    Fried Gulf Fish Sandwich
    Kelly N.

We started coming here for Mother's Day a couple years ago and every year it gets better. The service is always lovely and bright. They had a jazz group playing at a nice volume and the ambiance felt very Nola without being too intense. The fried fish sandwich was the best ever! Fried to perfection. The apple dessert really stood out and was something I've never had before. I appreciate that the menu changes slightly but they keep some staples around. We will keep returning for Mother's Day brunch.

My family and I visited the restaurant for Mother's Day and had a great experience with outstanding customer service. We were greeted upon arrival. They offered a selection of fresh bouquet flowers sponsored by Hendrick's Gin, which guests can either create themselves or choose pre-arranged. I enjoyed the steak and eggs for brunch, accompanied by grilled shrimp. The highlight was the banana foster, prepared to order at our table. I will certainly return.

Tableau is an absolutely classy establishment. Peter was a funny, attentive, and kind server. We had a large party and they took great care of us. The andouille crusted fish was incredible, the shrimp and grits had incredible flavor. All of the food was wonderful.

Call to support businesses affected by the fences in the Quarter-162 days and counting... Poor Tableau was a ghost town yesterday for an 11am seating but that did not deter staff from delivering a wonderful experience! We were fortunate to take in perfect weather in the courtyard protected by shade and soothed by the bubbling fountain nearby. House sparrows flitted across the slab looking for tiny crumbs. Keely was our delightful server, keeping drinks flowing and answering questions to ensure a perfect meal. We began with the platter featuring shrimp salad, blue crab fondue and truffled crab claws. Oh momma. After all that cheese a lighter main seemed a good choice so I ordered the fried oyster salad with a side of poached egg. My egg was overdone so using the yolk for additional dressing didn't come to fruition but the extra protein was delicious anyways. The salad is very lightly dressed so if you love sauce like I do, extra dressing might be the key. Oysters were seasoned and fried perfectly and I ate every single one. A really nice morning and dining experience, so go to Tableau and support your neighbors and industry folks!

Let me start with the good. The customer service, the servers attending the group even were outstanding, knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance was old school New Orleans and antiquated. The food...... yeah duck gumbo that was tasty but served lukewarm. Salads that were warm and not chilled, and BBQ shrimp and grits that tasted more like shrimp coated in vinegary Tabasco sauce. We had a custard dessert that light but bland. It was a catered group event. Although the customer service was great, until that menu improves I'll have to hold off on coming back.

Came here to celebrate my friend. They were having a special of $0.75 French 75s! (Limit 3 per person) They brought out warm French bread with butter. Warm bread is ALWAYS a win. We ordered the crab dip. I wasn't a fan. My friends liked it tho. Not seafoody enough for me. I had a the burger. I ordered it medium. It came out well done and dry. Should have sent it back. My friend had the steak and eggs which was also ordered medium. Also came out well done. Why even ask?? The atmosphere was great though. It was a beautiful day. We were on the second floor. They opened all the doors and let the breeze blow in. There was music playing down below which was very nice background music. Could see the people walking and mingling outside. There was potential but overall the food was a let down.

I've enjoyed several meals at Tableau and I've never been disappointed. It is part of the Brennan's Family of restaurants, which are known for their quality, consistency and service. Right on Jackson Square, the restaurant has classic NOLA style. Definitely recommend Tableau.

An amazing place with even more amazing staff. We came here for a quiet lunch for our anniversary. Jewel was our server and she was phenomenal !! 4 stars to her for her personality and flair. She talked with us and jokes around, she made our anniversary special. We really thank her for going above and beyond to Mae us feel welcome. Now the food: I can not say enough for that food. It was delicious, and takes the New Orleans flavor up a notch. This place gives you a spectacular experience with nice ambiance. If you can ask to sit in the courtyard, it just feels like you are in your own world, not beep in the heart of the bustling city. Take you time and enjoy.

Slow service, but the food was amazing. This may have been a one-off but they made up for it by giving us complementary chocolate mousse. I know you're probably like, tuh, chocolate mousse, but hear me out. The texture, little scoop of ice cream on top, and the blackberry compote made it the best thing I've ever eaten. I would have never thought to order that in my own, so I'm glad they offered it. The brown butter gnocchi is the best appetizer, please order! The bread was just meh, but even though we had to wait the server was kind and friendly. There was also a strolling singing quarter that made the mood in the restaurant upbeat and fun. I'll be back and I suggest you go!

I was in town for work and wanted to come back here. I've always had great dinners here. The place gets booked up quickly, so get reservations. The restaurant is nice and this time we sat in the courtyard, since we arrived before our reservation and the host said we could sit there. Service of course is always top notch, and the manager came to check on us during our dinner. We had the sampler appetizer and we both had the lambshank. Both were good, but nothing outstanding as I had previously here. The lamb shank was dry and slightly overcooked. I will definately come back, hopefully next time the food will be better.

Made a quick stop here with my food tour group. We were in a beautiful private dining room lined with wine on the walls. We had a small serving of gumbo which was delicious and leidenheimers bread! The experience was short but great. Would love to come back some time and dine at the actual restaurant for a full meal!

This restaurant is right off Jackson Square. Unfortunately, there is construction right around the restaurant at the moment. But, we were able to get in without a problem. We were greeted warmly in the beautiful restaurant. We were seated upstairs on the balcony, overlooking the square. Our server was very outgoing and friendly. We chatted and got our orders in. She brought us warm, fresh bread with butter. We also ordered the brown butter gnocchi to start. It's a small plate with just a few gnocchi and it was amazing! It was suggested we soak up the butter with the bread and we absolutely did! My husband got the seafood bouillabasse and loved it. He did say he wished there was more fish, but then he said it was just the right amount. As he was full but not overly stuffed. I got the Chicken Tableau, which is a roasted chicken breast and a fried chicken thigh over potatoes. This was also extremely delicious. Because we were celebrating my husband's birthday, we did get a surprise dessert! It was a dish orlf a very thin creme bruelle. It was just enough for dessert after all the awesome food we had. Check them out!

Well we came for the "Fence" 75s. French 75 is in my top 3 cocktails, so I was drawn to the deal with the construction going on. They were perfect, both the gin and cognac options. We were seated upstairs and jazz music from the street below drifted up to enhance the experience. We ordered the crab fondue to share. It wasn't very crabby but it reminded me of an elevated pot pie filling. For my entree, I chose the steak and eggs at medium temperature. It appeared almost well done but I was starving and didn't feel like waiting for a remake. The portion was satisfying though. Drinks were great! Food was ok!

Is the outdoor seating pet friendly?

Outdoor seating is through the main restaurant so I would say not pet friendly.

Are shorts and tanks acceptable attire? And does this restaurant do separate checks?

It’s not really a shorts and tank top kind of restaurant. I would not feel comfortable dressing that way myself. I believe they do separate checks. The staff is accommodating and wonderful.

This review is written with the angle of original price of the cocktails for fair evaluation. We went around 10pm on a Saturday, about an hour before they close, and almost every table is occupied. Emperor is more like an old fashioned drink, and the Chariot is more tiki and fun. I liked the Chariot a lot more as the cocktail is well balanced. Compared to where I live, the cocktail prices are really good, but compared to New Orleans bars, it is on the pricier side ($16-19) but definitely matches the quality and execution. Service is excellent as the server checked up on us periodically and refilled our waters. Overall, definitely must visit especially if you are already staying at the hotel!

Boy, it was sure nice to get some vegetables in my stomach after eating all that yummy fried food during our stay! All in all, both dishes were delicious. It is a little on the pricey side, but after several days of eating in the touristy area of the French Quarter, this was truly a welcome change. Service was polite and attentive. I always appreciate the staff's efforts by making simply making eye contact and smiling (which they did). Seems trivial but I think those small things says a lot about a business. Words simply cannot express how much I continue to be blown away by the exquisite quality of food,…read morebeverage, service, and uncommon hospitality demonstrated and perfectly executed by this New Orleans establishment. My wife and I visited on our first NoLa trip together about 4 years ago and make it a point to go every time now. Our first time we stopped in for lunch at the bar and had an excellent experience, and decided to return. We came back on the next trip just to grab a drink and a snack before heading down for dinner in the Bywater. The bartender (Chris) gave a bunch of recommendations for places to visit that way, all of which we have done in the past few trips and have loved. But it's this past trip where we were truly blown away. We were in town for JazzFest and after walking back to the French Quarter, we were thinking about food options and decided to take a gamble to see if we could get a seat at the bar or maybe grab a drink for the road before getting food somewhere else. The bar was full when we got there around 8/8:15, but they had a no show and could serve us, as long as we ordered quickly and were ok with the check hitting the table right at 9PM. Given our slightly (perhaps generous) inebriated state from being at the festival all day and being slightly underdressed, we felt this was quite a kind accommodation. With the clear expectations of needing to get our orders in quickly, we wasted no time making a decision on our drinks and a few food options. Despite this need for a quick turn around, at no time did we feel rushed. The food and drinks were absolutely perfect, as they always are. But what impressed us most was the staff. At no point did the hostess or wait staff seem annoyed by us, despite us parachuting in from a music festival and looking like sunburn and poor decisions. By managing expectations on the front end, we never felt rushed despite the need for a quick turn around. They were all lovely, professional, and as cordial as if we were regulars with standing reservations once a week. In terms of atmosphere, it is always perfect: lively and fun for a date night, dinner with friends/family, or just a nice drink before a night out and about. I truly cannot begin to explain how much I love this restaurant and every experience I've had there. The awards and accolades this establishment (a sincere and lofty term Jewel of the South truly deserves) have been awarded are beyond well earned. Restaurants around the country should aspire to provide the quality of food, service, and overall hospitality Jewel of the South provides on a regular basis. It will continue to be our first and foremost recommendation to anyone we know who is going to New Orleans. Bravo! We shall return!

We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.

Our waitress was very nice and made ordering with a party of 10 seamless. For our order we got a banana Negroni and a glass of white wine. The wine was great, crisp and sweet. The Negroni was strong and bold with the banana peeking through the drink with flavor. They also offer a few bites off their menu but we opted not to grab one there. It took about 25 mins to prepare (we were given the heads up when we ordered it) but it was worth the wait. It tasted like an elevated creamsicle blend that was perfectly chilled and slightly sweet. The bitters gave it an elegant taste. So good! I'm glad to have tried my first Ramos gin fizz here in the city it was originated from!

The decor is very French Quarterish, intimate, and exactly what you'd expect from a classic New Orleans cocktail bar. I'm a big fan of sitting at the bar, so as soon as I walked in, it was time to camp out at my favorite spot. Food wasn't on my mind today, so if you're here for a food review, you might want to skip this one . This was strictly a drinks only mission. At first, the bartender was a guy I recognized from Cure, which instantly set the tone. the bartenders there actually know their craft, so I already felt like I was in good hands. Then Zari entered the scene. I'm not sure if she was just getting on shift or wrapping it up, but she completely elevated the experience. I told her I'm a gin person (heavy on the gin), and instead of giving generic suggestions, she actually tailored recommendations to my taste. I ended up ordering the Clover Club cocktail, and it did not disappoint. Balanced, refreshing, and beautifully crafted exactly what I want from a gin-based drink. Then came my bonus round: a shot of Song Cai Dry Gin from Vietnam. Clean, botanical, and surprisingly smooth, definitely not your average gin. If you're into spirits with gumption, this one is worth trying. Peychaud's delivers: the drinks. The vibe is solid, the bartenders know their craft, and the gin selection is impressive.
