We went around 12noon place was empty, but who cares, I'm expecting some good to great food, so I order Machaca (beef / eggs) my sister orders breakfast fajitas w/ carne asada( steak) my eggs were brown meaning burnt, the beans had a funny taste, the carrots on the side of the beans tasted like mold (the smell of mold) my sister's steak was so tough she couldn't chew it, we call the waitress over to tell her about our food and tells us I can't do anything for you because you at most of it! My sister barley touched her plate, myself I did eat the rice and had a bite of beans and the eggs, that was hardly eating half of the plate then said I will take off the steak charge, ( cus steak was extra) my sister told her I come in all the time, the waitress did remember her she said, so my sister said I have no problem in paying but the food is horrible this time and my sister's eggs are burnt! She refused to help us, so one of the owners walks in and my sister explains the situation to him and the waitress See's us talking with him, and calls him over an is whispering in his ear? The owner comes back and tells my sister well you ordered the steak not a breakfast meat?? Huh what does the choice of meat we chose have to do with anything? So by this time I'm pretty annoyed I pick up my sister's steak and try to rip it apart and I couldn't due to it was super tough!, I literally had to pick up the meat to show him,it was disgusting! Maybe business isn't doing well? But that breakfast was disgusting and her being a manager well if there's a class she needs to take one cus her customer service sucked!! I decided to check this place out after seeing all the good reviews but I thought it was just mediocre. I got two Asada and two pastor. Both the meats weren't flavored very well and kind of bland, average at best. However, I loved all the sides it came with, especially the grilled peppers and pickled veggies. The red salsa is good and has a nice hint of spice but the green salsa was lacking. They give free chips and will kindly offer refills. We got churros with ice cream for dessert and that was my favorite part of the meal. The churros were warm and crispy kind of like Costco churros but way better. This just became my favorite taco place! They nailed the flavor and quality of every protein they have on the menu. In addition, their tortilla is hand made and it just hits differently than a basic regular tortilla. I ordered their special - 3 tacos and horchata for $14 - which in my opinion is worth it. A horchata alone is $4 and you are saving about 62 cents per taco. I was worried 3 tacos was not enough because usually I can eat 4-5 tacos but they pack a lot of protein that it was perfectly filling. I also love the pickled carrots, cactus, and peppers. We came here in February 2025 and February 2024. In Feb 2024, it was a restaurant where you ordered at the counter then sat yourself. In Feb 2025, there was a sign that said to wait to be seated and a waiter took our order at the table and served us at the table. Reading the Yelp reviews, it seems this change took place in Fall 2024. We prefer ordering at the counter and seating ourselves in order to keep meal costs and tips lower because the cost of everything has gone up so much in 2024. We haven't been able to find a place we like since Anita's closed. We all had our favorite dishes there and haven't really found a replacement with food we all can agree upon until now. If I were to nit pick, I'd go for a bit more spice on them, but their salsa has just enough zing to it that if you add it to any item, it will liven it up. Definitely the best vegan option I've found in the area with an option for cauliflower rice. I'm giving it 4 stars mainly because of the steak fries. I relied on Yelp pictures to make my decision, but unfortunately, I left half of them on the plate because they were too soggy. They really needed to be crispier. The fries were soft, and it didn't help that there was a layer of beans underneath them, topped with guacamole and sour cream. It all turned into mush in my mouth. Maybe they could make the fries crispier or skip the beans at the bottom. Also, I asked for a sample of the horchata first, and the server was so polite and let me try it before ordering. It was AMAZING! Not overly sweet and had the perfect consistency. The only downside is that if you dine in, they only have one size. AY AY AY the tacos here are UN POCO LOCO!!! No joking, this place has become my #1 favorite taco spot in all of California. It is seriously hard to beat how good they make them here. And I don't mean that they're just a teeny weeny bit better than pre-made tortillas - it is mind blowing how ginormous the difference is!! On to the meats we tried: Carne asada (4.69/5): It's hard to find a place that actually does their asada well, and they actually do it pretty well here, although, to be honest, their other meats are so good that in the future I'd probably pass on the asada and just get something else instead. But they finely slice their asada here and it's very tender and flavorful. Perhaps a taaad on the overcooked / dry side, but I'm just nitpicking there. Chorizo (5/5): Great texture and fantastic tangy flavor. If you're a chorizo lover then this is a must try!! Al pastor (6/5): Wow this was so delicious. I absolutely love it when places serve pineapple with their al pastor, it really takes it to the next level!! This was so flavorful, tender, and juicy. It was my girlfriend's personal favorite here! Chicharron in green sauce (69/5): ORGÁSMICO!!!!!!! Every bite had me moaning siiii PAPI!!!!! This was hands down my personal favorite here and I'd gladly order 10 of these tacos for myself next time. For that, it gets the honorary 69/5 rating. The flavor.. off the charts!! So juicy, so tender, so succulent. The juices were dripping all over my face and down my arm but I loved it. Why doesn't every taco place offer chicharron?? Lengua (5/5): I'm a big time lengua lover and this gets another two thumbs up from me! Seasoned well and had the perfect texture.. soft and tender. I especially loved how they cut their lengua into fat slices instead of chopping it up into bits like how most other places do. Quesabirria (5/5): The quesabirrias here did not disappoint, but the price was definitely eye opening lol. $6.50 for one! If you really gotta have it then definitely order the plate of 3, but the price for a single is super expensive. Nonetheless these were cooked perfectly and so damn good. The horchata was good but not the best I've ever had - tasted a bit thin / diluted, but still it was refreshing. I love the sides that they include with the tacos - the mini onions are a game changer!! I only wish that they had radish and also doubled-up on the tortillas. Finally was able to try this place. Wish I could give 2.5 stars. I'm giving it a three because it doesn't deserve a 2. I'm always down to try a new taco spot so I came for lunch on a Tuesday. They were running a "taco Tuesday" special with $3 tacos. I was hesitant to come at first because without the special tacos are $4 a piece (pretty steep for a street taco). The tacos are a little bigger than the average street taco which is a plus! The corn tortillas seem to be made in house and were nice, fluffy with a warmth to them like they were just taken off the griddle. The chicken tacos were pretty bland. Not very much flavor to them at all. Luckily the salsa that comes with it has a nice flavor and a slight heat that pairs very well. The carne asada wasn't much different. It was good but nothing special (again, thank goodness for that salsa). Horchata was pretty good not overly cinnamon and just right. The inside seems new and was very clean. I ordered 2 grilled chicken tacos and watched as they cut and cooked the tortillas right there - fresh! They piled on the grilled chicken and I requested just the onions, cilantro, and salsa. I went with the spicier salsa and it was def spicy! For a girl who can handle the kick, this was a good burn. The chicken was super flavorful too. My fiancé ordered a grilled chicken burrito bowl and man do they PILE the toppings on. From that burrito bowl alone he probably could've made 2 burritos tbh. Or at least 1.5. They're generous! Since it was a nice night, we decided to eat on their outdoor patio. I love the decorations and lights. There's also a lot of seating outside and inside. So, we had no idea which one was the Carne Asada or the Carnitas. We had to slice it up at home and give the correct burrito to my sister who asked me to pick up a burrito for her. Overall, the burrito was good a lot of beans, rice, meat, cheese, sour cream, and salsa. No lettuce or veggie in it. Food was ok, but I think they are still trying to figure things out.
