I believe they also have a BOGO sake and beer special on Tuesdays and $10 bottomless sake on the weekends. First of all I love the ambiance here. Super cool AC, 90's R&B music always playing, and they have a TV for sports. My boyfriend and I got the regular and prime ribeyes which were both tasty. I like how you can customize your veggie bowls here and they also have truffle oil which is unique. The tonkotsu and sukiyaki broths were good as well. Overall highly recommend for shabu! We usually go to the HB location but were meeting someone who attends Chapman University so decided to try this location. We knew that parking is more challenging. There is a free parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Parking can still be a challenge so if you see a spot, take it. Orange Circle is always fun and a nice place to walk around so a walk from the car is always nice. The Orange location is about 30% larger than the HB location. Nicely decorated. The counters are a bit deeper than the HB location. I think the menu is slightly larger also. Someone told me the price point is higher but TBH I didn't really notice. The team is nice. The food is super fresh. There are small things that are different but I can not say they add or take away from the experience. Just different. Look forward to returning. read more

Service was wonderful and meat/veggies were really good. They will let you modify the veggies. Reduce the spinach -- they give way too much spinach (an entire plate) and very little on the others (1 piece broccoli, 2 small carrots, 2 tofu, 2 small triangles of squash). That's an easy fix -- just ask for more of what you want and less spinach. What didn't work for me was their gobu dare sauce. For me, shabu shabu entirely depends on the gobu. Theirs was on the peanutty side. I prefer a lighter sesame version. If I go back, I'll bring my own sauce. Otherwise I'll probably go elsewhere. read more

Went for dinner last night. Food is excellent and service was wonderful. The reason for three stars is that the seating is horrible. Bar seats are too low, the cushions on the seats are not comfortable. The cooking pots are a bit too far for an easy reach due to seat height which makes the cooking and eating not attractive. Also, I felt no room between a stranger next to me, we bumped elbows frequently sue to the limited space between us. However, if I was just reviewing on the food, it would be five stars without question. My family and I will check back when walking by to see if the set up for seating has any improvement. This place is always my go to when it comes to Japanese Hotpot. I love the one in HB and this is my first time coming to the one in Orange. I really liked the location, it gives a mountain town vibe. It was a great environment as the staff welcomed us as we walk through the door. Randy the owner is always super nice and thoughtful, very communicative and making sure we had everything we needed. Our server Kanica, did a awesome job taking care of us while also managing other customers in the restaurant. She made sure that our drinks are always refilled and was super attentive. I have come to this location twice and they have both been good experiences. Staff is really nice and will make sure that you are well taken care of. I got the spicy miso tonkatsu mix for my broth. Their broth is good, but I do wish it could have more of a kick. When I asked about hot drops, they did offer to put it in the broth once it was off a boil, but I believe that defeats the purpose of getting the taste on all the items I am trying to eat hot. As for my meat, I always get the beef toro belly dressed up, which is delicious. I have also tried the certified angus ribeye, which melts in your mouth, but I still prefer the beef toro belly. I got the crunchy garlic edamame on my first visit and I could do without it. I am a fan of both of their sauces, which hot drops can be added, which is great. Another thing that I did not like is that they always seem to run out of enoki mushrooms every time I go, and this is consistent with not just this location, but the Costa Mesa location as well. read more
