I think I've been leaning towards not choosing any boba lately. Which is a good thing, if you've looked up what happens when you consume so many tapioca pearls lmao. Since I live in the Bay Area, I know for a fact that bubble tea chains like T4, Quickly's, and Tapioca Express are all over the place. This location just so happens to be the nearest bubble tea place near me according to DoorDash. I was like, "Eh. I guess I'll go for some boba and a snack." And I ended up ordering a Jasmine Milk Tea with no tapioca pearls. My DoorDash deliverer kinda screwed me over and got me no ice but the sweetness level was at 80%, which is what I liked in terms of balance. The drink was still cold when it arrived to my home, so that was a good thing. But after taking sips, the tea just tasted so bland yet funky. Bleh. I didn't expect the Jasmine flavor to be a little bit overwhelming for my taste buds. Note to self: Don't get the Jasmine Milk Tea at T4. For my little snack, I ordered the Basil Popcorn Chicken. I knew I should've ordered a different kind of snack from T4. The chicken was all soggy because it was in a small box and all the moisture that was trapped inside made the chicken not so crunchy anymore. The basil leaves were there, but they were also soggy. Not to mention that they didn't even put cayenne pepper/paprika/whatever the hell it is on my chicken.. smh. Because we all know that great bubble tea snacks comes with great seasoning. But nope, I didn't get any. Popcorn chicken just tasted meh in my mouth. It also had a funky taste to it as well to the point where it kinda made me feel like it was under cooked. I did not bother eating the basil leaves. Hopefully when I go to this place soon, I'll be expecting a long ass line and maybe a crappy tea+snack again. read more

T4 is probably one of the most popular tea shops in San Leandro, especially at night during their Happy Hour (9pm-11pm). I think this is a pretty OK place to come and hang out with friends. I have fond memories of coming here in high school and sitting around the table with my friends talking, laughing, and playing Jenga. However, during the busier times, it's hard to get seats. At night, the line is usually out the door, if not almost. In terms of drinks, honestly they're just OK to me. I think it's better than Tapex or Quickly, and it's nice that they have a wider variety to choose from, too. T4 just isn't my first choice for just getting milk tea, but the happy hour (20% off, with some items as exceptions) makes it a little more worth it. Another bonus is the food here, which will satisfy your cravings. They have items such as popcorn chicken, mozzarella sticks, egg puffs, tea eggs, and much more. I believe you can even order ramen from the sushi restaurant next door, but I've never tried it so I can't comment on the taste or quality. They also have a touch screen ordering kiosk set up on glass to the right of the cashier, so you can order from there, too, if you're using card. I usually come here at night for happy hour. It's always hella packed, both inside with all the tables taken and people waiting in line, and then outside with people hanging around with their boba. There's always loud music playing here which is typical for any boba shop. But with the mass amount of people having conversations plus their music playing, sometimes the noise level is just a little too much. A lot of people come here, so you're bound to bump into someone you know. They serve boba and food here. I've never tried the food here, but popcorn chicken is a common staple of any boba shop. I would try that out first if you're looking to snack on something. They serve a lot of common flavored boba drinks as every other boba shop. I tend to lean more towards the fruit tea drinks and add on tapioca balls or grass jelly. Watch out and adjust the sweetness/sugar percentage to your liking. If you've got a sweet tooth, be prepared because you'll definitely enjoy the sugar rush, but also watch out for the crash right after! read more

This is one of my favorite bubble tea places and I'll tell ya why! Their roasted oolong milk tea is by far my favorite oolong milk tea done by any boba store so far! The tea is very creamy yet has a potent oolong flavor. Don't worry it is not overpowering; it has a balanced kick to it. It's refreshing to drink this drink and I'd gladly order one without pearls even! When I don't want to try something new, this roasted oolong milk tea is my go-to drink. The pearls here are also some of the best I've tried so far! Most days, they're chewy and well-sweetened. They have a sweet caramel flavor to them and they're quite big and chewy also. It compliments the roasted oolong milk tea really well. The basil popcorn chicken is definitely one of the best of popcorn chicken! It's very nicely seasoned with an adequate amount of spices that are not overpowering. The chicken meat is very juicy and they have a great bounce when you bite into them-in a good way of course! They also include basil (hence the name) which is a good palette cleanser for me to get an herbal freshness. This particular T4 also participates in happy hour so it's 50% off most drinks and snacks. It starts at 9pm so lines are really long so I would recommend not going there after 9pm. If you waited for exactly the right time interval, then you're set for some great deals. Whoa! Who would have thunk it that in all places, San Leandro would be home to a legit milk tea spot? T4 is the best thing to happen to Da Dro since being mentioned in "The Princess Diaries" (Wikipedia that!). OK, that might be a slight exaggeration but I'm so excited to finally have a solid boba place nearby! T4 is challenging to find. It's located inside San Leandro Plaza, in the small alley between Tsuru Sushi and Zeng Sushi Delight. The store is fairly spacious with a vibrant and modern interior. There are numerous wooden tables that are bigger and roomier than its neighbor, TapEx. Hence, you can actually sit down and enjoy your drinks without feeling cramped. The drink selection is extensive. I always struggle choosing a drink because first, I have to pick the flavor and then I have to pick the toppings/add-ons to go with it. I invariably want everything (boba, red bean, mango, lychee, etc.). Now at T4, they provide an option to pick how much ice and sweetness you want. OMGAWD. Too many options! Mo' choices, mo' problems. I finally decided on the winter melon tea with boba while my friend opted for the lychee black tea with boba. They have two sizes of drinks: regular and large. They also have two sizes of boba: small and large. The large is basically just the regular size boba. I went with 50% sweetness and no ice with my winter melon tea because I don't like when my drinks get watered down. My tea was refreshing and delicious! It reminded me of the winter melon teas I've had when I was in Hong Kong and Taiwan. However, even with 50% sweetness, it was a tiny bit too sugary for me so I might go with 30% on my next visit. The boba was a good consistency but on the chewier side. Although it was softer than I normally like, it was still yummy. My friend's lychee black tea was awesome! As much as I love the drinks here, I feel like the service and employees are a bit out of wack when there aren't the older employees here. The last time I came, music was blasting out of the store and I could barely hear myself think. Originally I wanted to sit in there to enjoy my drink but never mind that, I couldn't leave any faster after getting my drink. With the music being so loud, it affects the service too. I ordered a normal pearl milk tea with 30% ice and 80% sweetness. I ended up getting an earl gray milk tea, not black milk tea. My other order was also a normal large pearl milk tea with 30% and 100% sweetness. They only got the pearl milk tea part and added 100% ice. I love this place and I wish it was closer to San Jose! Besides the really cute white and turquoise interior here, the Milk Tea is superb and tastes similar to Verde's Frothy Milk Tea, but way more delicious and not diluted! I like the concept here where you can choose your percentage of ice and sweetness. I ordered the Original Milk Tea with Regular Sweetness, 30% Ice, and Grass Jelly. My drink was on point and I was able to savor every sip of my Frothy Milk Tea. YUM! The Grass Jelly was also really good and tasted really fresh. We also ordered the Popcorn Chicken here, it was mediocre and had a lot of orange powder on it. I'll pass on it next time. But what really blew my mind was the Fried Tofu! Usually all Tapioca Shops deep fry their tofu inside and out, but at T4, it's really crisp on the outside but the inside is just so soft and fluffy. I've never had fried tofu like I have at T4! It was my first time here, and I was somewhat disappointed. When I hear the words "milk tea" I often think about Taro and Thai Tea, which they don't have. I walked into what looked like the inside of a Tiffany Box. As with most boba chains nowadays, T4 does not have a huge board with the list of drink menus on the wall. I feel like most boba places are focusing more on aesthetics and the ambiance, which is why they have their menus printed out and laminated at the counter upon checkout. This is not your Tap-Ex or Quickly's though. T4's drinks primarily focus on the tea and it's amazing the array of blends and flavors they have available. I tried the Rose flavored tea and I thought it would be like downing a bouquet but surprisingly it was refreshing and flavorful. I especially like the customization factor T4 offers. I sent my kid in with $20 dollars to buy two drinks, she came outside and said they didn't give the right change. They typed $10 instead on the recipe instead of $20. They say they need to check the cameras. Then they say they can't check the cameras but the manager has to but the manager is never there. Please be careful. Love love LOVE this place! I rave about it to all my fellow milk tea loving friends. I haven't had their boba yet (lol) because I love the grass jelly here so much! I can't help myself and keep ordering it visit after visit. Also tried the coffee jelly here and it was pretty good, but the grass jelly is still my #1 add on. I've had their earl grey, green, jasmine, and oolong milk tea, which btw is REAL TEA! I always order them 50% sweet, 30% ice and its damn near perfect. I had huge concerns about this place because I had been following the reviews for this place and the biggest issues were of timeliness and incorrect orders. When Boyfriend and I went last night after work, there were only 2 other groups in the store with us. We walked straight up the counter and placed our order (since we had made our decisions after looking at a menu posted in the window outside first) - a roasted oolong milk tea with 30% ice and 50% sweetness and a jasmine milk tea with the same percentages. We got our drinks very quickly, so timeliness wasn't an issue for us. And they gave us the correct drinks, too, so far as I could tell. I definitely had roasted oolong milk tea and Boyfriend definitely had jasmine. The ice wasn't at a ridiculous level. However, we had both expected that the 50% sweetness would make the drinks sweeter than what we got. I'm not familiar with the percentage system when ordering, so I'm not sure if 50% is considered to be very sweet or not. I'll have to try the next level up (I think it's 80%?) to be able to be sure though. Overall, I felt that they weren't bad. My drink, with no pearls, ended up only being $2.75 and Boyfriend's, with pearls, was only $3.25 (both regular size). Price-wise, it's on par with Quickly and TapEx. Taste-wise, there was nothing about it that necessarily made me think it was better than the other milk tea standards in the area. Their milk teas are bombbbbb, especially the Earl Grey Milk Tea, my usual :D. On the other hand, the calamari is not as great as some other places I have tried. Calamari is chewy to begin with, but it's overly chewy on the outside, perhaps it's the breading for the fry battering. It's a jaw workout, lol. I had to dip the calamari into a bunch of sauce to get through eating it. I'm not going to dock a star for the food because I'm such a fan for their drinks. I've been looking for a new and interesting tea place that has a lot of unique drinks to offer, and I think I have found it in T4. This place is really clean and roomy, and the has a cozy ambience to it. I went on a Sunday afternoon, so it wasn't really pack, so that could be a reason why it was quiet and cozy. One of the things I like about this place is that it's really clean. The workers instantly cleaned up the table and wiped everything down, and made it really spotless. The thing that stands out about T4 is their menu. They have over 30+ drinks and a lot of different toppings that you can pick to add into your drinks. Aside from being able to determine how sweet your drink is; 0%, 30%, 50%, 80% or standard of 100%, you can do the same for ice! If you want a lot of ice in your drink, go for the standard, if you're not in the mood for it, go for 30% or 0%. I ordered the milk tea with grass jelly with 50% sweet, my girlfriend ordered passion fruit smoothie with fig jelly with 80% sweet, my cousin ordered the pearl milk tea with 30% sweet, and my other cousin ordered honey peach royal tea with 80% sweet. Milk tea with grass jelly: It was really good and sweet, even at 50% sweet. Their grass jelly was soft, sweet, and the milk tea was really creamy and made to perfection. I'd recommend getting this at 30% sweet if you don't want your drink to be too sweet. Passion fruit smoothie with fig jelly: This drink was really sweet at 80% so I recommend getting it at 50% and less. The drink was thick, so it was kind of hard to drink it, but it was good, and the after taste was fruity and refreshing. To be honest, it was more of a slushy than a smoothie. Pearl milk tea: The milk tea was alright, nothing too special about it. It wasn't tok sweet so that was a plus. The one thing that I like about this drink is their pearls; it was really good, chewy and soft. I wish I could've added pearls in my grass jelly drink....yes, it was that good haha. Honey peach royal tea: This drink was really refreshing and fruity. It will leave a cool and refreshing feeling in your throat, definitely a drink worth getting on a hot day. I tasted the peach more than the honey, but it was a good drink regardless. I would recommend this place to all of the fellow Yelpers out there! Not bad not bad. The location is just right and the store is a really chill place to hang with your friends. I would switch the music playlist though. I ordered the Roasted Oolong Milk Tea with grass jelly & it reminds me of Chatime in Oakland. Except, I kinda like it a bit more. I got all standard (normal) ice & sweetness. I wouldn't get anything less. My brother ordered 50% sweetness for the regular Milk Tea & it was not very tasty. The grass jelly is great! I love the softness & sweet taste. Another plus about this place is the price of the drinks. Chatime is too expensive.. So T4, please DO NOT up the prices once you get popular!!! I would love to make this my new boba place! T4 has a great selection of milk teas and specialty drinks. They have a very well curated menu. I always feel overwhelmed by boba shops that have a hundred types of drinks, by the time in place my order I am certain that I have made the wrong choice and have instant buyers remorse. Hard to do that at T4, menus are available on all tables allowing customers to take their sweet time selecting the perfect drink. They use an early grey base for their standard milk tea, which is unusual but great. It's super creamy. You can also customize your drink using four levels of sweetness and ice content. Let's not forget about the happy hour- 50%off select drinks and snacks from 9pm-11pm. A great deal. The lively ambiance and spacious interior make this a great spot to meet up and hang out with friends. They even have a selection of board games available to bring to your table. This place has average tasting food and drinks. Nothing really special. But it satisfy my boba and snack cravings. The thing that sucks the most about this place are the employees. It's either they do not know the whole menu or they don't know how to work the register. One of the employees was just very very rude and the other one I'm not sure if she understand English. read more
