Got takeout from Ta Lew last night. Ordering experience: The takeout estimation time was spot on, which is rare these days, and makes for good/easy planning. The website ordering was also easy and very user friendly. Food: We ordered the beef salad (medium), yellow curry with chicken (medium), and Pad See Ew with tofu (hot). All hit the spot (was really craving Thai), but nothing worth coming back for, though I liked that the tofu had the option of being steamed or fried (I got fried). The spice scale isn't quite accurate, with the mediums tasting mild (aka no indication of any spice) and the hot tasting medium, so I recommend going up a heat level! read more

I really don't give out five stars that often on Yelp but this place leaves no room for improvement. I tried the dumplings, which were great, but the dipping sauce took them over the top. It was really unique. A sweet and sour taste reminiscent of molasses, but not as strong of a flavor with a little vinegar for some tartness. Absolutely delicious. I tried the jungle princess, because it had good reviews. It was also spectacular. It reminded me of a mussaman curry, but without the potatoes and carrots, and a little creamier. I asked for a #3 spice level and it was perfect. My daughter ordered pad see ew. It's been a long time since I've had one as good as this. She saw the portion size and said she was glad she'd have leftovers for the next day, but ate the entire serving because it was so good. After a recent trip to Thailand, I had been putting off getting Thai food in the US for several months to spare myself the inevitable disappointment. I decided to rip off the bandaid at Ta Lew and am so glad I did! Ta Lew has a casual environment where you order at the counter, get a text when your food is ready, and then pick up your food and bring it to your table. Our food was ready within about 10 minutes of ordering. I went with the Panang curry with chicken and YUM -- really authentic, loaded with veggies, and just the right amount of spice. For an awesome price, the portion was large enough to enjoy for dinner and then again the next day for lunch. If I lived closer, this would definitely be my go-to Thai spot. read more

Very very disappointed by the experience today!! The portion of the food got really less. I got two entrees and it was hardly enough for one person. This is second time happening to me recently. Awesome Service, Cute Little Place, Rough Pad Thai Tiny spot with a couple tables downstairs and a couple upstairs. This place seems to be mostly for takeout. So let's start off with the good. The people working here were so nice I feel bad making the review with only 3 stars but you will understand why after the review. My wife is from Laos and we eat mostly Thai and Lao food daily and have been to southwest Asia and love Thailand. The Pad Thai here was not like any Pad Thai I have ever seen or tasted, it was more red and dry and had a more abrasive spicy rather than the flavor packed Thai pepper flavor we normally have. We were both confused and couldn't finish more than half of it between both of us. There was no pad Thai sauce that we could taste, no hints of lime, just dry noodles and we are not sure what else. We saw all the awesome reviews here and wanted to love the place, and only ordered the one meal to share so unfortunately I don't have another dish to comment more favorably upon. read more

Best Pad Thai I've had in years. I travel a lot and love Thai whenever I can get it and this place is worth the trip. They have another location that is take out only but we wanted to dine in. Order at the counter and your food will come out hot and delicious. You get your own silverware, napkins and chopsticks at another counter so don't wait for a server to do it for you. Lastly do the staff a favor and clean your own table. There is a bus tub on top of the trash. If you want 5 star food but not the Booshi attitude this is your place. read more

Most places are passed this and have made proper precautions to be safe and handle customers in location now. This restaurant is located in a busy lunch district, but they are basically telling people "don't come here". When you are working and ready to go to lunch, you don't want to drive somewhere, order, wait and pick up food, only to have to drive back to your office. Then the food is cold, you've wasted time and you have the mess to deal with. If you are going to be open for lunch, add some tables and let people eat on site. Hard to rate a lunch place when you have to eat condensation filled lunch. Really, really wish they could do dine in... Instead of only take out which just makes the experience memorable but for the wrong reasons. I didn't realize this until I came to late lunch with my family. We were starving and realized as we ordered that we had to take it to-go... There was zero table seating like we saw in the pics on Yelp. Ok, I already know from that limitation it'll be a disappointment: nothing, I mean NOTHING except pizza is good for take out. Because by the time you get home, even if it's 2 min walk, your food is full of condensation, it's soggy, and limp and over cooked. It's not their fault, it's just basic laws of nature that cause this scenario. Of course, we took it to a nearby park and scarfed it down and it was hugely blah... Not even a bit enjoyable.
