Croissant

A vast collection of enchanting items and tasty treats. Jams, jellies, cookies, a variety of sauces (some hot, some not), vinegar, olive oils, cheese and so on. If you like exotic mustards, like I do, you'll love the assortment they carry. They have a cozy little deli, A little pricey but worth it. You must check out the downstairs wine cellar. Looking for a Birthday or Christmas gift, this is a perfect point of inspiration. 5/23

Yummy local and unusual mustard options

We have been past this shop multiple times but it is always so full that we skip it, but after reading a few reviews and visiting it ourselves I can now see why...and is worth braving the crowds to go inside! Once in you see how it is the older store of years ago with fun wall to ceiling shelves piled with all kinds of delectable options. They have sauces, jams, pastas, chocolates, dry goods and a whole assortment of hard to find items. It was a delight to spend some time looking through the shelves. The store is on the small side so the aisles are narrow but you do want to peruse each one to see all the amazing items. They have a great menu as well as some seating outside if you choose to stay onsite to eat. It is also great for grabbing something to take to a local park or on your walk around. They have a lot of hot and cold options so something for everyone! I liked that they had both local and international items so we could try new things or favorites. Very fun spot to check out and use for the muse for your next cooking experience.

I grew up going to Symons General store. I think I had my first croissant here and would frequently stop by for them after my orthodontist appointments . Now, when I'm home visiting, I stop by for a sandwich or cheese and to roam the aisles of this nostalgic store. I love their Italian sandwich on a wrap- highly recommend. I recently got a breakfast sandwich but was so disappointed, it was cold in the middle (specifically the sausage) so I threw it out. The only reason I'm still giving 4 stars is because I've never had this happen to me in the 15 m+ years I've been going here, it usually serves high quality food and has great service. I thinks this is a unique place, check it out if you're in the Petoskey area!

Lake Street Sanger - sub cheddar cheese for swiss and add avocado

Yum!! Had a delicious breakfast sandwich before leaving my trip to Petoskey. It was the Lake Street Sanger sub cheddar and add avocado. The store was very cute inside and had lots of local and yummy items for purchase, as well as a wine cellar in the basement. The service was great, staff was friendly and helpful and the sandwich took about 10 min to make as it was a busier morning. Great shop!

The BEST veggie wrap I've ever had. My husband had several different turkey sandwiches and they were all excellent.

People stopped on the street to compliment my delicious looking sandwich. And it was delicious. Go to this place.

It was warm, delicious, very tasty , a bit spicy and served on a really good soft bun with crispy edges. Perfectly cooked the sandwiches are served with orange slices , which is a nice break from chips or fries ! They have numerous coffe and matcha drinks hotv& cold. I tried the cold match blackberry lemonade and it was good and my hubby had the matcha raspberry latte and he really liked his. You know it's a great place when you unexpectedly run into the bride eating there the morning after her wedding!!! The only thing keeping me from giving this restaurant 5 stars ( because the food quality IS there !) is the bathroom situation. There's a very tiny sing men's and women's with a sink to wash hands inbetween. I didn't mind the " closet bathroom stall - I minded the dirty floor and the fact that when I went to wash my hands in the shared sink outside the stall in between the bathrooms , barely any soap dispenses! I went under 4 x just to get enough soap to get the buffalo sauce off of my hands. This is concerning because it makes you wonder if the cooks are bothering to try to get any soap on their hands ?! . Roast and Toast : *Clean the bathroom floors and get a new soap dispenser and I bet you'll get the stars and reviews your food deserves !

Because the place was populated (but not crowded) and my order was simple (a matcha and cranberry chicken salad) Filling my order was a lay-up. The drink came in a timely fashion but my sandwich was nowhere to be found. Add to that I was sitting in the very visible window seat, by myself...a fact made more obvious by the fact that no one was near me and I'm a black dude in a very white restaurant (basically making me even more obvious). Now to be clear: I DO NOT think this was racially motivated, I DO think , however, it was due to inattentive staff. Personally I'm also not a fan of having to go get my food when they call my name, ESPECIALLY if the drink and the food come out at different times. Too much up and down for me. Cute place but I was disappointed...which bums me out because I really WANTED to like this place. This will probably be my only time here (as I am just passing through) and, sadly, this was the impression I was left with.

Terrible, rude service! We were told less than 1/2 hour wait for sandwiches. An older lady (who…read moreseemed like the owner or manager given the way she was barking orders to the staff and treating customers) said it in a snarky nasty tone. We said ok no problem. She had to add that it was sometimes a 1-1.5 hour wait so we should be happy. Some people (apparently locals) walked in and got their sandwiches right away. After 45 minutes, we asked and it turned out they stuck our order in a bucket at the back of the line and had not even started it. They claimed they would put the order at the front of the line and it would take 15 more minutes, even though they were new customers walking in and it was less than a 15 minute wait. We asked if they could make them faster. The young man apologized nicely but the older lady owner/manager stepped in and said rudely that's all they could do. She did not apologize let alone offer us a discount for their mistake. We understand they were busy and people make mistakes but there is no excuse for treating customers so rudely after their clear error. We planned on spending over $100 but apparently our money was not good enough for them. This was 4th of July week so I was wearing a USA t shirt and we are convinced this is why they "lost" our order and treated us so poorly. Avoid this place at all costs especially if you love America!

THE. MOST. DELICIOUS. PASTRIES. EVER…read more On our roadtrip, we stopped at the Crooked Tree looking for a local coffee shop. What greeted us was the most delightful case of pastries and loaves of breads. This is a bakery with no seating. Looks to be a large operation that might deliver breads and baked goods locally. There is a bread case, a pastry case, and lots of merch. A very patient young lady was working the counter on the morning we stopped. It took me a while to decide because I wanted one of everything, but had no business doing that! She patiently and quietly waited. Finally, I settled on a ham and cheese croissant and a cherry and white chocolate scone. My husband had a raspberry danish. I did get a drip coffee in the end. The ham and cheese croissant was crisp and flaky with the perfect balance of hame and gruyere. I have not had a scone this good. Ever. Not even in Ireland! If you "do not like scones," these are worth the try! We snacked on the pastries in the car so along with Lake Michigan sand, my car now has lots of flakes of our delicious pastries. Like sand, it's impossible not to leave remnants of the goodness behind. Tip: if you are not local, buy more than you need!! I wish I had.
