We were in Noblesville for the chocolate walk and by the time it was done we were hungry for some real food. We decided to eat at Syd's since it was right there and looked interesting. It looks like a bar on the outside, but has a lot of seating in the back that seemed more familyish. I assume kids can go, but it was after 9 at this point, so too late for families. The front area had the bar and a super long game table. It was kind of cool to see people playing on it. I always forget the name. I got the award winning creamy chicken soup and it was really good. I can for sure see why it is award winning. It was just the right mix of chicken and veggies. It was so creamy and tasty. I would for sure get this again if we were in the area. My husband got the tenderloin and it was HUGE. But I stole a bite and it wasn't good. it just didn't have much flavor. He said it wasn't the best he had ever had and said he wouldn't get it again. If we were in the area I might stop back in for that soup alone! But I am not sure we'd drive out of the way to go eat here again. Our waitress was great and the food came very quickly. Syd's has been located in downtown Noblesville for as long as I can remember. The food is not bad, just depends on the day you go. Some days your tenderloin sandwich is fantastic. Other days it's over cooked along with your onion rings. Hit or miss here. read more

Pros: Occasionally they have a competent, friendly waitress. Cons: It's a shame this place isn't better because it's so close to us. The worst thing by far is the pricing - this place is SUPER EXPENSIVE for bar food and beers. I seriously can't believe people say that one can eat there for under $10 a person - I have no idea what they order because the two of us can't get out of there for under $30 - it's usually around $35 just for two sandwiches and two beers - it's ridiculous. We have eaten there several times and both of us have gotten sick almost every time. Service is usually VERY slow and they can't seem to keep staff members for longer than 5 minutes. read more

How can you not love Hamilton County's longest operating bar under a single owner. This is the farthest thing from a Fishers or Carmel chain style restaurant that you can find. Syd's is a classic local place that is owned, operated and largely patronized by locals. The food is far better than the same ole "bar food" you'll get elsewhere. Syd's actually makes their food. You HAVE to love Syd's...you just have to. Not liking anything there is unacceptable. It's a great little dive bar & grill in downtown Noblesville adjacent to the judicial center. It's full a rich history, friendly faces, good food and fair prices! I frequent Syds for lunch and it's always spot on. We came for Huggy Bear's karaoke which was good! But why is he in the bar and not the restaurant section! If 10 groups show up, all tables in the bar are taken. This bar may be 20 feet wide with a row of tables along the wall, a table shuffle board in the walkway, and a full bar attended by 2 people on Saturday night. This is definitely a DIVE bar. 3 people serving the entire bar and restaurant area. If you sit in the bar, you have to battle everyone else for bartender attention. The waitress refuses assistance. And even when she delivers food, she brings little else. We ordered wings and received wings and plates only. Luckily, we were close to napkins, but unfortunately utensils were stored elsewhere and we were forced to eat with our fingers. read more

Syd's is 100% a dive bar. Do not go in with high expectations. Not that your experience will be awful, but it is just a simple dive bar in the Midwest, so it really isn't anything to write home about. The food is decent bar food. A tad overpriced, but it was good. It's just a chill place to relax. The only negative in my experience is that I told the waitress I wanted an appetizer for myself, and she did not inform me that it is portioned for 3-4 people. Nor did it state that on the menu. So I had the Chicken fingers and my mother had gotten the burger. First off this was a bar so I was not expecting the greatest food but the presentation of the dishes was nice, it looked like yummy bar food. But taste on the other hand, yuck! My chicken was so dry and under-seasoned that I felt I could only enjoy this bland food if I was drunk! This must be why they are a good bar. My fries I had ordered were COLD when I got them ! I've been to Syd's a few times. It's a great local gathering place, and they have karaoke on Tuesday nights, which is a lot of fun! We stopped in for lunch. I had the half turkey sandwich served on toast, and side salad. The turkey is smoked, which is a nice touch. The side salad was pretty basic - nothing special. This place is absolutely legit--a local hangout with lots of history and a small town vibe. Nice long bar. The well-used shuffleboard table stretches the length of the room. TVs hang from every nook and cranny. You can tell there's been plenty of good times had here. And the food? Fantastic! Although it's standard bar fare, the execution is spot on. I had the fried catfish sandwich with a side of fries. The fries got the job done, but the catfish, that was a something special. The fish tasted like it had been caught to order, breaded by angels, and then fried to perfection. Seriously. Hot, crispy, flavorful, and not at all greasy. Whoever is running that fryer should open a school for running fryers. As far as the beer list goes, the draft selection is decent and I ordered a Triton IPA. It was cold and came out quick and hit the spot. They also have a 24 oz. option that looked mighty tempting as the waitress dealt them to the tables around me. Maybe next time. I wish that I can be kinder....having lived down the street and grown up in town. But....the fact is....the food is bad. Maybe just stick to a burger or tenderloins ....I had the ribeye. It came with the whitest salad I have ever seen in my life. Included the butt...for added appeal I suppose. Steak is mealy and fatty with nuked green beans and rice that could have been last week. Prices I guess are ok.....but..overall...just kind of sad here. Stick to booze and shuffle board. Will give a shout out to Ryan the server. This place is awesome. They have the best atmosphere out of all the bars in the area this one is very much my favorite. It's as if they plucked it straight out of the 70's and added some modern flair. The bartenders are very friendly and very skilled. I arrived at Syd's after a hearing at the courthouse across the road so that my team could discuss strategy. First, this is what one might euphemistically call a "dive bar," wreaking of smoke. Second, I was treated very rudely by the wait staff when I attempted to order a drink. The waitress literally attempted to pry my ID from my hand. I opted to find another place to meet. I recommend you do the same. I ended up at the Copper Still across the square, where I was treated very well. Ahhh... Syd's. This is definitely a Noblesville staple that has been around for ages and ages. You just never know what you'll be walking into when you go to Syd's. For example, my boyfriend was craving a burger and fries so we stopped in on Sunday early evening. They weren't crowded but a majority of the folks there were fairly well blitzed and though they were all sitting at separate tables, they all joined in on a medley of sex jokes! There will be other nights where it's mostly older folks just out to enjoy dinner. The front section of Syd's is the bar area but there are tables for dining as well. The back of the restaurant is for family dining. While they boast "fine foods," don't get too excited. The menu is decent sized but it's your average bar food. Sandwiches do not come with sides! They do have a veggie buger, yay! The tenderloin seems very popular and someone in my group (or two!) will always order it when we are here. The fried pickles and waffle fries are awesome! Drinks are reasonably priced. Service is hot or miss. This is a dive but it's always a good time. Be open to anything when you go! read more

The only way you can enjoy experience here is if you're a regular and a local. I have family in the area as I live out of state and decided to check this place out. Since the bartenders didn't know me they were not friendly or welcoming. Even though we had a table no one ever came over to check on us or clear our table. I LOVE this bar. I love the jukebox, the bartenders, the waittresses, the obnoxious karaoke, the people-watching. I miss some of the old ambiance before they remodeled inside, but oh well. I have never had the guts to play shuffleboard, but it's quite a sight to see. It is the smokiest bar in town. On a Saturday night - go early if smoke bothers you. Seriously, if smoke bothers you a lot, go on a week night. Food - gotta go with the fried pickles or breaded tenderloin (as big as the plate, but a little bland - I add salt/pepper.)
