, and they came out for a diagnosis appointment two days later. They diagnosed an issue with loose connections that caused some melting at the junction box. They came out again the next business day and fixed the problem (new junction box and wiring) for no charge. They are a team that stands behind their work, and we will be loyal customers for a long time to come. read more

Two years ago they installed a 8kW solar array for us, and we haven't paid a penny for energy use since then; we even got a rebate from PUD. This summer they were back again to install a LG Chem resu10 battery backup.. Now we no longer fear power outages. Their install was so clean and neat, I am proud to show it off like a brand new car. Switch worked on my house in August 2020 but I haven't had time to leave them a review until now. We originally looked for an electrician to help us with ungrounded 2-prong outlets in my house. Switch was not the cheapest bid we got but we chose them because from the way the estimator, Daniel, explained the scope of work to us, we could tell they are very professional. On the day of the work, they found out that we would need a total rewire and they brought Tyler, the owner, out to talk to us. He apologized to us for the change in plan and explained why it would be safer to do a total rewire which we understood and agreed to. During the rewire of the house, Daniel and his team were always on-time, extremely professional, and excellent in their communication to us. At the end of the day, he would update me on what they had worked on and offered to also update my partner who was not home at the time so I would not have to do it. They were even ahead of their schedule and the work was performed within one week. They were also the only company that includes an inspection from the city on the work. Overall, we would hire Switch again for future work due to their professionalism, excellent work, and great communication. read more

Great scheduling when I had a tight timeframe to get an assessment of the amount of knob and tube wiring to be taken out and rewired before new attic insulation was installed in my old (1906) house, and then careful and considerate work from electricians Riley and Courtney, They did an amazing job over several long days to minimize the amount of holes that had to be drilled in my old lathe and plaster walls to snake the new wires through - and even those holes were very tiny. They were also very friendly and patient with my questions while they worked. My wife and I have been undergoing home improvements since the beginning of the year so we figured that we would get our upstairs living area wired with speakers and video. My wife scheduled a quote appointment with Tyler, although I was the one home when Tyler arrived. Tyler arrived on time and was friendly during his visit. Tyler was in and out within 15 minutes. During our 15 minutes, Tyler informed me that there would be some drywall damage in order to run all the wires behind the walls. Tyler also stated that attic access would be needed in order to perform their duties. Ok, not a problem at this point. Our quote was delivered in a timely manner via email. The price quoted was reasonable so we decided to book with Switch. So far so good. We scheduled Switch to come in the day after having our hardwood floors installed. This is the point where everything becomes convoluted. I am in the health insurance business and it would be inefficient on my part to presume that everybody knows/understands what a copay, deductible and coinsurance are. With that being said, I feel that Tyler was inefficient on his part for this job for a couple of reasons. 1. I didn't understand the size of the holes that were to be put in my drywall until the day of installation (qty 3 fist-sized holes). The actual electrician is the one who told me. I assumed, incorrectly, that the holes would be repaired after being made. Looking at the quote again, the fine print states that Switch does not repair drywall damage. The remedy to this problem would have been simple if Tyler stated something like "Drywall damage resulting in holes the size of fists will occur during our process. Unfortunately, Switch does not repair drywall damage but we'd be happy to refer you to so and so." Had this been the case, I would have scheduled a drywall appointment right after Switch's departure. 2. Tyler told me that access to the attic would be needed. Since my wife crawls into the attic with no problems I thought access was readily available; however, during the installation I was asked by the electrician to remove all of my clothes from my closet. Had I been prepared for this I wouldn't be so irritated. The remedy to this problem would have been simple if Tyler stated something like "We will need access to your attic and you may want to clear out your closet to avoid falling debris." My closet would have been cleared out before their arrival had that been the case. 3. There seemed to be a disconnect between Tyler and the electricians regarding the actual job. When I asked the electrician about the HDMI and coaxial cables, the electrician pulled up his email quote and stated that the job was only for speaker wires. I then had to pull up our quote from Tyler clearly showing that HDMI and coaxial cables were apart of the job. I felt this miscommunication irritated the installer; however I wanted what I was quoted and paying for. 4. During the installation process, one of the electricians left to grab material to repair a hole that he put in my bathroom wall from within the attic. When I inquired about this to the electrician that stayed behind I was told "We accidentally put a hole in your bathroom but it looks like the paint is already peeling anyway. We'll patch it" As I stated in the beginning of this review, we have been undergoing home improvements since the beginning of the year and our bathroom is next in line. Regardless of whether or not we were planning on remodeling our bathroom or not, the flippant statement of our peeling paint was not needed nor appreciated. The remedy to this problem would have been simple if something was stated like "We apologize for putting a hole in your bathroom wall and we will do our best to patch the hole." Actually, two holes were put in our bathroom wall, with only one hole being patched. 5. Upon the crews departure, I asked for a referral to a drywall repair company and I was told that I would be emailed the contact information. Installation was completed 2/25/2016 and I did not receive a drywall contact until 2/27/2016 after sending an email stating our unfavorable experience with Switch. With the quick email quote and correspondence between us and Switch, I found this oversight to be extremely irritating. It would have been nice to get drywall repair on the books as soon as possible. 6. Our first time to sit down and watch TV since installation was 2/27/2016. While watching TV the voices were muffled and we couldn't understand why. We tested our surround sound speakers only to find out that our center speaker was not wired, creating the muffled voices. After climbing up to the speaker we were astonished to see the red wire hanging freely about. Of course it's a Saturday when we noticed this and Switch happened to be closed. My wife sent her unhappy email at this point and wired the speaker herself. Switch, may I suggest that you improve on how to anticipate your clients needs? read more

Switch Electric Home Energy is a great company to work with -- everyone from Tyler, to the scheduling office, to the onsite installers (Brett and team) were professional, communicative, friendly, and extremely courteous. We worked with Switch on a 9 kWh system and from the design/concept to build, everyone was quick, efficient, and sharp problem solvers. I found Tyler to be very responsive and informative, and really worked with me as a partner -- listening to my concerns, addressing them, and working to find the best solution possible. On top of that, their pricing is very transparent and fair. I got a couple of other bids from A&R Solar and Tesla, and both of the quotes/teams lacked the specificity and transparency that Tyler operated with.  When it came to the actual installation of our SunPower panels, the team was quick, communicative, and did good work. You can tell they truly care about what they do and the craft of their work. For instance, our house is three stories tall and it's nearly impossible to see the panels from the street level, yet the team worked to make sure the layout actually looked really good. Details re where / how to run conduit to roof penetrations to even where to place their ladders/equipment -- everything was handled with care. We needed to add a 50 amp outlet and two 30 amp outlets for our new induction cooktop, speed oven and convection oven. The job was a bit more complicated since the wirings needed to be routed from the circuit breaker box to outside wall of our house, through crawl space and up the walls behind the cabinets and under the island. We had 5 bids and while Switch Electric wasn't the cheapest, they were very competitive. Most importantly, we really appreciated estimator Kory who explained the job scope and answered our questions without being aggressive. We also really appreciated the three young electricians who came out to do the job, Riley, Cody and Cortney. They were very polite, efficient and professional. They worked almost all day and cleaned everything as if they were never here. We are both retired retentive engineers and their completed work far exceeded our expectations. Hi everyone reading this. I had mold in my home coming from a damaged window on south side of my home. It almost killed me. It took 14 months from reporting it to get it fixed by HOA. We first had Joseph come out to give a bid on a Generator. He was very friendly and tried his best to work with us to get a generator. Unfortunately the cost was way too high because of the situation in how our house was set. But he tried his best to come up with a solution which I really appreciated. But it was just too much because we had to install new gas lines. Yesterday we had a electritian named Danny come out to do a complete electrical inspection. He was very informative, patient, and all around good guy. He let me know what needed to be done, what could be done, and what was unnecessary. A vast difference from another company we tried where they wanted to charge an exorbitant amount for every little thing. This was not the case with Switch. Not only was it a good price for the inspection but I had a burned out switch on one of my lights that just occurred during the inspection. Danny didn't hesitate and fixed it for me. It took him all but 2 min to do it and he did it as a courtesy. These are the kind of little things that a lot of places like this forget. They are more concerned about padding the bill instead of genuine customer service. That is why they don't get repeat business. I WILL BE USING THIS COMPANY FOR ALL MY ELECTRICAL NEEDS. LOVED working with Switch Electric. Bought our unfinished house in December 2016 and promptly lost power to the upstairs. Switch was by far the most comprehensive when quoting and on the lower end of the specturum on pricing. They sent a crew out to help us get power ASAP (our oil furnance also ran out of oil upon moving in so we desperately needed electricity to heat our house!). After that emergency, we used them again in 2019 to finish our basement. Again, quick replies, thorough quotes, and good pricing. Having had LOTS of contractors come through, I appreciated their professionalism when it came to interacting with me & my family, taking breaks, and showing up on time. I never felt awkward or rushed or unsure of what they were up to and I really appreciated that. They also offered design advice when it came to how many lights and where and locations for switches. Some contractors refused to give opinions and while I understand, I also just needed some guidance on what was "normal" for a house layout. In between these big jobs, we've called them out multiple times to troubleshoot finicky behavior (like when I accidentally cut a circut or when a fuse blew) and appreciated the response to a project that wasn't going to net them any income but was all about following through on previous jobs. read more

I couldn't be happier with the work that Tyler and all his team have done at my place. They did better than perfect, they did exactly what I wanted! I got some photovoltaic panels + Enphase batteries + span smart breaker installed by Switch Electric, and the process was super smooth from the quoting, up until after the installation. First, the quote I received had a very good price. Without any negotiation, it was already the cheapest out of all the companies that bid on the project. Even better than that, the technologies were the best ones of all the quotes. So it was a no brainer and I decided to pull the trigger. We did work back and forth on the quote a few times, because I was undecided, and every time it was very clear, and very fast to get an update. Then when the team arrived on site, they saw right away that I would be really picky about everything: from the positions of the equipment, to whether the wire would be in-wall or visible, I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted. When there were a few possibilities to do one thing, they knew to ask me for what I wanted, and I had the opportunity to give my input every time. I had my first 24h outage a few weeks after my installation was done, and it held up perfectly fine! The system had a little quirk (that Enphase fixed by software update really quickly), and Tyler himself stopped by my place to make sure that everything was working as expected.
