First time ever. Food was hot and came out quickly. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant seems clean, quiet and comfortable. Definitely will go back to try different things.

We eat at China Village occasionally because it is the closest Chinese restaurant to where we live and, at least in my experience, their food is decent and normally less salty than many other Chinese restaurants in this area. Service likewise is decent and I was a bit surprised seeing as some reviewers have said their experience was not so good. But I haven't actually experienced poor service whenever I have eaten there. I have some Chinese restaurants that I like better and some worse, but if I'm looking for Chinese food with a shorter drive or for take out, China Village is a good choice in my opinion. As for authenticity, since I'm not Chinese and have not spent any appreciable time in China, I really can't say. Like most I would say they generally serve food tailored for a more American taste. And that's not a bad thing!

The food! Ordered pad Thai. Had zero flavor! I think they forgot to add the Thai. Seriously.

Good food, but needed "more beef on the Mongolian Beef". Limited menu, but service was good and the facility was clean.

The food was pretty good. I had the sweet and sour chicken, rice, egg roll, wonton ton soup and crab ragoons. I would definitely go again.

The guy "tag-teamed" his wife to come out of the kitchen and bicker with me, right in front of multiple other customers, when I "dared" to speak up about their tone and attitude, then repeatedly pointed to a sign on the wall that said "we match your energy" (AKA: "we reserve the right to be total a****les for any and all perceived slights, real or imagined") when I had the "audacity" to complain about how they spoke to me and my dad on the phone and in-person. They were furious that my elderly dad was "taking too long" to place his order for four people (he was not, at all) and acting like it's somehow our fault that they only have a single phone line. Give me a break (take-out only establishment, by the way). They then proceeded to promptly cancel my dad's order and shoo me out, all the while cussing at me in Mandarin, at which point I walked out of there (for the last time). You would do well to AVOID this place at all costs, trust. Not to mention, I've had their food more than a few times before, and it is not even NEARLY good enough to justify them being this nasty towards their patrons. Their offerings are the very definition of "sodium-infused slop" and "mediocre at best" and they act like we are lucky to be allowed to purchase them. What a joke! Do yourself a HUGE favor (like I did) and pay a little extra for a place with WAY better people and service, and MILES better quality food, places such as Shangri-La (amazing!), for example. Never, ever again. You have been warned!

BUUT why are you closed every time I'm craving Chinese? I get it. Everyone deserves time off. You're a small family business. Work-life balance, as they say! But I want my (huge, perfectly crisp, bursting with deliciousness) egg rolls dammit! I've even got my parents who live in Arizona hooked on you like a drug. Only to be disappointed whenever they are in town-sure enough you are closed! It's becoming a running joke in my family. I'll call and get a busy signal on your single phone line as many times as it takes (11, to be exact tonight). Today, I hit rock bottom and ended up getting the most awful/greasy/disappointing almond boneless chicken and salty weird wonton soup from another establishment, like an addict who needs her fix). Never again. I understand that good things come to those who wait... I'll keep waiting for you, Szechuan Gourmet. Please be gentle with my heart. And my tastebuds. And my GI tract.

Don't expect the world's best anything - you are picking up freshly-cooked food defensively - anything you get here will be better than the gas station taquitos or the Arby's roast beef sandwich binge you will regret in 30 minutes. But to be clear, it's not going to be particularly great. Something about the time of day that I pass by through this area gets me so excited to toss in a pickup order just to see what I get. The Singapore-style Mei Fun is reliable. Get it plain without the Singapore curry spice if you're more suspicious. lol. Anything like String Beans with Garlic, or Beef with Broccoli, is going to be perfectly acceptable for a road warrior like you. The location, consistency, and ease of triangulation with regards to ordering over the phone (or having your shotgun passenger order) about 10 minutes before you reach this Hwy exit merits a solid 4-star review. The food is 3-star ish, but the mere existence of this place warrants a bonus "Oasis" star.

I got home and opened the food and it was filled with vegetables I was allergic to. I called and spoke with the person I ordered from they confirmed that it should've been made with only bok choy and was told to come back and get the correct food. I asked on this phone call if I would need to bring the food that was made incorrectly back they assured me I didn't. Then less than 10 minutes later called me back and said that the kitchen didn't think they made a mistake and to bring back the food to prove they were wrong. I came back with the receipt and incorrectly made item and inquired as to why they switched up in less than 10 minutes no response was given. Then a woman who I believe to be an owner opened up the food and started sifting through it with a spoon telling me what the vegetables were. Once I again reminded them that, that still isn't what I ordered she finally remade the food and made me wait again as they didn't have the correctly made meal ready as they promised me on both phone calls. This incident also violates Rule 3-306.14 of the Michigan Food Safety Code as well. I have been a loyal customer of Shang-ri La's Midtown and West Bloomfield location even during COVID and to be treated this way was pretty devastating.
