We came here for breakfast one Saturday morning. Not too busy. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular. The waffle was doughy. The middle part was undercooked. Coffee was good and service was quick and straight forward. We like supporting local businesses so we will try this place again! read more

Wow - once I saw Leslie Knope on the menu I knew this place would be amazing and it totally was! I had Second Breakfast and the Prosciutto with Brie and Pear was the perfect flavor combination! The Leslie Knope was uh-may-zing! You have to try the whip cream - oh my goodness - creammmmy and deliciousness with a side of strawberries!! You have to try it! My son had the Swanson Sammie and let's just say he was the first one finished devoured it all!! The lavender fog latte's and caramel macchiato did not disappoint either!! The place is cute the staff is friendly.. the food needs more. From the heated up frozen sausage patty, to the liquid eggs, this place is lacking. The waffles were a little tough but tasted decent. For the price of $27 and some change for 2 sammies they were a miss. It seems like they are trying to push out food instead of taking the time with fresh ingredients to make quality food. I'm in Vancouver for six days and found Syrup Trap my first morning with my son. Lucky me. Revisited the second morning with my other child. Both times I got the Original, a plain crisped to perfection waffle with a light dusting of powdered sugar. Superb. The waffles are denser than "normal" waffles, reminding me of a cross between a sweet bread and a waffle which, to me, was utterly unique and delicious. It also had a sweet note, but just the right amount (less than pastry). My kids got the ham and Brie with fresh pear slices. Also phenomenal. Honey lavender latte was yum. Waffles. Buy waffles. Tasty waffles with lots of syrup. But also...Brie and pear. Seasonal pumpkin cheesecake waffles. You don't have to get hit in the head with a golf ball to know these are amazing and definitely on the uptrend. It's a bit...cozy inside. This place definitely draws a crowd. This small cafe has delicious waffles! This was my first time and I had the "Second Breakfast " waffle: (Brie, prosciutto and pear on top). Can't wait to try some of their other combinations. Staff was friendly. It is a small place and a little noisy. Perfect place to stop for a bite when strolling around Main Street or before a matinee at the magenta theater. read more

Delicious: yes! Atmosphere: yes! Friendly staff: yes! Downside: I feel like it's odd to charge extra for syrup at a waffle place. That should be a given. And to charge $4 for a sad looking side of mediocre bacon... I could buy a pack for that much. At least make it delicious thick-cut bacon! All in all, a cool little spot downtown. The Couve & the Audrey were both delicious. The Audrey would be yummy with fruit on top, but I was too cheap to pay $2 for a little extra fruit. read more

When the place gets busy, the wait can be long for food and drinks. I think my wait was at least 20 mins. However, it was worth it. The second breakfast waffle with Brie and prosciutto was so delicious. The matcha latte was good. I have mixed feelings about syrup being extra when it's called the "syrup trap". I've never paid for syrup at a waffle place. read more

SYRUP TRAP doesn't quite live up to exactly what it's title is. surprisingly, it's weaker points come in specifically it's syrup and waffles... a sub-par waffle that feels comparable to a hotel's waffle iron and syrup with little flavor. however, if you're coming for an over-the-top waffle decked out in a ridiculous amount of toppings and aren't looking to go across the pond to WAFFLE WINDOW, this is easily your spot. SYRUP TRAP is a fun little touristy spot that's a fun place to stop after a browse through the Saturday Market downtown. it's nothing crazy, but its coffee delivers!!!! Stopped by for a little brunch. Place is cute but tiny. All dishes were good but the waffles were the star of the show. Everyone loved their dishes. I'm not a sweet fan so I wish the sandwich was a little more savory but all in all I will be back. read more

I was on a layover for work and stumbled upon this place. Stopped by on a Saturday morning to check out what they had to offer. This place has a great vibe, welcoming dogs and their owners to sit outside and enjoy some waffles and coffee. Staff was super friendly and welcoming to an outsider and provided me with excellent recommendations. I had some coffee (with never-refills!) and banana, Nutella and whipped cream waffle with bacon. I love waffles and the reviews made me want to try this place. First off, it's a self-service place, which is not my preference, but I won't ding them for that. I ordered the "Original" waffle. If you want maple syrup (instead of brown sugar water) it's extra. In reviews I read light crisp on the outside, light on the inside. What I got was what would be half an order elsewhere (for half the price of elsewhere) of a fairly sense and chewy waffle. No decor, self-busing and blah coffee. All in all I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was just an off day. read more

Today was gloomy outside and raining on and off, but my son and I were determined to have a mommy and son breakfast date. We found THE best waffles in Vancouver! The Syrup Trap is perfection on a plate and in a mug! He ordered the Original waffle with syrup and a hot chocolate. The waffle was crisp on the outside and perfectly fluffy inside. A sweet caramelization occurring on the edges where the waffle iron seared them. Delicious is not the word. These are Devine! We will definitely be visiting again and again. The location is just off Main Street with metered Peking outside. We had no trouble parking and for $0.60 the meter gave us more than enough time. The Syrup Trap is open, airy, clean and minimalistic. I love the decor of wood and metal. Very PNW. There staff was so friendly. They joked around with my son and he had a great breakfast. The environment is conducive to our family and the needs of our special kiddos. Cody's front of the house attitude and vibe was sooo welcoming. Food was decent overall. I had the waffle sandwich. Just not sure it was awesome. Just good. And coffee was a bit nutty flavored to me which isn't a style i really like. And the dining area is small so when it got busy we felt like we had to vacate instead of chat. No refill on coffee that i know of. Not a place I'd probably eat at again. read more

Not impressed. The people are nice but the food was below average. To be fair, I was looking for a more traditional breakfast with waffles on the side. They only offer eggs and bacon as part of a sandwich. They suggested I could deconstruct the sandwich instead. You can see from the photo they didn't try very hard to make my order appetizing. I probably would not have posted anything negative, except that when I asked for syrup I was it's a buck per shot glass extra. Pretty obvious it only came out of a supermarket container of maple syrup. read more

I do NOT Recommend the gluten free waffles. Doughy gritty. Basically undercooked sugar dough. I also had a chai latte. Flavorless sugar water. The staff was very professional and it was clean inside. So that's where the two stars come from. Zero stars foe the food read more

I would be addicted to this funky little place if I lived here. The waffle was a little tough like it had cooled a little when brought out. However it was very enjoyable. Charging extra for syrup was a gauge that was a reason I downgraded to 4 Stars. When I feel like a place is charging for something that should be standard I feel gauged. The fruit was fresh and well presented. Selection was cleaver and should provide something for everyone. read more

A super fun breakfast spot! They do all kind of fun waffles, I had the JG2 and it was delicious! If you're a Parks and Rec fan you will enjoy the menu :) Had outdoor seating, but it was self seating so tables were not being sanitized regularly. We had to go ask an employee to sanitize our table, which they happily did. read more

This review is an outlier compared to the other reviews, so just take it with a gain of salt. I looked on the website to see if there was a contact where I could leave a more private review, but there isn't. I have no complaints about the service. But I sure hope that today's waffle dough was just an exception; the waffle was disappointing. I couldn't find any pearl sugar and the inside of the waffle was very doughy. Liège waffles typically are 60% (baker's percentage) pearl sugar. That causes caramelized sugar on the outside and clumps of pearl sugar inside the waffle; their major attraction. read more

Love this place. We have gone maybe six times. They have a gluten free option which is needed for my family. Four stars because of the size to price ratio, it's on the slightly expensive for what you get side. And the fact that you have to remember to ask for syrup, and you're charged for it, is kind of silly. It's called syrup trap.. and they only serve waffles. Syrup should always come with a waffle. I dream about the Audrey. They have turned me into a goat cheese fiend. It's so good, love the cute tables (tho on busy days don't recommend coming with a group because it's quite limited seating). When it was busy our first time, we took our brunch to the water front and drank our coffee and it was really nice. My husband loves the Swanson Sammy. My wife and I come here quite often. Their waffles are not like Normal waffles. These waffles are so unique in their taste I'm not sure what they're made of but I have a feeling it's made with a piece of Heaven, a lot of love and a little bit of sugar. I personally love the JG2 and when I'm not feeling a sweet tooth I also enjoy the second breakfast. They serve great coffee and the staff is always friendly. You can call ahead and put your order in ahead of time and then pick it up which is always nice if you're not wanting to sit there. Often times after I eat breakfast I'll go next-door and get my haircut. I'm not quite sure if there's a better combination waffles and haircuts. During the summertime you can sit outside sip on your coffee eat your waffle and feed your dog. That's called the triple threat. This place also is on DoorDash and Uber Eats and Postmates. Every day I wake up thinking if there could possibly be a better breakfast place I'm not quite sure that their is. The waffles are perfect size and they have a certain crunchiness to them as well. Not sure if you've ever stuck a waffle in your pocket but these are the type of waffles that if you do they still taste good. If you just get a plain waffle there less than five dollars and you can order them for your entire family and or business. They are a hit in the office, and on your school bus ride. Stay true to all of those waffle cravings and don't use syrup because there's no need! read more

Both were excellent. But, I still don't understand why the accompanying maple syrup is served cold, and not heated?? Regarding the benedicts, the eggs were borderline hard. One person felt the hollandaise was too salty. The coffee delivery was very slow to one of the patrons. The restrooms and the general appearance of the restaurant was also perfect. We were surprised by a complimentary plate of donuts since it was our first visit to Cecilia. These were hot and very fresh. I noticed the tables around us remained dirty and were not bussed. Even if you don't plan to use the tables again, they should be cleaned and set-up quickly. It was just ok, and not a restaurant I will rush back to.
