We ordered a poke bowl, but the tuna didn't taste very fresh. The texture felt a bit off. Hopefully this was just a one-time issue.

We had to stop by since we're so rarely on the west side, and we were not disappointed! The sushi tacos really do live up to the hype. Crunchy fried nori / rice paper shell and a generous scoop of spicy ahi on top of some sushi rice. This would be worth the drive alone, but if you see them at an event make sure you check them out! Parking was fine, they had some seating indoors by the window too but we sat at the beach across the street. Next best is the nigiri. We got the double ebi, super tasty torched garlic shrimp, generously sauced. Menu said it had shiso inside too, but I couldn't really taste it? The poke bowl was pretty good too. We got the salmon trio, the crispy skin on the top was a great garnish but it does get soggy fast, so make sure you eat that first. The fish was fresh and buttery, but they have some killer competition for poke bowls. The weakest item of our spread was the sushi sandwiches, which was a little disappointing. I think our mistake was eating them after all the other super seasoned, well-sauced menu items. We had the negi-hama-san, the flavors were actually still quite good but the ratios were kinda off. The sushi rice layer was too thick, it kinda overpowered the mild hamachi and after all our other food it was almost bland by comparison. Needs more of the green sauce to hold up imo, and some nori on the outside would make it hold together and be easier and less sticky to eat. Overall, definitely come for the poke tacos and nigiri! read more

Good poke although a bit underwhelming compared to the reviews. The fish was buttery, but I would've appreciated some sauce to level it up. Regardless, I loved the toppings and it was good quality. I was intrigued by the sushi tacos although I was looking for more fish to rice ration, which is why I went for the poke bowl. The shop was a bit small and they had indoor and outdoor seating but when I was there they were all taken even though it wasn't too crowded. The service was good and the cashier was nice. This place is unreal! We stumbled across them just cruising west side one beach day. Everyone who ordered before couldn't stop talking about there social media and insta fame. The food was fresh, made to order, high HIGH quality fish and absolutely fucking delicious. We finished our tacos in like 5 minutes and I immediately wanted more. Food was really good! If I had to say which was better, it'd be the westside sushi tacos over the shenron rolls. Called on the phone for my order, took 10-15 min. It was a slow weekday, around 2pm. Westside taco: Everything was perfectly the right amount and you will taste a harmony in everything. The crunch was there. No soggyness even after 10-15 minutes. To me, it tasted pretty light and fresh. --- On a personal note: The spam kinda thru me off a little only bc I don't eat spam often especially if its cold but i cant complain when the spam should be cold since all the other ingredients are kept cold as well. Shenron rolls: the flavor was good, right amount of the spicy ahi and the other shabangs. Personal note: Only thing I didn't like was how much rice they put in. Stopped here after scuba diving down the road and it was absolutely delicious. It seems like a family owned business and the staff was super nice. The paintings on the wall can be purchased and I believe are painted by the owners father. My hot Cheeto spam tacobi was delicious and not sure how they got nori to be so crunchy and a perfect taco vessel. Chef special salmon bowl was fresh and delicious. My trip to Oahu could not have started out on a higher note. this was the very first restaurant that we decided to eat at and I can say with confidence that it was all down hill after that. To start, the food was as authentic and you can get. All of the fish is caught fresh right around the island and the atmosphere is refreshing in its self. I was fortunate to meet the owner Angelo, he made the experience so welcoming, even spending time telling us about the island and local places we should see. Not to mention the staff is made up of an accumulation of some of the most delightful and kind hearted individuals you will ever meet.
