We were greeted immediately upon our arrival, with the gentlemen being very helpful in our selections. The coffee was very good. As I the prefer more savory side, I had the Couve Club waffle which has a slice of havarti cheese, very thinly sliced turkey, thin slightly crispy bacon and a dollop of raspberry preserves atop. Wow. Just WOW! Every bite of this was absolutely delightful. The only slight preparation modification I would have liked would be to have the cheese a bit more melted. My companion had the JG2, which comes with a generous amount of fresh blueberries, heavy drizzle of lemon curd and real whipped cream. I was told this was very good. The dining area isn't huge and it got a wee bit loud as more parties came in, but they were playing great music that wasn't too loud and they helped a bit. There was significant road work being done outside, with the road completely closed off, but we parked around the corner and walked over and I'm so glad we weren't scared off by the street issues; it was worth a little effort to have this really delicious breakfast.

Visited here for the first time on a sunny Saturday morning around 9am. I would definitely recommend getting here early since the restaurant filled up quickly after we ordered. Lots of families with little kiddos and couples and friends catching up over some yummy fluffy waffles. It was a little smokey in there when we were there and they actually don't have a bathroom in the building they are in but the friendly staff took the time to walk me next door and gave me the ladle key to access the bathroom in the adjacent building. You order at the counter and when I ordered the small hot chocolate I was asked if this was for a child and if so they are able to make it less hot and put it in a cup with lid. What a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated by this toddler mom! My friend and I and my toddler ordered the Audrey (goat cheese, honey, walnut), the Mojo Jojo (Nutella, banana, whipped cream), and I got the original waffle with whipped cream as well. The Belgian Liege waffles were crispy and fluffy but just dense enough to fill you up! I loved the suggested combos but you can also build your own too! (Although I did think $3 for a few pieces of strawberry were a little steep as a topping) but I think their suggested combos are the way to go. I even brought the original waffle home and it was just ask good toasted the next morning with my own toppings. This was a nice treat on a weekend morning. Go enjoy some sweet or savory waffles!

Delicious and authentic liege waffles with the perfect balance of sweet and crispy outside and soft on the inside. We tried the second breakfast, the Van Clucky, and the Mojo Jojo. We ordered two lattes as well which complemented the waffles. The interior is cute and very clean. Service was quick and friendly. We will visit again.

Syrup Trap is a cozy and cute breakfast spot. We went at 9:30am on a Sunday morning, so seating was a bit limited, but the service was fast. I got the JG2 waffle and loved the lemon curd and fresh blueberries as my topping, however I wasn't too impressed with the waffle itself. It was decent, but it was much more dense than other liege waffles I've tried. My boyfriend got the Elvis waffle and enjoyed it, while also agreeing the waffle texture wasn't his favorite.

I'm giving this place five stars for service! They employees are so welcoming and helpful. I had a nice conversation with the person at the register and there is a great vibe in the restaurant. I wish the seating was laid out differently to make it feel less cramped into the small space. Nonetheless though they've got the theme down perfectly! The waffles were super crispy, I notice normally the waffles from other spots I've had are more fluffy. Definitely come down and try these waffles, just keep that in mind if you like a more fluffy waffle!

We needed to stop somewhere for a quick bite and decided on Syrup Trap this morning. This was actually my second time here, but a first for my husband. He loves anything sweet for breakfast so I figured he would like some of the menu items here. When we got there, it was about 1pm or so. There were 3 different tables of other customers when we arrived. Not that busy. We ordered a sandwich and a plate of waffles with Nutella. My husband loved the mojo jojo and devoured all of it. My sandwich was just okay. The waffle was really dry and overcooked in my opinion. It was not that soft when I was biting in to the sandwich. Establishment was cute and small. It's a buss your own table type of place located in downtown Vancouver so it's all street parking.

Try the Swason Sammy...egg, ummy bacon, sausage, havarti cheese in a waffle. I put Organic syrup on mine delicious!

Food service ambiance all plus! Coffee is done right! I'll be back for more... I had this pop-up while I was leaving the comment here, in order to leave a comment on yelp you need to have at least 85 characters to leave a review.

Stopped in about 10 minutes after opening on a Sunday morning. Only two tables were occupied, so it was a perfect time to visit without a line. The inside is small with only a few tables and bar seating in the window. There were a few bistro tables outside the entrance as well. You order at the counter, they bring you your food, then buss your table when finished. They also have a complimentary water and creamer station for convenience. After reviewing the menu, we decided on the Swanson Sammy ($11.75) and The Original with strawberries, bananas, and nutella ($11.75). My husband also ordered a 12 oz drip coffee ($3.25) with free refills. The guy at the counter let us know it would be a few minutes for the waffles because the irons were still heating up. We didn't think a 'few minutes' was too long, so we agreed; however, a few minutes actually meant 20 minutes. The wait was much longer than we anticipated, but the waffles were well worth the wait! They were nice and crispy on the outside and sweeter than normal waffles. We didn't need or order any syrup. My husband thought next time he may order the syrup with the sandwich because it was a little dry. Mine was perfect! I may opt for whipped cream with the berries next time. I would definitely order the same thing. Overall, we enjoyed our first visit and look forward to trying other menu options. Would recommend!

Update from my original review - I'm not sure when they changed this, but they now have syrup dispensers on all the tables, so you can have syrup on your waffle at no additional cost. Yay! Everything else from my previous review still stands, and I'm so glad they gave a gluten-free waffle option. I only wish they had a bigger location with more seating. Many times when we've wanted to come here they are packed with no open seats, so we end up going elsewhere. I'm glad they are doing so well!

If you love waffles, this is a must visit in downtown Vancouver! The space is modern, bright and clean with very friendly and efficient staff. They have Liege-style waffled which are the perfect blend of crispy and chewy, without being heavy. I had the "Audrey" with honey, hazelnuts and goat cheese plus the suggested sliced strawberries. Delicious! We'll be back! read more

My boyfriend was nervous to try this place, but I dragged him anyway and it was worth it. The Monte Carlo is absolutely delicious and exactly what I wanted, but apparently unexpected for him. We have been three times now, he loves it just as much as I do! He even tried to convince his brother to try it out. The Chai Tea Lattes are good but nothing to write home about. read more

This place was so cute! I just got the original waffle because it was pretty cheap and I just wanted to try it out. I loved the Leslie Knope touches like the WiFi password. I noticed that!! I absolutely love this little coffee shop - waffle house. They had maybe only six or eight items on their menu. We ordered the goat cheese and nun( hazel nut?) and honey waffle, and the bacon maple waffle. Both were remarkably delicious. The coffee was perfectly made as well. My coffee had an extra shot at it, but it was barely noticeable. It's obvious that they take pride in what they produce. I would easily suggest this to anyone looking for a quaint brunch location. The only two setbacks are that the bathroom is located around the outside of the building and you need an employee to walk you there to use it and the black tea was made very... Differently than expected. It wasn't bad, but it was not average black tea . possibly specify that it's not a typical black tea. I will say that once the staff realized that we were unhappy with the tea, they replaced it with a free coffee. read more

Incredible. The customer service was great, the atmosphere is nice and aesthetically pleasing. It's a bit small so it can get busy but totally worth it & it's still enjoyable!! The options for waffles are simple yet totally gourmet. They combine flavors together that are just beautiful. Also they have a waffle named Leslie Knope which made me die and go to heaven. I love parks and rec. also they serve relevant coffee and it was really good as per usual! Oh and the waffles were very filling and worth the price! read more

We arrived around 830am, immediately greeted, only 5 other customers at the time, we placed our order and was told it would take an additional ten minutes as they were waiting for their oven to heat up..no problem with that. We ordered coffee w/cream & sugar - wasn't delivered until our food came and only after he asked for it (they forgot the cream/sugar). I had a Pumpkin Pie cappuccino which was very good! Waffles came and were barely warm, seemed they were taken from the freezer. I don't consider myself as someone who is hard to please but given the ratings we saw on here we wanted to give it a go and sadly were disappointed. read more

Hard to decide which breakfast to have this morning then we decided to visit and try Syrup trap. We had their Mojo Jojo and the original (for me and my daughter to share) their waffle is made out of dough, it is thick and has some of crunch texture. This is the best place for anyone who loves sweet breakfast or snack in late afternoon! read more

Went here today with my family for an afternoon meal. We ordered a mix of flavored waffles, both sweet and savory, along with a mix of drinks. We sat outside, the waffles brought to us when ready. Overall, the food left us feeling satisfied but not oversaturated in our decadence. We enjoyed it all. My daughter said that these were the best waffles she's ever had! Nice little breakfast place in downtown. Not a ton of seating but there was enough on the Friday morning that I went. A fun little are for the kids to play was setup along one wall which was nice. I was able to get a table right by there and wait for our breakfast so my daughter could play. Kept her busy while we waited. Waffles were very good with fresh strawberries and whip cream. Great liege waffles with unique twists! The space is really cute too, if not a bit cramped. They have only a few waffles and are a bit spendy compared to other Vancouver/Portland specialty spots, but their add ons are awesome and the taste is phenomenal. Love the creative names, too! read more

The wife and I stopped in for breakfast before a hike this morning and were very happy we did. This is a different style of waffle than we had ever had before and were excited. First, we realized that you don't really need syrup with this style of waffle as there is sugar crystals inside the batter, but a little syrup is great on them as well. The only complaint we had was that the strawberries on my wife's waffle still weren't quite in season so they weren't great, but other than that everything was great and will definitely be back for more. read more

It was so great to have a place that looked great be even better. Everything about this place was 5 stars. It's gorgeous in here as soon as you walk in. From the black/gold antiqued chairs to the extra tall dark baseboard trim, I love how they made it modern but didn't lose the heritage of the building. We ordered after got super polite and helpful recommendations and they were spot on. We got a savory and a sweet waffle and they were deeeelicious! As we were eating we noticed that this is a popular spot for nearby professionals. Some were recognized when they came in and it really made it feel that much warmer inside and gave it a great sense of community. Even the Doordash driver had great rapport with them and said they were excited to come back with their spouse. This place is beautiful. The food and service are fantastic. What really sets this place apart are the people that work here and how they interact with their community to create a culture that is hard to find. read more

Wow, this isn't your typical "American" waffle. This scrumptious delight is fit for the palate of royalty! Before your knife and fork get anywhere near this beauty, waifs up from the plate this warm yeasty aroma of homemade bread, yet better as there's no labor involved., Then as you cut through the crisp crust comes hints of vanilla and slight caramel notes, and when it hits your taste buds it's confirmed, all in one bite the flavors meld with a soft yet substantial chew, bursts of sweetness throughout your palate. It's truly hard to swallow as you don't want the experience to come to an end. Alas, there is more on your plate, until there is not and you almost order another waffle. Then your head clears and you reason, another day, another waffle. Yes, yes I would highly recommend these delightful waffles! read more

I love this place! One of my coworkers recommended me to come here and I haven't been able to find any other breakfast place I like as much as this one. The Audrey is my absolute favorite waffle (goat cheese, hazelnuts and honey). The waffles are crunchy and caramelized on the outside which is why they charge extra for maple syrup (which isn't really necessary in the first place) coffee is always fresh and lattes aren't as sweet as you would expect. Friendly staff and cool ambiance. read more

I popped in on a weekday morning and it was bustling with people. The line wasn't long and I got helped quickly. The person taking my order was friendly and offered solid information comparing their chai to the London fog. He proceeded to ask me about my day and seem like he actually cared. I wasn't sticking around, but there were open tables. Things were clean. They also have plenty of room to sit outside if you'd like. There are pastries and some cold drinks in a case. There aren't a lot of gluten free options, but they did have one muffin I could have had. The drink preparation takes a bit of time. There were people already waiting and many of their drinks have special preparations (pour overs, steeping the tea). Have a minute to wait. I had the London Fog and the baristas advice held true. The flavor was worth the wait and I will surely go back. They roast their own coffee and make you feel welcome. Plus, there's a bookstore across the street. Love all around.

The space is large and open so you don't feel like you're BFFs with all the patrons. But that means you're missing the cozy atmosphere. Love charming venues like this! They have a variety of seating areas inside and outside. There were three different rooms inside to sit in. There were various areas outside, including a bistro table area in front of the house, a lighted covered patio area on the side of the house, an enclosed seating area with an open garage door, and a gas fireplace area with adirondack chairs. We ended up ordering the crustless quiche and iced coffees. The quiche was outstanding and served on a bed of spinach. The coffees were yummy too! Prices were reasonable. The two ladies helping us at the counter were friendly and helpful. Overall a wonderful first visit. I'll definitely be back to try their lunch menu! Would definitely recommend.

The owner is from Tanzania, and the mission of the business is to serve the local community with high-quality African coffee beans. Part of the profits go back to Africa to support coffee workers and help improve living conditions in their communities. Their signature drink is the Zanzibar spiced coffee, which I featured in my photo. It's infused with a blend of warm spices that makes it truly unique. The coffee I ordered was a lighter roast, with a pleasant hint of acidity as you sip it. They also have three different food options with African bread. The staff are incredibly friendly and happy to share the story behind the coffee shop, which makes the experience even more meaningful.

The food itself was AMAZING! The lamb and goat were tender, the sauces on all the dishes ordered were on point. The naan was warm, buttery, garlicky goodness. The kids loved the mango lassi drink. On our way out, I picked up some items from the grocery store and some samosas to go. The crust on the samosa was so good, the fillings delicious. I highly recommend this place. Since it's located in a mini mall, there's plenty of parking. Did I mention there's an eye brow threading in the same location? I believe it's also owned by the same people.
