Checked out this spot to do some studying, it is super cute and there's plenty of seating. I ordered a lavender oat milk latte and the avocado toast - they did not disappoint my tastebuds, it was absolutely delicious. It is pricier than other places I've been to (why I knocked one star off). While I was there it was extremely smoky from the cooking and no doors were cracked for ventilation. The smoke burned my eyes making it hard to really focus on work which is why I knocked another star off. I'll have to go back again to see if that's the norm, or if it's because they were doing some painting/maintenance the day I went. Other than that, if you're not a baller on a budget and want to treat yo'self, and want a good cup of coffee and amazing avo toast - I recommend this place, if you don't mind the cooking smoke, seating inside is cute otherwise outdoor seating is nice too. read more

My second time here. I put it in the feed again because it deserves it. Fantastic vegan and gluten-free bakery options. Roast their own coffee. Thursday is roasting day Melie told me while Malorie was making my awesome quad shot vanilla with oat milk. Emily was in the background working on what I could only assume was making a delicious snack for a customer. It smelled delightful here. I had a good experience the first time and after the gang at @buildingthreecoffee suggested I revisit, I had a really great experience. This was one of the places my sister brought me a few years ago to prove things were getting better here as far as acceptance and tolerance. There is a sign on the wall stating all are welcome here. As someone who was afraid to move back due to intolerance, I felt down right loved! I will be back no doubt and send as many people here as I can. read more

Stopped in today for the first time for a relaxing Sunday morning with my wife. We both had cappucinos which tasted fantastic but could have been a little bit hotter. The food was awesome too. I had the breakfast sandwich and my wife had the avocado toast. I'd recommend both but the avocado toast took the show. Will be returning! read more

I got the "fifty fifty iced coffee," which has cold brew coffee, milk, and brown sugar. It was a pleasant and refreshing drink that wasn't too sweet or too strong. My friend got the same thing, but with oat milk, which made the drink too sweet for me when I took a sip of it. We also shared a warmed up raspberry oat bar which was delicious! It was a perfect combination of sweet and tart / soft and chewy. It's a casual, cute place to relax and chat. We sat in sort of like a nook area. It was nice because it provided a bit of privacy. And I loved the white walls and the greenery around us! I have a hard time remembering to take pictures of food and drinks before they're devoured... so I only have an after picture haha. Great place for working for a few hours! Free parking nearby and good breakfast/ brunch options. The Guatemala pourover was quickly poured and there were only two plugs that worked. Anyways I had heard about this place and I needed some espresso beans so thought I'd make a detour and stop by on my ride today. Bought some beans and had an espresso shot. Very nice place. Came here while visiting Colorado Springs. I only tried the iced coffee, but it was pretty good. And I'm a guy that loves him some iced coffee. The avocado toast was a big meh for me, but the quiche was pretty good. I was all set to give this place 3 stars, but the quiche bumped me to three. This is the best coffee shop in the springs in my opinion! Very cute location and the vibe inside is relaxed yet social! I have not had their food yet but I have had their iced lattes and matcha! Both are really good. I am someone who is very picky about my coffee and they do it right every time. The baristas are also very friendly and quick! Love this place. We live nearby and have come a few times a week since they were called 50/50 coffee. Super bummed about their food customer service and menu changes though... hence the 3 stars. We used to get their breakfast sandwich multiple times a week (and know so many others who loved it too). They sadly axed it for more expensive breakfast fare. I get it, increase margin and offer an "elevated" cafe menu...etc. the problem is my 2 year old who used to wake up and say "can we go to switchback for a breakfast sandwich?"and a lot of people (like vegetarians) don't want prime rib on a breakfast sandwich. We rarely eat here anymore because of the changes. The food is still good but it's just not what we want. They aren't hurting for business obviously so it's very challenging for management to probably see the negative effects on customer retention thus far. But as consumers feel more and more squeezed they may begin to miss their regulars who helped build their business. This morning I asked for a bagel and a side egg and cheese to make my own sandwich as we really were craving it. Props to the staff for staying true to their boss's strict orders but it's pretty crazy when a place offers bagels and other items that come with an egg and cheese and they can't make it happen for a regular. Please bring back that sandwich or loosen your guidelines. At the very least have a secret locals menu so you can upcharge the tourists still. read more

I absolutely love Switchback Roaster's newest location! As a coffee lover growing up in the Springs, I've heard about their beans but had yet to try them! The visit was lovely, and the newest location (opened about 2 weeks ago) is easily accessible & a few minutes from Memorial Park. I love the openness of the seating inside, and it also has a wonderful patio. Bonus: easy parking! I ordered a cortado, iced vanilla latte, and a grilled veggie sandwich. The Columbia espresso in the cortado had the perfect flavor/strength, the latte being the right amount of sweet/refreshing, and the veggies tasted like it was on a grilled cheese. All were delicious! I also wanted to take a moment and show my appreciation for the friendly service & education provided by the barista. He taught me about different roasting styles across city coffee shops! I'm thankful for this coffee shop, and look forward to coming back soon! read more

As always, the coffee is fantastic. However, they have tried to go "upscale" on their menu offerings and justify higher food prices with decorative presentation. Here is a message for Switchback's owners: go back to serving your avocado toast the original way on a bed of herb sauce. Stop the squirts or lines of red pepper sauce across the plate and stop serving herb sauce in a little cup..."on the side." Your current offering is a huge letdown. Thanks. read more

This is my husband and I's favorite coffee shop in town! We wish we lived right next store....though that would also be bad because we would blow our bank account on coffee and (delicious) food way too often! We love the roasts that we have tried and love the design of the bags they come in, they look so fresh on our counter! I love the Fifty-Fifty, it is my favorite sweet coffee drink in town! The atmosphere is usually perfect for studying, catching up with a friend, or having a full meal with multiple people! The employees have never failed to be fun and sweet making us want to get to know them more! Love it! A very quaint coffee shop in the middle of a nice neighborhood. Plenty of spaced out seating inside and out. This place really knows how make a pumpkin latte. The iced honey latte is my new favorite latte. We're from Oklahoma, but I always choose local coffee shops to visit every day while traveling. I will go here again for that latte which I rarely do. The customer service was fantastic. The ambiance was lovely. I have three young kids and I can often feel people's frustrations of them being with me in certain places, coffee shops most especially, but they weren't ignored or looked at like a nuisance. Most delicious espresso you'll find in Springs, and though I wouldn't call the place cheap, I'm paying about $4+ for an espresso in San Francisco now, so $3 is (alas, these days) reasonable. The food's a little heavy for me. Half a scone is plenty if you want to be able to walk out the door, and the ham on the breakfast sandwich is really what I'd call pork. Really good pork, but pork. Also, parking on the street is not difficult here and is plenty. Service and staff: The staff working here might be the friendliest I have ever met at any coffee shop before. They are very accommodating and helpful in choosing coffees or eats. They also gave my mother a free bag of decaf coffee beans for supporting their business. They are so nice and definitely care and go the extra mile! Coffee: They have an impressive assortment of coffee that is sure to suit anyone's coffee mood for the day. They are all delicious. Interior: This coffee shop is very well-suited for studying/working, which is always important to me when finding a coffee shop gem. On the same token, Switchback is also very well-suited for just sitting and enjoying the coffee or meeting with others or even a group here. The interior is very strategically laid out, and I appreciate it. Whenever I'm in Colorado Springs and need some good coffee or need to go study/work at a coffee shop, I will definitely be heading here. read more

This will hands down be my go-to favorite coffee shop in the Springs. They have iced matcha lattes with oat milk, and that's really what I require. The inside is crisp and beautiful and they have a great outside area to sit, many places in shade. The barristers are so cool and friendly as well. This place definitely has chill yet just the right amount of bougie-hipster vibes. There is street parking, which at around 3pm on a Sunday was super easy to find. It's a bit out of the way of busy downtown, so you get out of the chaos of Tejon, etc. I also want to try their coffee latte with oat milk. Anything with oat milk is delicious. Edit: The Brown Sugar Iced Latte with Oat Milk is the most beautiful tasting libation. It is tastes like a coffee cream candy. I am not supposed to drink caffeine because I have chronic insomnia, but I wanted to try it and it was worth it. read more

BEST cafe experience I've had in a long time! I got the honey lavender latte with oat milk and the milk was perfectly steamed. Great balance of sweetened flavor, creaminess and espresso. Also got the avocado toast with fried egg-- seriously heavenly. Whatever slightly sweet/spicy sauce they add elevated the flavor profile so much. With the tomatoes, too? Chef's kiss. Came here with 4 adults and 4 kids. The service was excellent, it was larger than I thought inside. I got the wild berry toast with feta and mint, the lavender decaf cappuccino, my mom got the avocado egg toast and hot chocolate, my dad got coffee, my husband got a chocolate croissant pastry, my kids all got the yogurt and granola bowls. Everything was delicious!! They even brought little kids cups to the table when my mom Ordered hot chocolate near the end of our visit.
