The hours don't appear to be accurate on Yelp. I called for takeout, couldn't get an answer on the phone, so drove to the location. Front door sign said "Closed Sunday." Yelp, when this was posted, said Syd's is open from noon to 9 pm. Been coming here 20 years, and usually for the same burger and a beer occasionally. The atmosphere depends on which side of the swinging doors you sit on, as the bar area is in the front of the building and the family area is in the back. There's also an area upstairs that has a great secluded feel as you perch over and look down on the bar. It's a neighborhood place, not fancy, well worn chairs and booths, but that's the draw for me. Fried pickles are always a great start and you'll find the normal fair of Midwest food to include the tenderloin sandwich and several choices of burgers. Best part is no smoking in the dining area so that's a big plus on bringing the kids. read more

The staff here are the kindest and most compassionate people I have ever encountered. My family came in today and we had a bit of an emergency situation while there, and the entire restaurant pitched in to help. I have cried tears of thanks the entire day. There is a special place in my heart for Amber and her entire team. As we did not get to eat our meal, they boxed it up for us and we ate when we got home- the BLT was absolutely delicious, as was the catfish sandwich, chicken fingers and club sandwich, but the best was the chicken salad and potato salad. I believe the window says Syd's Fine Food. And that's accurate. It's...fine. Nothing to write home about. Nothing to get upset about. It's just...okay. After seeing the Yelp reviews, I was admittedly apprehensive and went safe with my order. A club sandwich. Hard to mess up and usually tasty. It was good. I'd have it again. Friends got the fish and shrimp dinner...left a lot of fish on the plate but said the shrimp was good. Service is lacking. The server was great but it seemed like she was stretched thin among a lot of tables. Wasn't weird for us to go 10-15 minutes without seeing her. Overall, it was okay. I really enjoyed this divey, small town, local bar. It was everything that I could have asked for on a rainy Saturday. The food was good, the beer was cold, and the people were friendly. Nobody was playing on the shuffleboard table while we were there, but it is a cool, prominent feature of the bar. The music was good, and it is also nice having the Touch Tunes option. The beer was ice cold, and not expensive at all. I think we got the Tall size and it was not more than $5-6, maybe not even that much. We ordered the fried pickles and the Tenderloin to split. Trust me, that is plenty of food for two people. The tenderloin, as others have described, is massive! It is literally bigger than your head. It was really good, and I loved the fried pickles. I was instantly charmed with the the old-fashioned neon sign they had out front (wish I had a shot of it), it really makes the place look like a joint! We walked in and it smells exactly like you'd expect a true dive bar to smell! You know, stale beer and just a hint of very old smoke that lingers from back in the day when people still smoked at bars? I mean that in a totally complimentary way! I loved it. It's nice, dark and cool inside. The bar keep was super friendly and came over to greet us straight away - full of suggestions and warmth. Now for the food! We had to have the "award-winning Cream of Chicken Soup," 4 out of 5 stars. Tastes homemade with big chunks of tender, hand-cut carrots and shredded chicken. Creamy as you'd like! The nachos were pretty good, too. Nothing spectacular, but still very good and hit the spot! We also had the acclaimed Fried Pickles. I love fried pickles. These were different than I'd had before. Rather than dill pickles these were sliced hamburger pickles. It was nice to have something a little different. They serve them with a creamy, spicy mustard. Had a nice lazy lunch and enjoyed ourselves very much! Just go in expecting an actual dive bar that's been around forever, not a contrived and curated idea-of-a-dive-bar place. Cheap beer, always a good crowd, and of course fine food. The renovations look great, in particular the "howdy bub" whiskey lounge upstairs.

We were out of town from Chicago looking for a good time. We decided to stop in syds for a quick drink, to our surprise it was open mic !! We sat at the bar, Lauren was amazing ! Top of the line service, so much fun to talk to and really made us feel at home ! Would definitely go back just to hang out at the bar with her ! I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to where we live. This place was SO expensive for bar food. $9 for fried pickles? Texas Roadhouse doesn't even charge that much. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with honey mustard sauce. Good chicken and ham and sauce. The fries were fresh and hot. The onion rings are the tempura battered kind and good. The ambience is about as traditional as it gets, and it is incongruous with Noblesville and how Noblesville portrays itself. That said, it would fit in just fine in just about any other town in the state, which makes it special in Noblesville. Not a good place for a date on weekends due to the noise. This place is the epitome of dive bar, and that is EXACTLY what makes it so charming. Low lights, loud people, sports on TV and several "regulars" to keep you up to date on the latest happenings. There is a quiet dining room in the back, so it's a great little place for lunch too. The food is honestly pretty amazing for bar food. You know this is a good place to come when after you travel 900 plus miles you go an additional 12 miles to eat at Syd's! I kept hearing about this awesome pork tenderloin sandwich from my boyfriend. So when we were in Fishers in July we came here. And he was right. In all my travels I have never seen such a huge sandwich. Tender, lightly breaded goodness with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. Enough to share and still have leftovers Bring a crowd so you can try the loaded steak fries, chicken tenders, crisp salads and don't forget to have a couple local brews while you are here The service is friendly and always with a smile. Unfortunately my husband and I both said our Syd's Days are over. Last night we went for a drink and dinner and the food was pretty bad and it took forever for it to come out. One of the guests with us ordered and the waitress advised her against that item. She picked something else. The waitress returned to say that new items is out - they had returned it to the vendor. Once all food made it to the table it was cold or burnt (like still frozen beans on top of nachos) and wings that were burnt chicken tenders soaked in buffalo sauce. We aren't usually one to complain or write a review. We hope they figure it out before others have the same experience we did. read more

I know I live in Indiana, but still have to complain about the smoking. That said, I've been to Syd's a couple times, once for lunch & once for a late dinner & drinks. The food is exactly what you would expect (bar food), but at least the times I was there, I would consider it above average bar food. Loved the shuffleboard that takes up most of the main bar area, though you kind of feel like you are playing in Conseco since it is surrounded by the tables & bar stools. Great staff. I never had to wait for a beer. One word of caution, if you are not from the area, be very careful, or sober, if you plan to drive away from this bar. If not, you'll be able to stop by again real soon since the courthouse is basically across the street. read more

We have always walked by this place when walking around downtown Noblesville. There is a historical sign on the building saying it has been a bar for a long time. We first walked in the front door but unfortunately had to go out and to the side door because we had 2 in our party under 21. We wished there would have been a sign on the front door telling us that the family entrance or under 21 entrance was on the side. The main bar we originally walked into looked like a neat place that I would want to hang out and have a drink. The 'family area' was not as appealing. It seemed like a 'back family area' with old chairs and time was not spent on the appeal like it was in the front. Those are the only complaints that I have. The service was great. They were very friendly and made us feel at home. The food was great! We had an appetizer which was delicious. The breaded tenderloin was great! We would go back just for that! They know how to make a top shelf long island which is not always the case. :) We would absolutely go back even with kids. We would even go back without individuals under 21 so we can experience the front of the restaurant! read more

A recent trip through the Heartland of Indiana was interesting. Traveling along Interstate 65 is a wasteland of fragmented sections of truck tires lining the highway that rarely and infrequently gets cleaned up. OK "I feel better now". Noblesville Indiana is quintessential small town USA. Courthouse Square is the downtown focal point. The Vintage Courthouse Building dominates your attention while the surrounding square offers many retail options, all of which are well supported by locals by my observation. This brings me to Syd's. I was thirsty and eager to support the local economy as well. The building itself has historical significance as a perpetual drinking establishment for decades. Very Cool! The point is, I was here all of 10 minutes! I arrive at 12:15. A lunch time crowd packed the tables and booths. The bar was lined with liquid lunch participants, all with plastic disposable cups, an immediate red flag! Syd's had an old upright cylinder style vintage beer cooler. Old school all the way. However every bottled beer choice requested was warm. The cooler works hard everyday, however someone needs to stock it accordingly! The bartender, apparently requiring some guidance, was abruptly reminded by management not to use disposable cups to avoid washing glasses.. Too funny and too obvious! This is an old vintage bar that is equally appreciated by locals as a gathering for food and drink. Upon departure I finally realized why the bartender gave me a funny look when I asked for a frosted mug to go with my warm beer! read more

I had the "maybe" best in the state tenderloin and it was bad. Cardboard dredged in flour and deep fried would have been juicier and more flavorful. Pounding out a piece of pork so that it will cover a plate does not make it good. Also try cleaning your deep fryers once in a while. The oil was old. The cream of chicken soup is pretty weak. I'm a sucker for a good dive bar, and Syd's certainly fits the bill. I'm not a drinker (odd for one who frequents bars,eh?) but they seem to have a pretty good selection of beer and the bartenders seem to know their stuff on mixed drinks. No health food here, of course, but it's all tasty and well prepared. The vibe is very friendly. Obviously a lot of regulars in here, but if you're from out of town you'll be made to feel just as welcome. They do have entertainment, such as Karaoke, some nights of the week. read more

I understand that this is a bar that serves food. But if you are going to serve food, you have a responsibility to provide customer service and stand behind the food you serve. I ordered an appetizer and a drink. Had to remind 3 of the staff of my drink order. My appetizer showed up before my drink. I then ordered a hamburger to be cooked MR-M when it showed up it was charred on both sides and beyond W. Took two bites and couldn't eat anymore. No waitstaff showed up to inquires how the food was. Mind you this is at 5:30 and place had plenty of seats so it wasn't like they were busy. Server showed up to deliver the bill and then noticed I hadn't eaten my hamburger. Then inquired as to why and I responded. Sorry was all I got out of her. When my bill came I still got charged for sh$# food. Won't go back there!!! read more
