I was so excited to try this place out because of the reviews. I was hesitant because it was pretty pricey, but I was like why not. I ordered the wok tossed prawns and shrimp fried rice. Both were very disappointing and didn't have any flavor. The shrimp in the rice was soggy if that makes sense and the prawns had way too much batter put on it, so when it was fried it also came out as soggy/mushy. Will not be back. read more

Solid Chinese restaurant! I have only ordered takeout from this restaurant. My favorites: - Cold noodles - Ma po tofu I've also had the eggplant in garlic sauce, crab tofu, chongqing chicken, spinach with minced ginger, diced chicken with spicy garlic sauce and they were all great. I have not had the dan dan noodles at the restaurant, but they don't travel too well for takeout because the noodles get slightly too soft. (That's why the cold noodles are great for takeout!) I also was not a fan of the fish filet with pine nut in sweet vinegar sauce. It was slightly too sweet for my taste. read more

Good experience here! I've been meaning to come for years. Started with egg drop soup and veggie spring roll. Egg drop soup was above average, could use a touch of salt but was extra yolky. Veggie spring roll was crunchy hot and fresh. For the mains, I went with the fried tofu wrapped in egg, mainly bc I wanted to keep it veg and wanted a dish I'd never had before. Anywho, the dish was a huge portion, and was essentially a well-done thin crepe that wrapped about a pound of soft tofu, bokchoy, and chestnuts. The whole thing was drenched in umami sauce. I thought it was pretty good! I wish it wasn't as drenched in sauce, but it tasted good, fresh, and worked better over rice. I'd definitely come back, perhaps try something spicier and crispier. Best Chinese food in the neighborhood! I have been to many others and after being disappointed, always return here where the food is fresh, authentic and served hot. The service is always fast and attentive. It's easy to miss since it's just in, off the corner off Broadway down a few steps. Really good location and the interior is nice and spacious. The menu offers a selection of spicy and non spicy food which tailors to different customers. They also accept credit cards. For most of the dishes that I tried, four stars is not nearly enough, however, some dishes should not be on the menu, such as soup dumplings which are a bad call here (I can get frozen soup dumplings and make them at home). No need to have them on the menu - There were other exceptions, but for the most part, everything else was great; the superstar was cumin lamb. Crispy cucumber (super simple, super fresh ), and chengdu wonton were also both very good. Service was good and kind. I brought cupcakes for my daughter's birthday - they said no problem, brought out plates and helped me light my candles. So kind. The decor is obviously not the priority here. Definitely recommend and looking forward to going back and trying more dishes. read more

The food here is amazing and authentic. Their dry stir-fried fish is the best I have found around Columbia campus--it is both crispy and a perfect mixture of spice and flavor. Another recommendation is their baby eggplant in spicy garlic sauce. It is a must-have if you want to include some veggies in your meal and/or like eggplants. For carbs go for the Singaporean stir fry noodles: ask for extra curry sauce if you like that extra oomph in your food! Double cooked pork was average: not that special. Too many onions and too little meat. Pricing is affordable considering the portion size. Note: they only give rice for the dishes that are not noodle or fried rice dishes, but rice is a must-have for most of their dishes since it's so flavorful (costs 1.50). read more

Went here for CNY and it was pretty good! There's not a ton of good Chinese food uptown but I thought this was good and would come back. It was a tad bit too salty but the flavors were legit. They have us an extra rice cake dish they were making for CNY. They were quite busy that evening but still very good! They only offered tea or water but you couldn't get both. So this review isn't about the food but the service that we received today. I used to come here when I went to Columbia on a daily basis, but after I graduated I didn't come back here for awhile now. The service we received today by 1 of the female waitresses was just average at best, so I decided to only give her a 12% tip. She saw this and proceeded to say this is not acceptable and wanted to force me to change the amount I gave her. I told her that her service was average and that I didn't want to change the amount, so she proceeded to argue with me and said I didn't have a choice and had to give her a higher tip. I really liked this restaurant and have always had a great experience there, but this waitress really changed my view of the business. read more

Szechuan food is one of my favorite cuisine and this place did not disappoint. Was craving for some spicy and Málà Chinese food while in the area and this place delivered. We ordered a bunch of dishes including sautéed string beans, spicy garlic eggplant, fish fillet in numbing spicy broth and everything was spicy and yummy. And also the portion was beyond generous for the price and also the food came out super hot and fast. The only thing we ordered that we didn't like (not pictured) was the tofu with crab meat. It did not have any crab inside and was lack in flavor. Service was also super friendly. Definitely recommended read more

We also got the Dan Dan Noodles w Minced Pork ($8), which is a staple dish in Sichuan cuisine. Make sure you stir the bowl to mix the sauce and minced pork. For veggies, we got the Sautéed Green Beans With Eggplant ($18), which tasted great. I usually get sautéed pea shoots for a veggie dish, but this was worth ordering as the eggplant tasted great along with the green beans. For entrees, we got the Spicy Green Pepper Fish Filet ($28 for filet). A classic Cantonese dish that comes with bok choy, so it turns out I didn't really need to order a veggie dish. Delicious. We also tried the OOHU Mao Xue Wang ($34), which may be one of the most spiciest dish available on the menu. The eggplant was 10/10; the eggplant was cooked well, so tender but not soggy. The sauce was really good too such that it was sufficient spice but not flaming. Would recommended. I enjoyed the cucumber salad and tofu as well, but have had better. Seasoning and prep were good though -- although the tofu was cooked so tender (or maybe was silken tofu to begin with) that the whole table was struggling with carrying it from plate to mouth -- heh. Food came out very quickly; staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Decent amount of seating with a cozy vibe. It was a good meal, not my favorite Szechuan spot, but definitely hit the spot.

I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable.
