Been meaning to try this place for a long time, and now wishing we would have come here sooner. What a great place! Staff were really friendly and helpful, since it was our first visit. We got the egg rolls, yellow curry with chicken, and the fried rice with chicken. Ordered "medium" for the spice level, and for us it was perfect. The chicken was so good, reminded me of a rotisserie chicken. Delicious. The sauce they offered for the egg rolls was also very tasty. Can't wait to come back, and try some other dishes. read more

Some folks on our Bocce team were talking about this place. It's on our way home from church so we gave them a try. We ordered on-line when we left church and we received a text about 13 minutes later that it was ready (just as we parked). Everyone one was very nice. The seating is limited, but there is some upstairs. We ordered the Ta Lew Fried Rice with extra shrimp and medium spicy and a Vegetable Medley with Shrimp, no spicy. We also tried the Ta Lew Rolls. The rolls were just starting to soften from our 15 minute drive home in their container. We opened them up as soon as we got home and ate them. They are pretty good! We both enjoyed our entrees and since we're older and don't eat as much as we used to, we had enough left over for the lunch the next day. We'll definitely be back. read more

I'm really glad that I live close to this Thai restaurant. It's some of the best Thai food I have come across. I was greeted promptly by the nice gentleman working at the front. The restaurant bags all food to go. If you would like to dine inside, you're able to take your food upstairs to their designated seating. They do provide plastic plates, utensils and water if you choose to dine upstairs. We got our food to go. The food was ready on time and hot! The food was full of flavor and a favorite amongst my family. On this visit we ordered chicken fried rice, chicken pad Thai, beef pad see ew, fried dumplings and egg rolls. Portions were a good size for sharing. Definitely one of our favorites and we look forward to dinning again soon. read more

Ambiance Bare bones 2/5 Small order counter just inside the door with an open galley Kitchen visible behind the counter. A steep staircase on the right leads to the indoor dining area. The loft has a small two seat table, a four seat picnic table and a long bar counter that can accommodate 4-5 if your very friendly ; ) There are 2-3 additional tables outside in-front. Food Food was served fast. 5/5 It came with plastic utensils and styrofoam take home containers. Very fast Foodie. We ordered Thai Tee, Yellow vegetable Curry. The Drunken Noodles were ordered Crazy Hot Thai spice level ! The Thai Tea flavor was ok 3/5 My wife's Yellow Curry tasted more like a Pineapple Curry, very sweet and light in color. I enjoyed the flavor but agreed it wasn't Yellow Curry. 2/5. Pad Kee Mao, (Drunken Noodles) was excellent. I ordered them Thai extremely hot . Complex flavors were spot on and that Crazy Hot Thai level of spice is the way I roll ! 5/5 . Desert was the classic Mango sticky rice and moved to the top of my wife's Coveted #1 Position! 5/5++ Service Excellent service. 5/5 We had our order delivered to our table upstairs by one of the staffs darling 10 yr old family member. Kudos to Mom for teaching her. Given the large number of Thai restaurants in the Valley with atmosphere, seating etc this missed the mark. We wanted to get some Thai food for Friday lunch and found this family owned place in Gilbert. The set up in the inside is cute and you have to order and be seated. The restaurant is very home style and you can go get your napkins, water on your own. They do not have a lunch menu but the pricing is very reasonable. We went with cashew chicken and pad see ew with tofu. The food arrived fresh and the quantity was really good. We went with a 3 spice level and it was perfect. We really enjoyed the food and there was some left to take home as well. This is going to be our to go Thai place, good food and service. What more do you look for? read more

We stopped in for a random lunch, and although the location is convenient, the staff is so kind and the ambiance and service was great, this gets 3 stars because the food was average at best. Ranking in order, the Pad See Ew was the best, it was steaming hot and you could tell was very fresh. The flat noodles were a bit over done and the flavors were just flat. Next was the Ta Lew roles (vegetable egg rolls) they were good, but a bit mushy inside. I like a vegetable egg roll that you can clearly define the cabbage etc and this one was just kind of, crunchy on the outside and mushy inside. Lastly, the sweet and sour chicken was the least favorite. The chicken was rubbery a bit? Seemed possibly like it was boiled and then cooked with the sauce (which was super runny). Just not the best. Again.. cute place, and the staff were so sweet! We maybe missed the mark on ordering and should have tried a curry but, we probably won't return. read more

I'd like to share, this place is a TO-GO-ONLY. They have I believe 2 tables outside, I believe they were black metal tables, not comfortable seating in this heat. I recommend ordering in advance and then going to pickup. The food was alright, but not for the cost. The Thai teas had A LOT of condensed milk in them, they were extremely sweet. If they can just cut back half of what they put in, that would suffice. I got the pad Thai and wonton soup, the wonton soup was pretty big, it had wontons and chicken and vegetables in it, it wasn't bad. My Pad Thai was average. I enjoyed it more when it got cold, I'm just weird like that. My S.O. Got Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodle) and sticky rice with mango. She didn't really enjoy the pad kee mao, barely touched it. But she really liked the stickey rice with mango. We weren't huge fans of this place, we probably won't try again. read more

I don't like leaving average reviews, but this one definitely average. The restaurant is conveniently located for us and we've ordered food to-go from them about five times. One time the food was excellent. Otherwise, it's been very average. Tonight we ordered one of their "Signature" dishes -- Orange Chicken. The chicken truly tasted like chicken nuggets out of a box, and they were dry and without flavor. The quantity is small as well. This dish was lousy and nowhere close to being worth $18. We also ordered Pad See Ew and Mussaman Curry. In brief, they just were not good. Totally lacking flavor. I'm okay paying ridiculous restaurant prices, as long as the food is good. But this was a disappointment. After ordering from here five times, I will find another Thai restaurant in the future. read more

When I tell you this is my favorite take out I mean it. It's my go-to for when I don't want to cook. I love the chicken pad tai and the yellow curry. So yummy. I tried out Ta Lew's second location for lunch and it was on par with their first location. I ordered the pad see ew. A little dry with the chicken and sauce but the flavor was right. Good portions. I'll definitely order a curry next time since everyone eating there was having a variation of what curry was offered. The Thai ice tea was refreshing, had perfect ratios and was tasty. I also ordered the sticky mango rice. Mango wasn't great but sticky rice was perfect. Coconut milk accompanying the rice was tasty. Thai curry is one of my all time favorite meals but I had not had it in so long! I usually get it with tofu but I am trying not to eat as much soy so I got it with veggies. I got mine mild spice with no fish sauce. It was ready a couple minutes early! This location is pickup only, though they have a small patio with a couple tables. I brought my curry home to eat. It was a little sweet! Not spicy at all. Tons of veggie, the broccoli was my fave! Would get it spicier next time but otherwise very good, and a large quantity of food too! First beware that prices online/in pictures are not the current prices. When I went inside and got a takeout menu to look at the updated prices since my order was more money than anticipated, there weren't any listed. I had placed an order for pick up, and asked if I could substitute out the carrots in my pad see ew for cabbage. They were not willing to substitute but were going to charge $3. I declined the addition and just got it without the carrots. Fine, not the biggest deal, but the actual pad see ew was among the worst I've ever had. It was incredibly salty, maybe way too much soy sauce and their brown sauce mix? For $16 for a noodle dish with a few pieces of broccoli and tofu in a relatively small dish, this was far from worth it. I've been to places that make this and put it in the large styrofoam containers. Lastly, the mango sticky rice. The coconut sauce was like water, no thickness to it and it was a bit curdled in parts. The food is definitely flavorful. I want to say it's delicious but there are a few tweaks I would make as a chef. The crab fried rice needs LESS salt - too salty to enjoy, however, upside is the amount of crab meat is in there. The green curry was just okay...needs a thicker coconut cream - it was too watery. We've ordered takeout from Ta Lew Thai Bistro twice now. We usually call ahead and within 15 minutes, our order is ready. We've tried the shrimp pad thai, tofu panang curry, tom kha, and Thai tea. The staff is very friendly both over the phone and in person. We're always greeted as soon as we enter. The space is very cool. It has two floors of seating. The food was flavorful and the portions were pretty generous. Enough to have leftovers. The only thing I did not enjoy was the tom kha. It was on the sweet side, which I'm not used to. The Thai tea was creamy and perfectly sweetened. We will continue to order from Ta Lew. read more

Great new Thai restaurant in the Gilbert Queen creek neighborhood. It's an order at the counter/get a number/the bring it to your table type of place. I had yellow curry and the nailed it. It was delicious, creamy, spiced at the "arizona" level. I allowed myself to be talked down from crazy thai hot, next time that will be my choice. My son had red curry for the very first time and he couldn't get enough of it. The portions were large and we rolled out stuffed. Service was very friendly. I got the red curry. Not great. The flavor of the base was not great and all that is in it is chicken, carrots, bell pepper, and bamboo shoots. NO THAI BASIL. I like a lot of salt and it was too salty. I don't taste lime leaves, fish sauce, or sweetness. It's like the mixed red curry paste, coconut milk, and salt. That's it. This was just NOT good.
