I was very pleased with the work that Switch did for me. They gave me an estimate based on pictures I sent them and were able to set an appointment for the following week. The electrician showed up just when they said he would and started work right away. (I was having a level 2 charger hardwired in the garage.) The work was neatly done and quickly finished. The scheduler person followed up a couple of days later to arrange for the inspection, which was completed with no problems. The cost was slightly more than the estimate, but that was because the inspection was more expensive than they estimated. The bill for their work was exactly what they said it would be. The on site crews were extremely courteous, professional and focused on quality workmanship. The team at the office (from bid to payment) were really friendly. They were reasonably priced. Four years ago Switch electric installed solar panel for me. It was an expensive project and I went with then because they had the cheapest bid and I felt they were very honest and transparent in how they worked. I took a chance and was happy I did. The installation went very well and throughout the engagement they were both professional and reasonable. Even when there was some churn because of the city inspection they were right there to help get through. I continue be appreciative of the work Switch Electric does. I recently had Switch Electric do some major projects at my house. They installed a Generac backup generator and upgraded the service at my home from a 100amps to 200amps. This was a project months in the making. The communications between us was on point. They were always willing to talk to me and hear new ideas. The project itself took 2 days of work and let me tell you, these guys were on it. I was expecting to be without power for most of those 2 days while they worked but credit to the lead technician, Bryant, who made sure we had power for all day 2. I was very nervous about extensive drywall damage but Bryant and his team did everything they could to minimize damage to the drywall. I spent like $600 having the damaged drywall fixed and repainted. That's how little the damage was. Funniest part of the story is that the day Switch completed the installation of the backup generator at my house, a wind storm hit Bellevue and we briefly lost power but it was nothing for us because the generator automatically kicked in within 10 seconds of losing power. Overall, I give Switch 10 out of 10 for their professionalism, technical acumen, communication and customer support. Shout out to the main lady who runs the front office. These are a bunch of incompetent boobs here. My wife and I ordered a Generac backup generator. It is to ensure I have power for my medical needs. After 9 hours not only is the generator not functional, but these morons left us with no heat pump, no tankless hot water heater and no working gas fireplace. Generac may make great generators but get anyone but Switch to install it. Do not let them near your electrical circuit box. Oh, since I had to leave, at 4, they did insist I pay them. My wife discovered all the stuff left incomplete and unaccomplished after the 5 boobs left. Don't expect they'll ask for the remaining $500 with what they've done. Still I've paid $8000 for NOTHING. We have used Switch Electric for 3 different home projects now - 2 times to install new lighting and most recently a total house rewire. Each experience has been stellar and I can't recommend them enough. Tyler, who does the estimates, always had great recommendations based on what we were looking for and each of the teams that have come out to do the work have been really nice, hard working, and get the job done in a timely manner. I'll speak mainly to Joe and his team that just did the rewire (including a full panel upgrade) - they completed everything in 3 days, didn't bat an eye at any of the changes we requested (and were very transparent about how that would change the cost), and helped us brainstorm/provide options on different lighting options/placement/etc. to ensure we were happy. I have spent months trying to find an electrical company to perform a couple of residential projects...but it's been ridiculous how hard this has been! Most companies told me they either couldn't do a smaller project because they were too booked with commercial construction OR that they have closed their residential service department entirely due to those commercial demands. Had Switch rewire my house, removing the remaining knob and tube from a few rooms and hallways (and adding some recessed lighting and a doorbell). I got a few estimates, and Switch was the most thorough and surprisingly the lowest cost. Given that and a recommendation from a coworker, they were the obvious choice to move forward with. Alex (who also did the estimate) was the lead for my project, and was able to quickly squeeze me into their busy schedule between larger jobs. As others have mentioned, Alex's communication was top notch. Every day he'd message their arrival time and hours. Before making major decisions (e.g. moving or adding a fixture) he'd confirm the placement was acceptable to me. He and his crew were happy to explain things to satisfy my curiosity or when they encountered difficulties. They worked around an awkward parking situation with my house without complaint. They cleaned up well and made it surprisingly possible to live in the house during the work. In short, they were simply pleasant to work with. Turns out my job was a harder than expected one - they underestimated the difficulty and it ended up taking almost 4 full days rather than 3. But they kept to their original estimate (and more importantly didn't abandon my job even though they had squeezed me in!), and as a result I'm thrilled at the work, price, and speed. A very minor nitpick just to show this is an honest review - we unexpectedly had no hot water for a night due a misassumption about our water heater. The last item to go into our dream house was the chandelier. After picking a beautiful chandelier to finish our entry, we needed an experienced and trusted electrician to help hang it and hook it up. We called other electricians and their prices were much higher as they tried to sell us expensive ceiling reinforcements that weren't needed. Switch Electric said only if additional support was required, they would charge. Switch Electric was always on-time to set appointment times; none of this "between 8-12" stuff. I rewired my whole house with Joe and his team. They've been fantastic, professional, and punctual throughout the whole process, even working around problems caused by a different general contractor who messed up their wiring. I especially appreciated Joe's recommendations: a motion sensor light in our pantry, caseta smart lights, good spots to put outlets, usb outlets in bedrooms. He's also been great if anything changes - we originally hired switch to just rewire our house/upgrade panel but Switch adapted seamlessly to additionally wiring our basement into an ADU. Super happy with hiring Joe & his team from Switch Electric to do the knob-and-tube rewiring of my 3-story 1926 home in Seattle. They brought the same level of service and quality and "swarm of white vans" as the other premium Seattle companies. But at 5-10% lower price. [still higher than the single-shingle electricians but not by much] Details - Speed: Brought 6 electricians to finish the bulk in 4 days as soon as I closed on my purchase. - Responsiveness: Texted or called back within minutes. - Advice: Joe in particular gave a lot of advice on what I *should* do on the re-wiring, not just what was the minimum. Wiring for a Ring doorbell, rearranging order of switches, 40A instead of 30A for future heat pump, etc. - Respectful: As a non-traditional remodeler, I sometimes feel contractors are talking down to me; not with Joe and team. - Easy Paperwork: All digital. - ONE CON There were definitely a bunch of minor "punch list" items the first week, e.g. a defective Siemens circuit kept tripping refrigerator and had to be swapped. I found him to be knowledgeable and friendly, and worked with him to scope some other items (some while he was here, and others over email with pictures). In our three bedrooms, Switch Electric installed new electrical ceiling boxes, appropriate controls, and ceiling fans (with lights). We also had them convert three outlets from being switched to unswitched. Also, in one room, we had them add a dimmer and a track lighting ceiling box. (We then installed the track lighting ourselves.) Additionally, per Redmond electrical code, then install arc-fault protection. The work required working in the attics. We supplied the fan/lights (from Seattle Lighting in Bellevue). They charged no dispatch fee and were in the middle on price compared to two other estimates. They were also the only one to include the legally required Redmond electrical inspection. On the workday, they arrived with a team of three in the morning. Their work was professional and neat. We noticed two small problems caused by miscommunications. They cheerfully come back for an hour and fixed the problems. The work passed Redmond inspectional easily. We love the fans and the lights and highly recommend Switch Electric. read more

The 2 Switch employees were great. They were on time and completed the requested work in one day. They were neat and clean, polite (and liked our dog, who was excited to meet new people) saved all of the drywall cutouts so they could easily be replaced (after the L and I inspection) and scheduled the inspection for us. Their work was very good and the inspection passed without any issues. The office folks were great, too. They handled scheduling the estimate, the contract/payment details and scheduling the appointment for the actual work. Email communication was excellent, including after hours follow up when the inspector never showed up or contacted us on a Friday for the inspection. They rescheduled the inspection again for the following Monday and the inspector showed up this time and called prior to arriving. We would definitely use them again, and plan to. read more

Absolutely the best electricians! A year ago, I had six contractors bid on a service panel upgrade, relocation, and solar. I wasn't aware of Switch at that time and hired a contractor that turned out to be horrible and didn't complete the job (you can see the ugly details if you follow my reviews/posts). Needing to get the job completed, while keeping the project in-budget (since I already lost money with the other contractor) and finding a contractor that restored my faith in the industry - I discovered Switch Electric. They are extremely knowledgeable about solar/electrical AND how to work with the various power companies (who hold the key for a successful project). Their customer service is top notch, and they are very reliable in their scheduling of appointments. In the future, I plan to expand my solar array and will call on them first (let alone if I have any smaller projects). I wish I knew about Switch a year ago. Had to follow up to get remaining work done. I later learned there was a major problem they failed to inform me of. There were invoicing issues. We used Switch 5 years ago to update all of our electrical when we bought our home and we had a good experience with Tyler. They might have outgrown some of that customer service because when I called today about 2 outlets overheating the person I talked with started by telling me they charge a $275 service charge just to come out and that they are busy until the end of the month. That seemed high to have a couple of outlets looked at but more than that, they just didn't seem that interested in the call. I usually only give good reviews but this felt like a big disappointment because we really liked Tyler and we've been recommending Switch for 5 years. Such a bummer. We had a problem with outdoor lighting that was originally installed 30+ years ago. We have used Switch for several projects previously (extensive remodeling and installation and maintenance of a auxiliary generator). We have been so pleased with Switch performance that we didn't hesitate to contract them for our outdoor lighting problem. The Switch estimator visited and carefully inspected all four stations of outdoor lighting. He listened as we described what changes we wanted. He outlined several different courses of action. We chose one. The next day we got the specifications and cost, and we have the "go ahead". The installation team arrived several weeks later and installed the new lighting fixtures with little, if any, visible signiture of the new wiring that was required.
