We took a few bites of our sesame chicken and then found an extremely long hair buried in it. I called the restaurant because we ordered delivery (through them directly and not Doordash, Uber, etc.). We simply wanted a refund for only the sesame chicken, as everything else was fine. They kept saying they would discount our food the next time we came in, but I tried to explain that after this we didn't to eat there again and just wanted the money back. After a long, frustrating call, they said they would give us our money back. If you like good tasting food that possibly will have a hair in it or possibly be made in unsanitary conditions and then will be hard to get a refund for, I would recommend Szechwan Noodle. read more

After a night out with my little brothers we were driving home hungry and noticed this place was open. Ample parking at the late hour and full of people. We were warmly welcomed and seated. The place is new on the inside and has really good service. The decor is kinda mish mash and there's a tv but these are very minor details. The menu is extensive and our server offered up typical Chinese ordered dishes and typical American ordered dishes. We went the American version! I love the beef noodle. Definitely numbing. So beware if you can't handle spice. I didn't know they could do half spice until the last time I went. My husband and I make the drive from Peoria just to get their beef noodle. The beef chunks are to die for (aka super soft- so soft you can break it apart easily with your utensils). This time my husband wanted to try the Dan Dan noodles. It was good but something was off about it. My husband did have a really bad stomachache later on. Probably won't order it again. Let me start by saying.... when it comes to authentic Chinese food restaurants and you don't speak or read Chinese, pictures really help, because the English descriptions of the dishes do not in anyway give you an accurate idea of the dish. Well ...ordered it not spicy because my kiddo was going to eat it. It still had a bit of kick because of the white pepper, which was a little heavy handed I might add. All the dish consisted of was vermicelli rice noodles, little pieces (emphasis on little) of pork belly and a few pieces of bok choy mixed in oil, garlic, five spice and TOO MUCH white pepper. This place truly is a little gem. We ordered the #9 Wontons in spicy chili oil, the #2 Sweet and sour pork ribs, the #39 curry noodles, and the #33 Spicy Beef Noodle soup. The wontons were amazing. A little soupy for my taste, but had an amazing flavor. The Sweet and sour pork ribs were the hit of the table. Everyone loved the flavor. While we greatly enjoyed the curry noodles, my favorite was the spicy beef noodle soup. It had a great authentic flavor and I will go back for that for sure. Usually skeptical about going to Chinese restaurants because I'm pretty picky about the authenticity of the food served in general at these type of restaurants. Came to try this place out, and was pleased with the noodles they have. I've tried the beef and pork dried noodle - they were pretty much the same but different meat. Same price at 9.99, same delicious mala taste. Also ordered the Dan Dan noodle with added ground meat. It's a bit different from what I'm used to. It's more peanuty. We always order the wonton in chili oil as well. Can't go wrong there if you like the spicy. The best Szechwan restaurant in Tempe. As a Chinese, I can say this restaurant has the essence of authenticity of Szechwan food. However, it also has some unorthodox dishes, such as orange chicken, General Tso's chicken, Mongolian beef, etc. I have read some reviews that the food here is too spicy. From my perspective, I think it has only 70% spiciness compared to the food in my hometown. I strongly recommend people who can eat spicy food to this restaurant. For those who can only eat a little spicy, I suggest you to ask for less chili when ordering. -The environment and decoration of this restaurant is rough. Nothing is interesting except for a open kitchen which can give customers some sense of security. At least we can make sure they are using good ingredients. -The taste is basically spicy, oily and salty. They make very good veges. Fried A choy is the best and it is not spicy. -Service is pretty good. Servants are friendly. They know both English and Chinese. They will ask you if you have any food taboos and allergies when you order. They will fill your water bottle when it has half left. To me, their services are perfect. -The price of the dishes are reasonable. Most of them are around $8~13. Only the big dishes like Water Boiled Fish are $18. Yet another regional Chinese restaurant in the East Valley! If there's a Sichuan eatery here on every corner like there are Starbucks stores here I don't mind one bit. Just bring me a half-caf no whip trenta size water-boiled fish please. This restaurant space used to be Pong Pong which had very basic, Americanized Chinese food. I love how they've essentially upgraded the quality of food here from the predecessor. The cuisine here is unapologetically Sichuan style which I commend them on. You won't see any orange chicken or sweet and sour pork to cater to more pedestrian tastes. The tamest items you will find here are the fried rice and chow mein. They aren't afraid to turn up the heat and the spice levels are listed in terms of chili peppers. The menu has a pretty good variety of all the common dishes you'll find at a Sichuan style restaurant. We had the dan dan noodles and fried bean curd with pork belly slices. At a 2 chile pepper rating the dan dan noodles were plenty spicy. The Sichuan peppercorn they used tasted a little different because it had the heat and the tongue-numbing properties indicative of this spice but didn't have as much of a fragrant, floral note to it as I've experienced in similar restaurants. The noodles were coated with just the right amount of sauce, with fresh vegetables, peanuts, and chopped scallions. It's interesting how each restaurant I've had this dish at makes dan dan noodles slightly different and for me personally I enjoyed the noodles but I prefer the style of dan dan noodles that has more ground meat and preserved vegetables in it for an added textural component and a little punch of flavor. The fried bean curd and sliced pork belly was a generous portion served with a large scoop of rice. It was perfectly fried and had a lightly crisp exterior with soft, custard-like center. It had a meatiness to it despite being all soy. The pork belly went well with the sauce and tofu. The restaurant is pretty small but they make pretty good use of the space they have for a few tables, kitchen and cashier area, with an overhead TV playing popular Chinese shows. Service was succinct. Aside from getting our orders taken, having our food delivered to our table, then handing us the check we didn't receive any additional follow ups. I'm intrigued by the other items in the menu so I'll be back to try more! read more

I am admittedly a newcomer to Szechuan food. I know they turn up the heat but I was not expected a similar increase in flavor. This place is simply great. Fortunately, my friend who (a) speaks fluent chinese and (b) knows the menu, guided me through lunch. I started with the egg rolls. I don't care, they were delicious. I like green beans. They are a staple of any kid that grew up in the 70's and 80's. These green beans aren't what I grew up with. Blanched and then sauteed with garlic, pork, hot peppers, and other aromatics, they were absolutely delicious. If my buddy hadn't finished them off (if he reads this ...) I would have brought them home. Finally, per my friends, recommendation, I ordered the #33 Noodle with stewed beef in hot fresh beef-& pork-bone soup. I'm not a big eater and I wish I hadn't ordered all of the other stuff above. The beef melted in my mouth, the soup's heat built but never overwhelmed, and the noodles were perfect. I WANT MORE NOODELES. I'm no expert in Asian food. Fortunately, my friend knows what he's doing (he ordered in Mandarin). In terms of the General Tso, the dish was pretty good if you can eat it within 7-8minutes. The dish came out piping hot, the sticky brown sauce was well-seasoned and not too sweet. The onions and the bell peppers were cooked appropriated and added a nice sweetness and crispness to the dish. The chicken was lightly battered and very crispy. However, after about 8 minutes the batter got soggy and distracting, but this is almost inevitable with sauce on something fried. It's not Korean friend chicken. Also, the chicken breast pieces were dry. It was served with fried rice which was gritty. The noodles were satisfactory. The broth was a bit under-seasoned and on the bland side. Luckily I was able to add the 'chef's spicy sauce' which elevated the flavors. It was likely a mistake on my part, but I envisioned crispy crackling salted pork belly with this bowl. Instead it was spongy, soggy, processed pork chunks. The actual chunks were seasoned well and because they were spongy did absorb a good amount of broth. So instead of the crack I was expecting, I got a squeeze of soup, which isn't a total let down. Value: the prices here were very reasonable for a neighborhood Chinese place. The General Tso's and side of fried rice was about $9, and the noodles with fried pork belly was about $10. And these were dinner prices. Service: the staff was very friendly and approachable. They happily answered questions about the menu, were willing to make a small alteration to a dish, attentive with refilling the water and not visibly unhappy with splitting the check. Overall, I could see myself eating here about every other week if I lived in the area. Not a place I would go out of my way to eat at again though. read more
