Ate here 1/3/26 for dinner. Good place for solo diners. From the outstanding service by Ashleigh and all the service team, I felt welcomed by their high level of attention. After I finished dining, the hostess even walked me out to show me where to get a Lyft pick up. Because there is a lot of street construction going on right around the restaurant and you cannot drive up to it right now. The food is truly divine. From the delicious House salad with a lemon dressing to the Tableau chicken and the upside down apple cake for dessert, each item was delicious and unique. And yes, I'm saying the tableau chicken is unique. I've never had anything like it in any other restaurant. You really should try it. As well as that upside down apple cake with the olive oil ice cream. I was a little hesitant about that ice cream, but Ashleigh assured me that it was a perfect match for the Apple cake-and she was right. Tableau will definitely be on my list for my next NOLA visit. My coworker recommended Tableau to me. Though my fiance and I have been to a handful of New Orleans institutions, I took my coworker's word for Tableau and was not disappointed. I made reservations for 12:15pm on a Thursday. We arrived around noon. Not only were we seated right away, but we were also able to get a balcony table as I requested. The restaurant is pretty big. It may not look like it from the outside, but once you venture in you'll find that they have a a few dining spaces including the downstairs bar, "The Library," The Green Room, the courtyard, the balcony, etc. Overall service was great. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered a few things off the menu including the turtle soup, crawfish etouffee, and the shrimp and grits. My fiance and I shared the turtle soup. The soup was good. The flavor was great, but I found their soup more on the runny side. I was a big fan of everything I tried, but I must say that the crawfish etouffee was the standout dish. The shrimp and grits were good, but I can see them being heavy and buttery. read more

Overall it was okay. This place came highly recommended; however, there were issues. First, the octopus appetizer and the gumbo were great. The main dish fell short. I got the red snapper with spinach and polenta. The fish was severely overcooked. It was rubbery and dry. Actually, I had a hard time cutting it with my fork. And it left a taste in my mouth. The polenta was good but the spinach had no seasoning whatsoever. I left a third of the fish and half the spinach on my plate. Luckily we got the creme brûlée which did get the taste of the overcooked fish out of my mouth. Service was okay. Our waitperson was all smiles but didn't seem to care if we liked the food or not. Came here during dinner time after frantically trying to book a dinner place in NOLA. We got the sea food platter thing for 2 which included melted cheese, bread, shrimp, and the truffle crab claws. We also got the gumbo, and shrimp in grits. We were going to share the dishes and they were nice enough to split our dishes into two bowls so that we each had our own serving. Our waitress was also super nice to us, with frequent check ins and a great smile. There is a lot of space in the back, can sit tables of upwards of 10 members (if I recall correctly), private rooms, and it is well lit. read more

The balcony was pretty, but all 6 of us were facing the street instead of each other. Not the most ideal for a big group, but good for smaller and intimate conversations. The balcony view is fun when there are crowds of people walking by, but we did not get to see too many. Still, the night sky on the French Quarters was enjoyable to sit in. Ordered the Wagyu. Loved it. I was debating between this and the Seafood Pasta, but I'm glad I stuck to the Wagyu. For appetizers, my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the Gnocchi and Oysters. Chef also brought out complimentary Creme Brulee to wish our birthday girl happy birthday. The staff here were so sweet. Our server only addressed us as beautiful ladies, which was very flattering. I opted for the chef's special menu, and I'm so glad I did. It started with a perfectly grilled shrimp skewer that was very flavorful. I adventured out and had the turtle soup which was good. My favorite part was the main course, the clam and scallop linguini was amazing--fresh, perfectly cooked seafood with just the right amount of seasoning. For dessert I had the chocolate torte --I was enjoying everything I forgot to take a photo. The service was also top-notch. We had a reservation for 6 people and were able to be seated ahead of time. We had a wonderful experience at Tableau! Our server Ashleigh greeted us with a smile and ice cold towels to cool us down on a very hot day. That small touch meant so much to us. What a lovely place! I've been wanting to check them out for awhile and finally went to celebrate my graduation with family. My server (James?) was fantastic! He put me on to this secret sparkling rosè and I felt like I was in the in crowd lol. I love sparkling rosè...fyi. The food was excellent. We had the truffled crab claws, grilled octopus, escargot to start. For my meal I had the turtle soup and the fish meunière topped with lump crabmeat. Everything was so yummy!!!! Came here with some friends and got seated right away. We ordered crab tips, shrimp roll and fries, gnocchi and blue crab, and gulf fish almondine. The crab tips were fresh and the sauce was so good. It had buttery, nutty flavor with a light citrus finish. The gnocchi and blue crab was delicious as well. The nutty flavor from the brown butter, the crispy basil, chunks of blue crab, and the crunchy, but soft inside of the gnocchi. The fish almondine was so flaky and moist. We've been to Tableau before and had a phenomenal experience. This second time around was okay. There were several items we were really looking forward to that weren't on the menu. Menu changes make us sad when things aren't broken. Service was amazing, and we actually had the best balcony seating ever facing Jackson Square. The crab claws were cold, and we weren't expecting that since the last time they were hot. They did taste good in the truffle butter, but cold seafood isn't my jam. However, the brown butter gnocchi was FABULOUS. A stand out and I could eat it as an entree. My husband enjoyed his seafood but didn't care for the texture of the squid ink pasta. My filet was the most tender, melt in your mouth steak I've ever had. My daughter had the chicken tableau as she did last time and enjoyed it. It was a beautiful evening. As you see we had highs and lows based on personal palette preferences so 4 stars based on that. You may feel differently. Great location on Jackson Square attached to the historic Le Petit Theatre, although a challenge to reach during French Quarter Festival. The restaurant is stunning. From the courtyard to the parlor to the library or even the theater, there are so many unique dining options to fit a small or larger group. The wine room was gorgeous. Love the bottles and bottles of wine, large oak table, comfy leather chairs, brass chandeliers and wood plank ceiling and floor. So intimate, yet warm and cozy, for our group dinner. Tableau's delicious dishes and drinks are the star of the show. They highlight locally sourced ingredients to combine traditional European cuisine with a modern Cajun twist. Started with an open bar. Thanks for the cranberry mule and the Hurricane mock-tail, a delicious blend of fresh juices. The appetizers kept flowing. Loved the polenta bites topped with a small dollop of tomato jam and the hummus served in small pastry shells. The Maison Salad was unbelievable and a big hit with our group. Bibb and romaine lettuce, toasted almonds, Gruyere cheese, shaved almonds and grape tomatoes enveloped in the most heavenly honey creme fraiche dressing. Just bottle the dressing so that we can take it home!! The Gulf Fish St. Peter was delicious as well. The lemon buerre blanc that accompanied the fish was on point and the green beans were good as well. The Decadent White Chocolate Bread Pudding was "I think I've died and gone to heaven" luscious. Topped with a warm white chocolate ganache, we all kept eating and eating even though we were all full from our amazing meal. I'm a local and had been reading a lot of buzz about this place so when a friend came to visit, I suggested it. The waitress said they had the best shrimp and grits in the city, so I ordered that for brunch as I'm not an egg fan. Now, I don't know quite what to say about such a bold claim, but I have been to MANY other places in the city with better shrimp & grits. Way better. So no... We stopped in on a very hot June Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and were able to get seated at the bar right away. The bartender was very friendly and checked in to ensure that everything we got was to our liking. We ordered the Truffled Crab Claws and split the Grilled Summer Fruit salad - two items that were a perfect steamy NOLA summer day lunch. The crab claws were small but packed a punch of flavor. The oil was fantastic when drizzled on top of the bread (bread so soft and fluffy). The salad greens were fresh and crunchy and the fruit was perfectly ripe. Although we only sat at the bar, the restaurant itself looks great for an upscale lunch or dinner. There is also a cute courtyard that the restaurant looks into. The crab claws are in the most divine vinaigrette. The shrimp are plump and creamy. The blue crab was delightful. Nothing here was good except for the bread. The cocktail shrimp tasted like a tire, the charcuterie was heavy, the gumbo was thick and unsalted (served by dumping it out in front of you), the unsalted steak was the size of a golf ball, and the "custard" for dessert was a bread pudding. I know whoever paid for my dinner paid through the nose, and the event was delightful, but the food was awful. EDIT: I wanted to make sure I pointed out that the staff were super kind, attentive, and even went out of their way to get me a coffee off-menu. We all know there are amazing restaurants in the French Quarter but I'd be lying to say I don't get a little skeptical when I try new places... touristy places that serve mediocre food can sometimes mislead me into the doors. I've been really let me down a couple times... On this day, Tableau dangled the bait and I was hooked and was reeled in. I wasn't too sure since it's located right at Jackson Square (and all the uber touristy attractions surrounding it)... BUT I figured Sylvain and Murials are both located here too and both are legitimate restaurants. Walking thru the French Quarter on the way here, I noticed a few restaurants we considered and was relieved I didn't choose some of these since it's FRIDAY NIGHT and they had hardly any guests.... that concerns me. I was pleasantly surprised to arrive at Tableau and see this great looking 3-story building and entering into the lobby and bar, the place was happening (plenty of people waiting for tables, bar was pretty full and appeared to be a private party in a secluded, side room. We had reservations and were seated right away in a lovely dining room with great views (none of those bench seats along the outer walls where some guests are forced to stare at a wall; I hate those). We viewed the open kitchen and some picturesque windows overlooking their courtyard area (too cold to eat out there now though). Service was on point the entire meal... water was always filled, empty plates were removed timely, then staff work together to place each course at the same time, even took care of the removal of crumbs... and the staff never hovered or bothered us. More importantly, the food was excellent. I began with a FRENCH ONION SOUP... though it was a hair salty, it was still superb and would definitely order this again. Next course, I had the GULF FISH ALMONDINE; when in NOLA, everyone knows this is a dish that is served at all the classic restaurants. The fish was soft and tender and the almonds were crisp. My wife ordered their PASTA BOUILLABAISSE... Squid ink mafaldine pasta made on the premises served littleneck clams, gulf shrimp and squid served in a seafood broth. This dish was excellent; light and extremely flavorful (could've sworn I was picking up a hint of mint too). Last, but certainly not least, the CRÈME BRULEE was rather large and impressive but most importantly, it was delicious with a strong taste of vanilla. All Crème Brulee's have the top burned into a caramelized layer of sugar but this dish has this extra thick / extra crunchy layer of caramelized sugar making this one of my favorite Crème Brulee's I have ever had. I guess my concerns of Tableau being overly geared to tourists and/or being over-rated are out the window as they have proven themselves.... we'll definitely be back ! read more

I had the eggs tableau which was delicious the flavor was on point I enjoyed the nice sweet and spicy to it not really spice just a nice little kick that goes well. We've been impressed with other Brennan portfolio restaurants so we gave it a go on our last night. Services was the only good thing. Our blue crab dip smelled, looked, and tasted off - we suspected the cream was bad. The bread service was sad too; it was not warm and the bread was dry. Our steak and pork chop dinners were good but were lukewarm. Not sure how, as there were only a few patrons in the whole place. We looked for redemption in dessert, but that quickly fizzled. We had crème brûlée and it smelled like the cream was bad. It said traditional vanilla bean on the menu but had an odd, overbearing lemon flavor. Disappointed to end our trip with Tableau. read more

After searching tirelessly up and down the historic streets of New Orleans for an establishment with a comfortable balcony to enjoy a few drinks on, we stumbled upon Tableau. Like a port in the storm, we were hoping this would be our last stop of the day. Since arriving in the French Quarter, I got the feeling that quality balcony dining is rare and definitely comes with a cost. Of course, having to bribe our host with the purchase of some sort of appetizer for an outdoor table confirmed that and brought me back to similar dining experiences in Paris. Although I understand the desire to get the best ROI for the tables, drinks do equal significant income for restaurateurs and typically serve as a segway to food. After experiencing many sub-par old fashioned cocktails throughout the day, I was delighted to sit and sip on the expertly made old fashioned here. The appetizer menu doesn't disappoint and much to my surprise included Gnocchi. As I have said in the past, I am always on the hunt for exceptional gnocchi and after trying theirs, I was HOOKED. The traditional appearance threw me off a bit, but after seeing that sage brown butter sauce it came in, I was ready to dive in. This Gnocchi, clearly house made, much like an after-dinner mint, literally melts in your mouth. Being such a time-consuming process, I understand why it's hard to find it on a menu and the only choice I had at the time was to order three more and have them turn it into an entree. Definitely the best Gnocchi I have ever had yet! Eventually our party of two turned into a party of four with drinks and meals all around, so lose the principal approach at the front door Tableau and give your tables to those willing to pay the bill. That being said our table of 4 there to celebrate our anniversaries were placed in a room with 2 large parties of greater than 10 people Each that were very loud and disruptive. Nothing against them (they were clearly having fun) but in an otherwise open restaurant with plenty of open tables it was disappointing we were seated there. Our server however made up for it! She was amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. My husband devoured the mussels for an app and was too full to eat anything else :) the soups were excellent and our meals as well were well seasoned and tasty. We had the steak/ fall pasta/ duck. Fall seafood pasta was much spicer than I anticipated but it was still very good and I ate it all :) Complimentary crème brûlée for our anniversary was the hit and outstanding. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 was the slightly noisy atmosphere and nothing really wowed us about the food but it was very good. I would go back for sure!!
